This isn't a very big restaurant, but it was pretty busy when I stopped by. The place still looked fairly new, and everything inside was clean. The bowl of bún riêu was a good size, and I thought it was pretty good. It may not be my favorite, especially compared with Bún Riêu Gánh near Bến Thành Market in Vietnam, but I thought it was a little better than some of the other bún riêu places nearby. I was happy to see morning glory and banana blossom served on the side, just the way I like my bún riêu. The staff were friendly, and the food came out quickly. Parking really depends on what time you go. Sometimes it's easy to find a spot, and other times it can be a little challenging during busy hours.

I was craving bun rieu and came here with my family. It satisfied the craving but it wasn't the best I've had. It's not that potent in its flavor. I'd give it 3/5 stars. My brother has a nut allergy and sometimes the paste they use to make bun rieu triggers the allergy. He was affected by this bun rieu. It was $69.88 for 4 bowls.

Bun Rieu Ganh is such an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. You know this restaurant is bomb when there's only two items on the menu - bun rieu or bun canh. We came here on a Tuesday afternoon and the restaurant was packed with Vietnamese families. We obviously got the bun rieu and a nuoc mia (sugarcane juice). The bun rieu came out quickly and was piping hot. The noodle soup came with so much various proteins and a side of fresh veggies/herbs. The broth was so umami and everything you would want from a crab tomato noodle soup. I love bun rieu and this restaurant exceeded my expectations. I also love the sugarcane juice that had a hint of calamansi.

This place didn't give me a menu and then asked what I wanted to eat. I assumed the only thing they serve is bun rieu, but later on, I saw an overheard other people ordering something different like canh bun and fried rice-- wished we were informed there were other dishes even if we knew we were just going to come to eat bun rieu-- just to know or see! Overall, service is not good even if they have a lot of people working. They were really busy all the tables were taken except one when I came. I will say though, this is the best restaurant bun rieu I've had in SoCal! If you are a fan of this dish, definitely come, try it! It is so delicious. It comes with pork blood cubes, cha (pork load) morning glory/ong choy, tofu, and some pork crab meatballs. I just wished the portion of noodles was bigger-- noodle portion is smaller than usual. There were a lot of condiments on the table which I appreciated, and they gave all of the vegetables on the side with amazing fresh herbs. Instead of regular limes, they used calamansi limes, which was a really nice touch and definitely enhanced the umami flavor of the shrimp paste and the broth.

They only specialize in one dish and that is all that they serve. No menu. We didn't even know how much each bowl cost until we paid for it. Broth was pretty light. I've never seen kumquat to squeeze in the broth before. I needed more.. love the variety of toppings in the dish. It had all the components of what is in a bun rieu dish.

To whoever uploaded menu photos to Yelp: Who hurt you? Why did you lie? When we showed the servers the photos of the menus, they looked at us like we were showing them blueprints to Area 51 and insisted no menu has ever existed in this dimension. Instead, they hit us with the ultimate minimalist ultimatum. You get two food choices and two drink choices. That's it. You are either Team Bun Rieu or Team Bun Canh. Since we are a highly cooperative cult, we split it down the middle: 4 and 4, all the way across. The Food Breakdown (Prices Unknown): 01. Bun Rieu Ganh (not sure what the dish cost was) - 3.5 Stars - The broth arrived tasting clean, which is a polite way of saying it was bland. But then you introduce the "Stronger Than Death" Shrimp Paste and chili. WARNING: A microscopic speck will alter your DNA. Do not dump the entire amount of sauce they give you into your bowl...a little goes a very long way. Right as we pulled up the noodles, a stray hair made a cameo appearance. The server panicked and swapped it out for a new bowl, we appreciated it. 02. Bun Canh (not sure what the dish cost was) - 4 Stars - This looked identical to the first bowl but tasted infinitely better. It came with water spinach, fried shallots, and a broth that actually had a personality. Perfect balance of umami and sweetness, this was the MVP of the table. The Kitchen MVP: Whoever is back there washing the herbs deserves a corporate promotion, a dental plan, and a key to the city. I have never seen such pristine, sparkling vegetables at a Vietnamese restaurant. 03. Sugarcane Drink (not sure what they charged us) - 4 Stars - Refreshing, semi-frozen, and not aggressively sweet. Highly approved. 04. Chrysanthemum Tea (not sure what they charged us) - 4 Stars - Served in a bottle instead of a cup, tasted vaguely like coconut, and kept us alive. Lightly sweetness and color but very refreshing. PARKING - It's in the same plaza as Seafood Palace (IYKYK) and next to the pool hall. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Look, just keep repeating the mantra: "They are in a soft opening... they are in a soft opening..." The service was pure, unadulterated chaos. Spoons were missing. Napkins were a myth. Drinks were forgotten. At the end of our meal, they just hit us with a random number, didn't give us a receipt, and we blindly handed over our credit cards. I'm pretty sure I paid for a bowl of noodles and a small fraction of their commercial lease. VERDICT - If you don't speak Vietnamese and don't like Culinary Russian Roulette, wait a few months until they hone down on their operations. The Bun Canh was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way unless I was already next door. We all agreed that the broth was luke warm and not steaming hot. It would taste better if the broth was steaming hot. Dear Owners: Please buy a single sharpie and a piece of cardboard and write down what you sell. It would be great to know what the ingredients are for the Non-Viet folks. We believe in you.

Both for me! jk lol or am I...

Bun Rieu Ganh specializes in, you guess it, Bun Rieu and it's absolutely, hands-down the best Bun Rieu in town! As I'm still fairly new to some of the Vietnamese dishes, my girlfriend is the one who recommend this spot and you can count that we'll be coming back again when we're in the mood for some Bun Rieu! What is Bun Rieu? As for as my knowledge, Bun Rieu is a crab rice noodle soup with a meat broth mixed with tomatoes, shrimp paste and fish sauce! Included are meatballs made with shrimp, crab and pork. Then you have your pork blood (the brownish cube) and it can't be a Vietnamese dish with the herbs and veggies! If you enjoy spice, I highly recommend adding in some chili to your soup for that added kick! For the 2 times we've visited, the one thing we immediately noticed is that locals flocked to this restaurant and we already knew this is it. This is the spot. There will be a wait as it is a smaller restaurant but it's worth the wait. Atmosphere is calm with some noise level but for the most part it won't distract you from enjoying your meal. Keep in mind this is the only dish they serve (as of June 6, 2026) and are the BEST at. Compliments to the Chef! There are many other nearby restaurants and boba shops nearby so plenty of places to visit after eating. Parking is pretty open but the spots near the front are always nearly taken so you'll probably have to park more inner if you're visiting a little after dinner time rush kicks in. One thing is for sure, we'll be visiting again real soon! Thank you everyone at Bun Rieu Ganh for a delicious meal!

This restaurant serves a couple of items, but the Bun Rieu is the true star here. One of the best bowls of bun rieu I've had. Very clean broth with plenty of ingredients. Adding the chili really gave it a spicy kick. The shrimp paste is stronger than what I'm used to, so a little will go a long way. Service was super quick. Our food came out within 5 minutes of placing our order. Restaurant was clean. There's a bit of a wait since they do get pretty busy, especially on the weekends.

    Amy N.

I came to bun rieu ganh today with my mom on a Tuesday morning and the wait was really long! I was hoping for it to be bomb but honestly I've had better bun rieu at other places sadly. I feel like the flavor just isn't strong and lacks depth, the cha luo and rieu are good though! The broth is ok.. but it's fine theres a first time for everything.

I was searching yelps - hot and new restaurants and discovered this soup shop on route to Little Saigon. They just opened a few days prior so the timing was perfect. Parking is shared since it's located in a sizable strip center. The inside is newly remodeled, and they did an impressive job. Currently the menu is only bun Rieu but I was impressed with the flavor, quality of broth and even the condiments were fresh and enhanced the soup. I was really impressed with the service and quality of the Bun Rieu here, so this is my new go to eatery for Bun Rieu.

Complimentary dessert: silken tofu in syrup with boba.

They are still in their soft opening phase, as they currently only serve their bun rieu noodle soups (tomato crab vermicelli rice noodle soup) at the moment. Our server said they will have their full menu available in about 2 weeks. Regardless, the reason my family and I tried this place, was because of their focus on bun rieu, a regional dish of Vietnam. So we each had a bowl of the bun rieu and it was very authentic and delicious. Broth had depth and was not overly oily (which can happen with some places). The tofu, pork blood jelly cubes, steamed pork loaf (cha), fried tofu, and crab topping were made well, cooked right and flavorful. They served the correct veggie/herb toppings too: banana blossom, stripped ong choy, mung bean sprouts, Vietnamese purple shiso leaves, and slices of kumquat (instead of lime or lemon). They also gave us complimentary desserts: silken tofu in syrup with boba. Venue is cozy, so there was a wait of about 15 minutes for our midweek lunch. Plenty of parking in this outdoor shopping plaza.

Of all the BUN, BuN rieu had always been my fav. When my mom asked me to try this place, I said sure without hesitation. We came on a weekday and there was a line. We waited about 20 minutes to get a table. Right when I walked in, I smelled a very strong odor. Not sure if that was a good thing... I love crabs, but the smell didn't smell so good. I think they only served Bun Rieu during my visit. Not sure about now. When the bowls arrived, it looked decent. A very simple bowl of bun rieu. A little of everything. Portion was honestly small for the price, imo. The broth was ok, imo. My mom thought it was a tad too sweet. Growing up eating bun rieu, I wouldn't say this place was not authentic. It was just pretty average, imo. Service was whatever. Nothing to praise about. Will return if someone wanna try it...

They only served Bun Rieu as they're still in soft opening mode. Place garners a waitlist as it was fully booked during my visit. The Broth has a slight sweetness to it. The fermented shrimp paste and satay chili oil definitely gives more depth to the flavor. Quality 5/5 Fresh herbs Portions 5/5- Generous as consisted of 3 blood cubes, 3 plump fried tofus, and 2 crab patties balls, and 1 piece Viet ham aka (cha). Taste 4/5 They serve a lot of broth which is nice if you want to pack a small 14 ounce to go container to savor for later consumption. Service Fast- while team works in unison. What could improve is if they add more ground pork to their crab patties. They a have different twist on their style as there are small morsel of dried shrimps added to the bowl. Overall a great place for Bun Rieu! Be wary you may get hungry soon after as these types of soups aren't heavy in filling.

The servers are aunties that won't check on you after every bite but will come over the second you raise your hand. I took my mom for lunch and we dug in a little too quick - photos were snapped after we've made a small dent on the food. We got the Seolleongtang and soondae platter which was plenty to share between two people. We ended up taking half of the soondae platter home and enjoying it for breakfast the day after. For those not familiar with Seolleongtang, the soup comes out very basic. You're given a bucket of scallions, a little pot of salt, and shaker of ground pepper to season the broth as you please. I recommend adding a few spoonfuls of the radish kimchi sauce. Speaking of the banchan, Jong Ro prepares some of the freshest and most flavorful banchans on the street. I wish they offered a menu option that was just a bowl of rice and bottomless banchan. The soondae was perfectly springy, paired with a salted shrimp sauce and flavored salt dip. The platter also came with boiled (or steamed?) pork belly, pig ear, and other pork innards that were nicely cooked. I love restaurants like this because they are simply good at what they do. Nothing is over-the-top. There is always a constant stream of customers. The times I've gone have been during your typical slow hours and the place was always 60% full. I imagine the house is full during dinner time or on weekends and rightfully so. Definitely stop by if you're looking for a heartwarming and belly filling comfort meal.

They were actually one of the first places around to serve this style of noodles, and I've enjoyed it for many years. However, over time, I feel like the quality isn't quite the same as it used to be. Maybe the prices are a little lower now, but the portions also seem noticeably smaller. I recently stopped by in the evening for some snacks. The atmosphere was open, casual, and lively, although both the service and the food seemed a little slow coming out.
