Very disappointed with our visit. It was a very busy time (around 2pm) so we elected to eat outside. It took the wait staff a full 10 minutes to even take our order and then waited almost 45 minutes to get it. My biggest pet peeve is not refilling our drinks, and not only did she "say" she'd bring refills and not, she also neglected to bring catsup- so we borrowed from the table behind us. She barely stopped by to check on us at all. The check took way longer than it should have, and they had the nerve to circle "gratuity not included". We normally tip very well- especially when we receive excellent service. Unfortunately that wasn't the case here. The final straw was using the restroom (which had a keypad that required a code to get in). I had to find an employee to get the code- whom appeared to be in a disagreement with another employee (I felt like I was being rude to interrupt her berating a coworker). After using the restroom, I had to pass her again to exit the restaurant and she was STILL going off on him! The food was okay- not great. Once was when a group of us stopped here for dinner on our way to a Miami Heat game, and the other was when I stopped here with some friends for a late lunch on a weekday. The first time I came here I got an order of hush pups from their appetizer menu and an order of fries. During this past visit, I had their mahi mahi fish and chips. Both times the food was good (then again, one would be hard pressed to mess up hush puppies or fish and chips too badly), the service was good and this place offers an atmosphere that's a bit different and a little more lively than your standard seafood restaurant. The restaurant itself is quite large complex with an outdoor seating area as well as a huge gift shop and the indoor air-conditioned café. Most of my stars are given for the actual food itself the star that was deducted was for the service or lack there of at times. I had the Cajun shrimp and the pear and berries salad which was absolutely amazing. I don't know what they put in the dressing but I wanted to lick the plate. My girlfriend ordered the coconut shrimp which was very large and crispy and flavorful. The margaritas were very fresh tasting as well and pack quite a punch! It was a Sunday so we had to have a little patience since the place was busy but like I said I deducted one star for service only because when we sat down it took someone 20 minutes to even come say hello and get us menus. BUT if you show up 6min after receiving a text message that your table is ready, you will not get seated. I dined here on 1/29/2023. I looked very forward to it because bubba gump use to be a favorite but this location was horrible. 1st the waiters we're young maybe early 20s or late teens. I ordered a bowl of gumbo which has grease throughout the bowl and it wasn't very warm, you could tell it wasn't freshly made. And my dinner was cajon shrimp with rice. The shrimp were overcooked and like rubber and basically bland. The best thing about it was the Jasmine rice. The waiter asked if I wanted them together I said no I wanted my soup first obviously you always get your soup or appetizer first you eat it then you get your main course, Nope within 2 minutes of getting my soup I received my dinner anyways it took 10 minutes maybe longer to see my waiter again he then asked if I wanted my check I said no I wanted key lime pie. Within 2 minutes I got my pie from a severer with no silverware. I waited 5 minutes for my waiter who I told I needed silverware and the same kid that brought my pie brought me 2 spoons on a plate. Clearly I am only 1 person. I took 1 piece of the pie and it tasted nothing like key lime pie. I waited another 5 minutes for my waiter whom I told it was horrible and I wasn't paying for it he then brought my check I then waited another 10 minutes for him to take my check. On top of that city of Miami has an automatic 18% gratuity automatically. If I would've seen someone looking like a manager I would have told them but obviously I didn't. We didn't like our drinks but by the time we got their attention we had drank them half way and decided not to bother. I have been to many Bubba Gump restaurants now, (Maui, San Fran, Orlando, Miami) and they are all the same. Pretty fun and fantastic. We were on a paid trip to Miami on a tour bus that left us on this tour and we decided to head out to Bubba Gump's. I like that they usually have good beers on tap and lots of good shrimp Po Boys. Again, I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and it was awesome. Lots of good remulade and my wife got a grilled shrimp salad. Everyone was happy and he walked around the cool pier that it was located on to burn off the calories. If we had more time, I would try and find a unique place in Miami, but for being on a tour bus, this hit the spot! read more

My husband loves the movie Forest Gump but yet had not been to the restaurant. We saw one in Orlando but decided to go to Hard Rock. This time when we saw in Miami, we had to try it. I like the restaurant theme and friendly staffs.The food was not bad but nothing great about it. It was just another regular franchaised restaurant quality. However, they are waaaay overpriced I must say. Two entrees and one drink cost us close to 50 bucks. To me it was more like 25-30 bucks meal. I know it comes with the brand having the Forest Gump theme and all but the quality is nothing different from Apple Bees or something. I would definitely not go back. [Visit of Sat, Feb 4, 2012] Bubba's is a very well-conceived restaurant. Everything fits the image of Bubba Gump from the movie, even the frumpy dress of the staff. One of the busgirls looked like she could have been one of Bubba's sisters from "Forrest Gump". The food was better than we expected. My Mama's Blue Shrimp Gumbo was rich and full of proteins. The "Run Across America" appetizer sampler was above average, the Cajun Shrimp were excellent, and the Shrimp Shack Mac n Cheese looked and tasted as good as the photo. We were taking Bubba's advice and trying as many different shrimp dishes as possible. This is an excellent family place. This was our second visit to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. with our first visit having been in Hawaii. We had high hopes from our first visit to this chain but sadly those hopes were disappointed during this visit. We wanted to sit outside on the patio and after some back and forth with the usher, we were given a table outside. There was some confusion about who our server would be as one waiter had already stopped by our table and checked on us but a few minutes later, another waiter took our drinks order. I was expecting our original server to come back but the same person who had taken our drinks order took our food order as well. The 3 items we ordered were Shrimper's Net Catch (with cajun sauce), "I'm Stuffed Shrimp", and "Bucket of Boat Trash". The "I'm Stuffed Shrimp" which consists of large shrimp with crab stuffing was a nice dish. However, the jasmine rice that came with it seemed very out of place. There was also little seasoning in the rice and I was a little befuddled as to how best to have it. My wife's dish of shrimp, fish, and crab legs seemed like a small-ish sized dish. It did not really stand out. Although the food was average to even good, what caused us to have a negative experience here was the very poor service. We requested tartar sauce with all the fried seafood and mentioned that even when we ordered our food but that was not brought out to begin with. The first person we pointed out to couldn't distinguish between cocktail sauce and tartar sauce and thinking that she works at a seafood restaurant just blows my mind away. Then, when we wanted small forks for fishing out the crab from the crab legs, it took the servers at least 15 minutes to get that for us. Even though we had the "Stop Forrest Stop" sign on, no one could get us the fork during that period. Lastly, my wife had ordered a soda and although she was finished with it during her first few minutes, there was not even a single refill. Although we were not entirely full by the time we were done here, we did not feel like ordering dessert and left somewhat disappointed with the experience we had. I hope the owners at this location pay attention to the quality of service and do a better job training and motivating their staff. If not, my visits to Bubba Gump will surely be a thing of the past. read more
