It's been half a year since my last visit, so I treated myself to the Matcha Hazelnut Truffle and the Apricot-filled donuts. The Brioche dough is a bit dry this year, even though I came an hour after opening. The flavors are still there and still sweet. Nothing much new on the menu after their long summer break. Overall, it was fast, and the price remained over $6 per fancy donut.
This donut shop has been on my bucket list for a while, and I finally got to try it because the seasonal Afternoon Tea series was just too gorgeous to resist! The one crowned with a radish flower is Jardin Fraîche. It's a savoury donut filled with herb cucumber cream, inspired by the tea sandwiches in a traditional afternoon tea set. So refreshing! This was my favorite of the three. I've never had a donut that tasted like this before. The red one is the Raspberry Milk Tea flavor. The tartness of the raspberry balances the sweet English milk tea cream filling perfectly. I also love the tiny scone on top. It's just so cute! The last pink one is Peach Apricot. It was a bit too sweet for me, but my husband liked it. Either way, the handcrafted buttercream flower on top is absolutely lovely. These donuts are definitely pricey at $9-10 each, but the flavors are so creative and every single one is a work of art. I'd happily pay for them again
Had the kimchi croissant masubi. Flaky, crispy and not spicy. A must order. I got the Boston cream filled pastry. Too much cream. But delicious. No seating inside but a few tables out side. Lots of workers that were friendly. Not too sure I will come back
I finally got to try this Fremont staple for the first time after everyone and their moms recommended it. Immediately upon entry, you can see the huge display of neatly arranged donuts, malasadas, and pastries and they all look amazing! So many flavors to choose from that it was a little overwhelming. As others have said, the price point is around $5.50 per piece so have that in mind going in. Ordering was simple enough and servers were kind and patient. Parking is maximum 3 hours and there are some tables and chairs outside to sit and enjoy your goodies. Overall, I think I'm still going to stay loyal to Doughweime in Union City, but these malasadas do live up to the hype. Everything bagel malasada: Surprisingly really good, a light cream cheese filling with everything bagel seasoning on the outside. And the texture of the savory donut was crispy and airy. 9/10 Strawberry cream malasada: Kind of plain, would've been good with strawberry bits inside. 7/10 Biscoff cream malasada: You can taste the real Biscoff crackers in the filling. 7.5/10
I'm still recovering from the sticker shock. I haven't been here in a while, but yesterday I paid $33+ (before tip) for four donuts - that means if I had gotten a dozen, it would've been $100. Not sure if the prices were posted, but apparently I'm the idiot who didn't look hard enough. Didn't get a chance to try them since they were a present for a friend, but I hope they tasted as good as they looked!
I saw a few post about this place and wanted to try it out. All the donuts look very pretty. Very instagram-able. But they are pricey definitely way more than I would usually spend on donuts. Parking can be a little tough. The shop doesn't have seats inside, so you'll have to eat it out. The donuts look amazing but they didn't quite taste as good as they look. More doughy filled than expected, I thought they be like and airy to bite into, but not really. Looking good doesn't translate to tasting good
Coming back here after years, those savory everything donuts are as perfect as I remember. I would still eat these for breakfast everyday if I could. Perfectly puffy with a delicious and fluffy whipped cream cheese in the middle. It looks like a corporate chain but it's actually a local business. (They even wrote it on the wall so people wouldn't confuse it!) Love the local spot delivering such a excellent product in a beautiful space. Great spot!
I made a big ol trek for this one on a workday, as I did a little donut run for my coworkers and I. The shop is pretty small with no seating available but the staff are super kind. They do sell out of flavors, so if you're looking for some of their popular flavors, I'd recommend going early or preordering. I've tried a couple of their donuts and one of their savory pastries and this is my ranking: 1) Tiramisu 2) Kimchi spam puff 3) Cookies n cream 4) Vanilla cream 5) Churro Dulce de leche The tiramisu was a friend's recommendation and it was DELICIOUS. I didn't know it was a filled ring donut prior to buy it but it was a nice surprise! I only wish I'd gotten more than one. The kimchi spam puff was flaky, salty, with a hint of spice that really woke me up in the morning. I personally wish the cookies n cream was a little more vanilla with cookies forward, but it felt a little more chocolate forward. The vanilla cream was pretty standard, so I would say that it's a good basic staple if you're not sure what to get. Churro was my last pick, but it was still a very good donut. Just a little more on the messier end.
this place was the perfect stop in the middle of my long bike ride yesterday. i had it on my radar and was going to be near, so donuts for lunch it was! they were sold out of about half of their options around 2pm but had plenty left, and they were still deliciously fresh then by then. i grabbed their last blueberry cream donut (love a filled brioche) and a caprese bun for something salty. and despite being a total coffee snob (i make my own espresso at home and even roast my own coffee beans in my kitchen!) i tried a gibraltar aka a cortado. i'm surprised i got a pic of the the caprese before i inhaled it. they warmed it up for me, and there was a mouth-watering ripe tomato in every bite. little pesto/basil with the crispy cheese. wow. perfectly crunchy and also juicy. delicious the blueberry cream was awesome. the flavor isn't too sweet, nice light fry with a ring on the outside, good gluten development... all markers of a superbly made donut. and the coffee! wow! when a bakery is good at their food options, i don't necessarily expect great coffee, but they carry verve which is a winner, and a crowd pleaser. not too dark, but still solid enough to hold up to a baked good. milk texture was spot on. overall super impressed with this place. friendly service, and they mask (yay). half a star off for no bathroom. i really wanted some soap and water after all the portapotty use of my bike ride :(
The parking situation can be a problem. By luck we were able to find a spot. I picked up some donuts and pastries from this small shop with just a few patio tables outside. It's a pick up and go service. They most definitely run out of certain items so the best thing to do is look up their menu. It will allow you to see what is available and what's sold out. My family enjoyed everything, their favorites were the banana and biscoff cream filled pastries. Delicious and not too sweet. They have coffee and tea options and I decided on the lemonade tea. Nice and refreshing. Nice spot for something unique and sweet.
The setting of the store reminds me of those cafes you see in Korean dramas. Its very clean, modern and in my opinion a timeless interior design. When you walk in, youre greeted with a huge display case of their beautiful donuts! I came in for the first time the other day and I was greeted with a warm welcome upon walking inside. (It wasn't busy at the time i went so i got to take my time choosing my donuts). Amber was so sweet, she helped me box up my order and went over the flavors of the donuts i chose before closing the box in front of me. I got the black sesame, churro, matcha hazelnut, chocolate hazelnut, melona and the blueberry cream filled. Let me tell you these donuts are perfect if you dont like anything too sweet. My mom who usually splits one donut over the span of 3-4 days to finish, ate her entire blueberry donut in one sitting without even sharing. They do recommend that you enjoy them asap or to place them in an airtight container so they don't dry out. I did not do so, so my donut dried out (eating a dry but delicious day old donut as i write this). All in all my experience was amazing and I will definitely be coming back to try that guava donut if its there!!! I also recommend checking out and exploring their website. They have a gallery of the donuts they've created and case studies of how they come up with their flavors!
I was in the area with a friend yesterday so we decided to stop by as I had this place bookmarked. There's street parking (2 hour limit) in front but there's also a lot in the back. We both found parking easily when we arrived. There are so many good choices here; all of the donut flavors looked really good! It was definitely hard to choose, but I ultimately went with a Pistachio Cream, a Guava Cheesecake, and a Chocolate Hazelnut. All of the donuts were soft and fluffy. The Pistachio Cream was a cream-filled donut with sugar sprinkled on the outside. The cream was really good and the amount was perfect. The Guava Cheesecake had a guava glaze and biscuits on top. There was also a cream layer on the inside. Although I don't usually go for guava desserts, this was good. The Chocolate Hazelnut was more simple and didn't have a filling like the other two. I also got to try the Tiramisu and Black Sesame that my friend got. The Tiramisu was similar to the Guava Cheesecake in that it had the cream layer on the inside. The Tiramisu was delicious. The Black Sesame was also really good; I liked that the black sesame flavor was strong.
Bun Appetit has been on my radar for quite some time now. Definitely a sweet treat that's worth splurging on every now and then, as they have very unique flavor combos, and some of your more traditional flavors. We tried the filled pistachio donut and passionfruit donut. The pistachio filled bun was great, not overly sweet, which I enjoyed. You definitely receive a taste of the rich pistachio butter/cream, and it balances well with the airiness of the actual bread. My personal favorite was the passionfruit donut, because you REALLY taste the passionfruit. Definitely premium donuts sourced with real ingredients, and you can tell with each bite. We came around 2pm and they still had quite a few donuts left, and we were grateful we got to choose from their whole selection. Service was quick and efficient! I'd love to come back in 2026 to try their guava flavor, and any speciality flavors they concoct.
It's been a while since we've been here but we're glad to come again and try their donuts. This place is on Fremont Blvd and parking is at the back of the establishment shared with tenants from neighboring apartment buildings. The place also doesn't have any indoor dining and they have several chairs and tables outside the store. In the morning, you've to wear a light jacket to keep you warm. There was a small line once we got there however the service was very fast. We had their matcha and Irish cream-filling donuts and a couple of their brewed coffee. The donuts are good and the filling comes out the moment you take a bite. The coffee is also perfect for the morning donuts. The selection is enormous and if you have a sweet tooth, you'll enjoy this place. I can't wait to try most of them and will come back again to enjoy their donuts. read more

Checked this place out with a buddy since it seemed like a luxury donut place to try similar to Doughweime and that was closed for the day. There were a few people in front of us when we arrived and total wait time for our stuff was about 15 minutes. We ended up getting the guava cheesecake, passion fruit glazed, and mango cream donuts, which were all below average in terms of enjoyment. For the guava cheesecake, the cookie they top the donut with is way too hard compared to the donut so it just slides off when you try to eat it. The only saving grace was the clawingly sweet guava glaze mixed with the tartness of the cream cheese. The other donut flavors were just average for us. I don't know if it was an off day or if all the donuts are served cold, but the texture of the donuts when they are cold is not appetizing. The dough for every donut we got was tough, dense, and flavorless. For $5+ per donut, I expect a lot more than what we paid for. read more

Visited on a saturday morning and the line was out the door! They have a wide variety of options ranging from more traditional donuts to the more couture ones. I opted to try the guava cheesecake, blackberry pistachio, orange creamsicle, and the jalapeño cheddar biscuit. All were phenomenal, but the biscuit and the guava one really stood out for me. My only hesitation from coming back again and again are the exorbitant prices, they range from $4-$9 ish per item, which can add up quick when building a box. I think the donuts are pretty worth it, but I don't see myself coming back regularly. As for the place itself, it's takeout only and there's no seating inside, the line moves quick tho & recommend coming earlier in the morning to get any flavors you want! read more
Bun Appétit is located in an area called Artist Walk, which contains housing & retail stores. The display case showcases all their artisan crafted donuts. They specialize in brioche donuts, and they have amazing flavors and seasonal flavors as well! They are so pretty, and the little signs describing the donuts are so artistic and professional. The donuts come at a hefty price point ($3 - $9), but they are special. The service is always welcoming and friendly. I left a negative review here years ago, but after giving Bun Appetit another try, I have to admit -- they've truly won me over. Their donuts are absolutely delicious, and the flavors are so creative and unique that you really can't find anything like them anywhere else. My only small complaint is that they're on the pricier side, but the quality and taste definitely make them worth the occasional treat. After stopping by a local coffee shop, I was craving a sweet treat. I had heard a lot about this donut shop with really interesting/creative flavors so I wanted to give it a try. Excitedly we entered and looked at all of our options. We grabbed a few of the savory items, like the kimchi and spam pastry and the brunch pastry as well as some donuts like the dubai raspberry, mango, ube, and lemon merengue. However, after trying these items, I was left a bit disappointed. The color of the doughnuts was rather dark, which explained why they had become so dry and stale even though most donuts had a filling. The doughnuts were also not filled in a great way. Most of them were only about 50% to 70% filled with many sections having absolutely no filling. The dubai chocolate donut was the biggest culprit in this case. Though it was 12 DOLLARS, only about half of the doughnut actually had any filling. The flavors overall were good, however I definitely expected more out of the texture. The savory pastries in my opinion were about the same level where there were certain delicious aspects, but a lot felt lacking. The kimchi and spam pastry for example had maybe a mere teaspoon of kimchi. The pricing is also a bit mischievous, as they only have tiny labels for each flavor and the prices are in about size 20 font. I would not come back unfortunately, but that may have just been a bad batch. read more
Delicious!! Came in just an hour before closing on a Saturday so there weren't many options left, but the donuts we got were SO yummy. You can tell that these pastries were crafted thoughtfully. My mango donut didn't taste artificial and the chocolate donut was complex. Both were still so soft and not too sweet nor too heavy! We will definitely be back- these donuts were so yummy. This is my favorite donut spot! I've been coming here for over a year, and it's the only place I truly love for donuts. The Tiramisu donut is my absolute favorite, and their holiday specials are always creative and delicious. Highly recommend if you're looking for donuts that are both fun and flavorful! read more
Great spot for flavored donuts you don't often see at your typical donut shop. Creative flavors that really stump you when need to decide which flavors you want to try because you just want to try all of them. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area but be prepared to pay a premium for these fun, tasty pastries. The banana-offee donut costed me $9. read more
Super pleasantly surprised by how amazing these pastries were!! Truly "not-too-sweet" while still being full of flavor. The Strawberry Cream was definitely my favorite of the two doughnuts we got, the other being the Guava Cheesecake (which was still quite good!). The dough was pillowy and soft while still maintaining its form when eating (it didn't collapse on itself and make a mess) and was filled with a delicious cream that tasted like strawberry panna cotta. I'm not always a fan of strawberry desserts but I am SO glad we got this. The Guava Cheesecake was filled with a cream cheesy filling and covered entirely with some sort of guava coating. I appreciated that the guava flavor was nice and prominent, though it was a little difficult to eat because of the sticky exterior. The cashier at the front was also super friendly!! Great range to choose from. They have a wide range of donut flavors. I kids loved the donuts. From price point you may argue it's bit expensive but for the service and quality of the donuts you may find the $ to be fair. Service is quick, staff is very courteous. read more

We came to check out this place on a early Saturday morning after a walk. I was so excited to try this place finally that I looked up all the flavors I wanted to try. I got a caramel latte and it was great. In person, the options were endless and so many flavors! We tried the passion fruit donut with the filled flavors of Strawberry, ube, and banana. The strawberry was definitely my favorite. It was a yummy dough with flavorful dessert filling. The service was quick and efficient. There are tables outside and it was nice to enjoy the treats right away! read more

Found this place on google so decided to give it a try ! The shop is super cute and aesthetic ! They're known for their donuts and croissants and you can also pre order online. Me and my friend first time here and surprised that they have so many flavors. Personally I think it's on the pricier side, but the staffs are super nice and the donuts are rlly heavy. We dropped in to Bun Appetit because we got lost looking for a different shop, and I'm so glad that we did. We tried a variety of donuts and pastries, but the winner for us was the kimchi spam puff - it's super delicious! Next time we will pre-order several of these, and as I understand it, they are only available Fri-Sun. In addition to sweets and pastries, we also enjoyed some avocado toasts and iced coffees for lunch. Everything here is a bit high-priced, but I hate to complain when the quality is this good. read more

Bun Appetit offers a wide variety of decorative sweets. I arrived early to take the time to explore what the store has to offer, and I was surprised by how beautiful everything looked! I tried the bananaoffee and eggnog donuts, and both flavors were excellent. However, I didn't like the gingerbread man cookie because it was soggy. Nonetheless, overall taste, I enjoyed it. Great selection of unique donuts and other pastries. Everything is a bit pricey but worth it when you feel like having a treat. I tried the Mango Sticky Rice donut and it was delicious! I'll definitely make sure to try different flavors the next time I'm in the area. They also have coffee/tea beverages on the menu. The staff was friendly, quick and efficient. Also, there is no indoor seating or restroom for anyone wondering. read more
Came to this place to check if it's better than San Diego's Malasadas! Filling wise is amazingly good. Staffs are friendly and the place is upscale. The parking lot is small because it's sharing with the condos. But overall it's good. Highly recommend if you don't want to taste their malasadas and save traveling to so cal or Hawaii. read more

I knew from the first bite that this would be a five star review. I tried the injeolmi, matcha Mont Blanc, and eggnog pistachio donuts. My favorite was the injeolmi, which had a soybean cream filling and mochi pieces inside the donut, and soy bean powder and some almonds on top. The nutty flavor profile + the slight texture from the mochi + the light, fluffy donut itself was the best combo. I would definitely get this again. The matcha Mont Blanc, while good, I felt like it had too much going on, with the matcha, cream, white chocolate, and chestnuts. I was worried that the white chocolate would make it too sweet, but was pleasantly surprised to find that wasn't the case. (A big plus of all these donuts was that they were not overly sweet.) I am so so looking forward to coming back and trying some other flavors! read more
It was a "let's try a new place" type of morning so my husband and I made our way to Bun Appetit. I do recommend checking their IG just in case they make any store announcements. On our drive there, I saw they posted a notice that their oven wasn't working so there wouldn't be pastries over the weekend. We were going mainly for the donuts so this didn't stop us. They can sell out of certain flavors during the day, it was 1pm and we snagged the last Irish Cream and Dubai Blackberry donut. We were hesitant on getting the Dubai Blackberry but so glad we did, it ended up being my favorite! I really liked the quality of the donuts, the flavors of each one were really good and I didn't feel gross or heavy after eating one. We also got Calamansi juice and oolong tea. If you like tarty drinks, the Calamansi juice is for you, really citrusy and will cleanse the palate. Great place, staff was nice and I would definitely come back to try more flavors. I got my eye on the Everything Donut next because it's savory. read more

I've wanted to try this place out for a long time since the first time they sold out of all the donuts. Upon arriving on a Saturday afternoon, there was a line but luckily not too long. It's great as there is a parking lot right behind the bakery too, but make sure it's not a residence's parking. My boyfriend and I ordered a few to share. I love passion fruit, so I had to try that flavor out. Luckily there was 2 more and I was able to try one! We also tried the strawberry cream, and a hazelnut chocolate. In my opinion, I enjoyed the fruit flavors more. They were more unique, sweet enough, and fluffy. The chocolate one was good, but it didn't taste extremely special. I really enjoyed the strawberry cream as it was so cute and the cream filling was so good. The price of the donut was more on the upscale price. But the quality was good, especially when you eat it fresh. The flavors they have is also great with how unique some are! It was great finally able to try the donuts out~ read more
My husband got takeout from here after a trip up to Fremont. It was in the afternoon so a lot of classic flavours were already sold out. But the croissant was so flaky and nice! I'm usually sweet over savoury but this savoury croissant really surprises us! The mango was really good, not too sweet! The churro was OK. Excited to go back earlier in the day to check out the larger selection!!! read more

This place had a line out the door and well deserved. The doughnuts are pretty pricey, but they're gourmet. Theyre around $5-$6 per doughnut. there was one that was $9.50 each! They're decorated beautifully though and are very good. I got the churro, tuxedo and injeolmi. My favorite was the churro by far. the dough is very fluffy and fresh and they rotate flavors often. I came specifically to try the blueberry one I've seen in the reviews, but they didn't have it. nor the lychee. i am happy with the doughnuts i ended up purchasing though. I had the dalgona latte (not pictured on their menu boards, but there was a sign next to the register). it was very tasty, but sort of a pain to stir yourself. I will definitely be back. read more
I finally had a reason to try Bun Appetit. One thing is clear they've put some serious thought into their creations. The donuts, well, they're good - not mind-blowing, but good. There's a nice variety, and you can tell they're going for that artisanal touch. On a Sunday there was a little bit of a line but that was expected. It's in a plaza with shared parking that makes finding parking a little difficult but manageable. Prices are expected as these are what some might say fancy donuts. ORDER black sesame caramel butter croissant churro fig brie and wine kimchi spam puff banana bread Overall None of these flavors hit me with a wow factor. There was an ube filled one that I'd be willing to comeback and try along with a cup of coffee. If I had to recommend something the kimchi spam puff would be something unique to try then again it's not a donut and left me wanting a spam musubi. Worth trying if you put your food on ig or want to try fancy donuts with friends. read more
This donut shop serves specialty donuts and their prices tend to be between $4 to $10 compared to the generic ones from a typical donut shop. I love how they displayed the names of the donuts and their prices. The most expensive ones tend be more foreign since the staff display countries these donuts are from and also how the donuts are made. I got Passion Fruit Donut ($4.50) and Iced Caramel Latte. The donut had so much icing that I can taste it a lot and the latte tastes good. The service is fast. The atmosphere is alright for a donut shop, but I do believe that they should add seatings in the future. Overall, this is a great donut shop to try out gourmet donuts in Fremont! Bourgeois donuts. I couldn't help myself but try these when I was in the area so that I could bring some home to the family. While you're going to spend a lot (the cheapest here was the Chocolate Hazelnut at $4.50), they could be worth it if you have a sweet tooth and love donuts. Now let's get down to business. I'll break it down for you guys donut by donut. *Chocolate Hazelnut: $4.50-- This was pretty good coating of dark chocolate mixed in with actual bits of hazelnut. It tasted like chocolate cake. The texture was on the bread-y side and we gave this one a 4/5 rating. Cookies & Cream: $5.00-- Sugar dusted on the outside, this was more of like a puff pastry with a thick Oreo cream filling on the inside. Surprisingly, it wasn't super sweet and we all appreciated this. 5/5 rating. Korean Injeolmi: $6.00-- This was the most interesting in taste among all of the donuts. The associate recommended to try it since it was the most unique. None of us knew what "Injeolmi" was and after doing some googling, we found out that it's a popular Korean rice cake dessert. Without hating on this too much, the filling tasted like a combination of sesame oil and peanut butter mixed together. It's that kind of interesting when you take one bite and don't want to offend the cook because you don't care for it. The cook then asks you how it was and out of consideration you say "thank you it was great" (while inside you're thinking just the opposite). You then promptly push it aside on your plate before never touching it again. This was the case with this donut. Is it possible to have a "savory" donut? If that was the goal, then they hit it. 0/5 rating. Banana Cream (Popular): $5.00-- We were told that this was one of the most popular donuts here and it didn't disappoint. Basically it tasted like the filling of a Banana Cream pie in a donut. This was similar to the Oreo in that the outer shell was sugar dusted and the filling was pudding like Banana cream. Loved it, however if you could have me pick between this donut and a Banana Cream pie, I would probably pick the pie. 4.5/5 rating. Guava Cheesecake (Popular): $6.00-- The *best* out of all the donuts we tried. Someone said it best when they said that it reminded him of Porto's Guava Cheese roll, only in donut form. The inside of this donut had a sweet cheese cream filling and the top of this had a guava glaze with Les vergers Boiron puree. They also topped this with Maria cookie crumble. This wasn't super sweet either-- If we could do it all over again, this we would be the one to get. Amazing. 5/5 rating. read more
These donuts are like edible works of art - almost too pretty to eat! While moving through the line, I had so fun looking at all the donuts in the glass case, each one more adorable than the last. Every donut had its own personality. With flavors ranging from chocolate hazelnut to mango cream to peach blossom, there's something for everyone here. Worth a stop if you're in the area! read more

I ordered the guava cheesecake (10/10) so good and filling. The ube cream (9/10) filling was extremely yummy not too sweet but the donut itself was so hard to bite into and over-fried. The spam kimchi croissant (9/10) was juicy with a good piece of spam and they heated it up for you but would not order again because not anything special about it. The mocha bun (5/10) was very sad ): There was almost no chocolate filling inside when I cut down the middle but overall chocolate taste from the bun was there. The service is good. Even though they are closed Monday and Tuesday they are open from 8am-2pm(or sold out) on Wednesdays.

They are tables and chairs outside. Pretty area to sit at.

I don't think they deliver, but they are open FRI/SAT/SUN (closed Monday-Thursday I believe) for walk-ins to-go. They also offer an online menu to pre-order.

I believe 2% and no non-fat milk, but you can also call and ask.

How do I order a coffee in the mug? I ordered once and said "for here" but got it in the to go cups...
Sorry about the confusion. For here cups, we only have 8oz and 12oz sizes. 16oz drinks will be served in to go cups.
Where is the parking located? Or is it street parking?
At the side/back of the building or some street parking also. Just do not park in the covered parking spots. Those are for the people that live there.
What times are the Matcha Cube available on the weekends?
They're usually available between 8am-9am.
Do they serve cake as slices or whole?
They don't really have whole cakes. They have individual pastries but not cakes.
