Buono's does a good job of bringing that second style to Gilbert, and that's not a bad thing. Thin-ish crust, good cheese and not too much sauce (white pizza with sausage and spinach is ). Delivery is really hit and miss so I'd recommend dining in or picking it up yourself. read more

We tried this place last night after reading all of the positive reviews. We must've hit a bad night because our pizza was nothing more than average. It was delivered lukewarm via Door Dash, I know that's not the restaurants fault. However, the bottom was burnt, and only half the pizza was cut, it's like they just gave up on it! I only tried pizza this time. While it wasn't my absolute favorite Neapolitan pizza in the Valley, it was solid. I'd go 3.5 stars if that was an option but bumping to 4 since it's not. Ingredients seemed fresh but the 'fresh mozzarella' on the Margarita wasn't the super soft kind. I noticed all of the pizzas say fresh mozzarella, so it seems they are referring to mozzarella that is fresh vs true fresh mozzarella. I also got a GOAT which was a bit overwhelming on the goat cheese for me. I found the crusts oddly perfect for Neapolitan pizza. Do they have a machine making these? I was looking for somewhere to take my kiddo for pizza and Buono's was rated the best pizza in the area, so I went here. Service was fine. I don't think they're used to children being there. I've been hearing about Buono's for years, and as a New Yorker for 23 years, I have been suspicious and shrugging them off, but I tried it today and I wholeheartedly approve! I tried the cheese slice, the Sicilian slice, and the black and white cookie, shipped from a bakery in Queens, where I am from! Let me tell you, every bite tasted so right. I felt like I was back home. The Sicilian was so fresh and puffy, and the cheese slice folded like pizza is supposed to. The Queens and Manhattan decor on the walls doesn't hurt, either! Two times here the pizza is amazing and I know pizza I'm from NYC this is real NYC pizza JOINT anyplace you can find a great slice joint in AZ ( hardly any) the owner are fantastic and the staff of young ladies were outstanding. We stumbled upon this place while looking for another pizza place. We met the owner, found out a little history about Buono's and decided to go ahead and order some food to take home. We ordered a Stromboli the one with four meats and provolone cheese and a Calzone with meatballs cut up in it. The portions were large and there was plenty of filling in both. Good flavor and the dough was well done without being overdone. The interior is small and spartan but if you eat in the food is the real draw. Overall a fun experience and a good find. read more

This was the first order at Buono's and I choose them from a list of top 10 pizza's places in Mesa . I ordered a large 4 item pizza with medium crust and told them it was a takeout and they told me it would be ready in 30 mins. I arrived, noticed that it was a cozy little place to dine in, they had the football game going and the people that were their seemed happy enough. I walked up to the cash register and waited to pay for my order and get my pizza. I was the first one in line and a line was forming behind me but they had 1 person doing everything upfront and it took a while to get service so 20 minutes later I carried out my large pizza in a nice white box and headed home. Three of us dished up when I arrived. None of us were overwhelmed with satisfaction. The crust was burnt but the slice still had to be held with 2 hands to get it to your mouth and was tough to bite into due to the crust. The toppings were mediocre at best and the taste was sadly unpleasant. We 3 who just spent 30$ for a large pizza each had 1 piece except for 1 extremely hungry boy and he had 2 and the rest found there way to the trash for Monday Pickup. My take is that you can't believe top10 ten lists & You have to catch & cook a lot of frogs before you get decent frog legs to eat. I did get 1 pizza slice magnet. Stopped in here before heading over to fox. The pizza is good, but the garlic bread is where it is at. So good! Its enough to share, but you may not want to. The staff were very caring and accommodating. If you are ever headed to fox, stop here first. No sense in getting a cigar and also being hungry. Not worth the risk. Just come here instead. read more

I moved to AZ 2 years ago from NY and this is the only pizza I'll get here in AZ. Nothing else is even comparable. I love the atmosphere of a NY style subway and the people are always so friendly. My husband and I usually split a large pie with mushroom and pepperoni, mozzarella sticks and I'll always get a slice of white to go to eat for lunch the next day. We ordered the vegetarian and a gluten-free crust with jalapeños and pepperoni with fried mushrooms app. Now getting delivery is by far not the same as dining in, but we did enjoy our pizzas - just popped em in the oven when we were ready to eat! I am still looking for that ultimate pizza in Arizona but Buono's was really good. Their pizza is larger than most and they actually provide toppings (unlike Grimaldi's). You could actually pick a slice up without the toppings falling off and you did not have to fold the pizza to eat it. The flavor was excellent and the sliced sausage was a bonus. I wish the crust had a little more flavor, and that is the only reason I did not rate 5 stars. The service was 5 stars all the way. The wait staff was super attentive and went out of their way to ensure we were happy with our meal. They spent time at each table chatting with customers. I would recommend Buono's. Learned from Go Gilbert FB page of the reopening. Used to dine for lunch at original location and it was so good. Dine in is open. Arrived at lunch time on Saturday and they were busy. Only 8 tables for dining inside. Many to go orders. We tried pasta, garlic knots, and slices. They serve Coke products but also have individual bottled Pepsi and some energy drinks for purchase. It was difficult to chose what to order but it was all so good. Their ricotta cheese is amazing! Service was friendly and prompt. Will definitely be back to try something else.
