First time visiting this restaurant.., a few hits and misses... Hits: the chili beans were hot (temperature) and tasty with the right amount of spice. Miss: massive amount of tomatoes Hit: the brisket was tasty Miss: it was almost cold Hit: the pork spareribs were good with a nice char to them. Miss: lots of fat/gristle (but maybe that's normal for spareribs?) Hit: 805 on tap Miss: served in a thin plastic cut that requires 2 hands to hold if it's more than half full, or else is will squeeze in your grip and spill over. Hit: fries. Nice crunch to them. Miss: Chicken tenders.., too salty and they stabbed a stack of pickles to them. I hate pickles (if that were listed on the menu I would have asked to not have them. Environment- all misses: no greeting or acknowledgement when we entered. Had to go to the bar to order drinks- couldn't order them when we ordered food (unless you get soda). Tables... kinda sticky.. not sure if they were clean. We sat near the "jail cells" (not sure what that's all about) but there's a large shelf unit right there loaded with bathroom supplies- jtoilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies. Doesn't do much to enhance the ambiance or appetite. They did say thank you when I put our empty wine glass on the bar on our way out... got that goin for them. read more

No no no. I ordered the tri tip. Blood was running. Now if you want to order rare meet that's fine. But meat that is supposed to be smoked is a slow process. There should be a ribbon of pink in the center that is from the smoking process. This is meat that has been rushed through. Not even close to something you would call barbecue or smoked. read more

Went to the website to decide what to order. All the prices are wrong by about $10 and when you tell them they act like you said nothing and just charge you more. When you're craving BBQ and far away from home, Bubba's will do the trick nicely. When you pull in to the parking lot, you are greeted by a huge smoker and that mouth-watering smell. We started with frozen adult beverages... although we meant to order just regular sodas, we must have looked like we were on covid-cation so the cashier rang us up for "frozen drinks". Now on to the excellent customer service: we headed over to the bar to claim our drinks and faced an array of coffee-disguised alcoholic icee machines. We had this BBQ spot delivered to a house we were staying in for a work trip. It's not clear to me if it was because it was delivered or if it was typical but it was a bit of a disappointment. The mac n cheese was actually really good, but the meat was pretty dry and tough to eat. Some of the ribs we got, I couldn't even rip the meat off of the bone. Each plate was $18 and all you got was a little meat and a small-sized salad. To actually find the BBQ on the menue took me time. The brisket was marginal at best. They also have a severe fly issue. We were spending the night at a nearby Holiday Inn and were delighted to find this place in walking distance! We ordered the brisket and a drink and could not have more pleased! The brisket was some of the leanest and best we have ever had - and we order lean brisket everywhere we can find it! It was absolutely delicious! Great BBQ, awesome service and family-friendly atmosphere. We ate lunch here with a family and the four of us really enjoyed the food here. I enjoyed the brisket which was hot and tasty and bubba's beans were spicy and good. My my youngest daughter ordered the ribs with sauce on the side and were served with sauce, but they fixed it within 5 minutes without any complaint. Beer was cold, drinks were plentiful, and we really enjoyed the outdoor dining. My oldest daughter loved her pork pork sandwich and wife enjoyed her tri-tip sandwich. Stopped in at Big Bubbas BBQ while visiting vineyards up in Paso Robles. It was our first time at Big Bubbas and we were hoping for some yummy BBQ. Unfortunately we weren't impressed. We shared a yummy nachos appetizer then ordered two veggie burgers, a kid's meal, and my 10 yr old daughter and I each ordered their 1 meat choice combo. We asked for chicken and requested a drumstick and a breast. The waitress said I don't know if I can give you a specific part of the chicken but I'll try to accommodate your request. I questioned her why and she offered no acceptable explanation. I don't remember exactly how I replied but I wasn't happy to hear her response. When the food came out, surprisingly the veggie burgers looked and tasted the best. The chicken was in tiny portions of undercooked and fatty thighs and drumsticks drenched in BBQ sauce. It was hard to tell if the pink of the meat was the sauce or it was undercooked. The sides weren't great but because we were all hungry and already waited enough, we made the best of what was served and then ordered an a la carte chicken breast for my 10yr old since she was still hungry. When all was said and done, we walked out less than satisfied. I don't know what the quality of their red meat is but they don't do chicken well and we won't be back. read more

With so many barbecue options in the area it's really sad when a company that's been around in the Paso Robles area for quite some time simply doesn't understand customer service. They are presently offering on their website their steak meal for $25.99 however when you call the restaurant they increase the price by three dollars and claim that there's an error on the website. Instead of working with you and adjusting the price accordingly, the restaurant chooses to turn away business. Having worked in the restaurant business for years, this is nothing short of unprofessional. This is not customer service by any means this is a restaurant that has been caught trying to elicit more money from its patrons. Moreover, while the food is decent, there are far better barbecue restaurants in San Luis Obispo County. Eat here only if you wish to be treated poorly. read more

The slices I had were like cuts of the point and the cap with the fat in the middle still attached. The meat was tender, but the flavor seemed forced, not smoked. Ordered the coleslaw and wow, what a disappointment. The texture was weird and the flavor was bland. Couldn't eat it. The meat was edible, but when you are spending BBQ money it better all be good. Bad definitely describes my experience of this restaurant. The smell was amazing walking in, but I quickly realized I made a mistake the moment I bit into the dry brisket and tritip. It tasted as though it was days old cooked meat heated up. I'm surprised it wasn't covered in BBQ sauce to hide its flaws. I ordered a baked potato and it was the only thing that tasted decent -- definitely hard to mess up a baked potato. The only thing that amazed me was how quickly the plate came after I ordered it, but I would gladly wait longer for good BBQ, not bad BBQ. The brisket was so bad that I actually left most of it on the plate. I was asked if I wanted a box to take it home, but I don't want to reheat what tastes like reheated meat. I had a moist pulled pork sandwich served on a moist brioche-- definitely upper tier!. The baked beans side dish is quite interesting: they added lots of stuff to it. The service was the fastest I have ever experienced: I think the food came in no more than five minutes after we ordered. Super dry tenderloin and real intense brisket rub that is overpowering. The ribs were good, but not enough for a four star or a recommendation. The best thing about this place is the service. We ate here after receiving a coupon in our entry packets for Western Bonanza. If I'd read the reviews first we probably wouldn't have come in, but I'm glad we did because our experience was good. The service was average, nothing more or less. The woman who took our order was pleasant. I don't understand the poor reviews for food, we must have gone on a good day because this was some of the best BBQ we've had! The delicious smoke flavor permeated throughout the meat and it was cooked perfectly and was tender. The chicken was so juicy and seasoned well. I was in a group of five adults who came for dinner tonight and shared a Family Feast and a sampler. In the future I'd just do the feast, as it was plenty of food for 5. The ribs were crazy good and the pulled pork was a huge hit. For sides we did Texas toast, fries, and salad. All were really good. Our waitress Taylor was on point. Our drinks were filled quickly and we never wanted for anything. I read a lot of the reviews before coming and realize this place is hit or miss. It looks like we had a lucky night.
