Came here last night because someone recommended it. I will now not recommend it to you. We ordered a sloppy burger, fish and chips, and chocolate shake. When our order came up, my shake had been sitting, so my boyfriend asked for another. They made a strawberry, even though I asked for a chocolate. Had to wait more for a chocolate shake. Asked for hot sauce for my ketchup and got a few shakes in a paper ketchup cup. Boyfriend said he didn't like the burger. For $10, it looked like a small McDonalds cheeseburger with some canned chili. My fish was ok. The chocolate shake was runny and not very chocolatey...not worth $4.50. The fries were the best part. An older employee did ask if we were good, so that was nice. But, I wouldn't go back. read more

Best burgers on the island if you like a California style patty (thin and crispy on the edges, best as a double). It's also a sweet spot to sit and watch the ocean. Would've been better off eating at a McDonald's. McDonald's has better quality food and waaaay more options than Bubba's. Am giving this place a 1-star review because currently the yelp reviews are far too high to be considered honest...and if the yelp reviews had accurately reflected the low, fast-food, sub-par quality of the cuisine we never would've stopped to eat there. I'm a fan of Bubba's famous onion rings but upon my last visit I was quite disappointed that my onion rings were cold and my corn dog was just frozen from the grocery store at Longs here in Kauai. I've been on vacation to Hawaii for the past week and a half... First on Oahu going out to eat every night and then island hopping to Kauai. The first place my wife and I went to while on this island was Bubba's per my cousins recommendation and let me tell you. This was the first meal that left me fully satisfied my entire trip. It was enough that I even went back a second time the following day! I reccomend this burger joint. The only note is that they have 1/6 lb burger patties, not 1/4 lb patties like I was used to. Bubba's Burgers is the "official" fast food burger of Kuaui Island. They have three locations: Hanalei (north), Kapaa (central) and Poipu (somewhat south). Mr. Bubba oughta resurrect the Wendy's commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGvPVXao03E) and see what we mean when we say "where's the beef?". Coincidentally, Wendy's Old Fashioned Burgers tastes similar to Bubba's Authentic Old Fashioned Burgers. The wife ordered a regular burger and swore up and down that she would never come back. Me, I ordered the Sloppy! where the burger is drowned in a sea of chili and onions. First off, I do not like beans in my chili and second, where's the beef? Not sure what they put in their food but my throat remained dry the rest of the night. Related aside: If you have been following my reviews lately, their onion rings were great here and tastes EXACTLY like the ones I had everywhere else on the island. Once upon a time....this island favorite became commercialized and now is only visited by tourists. The burgers are not what they used to be just a few years ago, moist, juicy and plopped on a great bun with tops you don't have to beg for. We were disappointed with the small burger and skimpy combo side of onion rings and fries called "frings". Great name.....but don't raise the prices and cut back on quality it never works. This place serves burgers so similar in taste ,texture and appearance to macdonalds but with a independent name. I ordered the double bubba with cheese ,fries and coke. I was looking for a thick hand shaped and seasoned patty sitting on a bun with bite and texture, but I got a macdonalds sugar bun with no bite. It's funny because they have a real anti Mcdonald ,Burger King sign inside but yet I could not taste the difference. The end of the day if you want a standard macdonalds burger with a little difference. I don't care what Robert Downey, Jr. says. This place is not that great. My pineapple burger was just meh. I have had so many better burgers before this is just like such a throwaway. It's affordable though, and the people were nice enough. RUDE SERVICE good burgers though. My husband's Christmas gift from me was a trip to Hawaii for February and since Christmas we had been excited to go back there and visit Bubba's as our first stop to eat. So we did just that but when we got there we were on FaceTime with our relatives back home and the cashier-who has such high standards for herself- yelled at us to not record her which we were not at all doing. We were NOT interested in having her in our FaceTime conversation by the way. But they were ok, hot but only received 6 rings....so expensive at $4.50 for some tiny rings.
