Excellent customer service, I was actually very surprised. After trying to schedule a pickup with a few other services, Brown Bag was by far the easiest with the best customer service. I dropped my laundry off at Brown Bag because it was right in between my apartment and my work. I know they do pick-up but I decided to save a few bucks by dropping it off, which was good because Brown Bag is $$$. It was $20 for 13 pounds of laundry; HOWEVER, they were so nice and had it ready very quickly and sent me a text letting me know after only two hours. Everything was folded SO nicely and they matched my socks, bagged my underwear, and they were customer service experts. Despite the price, I'll be back for sure. read more

Could it be....? Brown Bag never mismatches socks, but there they were...two pairs definitely in the wrong place.. Was there a shift in the time-space continuum? Had I been transported to a new dimension? Then I realized, we were in Westchester for the weekend. My wife had done laundry at her mom's place. She mismatched the socks! Whew. This was my first experience with a pick up/drop off laundry service and it by far exceeded my expectations! I called in around 12 to have someone pick up my load of clothes and the delivery guy was at my apartment within minutes! Everyone that I spoke to on the phone or in person was extremely personable and friendly. Once my clothes got there, they called to confirm my order and go over the instructions with me. Received my clothes back in exactly 4 hours and they were folded, wrapped, and smell wonderful (used the lavender soap)! A little on the pricey side but it's pretty standard for a delivery laundry service. With smaller loads, I will probably just go there to drop it off or just do it myself. Simply put ,THIS SERVICE IS THE BEST! The people who pick up and deliver and the people that you speak with on the phone are as courteous and friendly as you'll find anywhere. The work they do is impeccable . We like scent free products in our laundry and in the past no matter where we had our laundry done using scent free detergent it always came bach scented from the machines. But also day to day, they great you by name, and with a big smile. The laundry itself, is the best in New York. Yes, the prices are a little higher, but once you try them, you will not go back. Love this place! I've been using BBL as my launderer for over two years. I am a stylist and they are highly accommodating to my special requests. They immediately address any issues of which there are few. The clothes come back consistently bright and fluffy in a joyful cream colored canvas bag and the staff is a pleasure to work with at every point of contact. read more

I gave a 1 star review after a recent bad experience and am amending to 3, although I wish it could be 5. Someone called me to apologize for my bad experience which I appreciate and I have them another chance. However, they failed to tell me that their prices went up until after they laundered my clothes. $1.50 per pound for wash and fold is highway robbery in my opinion! I'll be going back to Cleantopia. Came here the first time with leather jacket and was so disappointed with their unprofessional service. When I picked up, there's one red stain on the sleeve hem which was never there before. They said the stain was initially there, which is clearly a lie. I had to proof by the photo that it wasn't, so they finally agreed to redo. 3 weeks later (to be exact 23 days!), I came back to pick up and the stain is still there. Not only that, they put a tape to mark the stain (you see from the photo it's an arrow shape) and now that it marred my leather! This time, they said the stain came from the leather itself. They didn't address the damage made by the tape. I mean really? NONSENSE EXCUSES!! is that how you deliver? BBL, if I must teach you a business lesson, you should stand up to what you do wrong, admit it, face it, and offer a solution (incentives or whatever may be) and move on. By the way, the % discount for first time customer won't work in this case. Good god, imagine if this stain were on your open-front investment piece?! I never post any photos on Yelp, but this review earns the proof to make sure no one replies this review with more excuses. Go see the photos yourself. read more

I love this place! Leaving my first Yelp review ever because of the great experience I had with them today. I switched to them for wash and fold a few months ago. They take far better care of my things and they come back clean and properly pressed (couldn't say the same for my previous place). Delivery/pickup is fast and reliable, and the customer service is great. Today I had a large order in with a lot of different care requirements and some last minute changes and I needed the order back tonight before I go out of town for 3 weeks. They were extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with and I got everything I needed right on time. Thank you! read more

It gives me great dismay to write this, as I have been a loyal Brown Bag Laundry customer for many years, but the business was just sold, is under new management and is just NOT the same. Many familiar faces and longtime quality employees have quit or are quitting because they are unhappy. The laundry prices have been raised to astronomical amounts: $2/pound plus tip to do pick up and delivery, plus many additional fees for other items like separating darks from lights etc. This does not even include my soap which I supply. TOO EXPENSIVE for such a bad location in the middle of a dusty NYU construction zone. The folding care and generous use of protective plastic bags to separate things has been diminished. The new management could care less and did not offer any reimbursement or credit for losing items. The past owner really cared about her staff and her many longtime repeat customers, but the new management is not good. The worst part is that the new management did not inform the customers when arranging pick up for the laundry that they arbitrarily raised the prices on January 9th. No notice. I used to love how they took care of my clothes. But now the love is gone and the staff is leaving. My wallet is empty and my underwear still feels dirty. I am sad to say goodbye. It is no longer the same. There are too many other places that charge half as much. If the staff were all staying, then I would think twice, but ridiculously high new prices plus longtime staff quitting equals disaster and big waste of money. Might as well go somewhere else. So sad :( read more
