Wanted my monthly Italian take out feast but was repulsed by the $35 price point at Johnny Carino's, I was pleasantly shocked to learn that Buca Di Beppo has recently tailored some of their menu items to suit INDIVIDUAL diners. Alas, the place whose name literally translates into "Joe's Basement" now will feed JUST Guiseppe, er, Joe...instead of the customary groups of 3 to 8 people that their customarily Goliath-sized entrees will satisfy. I opted for their lasagna w/ a side mixed green salad, two pieces garlic bread and an accompaniment of their half-pound meatball. The flavor profiles were earthy, heavily redolent of tomato-dense sauces slowly simmered for several hours. The lasagna features several cheeses including mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan and provolone paired w/ their minced meatball base to produce an unctuous, deeply satisfying bite. Ditto for that meatball, which could double for a MLB baseball (strictly in SIZE not taste!). The salad and garlic bread were both undersized and underwhelming. The bread was served cold and charitably described on the menu as "two pieces" even though it's quite clearly cleared in half, diagonally, from one larger piece of bread. My salad wasn't chilled and some of the lettuce pieces were beginning to wilt. Pro Tip- And this is a universal complaint against the big three national Italian chains of Buca di Beppo, Olive Garden and Johnny Carino's-- Pls STOP dispatching your takeout orders in foil containers, which cause us to hafta reheat our orders in other vessels.

Ordered the eggplant parmesan and spicy Italian sausage parpadelle. Eggplant was a little too sour/ acidic, but parpadelle dish was amazing! Burst of flavor with just the right amount of spiciness over buttery parpadelle. Definitely have a new favorite here. Friendly service and cozy ambiance. Not too loud so perfect for romantic dinner.

The thing I love about Buca is that it's always consistent. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. It's a great spot for larger parties. The portions are huge. I always walk out with leftovers. Some of my favorites are their Chicken Carbonara and Penne Alla Vodka.

This was my first time at Buca di Beppo and here are my thoughts.... It's Mother's Day and it was busy! Thank god for my reservation. A big shout out to the hostess, Layla, she was so nice and was able to get my mother and I to our seats 5 minutes before our reservation time. To me that's a big deal. It's an adorable restaurant, with a lot of personality. Our waiter was Charles. At first, I didn't know where our service with Charles was going to lead to. It felt rushed, BUT I had to take a step back and come to realize that it's Mother's Day and it's Busy. What I appreciated from Charles was transparency on the wait time, how apologetic he was and was attentive by checking in on us. He made great recommendations and we ordered them. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Rigatoni, the Prosciutto stuffed chicken, and the Italian broccoli Romano. They were delicious. Charles was great and they way he handled the crowed was stellar! Lastly, shout out to the chef and cooks for a delicious meal. Way to go! Thank you Buca and Charles for making my Mom feel special on Mothers Day!

A pretty good spot for a large social gathering. I came here with family for a wedding dinner celebration. When I first walked in, I was expecting a place a little bit fancier, but to my surprise it was more casual. The smell was very overbearing, it smelled of sweat and cheese, and I understand it could be because of the cheese they use for their dishes. However, it was too much for me. This place is fairly big! It's kind of a maze to get around, but they do have a lot of seating. I actually really enjoyed the food! The salads and garlic bread were my absolute fave! It's tough to come across a good salad. We had family style pastas: spaghetti, alfredo, and I can't remember the other, but my tummy left happy! I enjoyed my time here, just not a place I would go out of my way for a meal. Service was good!

Buca di Beppo is one of those Italian spots that everyone has seemingly been to. But despite the many locations throughout the Southern California area, I've never been to one of these restaurants up to this point. Looking to give them a try, I decided to check them out on Uber Eats and see what there was to eat. At the time of this review, the restaurant was running a buy one get one free offer for a multitude of their dishes. And so I decided to order their Chicken Parmigiana which was $20.69 at the time of this review. Considering the BOGO price, the two orders I had came out to be about $16 per entree. And considering the size of the dish, it was pretty fair from a price-to-portion ratio. The dish had two items to it: a slab of breaded chicken and spaghetti noodles. The container it came in was pretty large in size, so the dish lasted two to three meals. From a quantity standpoint, you could make this meal last awhile which is why the portion proposition is there. But on the other side of the coin, the food was pretty difficult to eat. Starting with the piece of chicken, the breading was very soggy by the time it got to me. This made the dish as a whole taste very wet and not very appetizing. The breading of the chicken also lacked flavor which was a big letdown. The meat of the chicken appeared to be a condensed chicken patty and made the meat taste dry despite the wetness of the dish. And moving onto the noodles, the dominance of the red sauce left little room for any other flavors to shine through. The noodles tasted overwhelmingly of tomato which created a major imbalance given the texture of the noodles and the chicken it came with. With so many positive reviews coming from others who have tried Buca di Beppo, I would be inclined to try something else the next time I stop by. And while the $16 price tag for a large plate of pasta is an enticing offer from a price to portion perspective, the flavors of the food was a major letdown. But don't let this stop you from giving them a try! I'm sure the other items they have on the menu might move the needle for most people.

This place is known for family style dining and it's not too hard to see why. We held a retirement party here in their private room this week. It was enormous and could've held 50 people easily. There's a another side too that is behind a velvet curtain that can hold another 50! They even have a gorgeous round pope's table that hold parties of 12. The swrvice was great. The manager took me back to the room early and let me decorate and then led the guests through maze to the back room as they came. The server also came to introduce himself and was prompt with drink orders as guests arrived. Everyone was busy mingling and he never rushed us to start eating. The portions were huge on even the most basic set menu we chose. The bread was soft, the salads crispy, and the pastas flavorful. They had a vegetarian entree made for me too, the eggplant parmesean which I had to pack up for later as the ziti was delicious and plentiful. Defintely recommend for large parties! We even had a photographer come in and pose us and take pictures he brought back in to sell to the honoree.

First time ever eating at a Buca di Beppo and it was a great experience. Went with family on a Sunday evening and for a party of 6, we waited about 10 minutes to be sat. The decor is so cute, retro wall art, photos of celebrities, random Italian Knick knacks. Great vibe. Food was delicious. It is shaeable/family style plates. We ordered the $40 bundle - choice from spaghetti or fettuccine Alfredo and a Caesar salad or mixed greens. We chose the chicken Alfredo and the Caesar. Chefs kiss. Love a goood ceasar. We also ordered the chicken parm (3 pieces) they were hefty size and the trio platter as an appetizier which included calamari, spicy shrimp, and fried mozzarella. Yummm. My little cousin ordered the kids spaghetti and said it was plain. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back.

My family and I had a pleasant experience at Buca di Beppo (Claremont). The prices are very competitive; the food portions are gigantic; staff is very charming & accommodating; and its ambiance is welcoming and lovely. If searching for an affordable location to quickly feed a large party, Buca di Beppo (Claremont) fits that niche. Concerning the food, I sincerely enjoyed their pasta's noodles because it tasted fresh and springy. [Important Note: Buca di Beppo (Claremont) serves its food "family style." The "regular" size feeds 3 to 4 people. The "buca big" size feed 5 to 6 people. Be prepared to share.] Unfortunately, the biggest problem with Buca di Beppo (Claremont) is the dishes' flavors. The Fettuccini Alfredo ($34.99 + $7 for chicken) is very bland; its cheese sauce resembles the taste served in prepackaged frozen dinners. The Chicken Marsala ($39.99) also had an unsettling sweetness; it tasted like budget Teriyaki Chicken dripping with thin teriyaki sauce. Its sugary mushrooms tasted like cotton candy. And the Buca Trio Platter ($40.99) was a mess of saltiness, cough-inducing spiciness, and oiliness. I applaud Buca di Beppo (Claremont) for its huge portions and beautiful plating. However, its food is just not tasty nor remarkable. Be prepared to use the table side pepper and salt shakers to alter its taste. My family and I arrived on Saturday (around 5PM). Buca di Beppo (Claremont) is very busy! There were many groups and parties waiting to dine-in. The front hostess immediately helped us, and she quickly wrote down my name. We were seated in four minutes and 48 seconds. As soon as we were seated, we were immediately greeted by our waiter (Vince). Vince is charming, hardworking, and very helpful. Vince brought a jovial smile and a professional attitude to our table. Compared to other locations, Buca di Beppo (Claremont) has amazing staff! Staff moved quickly. We ordered the Buca Trio Platter ($40.99), Fettuccini Alfredo ($34.99) with chicken (additional $7), Chicken Marsala ($39.99), and Colossal Brownie Sundae ($18.99). Vince worked fast. The drinks arrived in two minutes and 20 seconds. The Buca Trio Platter appetizer arrived very quickly after. Vince provided the table with bread. And all the main dishes arrived within 23 minutes. The Buca Trio Platter includes Fried Calamari, Fried Mozzarella, and Spicy Shrimp. The Fried Calamari came extremely salty. The breading is not flaky; rather, its breading is hard despite not being overcooked. Strangely, the Calamari also had a small spicy bite. The Fried Mozzarella had a very weak cheese taste. It arrived soggy and lukewarm. It sat atop very acidic tomato sauce. Unfortunately, the Spicy Shrimp was horrendous. The entire table started gagging and coughing from the unexpected, powerful spice powder in its batter. Our amazing server, Vince, quickly accommodated us; Vince was able to replace the pungent Spicy Shrimp with another serving of Fried Calamari. The complimentary bread came dry and barely warm. Thankfully, the wetness and flavor of the olive oil and balsamic vinegar saved the bread. Concerning the other dishes, the served chicken is tender and moist. And as previously mentioned, I enjoyed the pasta's noodles. It tasted fresh and well-prepared. I also liked how the Fettuccini Alfredo's sauce (despite tasting cheap) had an enjoyable thick consistency; the sauce was not wet and watery. Regarding the Colossal Brownie Sundae, I appreciated the scoops of creamy chocolate ice cream. Unfortunately, the whip cream and brownie bites tasted a little cheap with that prominent artificial sugariness. Regarding ambiance, Buca di Beppo (Claremont) sparkles and attracts. This location's strength is its phenomenal ambiance. The photographs and art murals are visually stunning. Buca di Beppo (Claremont) successfully shares the story of a rich, deep history. What's even more spectacular was the cleanliness! This location is spotless! Maintaining that level of cleanliness with so many decorations is extremely impressive. At times, Buca di Beppo (Claremont) felt like Disneyland. In addition, the location did not play music, so it was easy to speak with family. Also, I enjoyed how the air condition felt very strong (almost refreshingly chilly). Guests always felt comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Buca di Beppo (Claremont). Our waiter, Vince, is delightful. The ambiance is gorgeous. And its prices and generous portions are very competitive. Unremarkable flavors aside, I left Buca di Beppo (Claremont) full. Service: 5 out of 5 Ambiance: 5 out of 5 Food's Taste: 2 out of 5

I met my daughter for lunch at Buca today. We haven't hung out for awhile, so I was definitely looking forward to spending time with her. The ambience is always great in the restaurant. Our server was Sunday and she was fantastic. Sunday made sure we got the house bread with oil and vinegar right away. She gave us enough time to look at our menus and make our decisions. We went with fettuccine alfredo and fried mozzarella, which was brought to us in a timely manner and was very delicious. Sunday checked on us promptly as we enjoyed our food and made sure we had anything we needed. She was a nice friendly server with great customer service skills. Took a party of 12 to this location . I have been to this spot many times without issue. Something has changed . We had issues with stuff floating in drinks from bar 2x ! We were advised that the coffee maker does not make good coffee because the old owner took the good machine ! I think the service did the best she could ! The salad was the only dish I would consider the same quality as prior visits ! I hope they can get things corrected or they will not last ! Sorry but had to state the facts ! read more

Service was good and wait staff was friendly and prompt. We went for two birthdays. Food was good but very over-priced. Drinks were okay but not great. I wanted to love this place but is very run down and needs some attention that is hidden by the low lighting. We had a larger party so two table were put together with one side standard chairs and the other side two booth seats put together; two of the booth seatings had very apparent spring problems that created a hole that you fell into--super uncomfortable and to avoid it one person had to straddle the two booth seats moved together. I came in on Valentine's Day at 11:00 am to place a to go order for 3pm. When I arrived they said they had it down for 4pm and that it would take another 20-25 minutes. No remorse or concern. No what can we do to make it right. When I asked the associate what are they going to do to compensate me for my inconvenience... she looked at me like I was an alien! Tonights dinner was amazing!!! Hannah was by far the best waitress I have ever had. This young lady is very personable, attentive and has excellent customer service! She even made me tea because I said I had a sore throat. It's obvious she loves her job and is a asset to the restaurant! IN addition the Manager Andrew was very helpful with all my questions! If I could give 0 stars I would. Starting with service, I felt as if I was bothering my server when I asked for something. Not only that but we ordered out food and spoke once, then again 48 minutes later when I asked how long it would be more to receive our food. He dropped off our food cold and really watery (as if he forget and it was sitting out) Food Our food was delivered cold, and watery with NO flavor and very dry. Noodles were cold and try and sticky missing sauce. Raviolis were watery and disgusting and our salad was completely missing dressing. But still, we didn't mind. We just wanted the bill to get the hell out. We paid $159 for the bill, plus tip and left our untouched food behind. I would definitely choose olive garden over this place. Had my son's birthday here yesterday and the food and service was excellent! We had Chuck and Bella as our servers, who were very attentive and made us feel like we were the only customers in the restaurant. We ordered the chicken parmigiana and egg plant parmigiana which were very delicious. We also ordered the lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, pepperoni pizza and, the Gorgonzola salad, which were all tasty and plentiful. Our first time visiting - celebrating our 10 year anniversary so we decided to come here since we've heard so many good reviews. Food was good but service SUCKED! Our waiter never came to our table and when she did she disregarded what we said. The gentleman who brought out our food was who served us drinks too instead of our waiter. When she finally did show up we asked for boxes and a tiramisu. She brought boxes, picked up our plates and gave us our check. I was so over it I didn't even mention dessert again. We were finished eating when she was explaining to the table in front everything they had. Sunday was great!!! Buca is solid "chain" Italian food, always consistent but what makes it 5 stars is the service. From the beginning of the meal till we left Sunday made us feel special. She treated my family with respect and was always there when we needed her. It's not often a server anticipates needs rather than reacts to requests. Always good food, but not the greatest. The food would probably taste better if it wasn't so expensive. We also didn't appreciate the photographer who took photos and was visibly annoyed when we didn't want to buy them. We already paid around $250 for dinner and we're not wealthy. I appreciate that a photographer may be great for some, but perhaps a price list could be on the table so guests can tell the server if they're interested rather than the tactic currently used. Just a suggestion. All that said, we'll probably be back in a year or two because Buca is a neat change of pace with good food and good atmosphere. read more

My family and I came in the other night for dinner, our server was Becky. Never have I seen such an attentive, kind , funny server. Not only were her recommendations on point , but believe me or not I saw a toddler at another table stand up and was ready to fall Becky with plates in her hand leaped over and prevented the child from what could have been a nasty fall all without spilling the food. There were 4 of us for dinner. About 4 pm . Not too many in restaurant yet. Booth bench seat had a ripped out ( Grand Canyon ) size Hole in it. Food came out very quickly. But the food was warm. We thought it was maybe the AC, but no, the center of all 4 meals were just warm. Not worth the almost $200. For the 4 of us not including 2 cocktails. We made reservations for a large group. Typically I stress when we have large groups at restaurants because either the service is bad or of course there is mix ups. Well....tonight was not the case! We were greeted by our amazing waitress SUNDAY. Her smile, energy and helpful knowledge of the menu was quite impressive. Our food and drinks came out in a very quick timely manner. We finally made it to this place thinking we successfully completed reservations on open table. The hostess could not find them and we were still in a seated within two minutes on busy Friday night. You could smell how fabulous this place was going to be by the aroma emitting from the establishment . The wait staff equally impressive and very attentive. Now if I could give the food an 6:5 it was crafted and served to perfection people. The flavor was mouth watering with no need to add extra salt or pepper. The dishes are used & abused where the porcelain is faded from white to grey porcelain (at first I thought the plates were dirty) utensils are cheap & worn out, the food was bland & has no taste or seasoning, as if it was boiled pasta with plain sauce. Unfortunately, my daughter's $47 entrée contained a metal wire bristle from a grill/cleaning brush. Thankfully, she noticed it before swallowing it, but this could have resulted in a very serious injury. To the restaurant's credit, the manager came over promptly, apologized sincerely, and handled the situation professionally. We appreciated that acknowledgment. We also chose not to make a scene or demand anything because we understand that mistakes can happen. What disappointed us was how the situation was ultimately handled. When our bill arrived, my daughter's entrée was actually charged twice. We had to point out the duplicate charge to our waiter. When he returned with the corrected bill, one of the duplicate charges had been removed, but the remaining $47 entrée--the one that contained the metal wire--was still on the bill. We were then told that my daughter's dessert had been made complimentary. While we appreciated the gesture of the complimentary dessert, it seemed to fall well short of what would have been appropriate given the circumstances. A dessert does not compare to paying for a $47 entrée that contained a dangerous foreign object. This review isn't meant to criticize the quality of the food, it was outstanding. It's about the response to a significant food safety issue. I believe most guests would expect that a meal containing a metal wire bristle would be removed from the bill without question. Instead, we left feeling disappointed that the resolution did not reflect the seriousness of what had occurred. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident and that the restaurant reviews its food preparation and grill cleaning procedures to ensure this doesn't happen to another guest.

My new husband & I have eaten at Buca Di Beppo in Claremont, CA a few times & have always enjoyed the food. When we were planning our wedding, we thought Buca would be a great place to do our reception/dinner. Our wedding was small (less than 50 people) & we knew they had large banquet rooms & could handle large groups of peple. All I can say is that it was wonderful!!! In contacting Buca about our event, we dealt with Tarin & Sarah. We couldn't have done it without them. They were there from start to finish. They answered all of the random questions a bride could have for them. They even did a tasting with us to figure out what we wanted to serve our guests. The tasting was fantastic. We went with the 5 course Gloriso package for our dinner. Going into the tasting, we had an idea of what we wanted to serve. By the end of the tasting, we changed our minds on half of the menu. Our server during the tasting was Brandon & he was great. It's been a little less than a month since our wedding but people are still talking about the dinner. The food was fantastic. Most of the people at the dinner had never eaten at Buca before & they loved it. We just ate at Buca tonight for the 1st time since the wedding. We not only got to see & thank Tarin & Sarah for everything they did but we wound up sitting in Brandons section again. I should have written this review sooner but "better late than never". :) We could not have asked for a better experience. Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Inappropriate Photographer Behavior I am writing to formally complain about a deeply uncomfortable and unacceptable experience my family and I had at your restaurant. During our visit, the in-house photographer made extremely inappropriate comments toward my two sisters. He stated that he wanted to take a picture of them and "hang it above his bed at night." This comment was disturbing, unprofessional, and completely crossed any reasonable boundary. My sisters were made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe, and the rest of our group was shocked that such behavior would be tolerated in a family restaurant. To help identify the individual, the photographer had long hair and spoke with an Italian accent. Regardless of who he is, this type of behavior should never occur in any customer-facing role. A restaurant environment should feel welcoming and respectful, not predatory or unsettling. This incident significantly ruined what was supposed to be an enjoyable dining experience. I am extremely disappointed that no safeguards seemed to be in place to prevent or address this kind of conduct. I expect this matter to be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and addressed appropriately to ensure no other guests are subjected to similar treatment. So my family and i came in because we had heard how good the food was. When we came over the first time place was so packed they had a 3hr wait. So we left i called the next day a set a reservation. We came an hr earlier then our reservation and they took us right in which was awesome. We got to walk in threw the kitchen which was odd and cool at the same time. We sat i the wine room which was nice, but this place was super expensive and cold. When we got our drinks one cup was covered in white crusty stuff and my tea had something floating it, when i let the waitress know she started talking to us as if we were children in a patronizing voice. She came back with new cups and drinks and told us the drinks were free. Which was nice of them to do but after that she kept coming back every 10 minutes asking us in her kid like voice what was wrong and if we were happy. Don't get me wrong , that was nice of her to do but she kept bugging us. I just couldn't stand how she kept talking to us as if we were children. She went to all the tables around us and asked if they would like to write a review about there visit but when it came to us it was like bye Felicia lol so i came to yelp to write it out. In all my years of eating take out and dining places never once have I cared enough to take time out of my day to make a Yelp account and rant about how good or bad my service was. Never seemed to be big deal to me, but today was the day. ANYSA deserves to be acknowledged! I went in that place pissed and I expressed my emotions with multiple employees prior to my conversation with ANYSA and not one seemed to be bothered or phased that I was upset kind of like an it is what it is attitude ANYSA over heard my conversation with a young man taking care of me and she stepped in I asked her is she was a manager and she said no but that she over heard the conversation and wanted to take care of me. Again I was very upset so I kind of went off on her which she didn't deserve and she still had the patience and knowledge to recover the mistakessss by just an act of kindness and showing she cared and valued me as a paying customer and mostly as a human. This is THE PLACE for great food and great service! Just finished celebrating family Thanksgiving here for their turkey feast and, holy smokes, my family of 7 had leftovers that will make amazing day-after-thanksgiving-sandwiches. The turkey was juicy and flavorful, the gravy was top notch, and the stuffing (oh my God, the STUFFING) is my all time favorite. Manager Andrew was able to bless us with the highly sought Pope's table - even though we didn't have a reservation for it - and the private-adjacent room really allowed my family to enjoy the ambiance and each other without having to speak over others to hear each other. Server Jason kept the refills flowing and was so attentive to our every need (like extra gravy). Buca di Beppo may not be the first place people think of when they think of knock-out Thanksgiving dinners but I hope that changes. If I could give zero stars I would, but I have to give one in order to leave this message It is the worst!!!! I ordered 72 hours prior to Thanksgiving so that I could ensure that I beat the rush of Thanksgiving orders. Well lo and behold I received a notification five minutes prior to pick up time that my order has been canceled!!! I called the store and I was informed that it was a system error and probably just accepted my order even though it shouldn't have because the orders are flooding. He gave me the option of preparing the food now but picking it up hours later. Clearly, I scheduled the pick up for lunch because my event is at lunch. But it won't be available until dinner or possibly the next day. What am I supposed to do with that much pasta when my party is over?? Where was the common sense in that??? Decided to go to buca di beppo for my brothers birthday, worst decision ever, we had a party of 9. The first thing that happened was it seemed like we were being ignored by the staff after being seated. It took thirty minutes for us to even get our waters after we flagged down one of the waitresses, after 30 minutes of dealing with a non attentive staff we ordered our appetizers and they came out cold! The food was extremely subpar the main courses were luke warm, utensils were never handed out, getting refills was a hassle and every time we asked them for a food item they said they ran out. We were charged for food we never received on the bill and then when we asked for dessert they said they ran out of that to. Extremely poor service definitely will not visit again. read more

Buca di Beppo is the Italian restaurant for large groups, family's or parties. Here is the scoop on this restaurant.... The portions are huge.... The quality of the food is great. Not amazing but simply great. My family have been going to this restaurant for years. Whenever we have a large family function or a school event. It's easy to coordinate a large party of 15-45 people. All portions are family style and seems to be awesome if you're wanting to sample a lot of different dishes among a group of people. If you're out with 2-4 people, I would recommend ordering 1/2 orders unless you're the type of person that like to ingest pounds of pasta. Everything had great flavor, the cochinita pibil taco was so juicy the tortilla stood no chance. They don't have a kids menu so you can mix and match the tacos which are only about $5 each. They do have agua Frescas and I was able to try their strawberry lemonade, which had just the right amount of sweetness. Now the Tres leches cake had no chance wth my girls. Just a great desert and a must try, so leave some room. They have an outdoor patio area but was closed during our visit. The waitress we had was very sweet but could tell they were understaffed and so took about 15 mins before we were greeted to order drinks. A good, little spot for a quick fix on some authentic Mexican food in the area.

The host told us that once a smaller table became available, they would move us. However, when one did open up, our server refused, saying they couldn't move us because they had already started taking our order. That explanation made no sense. Restaurants move guests to different tables all the time if it improves the dining experience. To make matters worse, when we asked if there was anything they could do for my dad's birthday, we were told the kitchen had closed at 9:00 p.m., so there was nothing they could do. There was no alternative, no apology, and no effort to make up for it. It felt like the staff simply didn't care that we were celebrating an important family occasion. Overall, the lack of hospitality and customer service was extremely disappointing. Special occasions are an opportunity for restaurants to create memorable experiences, but instead we left feeling ignored and let down. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
