Placed an order through Seamless and my order ended up being pushed back twice and was finally delivered over an hour late. We spent almost $60 for the order, the cold "Belgian waffle" was missing the $3 fruit that was an additional charge with it, missing syrup.......!?And how do you only put powdered sugar on one corner? The biscuit sandwich was tiny and the sausage was also cold. Called the restaurant twice only for them to let it keep ringing. I've been here quite a few times now and really enjoy the biscuits here. The biscuits aren't dry and everything I've eaten has been incredible. The only reason I don't give Brown Butter 5 stars is because every single time I've been here and ordered a cocktail or coffee there's been an issue. The first time, I came with a friend and we ordered the same thing. Her mimosa came out immediately while I had to a) keep reminding them about my order and then b) pretty much didn't get it until I was finished with my meal. The second and third time I came, the same thing happened where my Bellini or latte wasn't done until I was done eating. Not sure if only one person is allowed to make the cocktails or knows how to make lattes but yeah. All in all would recommend the spot, maybe call ahead if you're ever in a rush for a coffee . We chose a seat inside by the window and then was told by a waitress (not so nice) that it reserved for parties 4 or more. She pulled out a sign that was clearly moved by someone else. The food here is very good I will say that - I've often enjoyed their jerk sausage egg and cheese biscuits. Because the restaurant is relatively local I've often come with friends and family for a cute little quick bite. However I will not be back due to the horrible service. It actually takes a lot for me to write a poor review especially for a Black business but this was so upsetting particularly as I've been a regular customer. A few weeks back I stopped by for an egg, cheese and jerk sausage biscuit and matcha to do some work around 2pm. Because it was a weekday and after the lunch rush there was a lull with maybe only 4 customers in the restaurant including me. As I waited for my food (and after having to remind the staff that I ordered the matcha as they had not made it nor did they apologize or regard the long wait) I took out my laptop to work. One of the young ladies on staff told me the policy of not using the space to work due to limited seating. That policy makes sense during peak hours especially the weekend when the restaurant is packed. But this was a quiet weekday in a relatively deserted restaurant. I even said as much mentioning the fact that there was no one waiting for seating and that there was copious space. That didn't matter. This policy needs to be updated and the staff could use a little more finesse when dealing with customers. I will not be back which is a damn shame because this was a local fave but the treatment I received after patiently waiting and trying to get some work done was shabby and it felt like I wasted my time and money. read more

I've been here twice and the service, as several others have mentioned in their reviews, leaves a lot to be desired. During my most recent visit, I placed my order online ahead of time, and unlike the time before, it was actually ready when I arrived, which was great. However, it took a while to get to the counter to collect my order. This was a Saturday morning and it was a little chaotic. There were a good number of people at the counter waiting for stay orders, to-go orders, and a ton of delivery folks. Customers were frustrated and the staff seemed stressed. They could definitely stand to add some sort of system or strategy to their queuing and pickup processes. Now the food and beverages... I really enjoyed their cold brew (which the menu mentions is from Cafe Grumpy's) with homemade caramel syrup. I also had tea the previous time that was pretty good. The biscuit sandwiches, on the other hand, just leave something to be desired. Having grown up in the midwest and south, it's unheard of to spend more than $5 on a biscuit sandwich. And a good $2-3 biscuit sammich can make your toes curl. That was the feeling I was hoping I'd get from Brown Butter. Now, I understand that these are more of the "artisanal" fare, so I don't mind paying more, but I do expect something memorable. Again, I want my toes to CURL upon first bite. I also expect that when I pay extra for toppings such as hot honey, that I actually get it (this time they forgot to add it, but still charged me). I've tried both the jerk SEC and a BEC. The biscuits themselves are tasty (when I go back I plan to just get a biscuit with butter and jelly and skip the meat and eggs), but the egg was flavorless both times (no salt and/or pepper), and the jerk sausage just wasn't giving me "jerk." Brown Butter has to be a favorite neighborhood locale. It's the neighborhood cafe you think of when you see a movie set in New York City. The staff is warm... even on my not-so-great days I can hop in and grab a latte and feel so much better. The food is good. Especially the Breakfast Sandwich. We had hoped to come for breakfast and coffee but unfortunately, when we arrived, they were out of eggs and most of their meat. Granted it was a Sunday and we arrived around 2pm, so this was understandable but sad nonetheless. I ended up getting an iced latte with oat milk and their signature toffee brown butter syrup. My expectations were low because most often a breakfast sandwich delivered is usually mediocre at best and roasted potatoes are usually bland in taste and cold. I picked up breakfast here one morning while waiting for my sister's hair appointment. I had the jerk sausage sandwich and my sister and husband both had the bacon egg and cheese. Great grab and go breakfast. Just place your order at counter and seat yourself if you are dining in. We visited on a Sunday morning. The biscuits are EVERYTHING! I tried the BLT w/ avocado. The bacon was a little too crispy for me. I also had the jam and butter biscuit and I had to catch my breathe after the first bite. I can't tell you what's in that Jam but it gave me a rush! My hubby had the chicken n waffle. Chicken was so so, but he said the waffle was the best he ever had. He is picky about he waffles. When I say I love love brown butter- I really mean it! My favorite sandwich is the crabby biscuit and top it off with a nice vanilla latte. Both of the owners are nice and approachable as well. Sadly, I can't say the same for one of their staff, Airiden. I've always noticed that she was a bit edgy but today topped it off. I mistakenly placed an order for Monday (a day that they're closed). This morning, I received a text message receipt stating: customer pick up at 9am. When I arrived, Airiden did not greet me and bluntly said "did you not get my text message?" I responded yes, I'm picking up. She said no you was refunded. I replied no, problem and asked to reorder my meal - which she proceeded to do. However, when Airiden passed me my coffee, I asked to have a coffee stix to avoid spilling my coffee as I walked. Airiden responded, no and lifted up a tub of stixs, stating that she have to save those for her deliveries. I found this to be ridiculous, and simply asked again. Airiden proceeded to pass one while looking annoyed and frustrated. I asked Airiden had I done something to offend her? She responded, "I just have not had my coffee yet." I am highly offended by Airiden's behavior this morning. To the point that I am not sure if I'll be spending my money at this beautiful Black Owned establishment within my neighborhood. I fully support black businesses that have their act together. They do the whole cafe thing right. Great matcha. And they have a multitude of delicious looking pastries. Most are not vegan but they have vegan donuts that I plan to try next time. I know tomato jam is the latest "thing" but imma ask for them to leave it off my avocado toast next time....unless they make a smokier more tart jam (using smoked paprika, smoked salt and lemon zest) That I'll try. The home fries (aka a vegans fallback) were superb. They mix white and sweet potatoes. I can usually do without the sweet potatoes but they seasoned this dish to perfection so I didn't notice them that much.
