Had a very nice meal at Bullfinch. Had the Prismatic Spray, it was delicious. Had the old bay wings, delicious. Had the fan favorite, delicious. My wife had the brewer's Cobb salad, delicious! We loved everything we had here, the menu appears simple enough to nail everything on the menu, with enough variety to please almost everyone. Our server was wonderful and appropriately attentive. Food and drink were fairly priced and not a complaint to be had in the aforementioned. Things we noticed, we went early on a Wednesday before 5pm and the restaurant was mostly empty. For how busy it wasn't, it took an extra minute or two for someone to seat us, no big deal as we imagine at the time we are eating limited staff on hand/getting ready for a much busier dinner rush. While we were eating there was a gentleman who was at the hosts table looking at a menu. Don't know if he wanted to eat but he left before possibly anyone even noticed to greet him. A few minutes later a couple arrived and they waited a good 5 to 10 minutes without anyone seeming to see or acknowledge them. They did wait and were seated. I mention those simply because those details do matter for overall experience. And for how enjoyable our meal was and the staff were, I want to see Bullfinch succeed. Came on a Tuesday for lunch. The same nicely setup restaurant and bar is still inviting. The tempting menu has a few unusual items, plus, a short list of their own house-brewed beers. After a couple samples, I settled on the Insight Czech - a 6% pilsner - amber with enough body & flavor. For food, I had a sandwich - Fan Favorite - with its shaved marinated sirloin, red bell peppers, beer-braised onions & mushrooms(few), topped with pub cheese (not much flavor as a topping could be), on a buttered toasted hoagie - 8"? Skimpy filling (stops 1" from each end of the roll), but the meat was fat & gristle-free. It comes with house-cooked seasoned chips, hand-cut fries or sweet potato fries - which I ordered. Positives are no wait to eat here, and a nice server. But there are reasons this is the only restaurant with no wait in the mall. It is filthy, tables are not bussed, and restrooms are hazardous. This lack of quality control extends to the kitchen. Food is an afterthought, cheap burger meat, Chernobyl looking vegetables, "guacamole," and everything salted to edge of palatability. Maybe need to drink beer(s) first to enjoy, then again an 'award winning' beer on menu was not very good either. Never again. read more

I love the atmosphere of the place! We were seated promptly by the guy that ended up to be our server also. His name was Marquel and he was so cheerful and attentive. I mentioned it was our first time here and he offered some beer samples before I ordered a beer, I chose 2 IPA's to try. I liked one of them and ordered that. They had specials and found out they have 1.00 wings on Wednesdays. We ordered 6 wings as appetizers with 3 with Korean sauce and 3 with Carolina spicy sauce with a side of blue cheese. Both flavors were excellent with ample blue cheese. For entree I ordered the shamrock sandwich which was smoked brisket with coleslaw and side of sweet potato fries. It was very tasty with just the right amount of smokey flavor and the coleslaw was a great compliment. Altogether a very enjoyable experience. Came here to sit at the bar and grab a snack before a show down town. It's got the same layout of the bar that was there before. Service was good. We got the pretzel to share which came with just the right amount of beer cheese and was huge, it tasted good. I tried to blueberry sour which was good and my husband got an IPA and liked it. All in all a nice place to grab a meal and drink. We will be back to try more food. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Saturday and we were both a little let down. There is no official drink menu, just a happy hour menu with three or four drinks on it. Our food was amazing, although there was more bun then meat on the pulled piggy sandwich. Our service was not that great and we were the only table in the restaurant. Our waitress was a little slow and forgot the dressing for my salad, it took almost ten minutes for her to come back so I can ask for it. After dinner we moved to the bar and the bartender was very nice and attentive, but again there was a lacking if a drink menu, choices and mixers. I stopped in here on my way out of the mall on a Monday night to get a $5 burger. I was able to speak with Dave who happened to be the owner. He was incredibly friendly outgoing and after our conversation, he gave me a gift for stopping. Burger was fantastic perfectly cooked and great toppings. While I very much enjoyed the one beer (Fog Cloud) that i was able to obtain within a reasonable amount of time, the service left a lot to be desired. The food was quite good, which makes it frustration to have to give a mediocre review because of the service. We very much enjoyed huge pretzel with the IPA infused mustard and queso. We also enjoyed the Fan Favorite, which is delicious variation on the classic cheesesteak. The one knock on the food was that the fries wtight he sandwich (which were an up charge) were not fresh. They were lukewarm, and not crispy. What soured our experience was the manner in which our waiter meandered around the restaurant in no hurry whatsoever to make a our experience fulfilling and enjoyable. Add to that the fact that his rear end was hanging out of his pants! As he walked away form our table I was looking at his underwear, since his pants were hanging down below his rear. While that may be an acceptable fashion for out on the street, it has no place in an establishment that is serving food and drink to people. It is unsanitary and stomach turning all in one offensive misrepresentation of what the food service industry should be. I would not turn people away from trying this restaurant, and will likely give it another go in the future, in hopes that this service faux pas gets corrected. I hope that they are able to make it in that location, as we need these restaurants in this locale. read more

My husband, son and mom are in Syracuse, NY for a family wedding, and we were wasting some time before the rehearsal dinner and decided to have lunch at Bullfinch Brewing. Turned out to be an excellent choice; Christopher was well versed in the beer offerings, and knew the food offerings just as well, down to the condiments on each sandwich. My husband and son had two sours they really enjoyed, and the apps and entrees arrived quickly and were delicious. Four people with very different wants and needs were all very pleased with our meals and drinks. The food was fantastic. We had the duck wantons as an appetizer. Great with the sweet sauce. My husband had the steak and truffle fries. He couldn't say enough good things and he's extremely picky when it comes to steak. I had the Korean pork shank with fried rice. The pork was falling off the bone and the rice was very tasty. I'm not a big beer person so only tried a sip of the Mocha. Tasted just like an iced coffee you'd never know it was beer. My husband had the sherbet and lemon meringue pie sour. Why two stars? Simple. The prices are 50% over what the quality of the food should be. It is decent, but not $20+ a person decent. There were also upcharges on everything they could. Meaning fries and even ketchup are going to cost you a few extra EVEN IF YOU ARE GETTING A BURGER. The beer is ok, but no one I know actually loved their beer. For me I would just drink water or a liquor. Which means the purpose of the place is not there. The service was hilariously bad. No napkins, the waitress Bella pretty much ignored us the entire time, another waitress 're-filled' my sprite with water, etc. Calling me "hun" doesn't fix the massacre of service. The tables were uneven in the outer area, and it was really loud. But in the wrong way loud. We decided to try it again just to see if it would be better. Nope. Service was just as bad, and noise inside was barely better. Food was just ok even with different orders. Again 50% over the price it should be. I joined some board games because it was apparently board game night and heard the same complaints from the board game people. (tables uneven and small, loud, bad service) read more

the restaurant is really cool, love the lighting and the ambiance, the bar looks really nice and i always love a classy type look when you can see the kitchen from the dining room. i got the sour beer which was fantastic ($10) and i got another beer which was just ok ($7). for food i got the chicken sandwich, which comes with fries and is $18. the meal was like, good, but i wouldnt say it was anything worth $18. it said dirty south, but the sauce was just a basic buffalo. i also asked for carolina sauce but never got it - wasnt an issue, didnt want to embarrass the waiter. to be honest, i have had better chicken sandwiches from popeyes for nearly a quarter of the price. my friend got the fajita mac and cheese, which had absolutely zero flavor, and i noticed another reviewer mentioned they had a similar experience with the mac and cheese. it was barely cheesy, and had a surprising lack of flavor. no fajita seasoning, not even any salt and pepper. just noodles, red peppers, chicken. it was soggy, not hot, and lacking in seasoning so much so that it was actually kind of... sweet? not in a good way. we were one of the only tables in the restaurant, i think maybe there were two other tables being served while we were there. since it was pretty dead, the servers were sitting at a table near by, just talking to each other. i wish they had either made themselves look busy or gone back to the kitchen more out of sight to do that, its just a weird look when you can see them just sitting there from where youre eating. i apologize i didnt take any pictures. we were also in kind of a rush, and i dont blame the waiter because he didnt know & i think he was just trying to make sure we didnt feel rushed, but we were trying to catch a movie at the regal so we waited for the check for longer than we should have considering he was just sitting four tables away doing nothing. anyways, would love to love this place so maybe will try again, but as somebody else said it definitely did not live up to an $80 meal. read more

I came here with a few other people on a busy Friday night and we were served by the owner David. He was very personable and knowledgeable! As busy as it was, all the guests seemed to be very relaxed which shows the environment David has set for his business. I really want to support local breweries and restaurants but the food at this place was terrible. It was like eating cafeteria food at higher prices. The Mac n cheese had no flavor. Tasted like it was frozen. My husband had the shrimp wrap and the shrimp was way too big for a wrap and lacked flavor he only managed to eat half. My grandson had the kids chicken tenders and they were so over cooked that they were too hard to bite through the breading. The beer was just ok and does not live up to many of the other breweries in the area. Sitting at our booth, I could see a thick layer of dust along the wooden shelving. I attended this restaurant and we were with a big business party. While waiting for our food, we engaged in watching some of the entertainment on the t.v. My colleagues and I heard lots of commotion coming from the kitchen. The kitchen staff had been fighting. We heard many racial slurs and indecent behavior. We heard profanity, and the employees were yelling about unequal pay, and how there's favoritism among the employees. One person even quit in the middle of his shift, as he left he yelled things like, "this is unfair" "I hope they find out about what you're doing" it worried us and we were skeptical about staying. If this is happening at this restaurant, something has to be done. We watched as the staff completely fell apart. There's no order there. It seems as if the department of labor should get involved and do something. Either way, we got served uncooked chicken, our food was cold, and they kept sending the food to the wrong table. This is my brother in-laws brewery, full disclosure. The beer. is. incredible. Especially the Hefeweizen! Would definitely recommend any of the beers as the brewmaster knows his trade, but especially the Hefe. The first time we went, the pretzel we ordered was a little cold in the middle. But after a little weworking, we returned for the second time, and the pretzel was DELICIOUS and came with garlic butter on it. Just amazing! Don't forget to pick up a Growler to take home, and we can't wait to keep going back :) read more
