Mr. Pranai Rai and Mr. Alvin Chen are the 2 great people in this stores. Customers please do not switch your clothes doctors to another place this is best place for you. They know all about your clothes, what BRAND you wear and what treatment your clothes required. The laundry treatment for clothes are really fantastic such as allergic care for detergent, material care, white care, shape care, professional folding, free bag, and etc. Customer care is great informing through TEXT ready for pickup and delivery after your garment is done. I am not customer but I worked with them for about a month and half. Through my experiences over few laundry I worked before, this is the only place I found perfect to drop off your clothes, I am saying the care of your clothes are different here. Both of the them are also super in dealing with employees and keeping employees happy. I have never came across such friendliness boss I worked with. Without a doubt, they are *the* best laundry in the neighborhood at this moment. I used their wash-and-fold service regularly two years ago; at that time, their service was good, but not spectacular. Having moved back to the neighborhood several months ago - and having significantly upgraded my wardrobe, to the point where I require most of my clothes to be washed in the most delicate and gentle ways: color-separation, hand-wash, hang-dry/low-heat, no bleach, no softener, etc - I've discovered Brown Bag to be the one and only neighborhood laundry who could consistently honor my requests, as evidenced by (among others) the fact that *none* of my white 100% cotton tees they washed has pilled or shrunk to any significant degree. At several nearby laundries which will remain nameless - I've done an extensive comparison before settling for Brown Bag - fresh out-of-the-package white cotton tees have simply become *unwearable* after a single washing, even though identical instructions had been given. As someone who enjoys and buys a lot of quality designer clothing, how carefully a laundry treats my clothes is my single most important criterion for choosing a laundry. But Brown Bag excels in other areas too: reasonable rates, extremely friendly staff, nicely folded and wrapped items, etc. Clearing House 49 is absolutely correct that they "charge what other laundry's in the area charge and blow them all away in every category". read more

I was very excited when I found Brown Bag Laundry on Yelp. All the reviews were great and with my busy job, having a good laundry service would be great. I filled out the survey, confirmed by pick up, put together a large bin of laundry (when I have time, I typically carry it around the corner to the laundromat) and the pick up guy arrived at my apartment when expected. However, this is where the man proceeded to tell me that my laundry bag was too heavy and he couldn't carry it and left. On the website they state a 15lb. minimum for pick up and this bag was not terribly heavier than 15lb. Very disappointed. read more

What started out great has quickly gone downhill. We started at $1 / lb back in March with free pick up and delivery and I thought the quality of the laundry service was great. But the last time I felt I was over charged and I got back pieces of someone else's laundry to boot (ew). So this time, I asked them to call if it was going to be more than $1 / lb for 2 separate loads of 12 and 15 lbs respectively. They called and said it was $1.50 / lb (prices went up and they didn't bother to say anything) and that they were charging $3 for each separate load. I tried to find out how much a full load was and she said it was 15 lbs. When I said that was what I had, she said no, they were still going to charge me $3 / load. I live in the Lower East Side above a cleaners who would regularly do my laundry. I was in love with the fact that I could just walk downstairs to drop off and pick up my laundry...that was until my whites were turned pink...twice. Thus began my search for a new place. I went to yelp and saw the 5 star rating and decided to give Brown Bag a try. Every week I take my 15-20lb bag of laundry, walk the 1/2 mile to the subway, take the F train up two stops to Broadway-Lafayette. Is it as easy as walking downstairs? Absolutely not but I wouldn't go anywhere else! They are amazing! My clothes always smell so nice and clean, there is always candy waiting for you at the counter, and the people who work there are so nice! They know your name and different things about you such as that I am in grad school and frequently ask how that's going. The customer service is what keeps me going back to Brown Bag! read more

Wow, I never thought laundry could be this complicated until I went to Brown Bag and read the long list of customizable orders. I felt daunted yet impressed by how customizable my laundry order could be, especially after living in an NYU dorm where I just dumped everything into one machine and left. I must say, the prices here are really affordable and the location is in a safe and friendly neighborhood. Great customer service - lady was friendly and willing to answer all my laundry related questions. Laundry came out clean and smelled amazing. It's nice to have someone fold your laundry for you too. Maybe this place, and maybe my exceptions were just too high, because I don't get it. I don't understand why all the praise. They are pretty expensive, and they returned several of articles of clothing with stains, or messed up from the dryer. Laundry was clean and neatly folded. Instructions were followed properly for hang dry delicates and sweaters. However... On our first use, our laundry was mixed up with someone else's! There was an entire extra bag-worth delivered to us mixed in with our own. We had to sort through it and separate what wasn't ours, and someone came to pick it back up. Because we did so much laundry, I'm not sure if any of our stuff is missing. And the other person's laundry that was accidentally given to us included several pairs of $150 jeans. Who's to say the next time our stuff won't be accidentally delivered to someone else? Unless you want to inventory your stuff before you send it out (who has time for that?), go elsewhere. read more

I think the people are very nice, and I like the delivery but I am in shock by the prices. I will use them for laundry only, never again will I do dry cleaning. They charge $15 to dry clean a jumpsuit, and $12 for dresses. They also put charges for things that I didn't have done so check your receipts closely. My bill overall was over $300 for 22 pieces (avg. charge of $14 a piece), completely outrageous. read more

I was very excited to use this laundry service, it got a lot of good reviews and they have a very comprehensive website. I scheduled a pickup for my stuff 2 days ahead of time, but they never showed! I called them and they emailed me back the next morning saying that their driver had missed my pick up on the list. They were very nice about it and offered to pick up my laundry right away but I had already arranged to use another service. I really wanted to love this company. They pick up and deliver your laundry and dry cleaning within 30 minutes of calling (always). They follow instructions for hang dry and can get things back to you same day. They're also open on Sunday, which is a huge bonus. Their prices are a bit steep, but it felt like a great convenience. On three separate occasions, however, my sheets and brand new bath towels came back with bleach stains all across them. The first time it happened to my towels, and I thought bleach might have gotten on them from cleaning the bathroom, but then it happened to all my sheets and a different set of towels on two other laundry runs. Pick up / drop off service is fantastic given how much I work - I can leave the bag at the door and ask a roommate to buzz them up. They are always on time and SUPER responsive via text message. This business borders SoHo, so bear in mind that some folks writing reviews here, are among the wealthiest in the nation (OK, Tribeca not, but never mind....) or friends. Oy. That will get my review yanked. We'll see. The "pickups" come immediately. Then, they don't deliver when promised. I had to nag a few times. Next, they charged, I kid you not, $30 for one hypoallergenic king duvet to wash and dry. One. Duvet. Imagine the folding involved! The detail! And, this with no special, "I need all my special hypoallergenic detergents, softeners...." stuff going on. This household is not annoying. I paid $60 for the fake-duvet at Century 21. I don't like hold-ups. I don't like this, "I got your duvet and you gonna pay" crap. I don't care if we border SoHo. Robbery is robbery. Stay away. I used Brown Bag Laundry last summer and it was nice to be able to order pickup online. However, one day they brought back my dry cleaning with the wrong clothing. In place of my Theory suit pants, they brought back old Banana Republic slacks. I told them about the error and they insisted they would find my pants. They did not contact me again, and I contacted them around 5 times asking for an update, which they told me would come but would take time. However, after every time I asked them for an update and they responded they would get back to me, they never once reached out to me themselves and never gave me any answers or paid for my pants. Recently, I tried again to contact them. They told me a manager would call me tomorrow, but of course, he did not. So, I am out a $300 pair of pants (more with tailoring...) and Brown Bag Laundry couldn't care less. Don't bother because of the risk of this happening and the total failure of the company to address it. Unfortunately for me, I trusted them and lost a piece of clothing I worked really hard to buy. read more

I used this service for around a month without any issues. However, after one dry cleaning delivery I noticed that two shirts had come back with huge holes cut out of them. I contacted brown bag and returned the shirts so they could take a look. After a brief discussion brown bag claimed that I had done the damage to the shirts myself which is totally ridiculous considering the extent of the damage. They never offered to reimburse me or provide free services to make up for two 100+ dollar shirts which they completely ruined. I will never use their service again and would urge others to be careful as well. The customer service and the way they handled my issue was appalling. read more

I tried Brown Bag out for a while and stopped using them about a year ago. They were a bit on the pricey side, but I was willing to pay it if the service was good enough. Unfortunately, it was not. One day, after I had a pickup scheduled and I went to work, my wife calls me because the pickup guy started yelling at her because it was a big load and they would have sent more than one guy. So, when I call to complain that it's completely unacceptable for their man to flip out at my wife in my own home, the owner or manager just says "Oh, I'll talk to him and ask him to be more cordial next time." Is that a joke? What planet is he on that he thinks there will ever be a "next time" when I open my door to that guy? What's more, he never apologized or seemed to acknowledge that this was a serious problem. I'd also add that he didn't even really seem surprised or that bothered by it. Also, it's obviously a small thing, but I also can't help but wonder why they had such a problem with the load. It was in a bag that Brown Bag themselves gave me. Also, if the size of it was important enough for their man to yell at my wife over, why didn't they just ask? read more

Brown Bag Laundry has been around for 40 years, apparently. Not surprised, because they always do an excellent job cleaning and folding my laundry. They now use "LAUNDRY DONE", a delivery app on the App store. I just downloaded it and will give it a try this week. Very friendly people! Brown Bag is the best laundry service I have found in the city. My socks come back perfectly folded and matched- and in a separate bag, as does my underwear! Amazing!!! Nothing has ever been ruined or damaged, just made better. I had previously been sending my laundry to another place in the area, and it just didn't smell "clean." After moving to the neighborhood, we followed the high reviews of Brown Bag and used their services. We sent our clothes for wash and fold and dry cleaning three times. The first time they were a couple days late with the delivery. They refunded the delivery, promising it was only a minor error. The second time our dress shirts were five days late. When we called, they said they were supposed to be delivered, but they clearly were not. In a bind, we used them a third time, and they were again 3 days late. Fed up, we cancelled our service and ended the headache. Despite a good quality wash, the place is disorganized. They may have a fancy computer system, but they clearly do not know how to use it. We didn't demand much--just please deliver our clothes when you promised. They didn't...3 times...end of service. I recommend trying other reputable places in the area--well, at least until Brown Bag gets organized. read more
