On a last minute trip we made our way to Pigeon Forge for an early Thanksgiving week getaway. At 4:30 pm on Saturday with our kids rolling into town, we began to look for a restaurant. Bullfish was open and received good reviews on Yelp. So, @5:45 pm, we headed over. We were seated immediately and our waitress quickly greeted us with drink requests. A table of four we had two orders of filet tips, fish and chips and the brisket burger with an appetizer of the ahi tuna tower. The tuna tower came first, it was delicious. They added their customary bread and our salads came out, all very good. When our main dishes came out, everything looked great as seen by the photos. The filet was a little undercooked for a medium request, so be mindful of that. I like mine medium rare so it was perfect for me, but it was not medium. The brisket burger as delicious and the fries were tasty. The report on the fish and chips was the also very good. We got in, got seated, got our food and we're out within an hour. You get three strips of fish and four large shrimp with no tails, seasoned fries, and three hush puppies. My family and I were in the area visiting for vacation and came here for an early dinner the other night and we didn't have the best experience. We got bread for the table and it was extremely salty and so were the oysters we ordered. It was almost like I could still taste the sand in the oyster. I ordered the fried seafood platter and the shrimp was too salty as well. I tried to continue eating the food but I lost my appetite. Wonderful experience. We had the most awesome server. We were in town for a Veteran's Reunion and were also celebrating a birthday. We started out with an appetizer of the CHARGRILLED OYSTERS. We did not have a great experience here with our food. We sat at the bar as the restaurant was busy for a Sunday night. Bartender was our waiter and was friendly. Whenever we were ready to order we grabbed him and he was accommodating. Appetizer we got were fried green tomatoes and charbroiled oysters. Tomatoes had no flavor and the oysters were not cooked properly. Had to send them back and they still were not cooked 'charbroiled'. All of our entrees were not good either. We trusted the advertising on the menu, trout covered with pistachio. I began to feel sick and asked the waiter to confirm with the cook weather almonds were used; after checking with the cook the waiter confirmed that the trout had almonds. Unfortunately, I am allergic to almonds. My husband talked to the manager, at first she denied that it had any almonds, after pointing out to her that the waiter confirmed that indeed it contained almonds she replied that it was our responsibility to let them know if we have any allergies. Our concerned in pointing out to the management the misadvertising is that a trusting customer could get seriously sick. The Ahi Appetizer was good fresh Sushi grade Tuna! The flavor combination was not right. Needs a little sesame oil, maybe a little soy with some heat? Weak flavor. The Teriyaki Filet Kabobs... Well this would be the reason I give only a one star. Let's start with what is basting vs marinating? So I asked one of the AI engines and this is what I got: Marinating and basting are two different methods used in cooking, particularly when preparing meat. Marinating is a process where meat is soaked in a seasoned liquid, usually a mixture of oil, vinegar or citrus juice, herbs, and spices, before cooking. The purpose of marinating is to add flavor and to tenderize the meat by breaking down its fibers with the acid in the marinade. Back to the Filet - I would say it was basted not marinated for a couple of reasons. It was coated with a thick and only lightly cooked Teriyaki glaze. The meat rare- when I cut open a piece, taking out the center it was only meat flavor. Now onto the real problem - each piece of filet had silver skin in it. What a joke! Chewy does not describe the meat - between being rare and silver skin. I chewed what I could and spit out the rest. I won't eat here again. Filet scrap meet. read more

My wedge salad was one of the best I've ever had. The pralines were a nice touch. The steak we shared was cooked perfectly and did not need any sauce. I will start this review by stating that everything my family and I ate here was so good that we cancelled reservations we had at another restaurant the next day because we didn't want to be disappointed in comparison. We started off with the chargrilled oysters which were pretty good. I will admit, I was raised in New Orleans so I do have a certain expectation for chargrilled oysters. However, these were definitely pretty good to be outside of the city. My father had the Philly and my mother had the pistachio-crusted trout, both of which they said were delicious. I had the ribeye with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were AMAZING and the exact texture I absolutely love. I've only had mashed potatoes that good once before many years ago and have been on the search ever since. My steak was cooked to PERFECTION. I usually get medium when at new restaurants or if it's not specifically a steakhouse and it was not a second overcooked. I couldn't tell you the last time I had a steak cooked that perfectly. This restaurant was GREAT and I will certainly be returning should I find myself in the Pigeon Forge area again in the future! read more
