This is a small hole in a wall restaurant. Located on the edge of Chinatown, you should be able to find some parking on the streets or a few blocks down. It's the only restaurant in the building that was open. The food is a personal sized portion with a pack of flavor and the cost was reasonable. The food does take a while, but it's worth the wait. It's a definite must try if you're in the area.

On occasion when I'm down towards LA and craving noodles prepared from home I would come here. Either before or after a meeting. I love their dried noodles with the pork bone and also the soup combination noodles. If you still have room I would definitely go for the fried leek appetizer. Yum! This place is a hole in wall place that you have to try! The service here is quick and staff is helpful. All you have to do is ask.

There's only two places I enjoy going to get pho in LA Korea town. And this is one of them ! Little small hole in the wall restaurant, and khmer owners ! There's only one lady working the front so it can be a bit slow sometimes but it is understandable. So if it's busy and you don't have any patience this is just a heads up. I always enjoy getting the dry noodles with the bone marrow kathew. One of my favorites. I also enjoy getting their chive pancakes ! It's me and my bf favorite.

Such small portions. Comes with pork bones soup with that huge pork bone

They close at 3 pm. We came at 2:35 pm, they said they were closed. Oh well.. Best to come before 2:00pm, I guess. I like their house special dry wide flat noodles, fried chivescake, and fried intestines. It hits the spot when cravings for Cambodian food kicks in. Nothing special. It is located in a very old, beat-up shopping center in the back street of Chinatown. Free parking in the back lot.

It looks like a family owned place. Though one would never know there is a restaurant tucked inside this bare dilapidated plaza ( which used to be more vibrant 15 yrs ago ). Do not expect quick service since it is run & managed by 1 person. The place needs a lot of updating from floors to menu. But in the end, the food is tasty and fulfilling. Would l come back ? Maybe.

Been to Kamara twice now for weekday lunch. Both times food was very tasty. I really enjoyed their fried intestine rice plate which comes with a large bowl of soup with a huge pork bone. The #1 combination rice noodle soup is also very flavorful. Their fried noodles and fried rice also had a lot of wok hey. Prices are on the cheaper end hence the smaller portions but still enough to fill you up. Service was ok/typical for a Asian restaurant. It's a small mom and pop restaurant in a strip mall surrounded by medical offices. They have free parking in the parking lot in the back. Will definitely be back for lunch.

The place definitely is an old school vibe, hole in the wall type. Although the food portion were small it was tasty and flavorful. I had order the Student Noodle with beer with 7 Up soda. It was one size only for all the food judging by what I saw on the menu.

Great Cambodian food! Used to eat here as a kid when my dad worked at the plaza, but only appreciated it a lot more recently as friends remind me how good it is! Happy to bring more friends to try as it is one of the few long-standing mom and pop shops. Came on a busy day. We were a group of 6 and first in line as all tables were taken up. Took about 20 minutes to be seated, with plenty of seating outside the quiet plaza to wait. I got the beef lok lak with fried rice and influenced most of our group to get it, too! It came with soup on the side and was under $15. Everyone who tried it raved either about the beef or the fried rice. My friend influenced us all to get 2 orders of leek cake so each of us could have a piece. All the food was yummy!! Delicious wok hei. Everyone was impressed. Cash preferred; they do take credit card and charge a small fee. Also a great place to order pick up. Support mom and pop shops!

This place is such an amazing find tucked away in a plaza away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Chinatown. I tried their combination rice noodle soup and their chicken chow mien. Both were very delicious and definitely recommend trying them! FYI, they accept credit cards!

New Kamara or New Khemara Restaurant is a hidden gem, I really wish I can keep this place for myself but they are so good I had to share it with everyone. This is my second time coming here, the first was when they only did to go orders and second about a week ago. Chinatown is a stone's throw away from home so we love coming here when we can. My partner and I were craving noodles, wonton in particular. As I was skimming through google, yelp, trip advisor this place did not come up but I parked in front of the restaurant knowing this is where I wanted to be. Walked in and it felt like home, you know what I mean... like a spot that just says heyyy its been a min welcome back! =) They offer Chinese and Cambodian dishes some of the popular items include Fried Leek Cakes Combination Rice Noodles Beef Lok Lak Com Wonton Noodle soup Beef egg noodle Student noodles

Making a good bowl of noodle soup has become a dying art, but the people who work here have kept it alive. Growing up, coming here was the perfect way to start your day in DTLA. They hit all the flavor components by making it so warm, complex, savory and light. Its always satiating, and it's a popular option to order a to-go meal after your meal. The variety of dishes they offer is a good survey of Cambodian food, with specialty items such as intestine and beef stew. The chili crunch is a favorite condiment. Its been around for a long time, so the prices have gone up, but they keep true to what they offer their customers. People who know whats up always come back.

The other, New Kimara, leans more toward the Cambodian Chinese interpretation of the dish, which is not surprising given the strong Teochew roots within Cambodia's Chinese diaspora. Kim Chuy, by comparison, feels closer to the original Teochew style. Of course, you can't spell Teochew noodles without their signature fish balls. So the highlight here is definitely the fish balls, which capture the springy, bouncy texture and clean flavor that define classic Teochew noodle soup. The noodles themselves are fairly standard and appear to come from the same suppliers used by many other noodle shops around town, so they do not particularly stand out. The broth is comforting, though it lacks some of the deeper, distinctive Teochew character that I look for. For me, the gold standard for Teochew fish ball noodle soup in the Greater Los Angeles area is still Kim Lee Noodle Cafe in Monterey Park. That said, Kim Chuy still scratches the itch when I am in Chinatown and craving something warm, simple, and familiar. It may not be the pinnacle of Teochew noodle soup in LA; however, it is a rare and welcome reminder of a cuisine that is surprisingly hard to find in the area.

These are some of our favorite dishes: Basil clams: fresh clams and fresh fragrant basil make this my mother in laws favorite. Deep fried tofu: such a comforting dish. Crunchy on the outside, silky tofu on the inside, plus a delicious dipping sauce. This is my favorite. Salt and pepper pork: savory and crunchy pork with tons of flavor. Fried calamari: crunchy yet very tender squid. The seasoning is peppery. Fried sole fish: super crunchy that we enjoy eating the fins. The inside is tender and juicy. And it has a good dipping sauce too. Lobster on a bed of noodles: great for garlic lovers. Love how fresh the Lobster is and the noodles are so fulfilling.
