I have been a patient of Dr. Brown's on and off since the 90's. I was introduced by my Mother, who was actually a patient of his Father, another fantastic dentist. When I say I was an off and on patient, that is my fault, not his. My point is, that time may lapse between appointments, but I have never considered going anywhere else. He is kind, gentle, skilled and ethical...I can always trust that he is telling me the truth and has my best interests at heart. No matter how long it has been, I never feel afraid to return because I know he'll take care of me. First of all I dread to see the DENTIST, but, Dr. Brown is sooo good! My wife and kids love him! He is soo good with children! My daughter had such a positive experience! I have been going to Dr Brown's office since I was 16 years old. I am 50 now. I recommend him because he's a good dentist and he is not trying to hustle you out of money like so many people. Dr Brown is the best dentist I have ever been to. I've been with him for a few years now thanks to a referral and I don't think I would consider switching to anyone else. The only downside is that he only takes PPO (from my understanding). You get what you pay for! All those HMO dentists try screwing you over for your money - I think that's how they pay off their school loans, unfortunately. It's pretty sad. Dr Brown doesn't lie to you to try and rip you off. He goes over things with you in detail. He's also very friendly and every time I see him we always talk about traveling. He's a cool guy! :) read more

I was searching for a dentist in the area and I found this location through my insurance:United Healthcare. The best way to explain my experience is that it was a blast from the past. The office has been neatly maintained since the 1950s with the same equipment and techniques. I couldn't believe it. It was like stepping into a 1950s movie. I like the retro vibe so it was fine at first. I didn't have a problem with the setting but I did find some problems with the procedure. I went in for X-rays and cleaning. The X-rays are done the old fashion way. It takes a very long time and the dentist wasn't even able to see what he needed to see before I left. The X-ray films were dripping fluid and he kept trying to show me the image while fluid was dropping down. The cleaning is done manually and the dentist went from touching his glasses and face to sticking his fingers in my mouth. And then again to touching his face and glasses to going back in my mouth. It was gross. The tools weren't in a clean sterile bag either. They were just sitting on the side table and I don't know how long it has been since the tools were cleaned. The dentist, Dr. Brown, is very friendly and explains the process along the way. I just couldn't stand the fact that he kept touching everything and then would go in my mouth so I definitely won't be going back again. read more

Dr. Brown and his staff are AMAZING. I found him in 2017 after moving back to CA. My dental history is long and self inflicted for a goof amount of time. I used to dread going to the dentist, but now I actually look forward to the time I have to spend there. Dr. Brown is caring and takes the time to explain what is going on. He never makes you feel like you are just another patient. As mentioned before, his office feels dated, but I think that's part of the charm. I have been to dentists with TV's on the wall and other gadgets to occupy your mind, but does that really help if you don't like your dentist? I will take Dr. Brown in an older office any day. Just this past weekend he performed a root canal on me at 5pm Sunday evening to get me out of pain. There are not too many dentists that are willing to see you 1 minute after closing, let alone on a Sunday. Can't say thank you enough to Dr. Brown and his staff. I will continue to go here as long as he stays in practice. read more

Let me start by saying I am usually pretty scared of dentists from past experiences, and It didn't help we were coming from a bad situation with another office so we were very leery at first but at every turn they put our minds at ease and now there is nowhere else I ever want my family being seen. When It came down to the exam, every step was clearly explained and the utmost of care was put in to make sure we were comfortable with everything going on. Our dentist paid close attention to details and while He offered his suggestions of how to proceed with our dental care it was left up to us how gentle or aggressively we wanted to move forward. Dr. Brown is my favorite dentist that I have ever been to. I recommend him all the time now. His staff Caridad and Stella are also truly kind and professional. My kids love going and they offer toys, books and an awesome toychest that my kids can pick out a toy and go home with a smile. read more

Dr. Brown is a cool dude. I'll admit, when I walked in I was surprised at how dated the office and equipment looked, BUT, I decided not to judge a book by its cover since his reviews were so good. There had to be a reason why people love coming here despite the decor. From my experience I can see why people come back, Dr. Brown is just a genuinely nice guy to have an easy going conversation with while he perfects your teeth. He definitely makes going to the dentist less dreadful, and provides that family business-feel goodness that's missing from all of the hi-tech modern offices that treat you like a number. I used to go to another dentist in Santa Monica until she became money hungry - my father told me to go to his dentist that he has been going to for years. In fact his wife used to go to Dr Brown's dad when she was a kid! I thought, ok fine I will try him... Well, 2-3 years later I still go to him- he is the sweetest, most honest dentist I have ever been to. My husband who had a complete not like for dentists started going to him as well. We have not looked back. My husband required major work over the years and Dr Brown has always been honest and his clerical staff are really good about giving us estimates. I have referred friends to him that had just arrived in the country and they fell in love with him too. He is exactly the kind of family dentist you want. Super nice staff and people but I'm still experiencing negative symptoms on the tooth he "fixed"...which was a very painful procedure in itself. Very old school. I have spent an entire year looking for an honest dentist on the westside of Los Angeles. I've hit walls in doing so, every dentist i have met was looking for another expense to create out of my mouth. Until i was referred to David Brown by a friend of mine. (WHO I CANNOT THANK ENOUGH) I HATE going to the dentist but i can't express enough how David and his staff create an environment of calm and serenity. Not once have i felt that they were trying to take advantage of me as all the other dentist i visited were trying to do. David works with you and does his best to make you feel at home. He explains the procedure throughly and creates ease for you while your in his seat. I don't have dental insurance, so i was pleased that David offers a wonderful payment plan as we all know a trip to the dentist is always a pretty penny. 10/10 i would recommend David Brown DDS. He is the absolute best and i will continue to use his services for the rest of my natural life while in LA! read more
