Stopped at The Burger Barn in Pollock Pines and it did not disappoint! Service was quick and efficient--our food came out fast, prices were solid, and the pastrami sandwich we ordered was pretty frickin' good. Honestly, everything we had hit the spot. The vibe of the place is great--rustic and cabin-like, with a big patio under the pine trees. They were able to fit our whole crew outside with no problem, which was perfect since we were riding with a group. The walk-up ordering makes it super easy, and there's plenty of seating for larger parties (motorcycle groups, take note!). We'll definitely be back--good food, good prices, and a laid-back setting that's perfect after a ride through the mountains.

well, this is a pleasant treat here at the 4000 foot elevation of Pollock Pines along the historic pony express Trail. It's an independently owned burger slang'n business that has all the good stuff. Best of all for you plant based soy nugget huggers like me. They have a Beyond Burger that's top notch. Order this up with guacamole and jalapeño if you're a Hot One. cholula hot sauce is available too. The patio here is what i like the best. Theres a shade structure, huge plants and hella room for you and your menagerie of emotional support animals. Peep the photos. now git it!

We stopped in for a quick lunch. I got a Reuben Sandwich - Made with thin Sliced Pastrami, Sauerkraut, Thousand Island Dressing, Swiss Cheese on Marble Rye. The sandwich was on dark rye, had about 3 layers of very thin pastrami and piled high with sauerkraut. See the picture, should be named the Sauerkraut Sandwich. Everyone else got burgers and they seem much smaller than the last time we were there. It wasn't horrible but pretty disappointing, there are not a lot of places to eat in Pollock Pines. I get things are getting expensive, up your prices and add a little meat. I zoomed in on the picture and there is hair on the sandwich. I never noticed it, when I ate it!

If you haven't eaten at Burger Barn in Pollock Pines, you're really missing out--not just on the food, but the whole vibe. I had a juicy, flavorful hamburger, my cousin went big with a double bacon cheeseburger, and my dad tore through his Philly cheesesteak like it owed him money. My aunt got the grilled chicken salad with cheddar and ranch--and I don't even like ranch, but it looked so good I almost stole a bite. We sat outside on the patio under canvas shades and blooming wisteria. The sun was warm, the air was crisp, and the whole place just had this relaxed, timeless charm. You order inside and the super friendly staff brings your food out to you. It's the kind of spot that makes you want to stay a little longer. Right off Main Street next to the True Value hardware store, it's surrounded by trees and mountain air. The whole place feels like a little slice of peace with amazing burgers. Whether you're finishing a hike or just grabbing a bite with family, this spot hits the mark.

We came here on Saturday afternoon because the people at the gate of the Sly Park recreation area recommended eating here. I had a black and blue burger with fries and a soda. Unfortunately, the soda machine was having issues and the soda tasted not nearly sweet enough and not nearly carbonated enough. The fries unfortunately were overcooked. The burger was good. The service was excellent, and the people were friendly.

My friends and I stopped by Burger Barn after a 5.5-mile hike--starving and in need of a solid, protein-packed meal. This was my first visit, and I was pleasantly surprised! The place is small and cozy. We were the only ones there and got seated right away. Our server was friendly, attentive, and even asked if we needed separate checks up front (huge plus!). I'm gluten-free and don't eat beef, so I ordered a custom turkey burger on a gluten-free bun with jalapeños, mushrooms, onions, Swiss and pepper jack cheese, plus steak fries and a side salad. The salad was fresh and a good size, though the ranch tasted like standard bottled dressing. The burger was flavorful, cheesy, and satisfying, and the gluten-free bun (a $3.50 upcharge) was soft and held up perfectly--totally worth it. The restroom situation was a bit hit-or-miss--one clean, one dirty--but overall, a solid experience. Great comfort food and friendly service made this a spot I'd come back to after a hike in the area!

Yummmm! Stopped in for lunch on our way to do some Ice House camping and it was delicious! It's located right off Pony Express Trail and they have a cute shaded patio area that is dog friendly. You can order inside or at the patio window. We ordered the Chili Fries, Bacon Blue Burger, Western Bacon Cheeseburger and the Kids Chicken Nuggets. Everything was so good! The burgers were flavorful and I loved the crispy burger buns! The Chili Fries were huge and the chili was great as well. We also ordered Peanut Butter and Oreo milkshakes that hit the spot on this triple digits day! Overall, this place is a must. Service was super friendly and you can tell that they take a lot of pride in their business! We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town! Check them out!

Good food, came out hot. Burgers are good on size and tasty. We were seated quickly and given time to order. Food is cooked fresh, so it takes some time. 1 less star due to size of fries. We ordered a large but for $7 , it looked like a happy meal size amount.

Chilling waiting for my stuffed burger master piece to be created. Special foods takes patience Yelpstars.

Wonderful hole in the wall that was walking distance from where we were staying in the town of Pollock Pines. If you're thinking where in the world is Pollock Pines?...well it's near Apple Hill where they bake the 5 star pies, apple turnovers, and I can consume everything my parents used to deny me as a young little chunk. Rolled into the Burger Barn and the two ladies working the Barn gladly assisted me even though one was still on her break. Ordered up one STUFFED bacon and cheese burger with waffles and one small chocolate shake. Let me tell you folks...A+ burger and real milkshakes made real with pride. Never seen a stuffed burger on a menu before so Chris G had to pound it! The burger, waffles, and milkshake was a great meal and I'm so glad I went to the Burger Barn. There's not a lot of options in this town, but this is an amazing one. Can't wait to return to the Burger Barn.

Pleasantly surprised!…read more We stopped here on a whim on our way back from South Lake Tahoe, after a round of golf. Walked in, not expecting much, but at least some decent food to feed our hungry belly's. It was Saturday evening around 615ish, front of house was running around, but when she spotted us, showed us to our table, gave menus, and apologized as it might be a minute before our server would be able to take our orders because it has suddenly gotten busier than expected (large place but only about 1/4 full, but with 2 large groups, one of which was just seated before us) she came back with waters while we looked at the menu. Once our server came she was polite and took our drink order, promising to be back to take our food order. Understandably it took longer than usual to come back, so another man came to take our order. He apologized for the wait and said he would be happy to take our orders. We think he was the manager or possibly owner, really nice gentleman. We ordered the tiger prawns and Brussels sprouts appetizers, I ordered fish n chips, my husband ordered the rib eye with Mac n cheese and our friend ordered the salmon. The Tiger Prawns and Brussels came out first and the tiger prawns were amazing! 5 large tiger prawns, a couple pcs of toasted baguette, and in a type of white wine garlic Alfredo sauce type. The sauce was perfection, as I dipped each bite of prawn and soaked the accompanied bread. The Brussels were just as amazing, fried to have a nice crisp to it, but not soaking in oil, so they must've been fried in the perfect temp oil or something, and the glaze was just right (a lot of places just drench them in glaze as they're sitting there soaked in oil, but not the case here!) The ribeye was cooked very well (medium rare) and the hubby thought the salt level was PERFECT. It was a little salty for me, but I don't like a lot of salt. My husband almost always orders a good steak when available, and he thought it was great. The accompanying side of veggies were great too! Heavy on the garlic, but we love garlic so we thought it was perfect. The fish n chips were good, fries were ok, but not my style. They were more like shoe string fries, but that's their thing and a lot of people like that style. The tartar sauce was surprisingly good, and not just that cheap store bought stuff a lot of places tend to give. Friend with the salmon said it was good and ate it all. The gentleman that took our order forgot to add the fish n chips, but quickly rectified it, apologizing and bringing out some fries for me to munch on as the fish was getting cooked. Not a big deal to me, as I was already happy with the other items we had. He also came to our table once we were done and chatted with us for a bit, which was very nice of him. Overall the food was pretty good and would recommend stopping here if you have a chance when you have some time to relax while you eat. The staff are all nice personable. Sorry I didn't get to take pics of everything, as we were all really hing

Definitely had a bit of a kick to it, the risotto was done well. My pet peeve is mushy risotto, it needs to have a slight bite to it which this one had thankfully. My wife and I ordered Baja fish tacos and the fish n chips plate, I though the texture and execution of the dishes was spot on, very crispy and appetizing looking dishes, the tacos had cotija cheese on top of the fried fish, diced peppers with pico, and the side was a creative play on street corn (corn, mayo, cheese, spices) served with chips. The only critique I'll give is everything needed more salt, but that's better than being salty. My drinks were amazing, blood orange IPA and the clear water lager (award winning). Yay! Our new favorite lunch place on Main Street!…read more We just stopped by last weekend, we've been wanting to try this place out but it just hadn't happened.... Last Monday we decided to have lunch there, one of our regular places is closed Mondays and this place was open so we checked it out...and we're SO SO glad we did! Atmosphere was nice and server was very friendly from the moment we walked in. First thing I noticed; $5 mimosas!! I asked if they did anything other than orange juice and yes, they had several other options so I had the cranberry version. Delicious! I went with their mac and cheese, my partner got the basic hamburger. Mac and Cheese -- definitely very bacon forward, much more than I prefer. That being said, I still liked it, it also had sour cream and green onion on top. Bacon lovers will LOOOVE this version, there is LOTS of it and every bite you can taste it. Normally I prefer my mac & cheese with no bacon or just a bit here and there, I prefer to taste more of the cheeses.....again, it still tasted good, its a good serving and I ate half and had enough to save for the next day at work. Creamy and well made, again I just prefer to taste more cheese than bacon. I wouldn't order this again but like I said, a bacon lover will LOVE this version. Now, my partner's burger was Incredible. We are PICKY with our burgers, and we both thought this one was fantastic. Big, and great ratio to the bun. He ordered it medium and asked for "a little char" and they made it perfectly. I took a bite and yeah, I'd order that for sure. The fries were great, too. Overall we were super happy with our lunch, I thought it was priced fairly as well. We will definitely be back!!

I'll give 2* because the food (when it came) was great…read more We've been to Franny's a couple times before and had O.K. service and good food. The pitfalls of the restaurant seem to be entirely the service. Most recently we went to Franny's on Mother's Day. We had reservations and walked in, on time. We were initially sat in a nice booth in the front of the restaurant. It was my wife and I plus our 2 kids, the table size seemed appropriate. After being sat, we sat without talking to a server for 10+ minutes, not even getting waters. Eventually, when someone did come, it was a waitress/hostess telling us that there had been a mix up, and we needed to move. We weren't excited on the idea, as we were happy where we were, but we moved to the back of the restaurant. This time we sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by any wait staff. At this point it is 9:25 and we've been seated for 25 minutes without even water. Finally a waitress comes, and takes our drink order, and our food order as we'd definitely had ample time to look over the menu. About 9:50 the food arrives. My wife and kids' food comes and is great. My food comes and looks off, and the waitress tells me that the kitchen accidentally made me a "veggie" scramble instead of the chorizo that I had ordered, but that she'd get me some bacon and all was well. I asked what was in the veggie scramble and was told it has mushrooms, which is a hard pass for me. She told me she could have what I had actually ordered made but it would "take a long time". I said O.K. - what else was I going to do? Finally it comes, and my wife is done eating, and the kids are close, so, I asked for it to be "boxed up". The waitress rolled her eyes and set to the task. I'm not a restaurant snob - but I really expected an apology or something to be "comp'd" due to the rough experience, but nope, full bill and no apology. Regrettably, despite Franny's being a local joint and having good food, we won't be back.
