Is it because the people who reviewed this before me ate WAAAY long ago before me or am I just naive? I'd think the former. Things may have been drastically different back then compared to the two days ago I ate here. This spot has a pretty good buffet although you do get the nagging feeling the food is expired or undercooked or both. I see waitresses constantly replacing food and the scenery isn't so bad. I don't know if it was just a bad case of the munchies or my insatiable love for buffets, but this place is A-Ok in my book. I came here because I heard that they have sushi, which they do, and its pretty tasty. The person that told me about this hunger haven failed to mention that they also offer tons of other delicious food items on their buffet. I came here and tried tons of different items ranging from Sushi to Pork Buns to Chicken Feet to Fresh Mussels, and all were prepared to perfection :) This restaurant almost got 5 stars from me, but I didn't like the fact that they don't rotate food items, instead of putting the old items to the top, they just keep adding fresh food to the top layer; inevitably drying out all the middle and lower food that makes its way to the customer. read more

Food was disgusting, not much to choose from. Silverware not properly washed. Paid $40 for 2 people and ended up not eating a single plate. This place needs more food variety and sanitizing. I agree with the reviewer who said the only "fortuna" to be found might be avoiding food poisoning if you're silly enough to eat here. Friends come here for the oysters, but I can only wonder why. I recently had to do some business in San Leandro and was starving. I first went to Sizzler's in that plaza, but it was the most run down version of a Sizzler's I have ever seen. I walked right out and then this buffet place. It looked alright from the outside and the nice person at the cash register gave me an assuring look. However this turned out to be one of the nastiest places I have ever been. I kept trying different things just to see if all of it was bad. And it mostly was. It just tasted awful, except maybe one dish. I made a trip to the bathrooms to wash my hands. The filth and smell made run out of it. Some of the dishes looked so stale, you'd think they were from yesterday (probably were). A cook with a filthy apron, undershirt hanging out of the back of his dirty pants, came out and stirred the dishes so they didn't look like they had been sitting there for a week. The "roast" sat there dried up under a heat lamp and I am pretty sure nobody's touched it for days. It was a weekend and it cost $14.99 plus tax. There's only a little bit of food to choose from and yet, it seems like they forgot to put ALL the seasoning on their food. (it's either their being cheap and chose to put 1 grain of salt on their food, or they just don't have a supply of salt at all). this place been here a long time now, about 5-6 years ago was good. I am not sure if it changed owner or cooks but the taste of food totally turnaround. It used to be good since there wasn't a chinese buffet around, but since the last 2 years buffets been open more and more around the bay area. It's good for business and businessmen know it's good because "how much can a person really eat...?" This location is the same owner as the one in Oakland Chinatown. I went to the Chinatown one once on weekend it's very long wait almost worse than waiting for "dim sum" if you don't get up way early than everyone else. If I were you I drive a little further down like hayward, union city or even Fremont for a better deal than coming here. sorry I am really not trying to be rude or mean to the owner or the place. This was a horrible experience. Kids were running all around putting their hands in and on food and putting it back in the buffet. The parents were just ridiculous by allowing their children to conduct themselves this way, but I also blamed management because they didn't do anything either. Decent Chinese food buffet. Good selection. Don't expect high-end buffet food... only "simple" all you can eat food. Beware, they only offer free soy sauce as condiments. Okay, if you're not familiar with chinese buffet protocol, remember this. Go for the items that YOU KNOW, have frequent turnover. Like for example, the Chow Mein, the Shrimp Fried Rice, and the other basic dishes that are really popular. My mom absolutely loved this place and the one in Oakland also, which is way, way cleaner than this location. The staff know my parents, who came on a weekly basis. Its chaotic in there and there are a zillion screaming kids running around, but that's alright with me, as long as they don't touch my food. lol. The food is good, for a buffet, and the seafood is very good, for a buffet. On ocassion, I've eaten so much that I had to be rolled out of here. We use to go here before all these chinese/sushi buffets popped up and since then it's gone downhill. The food is not replenished/refreshed often enough. Chicken sits and it looks dried out.
