I'm writing this review as I eat my burger. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger combo with grilled onions and substitute tater tots. The burger is ok, nothing special and nothing horrible. The reason for 2 stars is because the lady or owner of shop didn't really greet me when I entered. Also, the place looked really run down and I could smell some sort of smell coming from restroom as I stood at cash register. I needed to find a place to grab a quick bite to eat with my family in Clear Lake, and this place came up on my Yelp app with 5 stars, so I thought what the heck - I happened to be craving a burger anyways and didn't want to spend some serious coin and the reviews looked good. This place is a burger joint right across the street from Ellington field. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's run by some very nice Korean folks. The set-up is Fuddrucker-ish, where there is a topping and condiment station. I recommend the bulgogi burger - it was unique and delicious!! The buns are baked fresh in store, and when you taste them you'll realize what a difference it makes (I'm not the type of person who usually pays attention to the burger buns, but these were darned good). Their lunch specials are ridiculously cheap too - you can get a burger combo with fries and drink for less than 7 bux! A little tip - you can make yourself a nice little fry sauce by mixing the ketchup, mayo, and Sriracha at the condiment station :) I want to come back and try the rest of the menu as well. This is my favorite divey restaurant. If you are looking for a quick and cheap burger place then this is it! I came here once when i was at work and all my coworkers were going. I wasn't sure if there would be anything there for me to eat because I'm a vegetarian. I was surprised to see a Garden Burger on their menu. The garden burger is a blend of vegetables mixed together in a soy bean patty. As far as I know it is not Vegan, but it definitely works if you are vegetarian. It also tastes pretty good, but don't expect anything gourmet. They cook really quickly and it will be a filling meal. The choices of sides are fries, onion rings, tater tots, cheese sticks, or a baked potato. So lots of carbs and starches. I would not recommend coming here if you are on a diet, but if you need a lot of calories at a low price then definitely come here. And looking at their location (a small industrial strip mall) they are catering to the clientele in the area - not to potential high end customers looking for something trendy. Oh yeah I'm a fan!! I was so sad when Burger Tex on Bay Area Blvd. closed because while I'm not a huge lover of burgers, I do enjoy one every now and then. And not a McDonald's burger either. And it was hot and fresh too; I'm not really crazy about fries either but I think I'm crazy about these little crispy-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside crinkle cut fries! (Yeah yeah I know.....not a fan of burgers or fries...don't judge me. lol) As Bo said, you get your burgers plain and then go to the condiment bar to dress it up. They have lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, jalapenos, pico de gallo and relish, plus a nice assortment of sauces; the usual mayo, mustard,and ketchup, plus sriracha sauce, Tabasco, and A-1! What a surprise to find that a renowned burger place would turn out to have delicious Korean cuisine. My daughter and I stopped for burgers, but were too enticed by the ramen and Korean dishes to try one (we definitely plan to do so in the near future). Atmosphere was cheery, clean and bright. Large portions, yet economically reasonable prices, and EVERYTHING we ate was delicious and so flavorful. We are so excited that this little gem is so close to our home. read more

I'm rating the burger since that's what this place is about. It's has a smoked/grilled flavor that's pleasing. The burger comes naked and they have a fixins bar with the standard burger fixins. All in all the burger's good, better than most fast food burgers, but it isn't grand. We only had the burger so I can't say about fries and such. I later saw a customer with tater tots and would have ordered them had I realized they had them when we ordered. I didn't count off for these, but the A/C can't keep up, it was too warm in the restaurant. We were there at noon and parking in front was jammed. We got the last spot when we arrived and it was the only open spot when we left. They have a sign saying there's parking in the rear. I don't know how convenient it is. We had to drive about 6 miles. I have driven by this place several times due to its location, but finally decided to give it a shot after reading the YELP reviews. My expectations were low since one of the reviews had mentioned that they use frozen not fresh ground beef. Well, I have to say that this was the best tasting FROZEN meat burger I've ever had! The bun was on very decent bread (would've been great if it were whole wheat not white) and more importantly, was perfectly toasted. The meat was surprisingly very flavorful, though I'm sure I don't want to know why (MSG, perhaps? or various artificial flavorings no doubt), and the DIY veggies were nice and fresh. My only gripe is that they didn't really cook the meat "medium rare" as requested, though I was happy that it was not "well done" and dried out as is commonly done at many places especially those horrid chains like Chili's and Friday's. It was well balanced between "juicy" and "greasy." I didn't order the fries since I found out that they are frozen not fresh cut. Oh well...for the price I can't complain...five bucks for a half pound burger with a fresh DIY toppings bar, you can't get that for the same money at Wendy's or Burger King! And it's better quality food for the money than Subway or Taco Bell, which are the 2 least-bad fast food places. The burger alone gets 3 stars, but the excellent value brings it up to 4. Places that deserve one star are nasty and have poor service. I have no clue why others are giving this place such a high rating. Why are other reviews stating it's homemade? Have they never had a real burger before? FROZEN FAKE PATTY. The meat patty is that fake soy beef patty that they throw some salt on and "grill" it. The french fries are straight up regular old crinkle cut fries you get in the freezer section and have no seasoning on them. You get your "burger" served to you with only meat cheese and bread, then proceed to the semi cold area where you put your fixings on. Probably one of the saltiest worst burgers I have ever ate. I've probably tried 15 items on their menu and everything is fantastic. Every sandwich, the salads and the Korean cuisine are great. In addition, the owners are very nice and attentive people. Do you like burgers made from frozen patties? Rubbery, fake cheese? Frozen crinkle-cut fries? Then you'll LOVE Burger House. Seriously, everything comes from Costco. It tastes exactly like elementary school lunch - also from Costco. Not that the burgers are bad, but they taste like they've been in a freezer for 16 months next to your aunt Edna's wedding cake. It's just not really good. Yes, it's locally-owned by a nice Korean family, and yes, that's truly endearing. And the dressings are completely DIY - there's a huge salad bar for pickles, onions, lettuce (shredded and whole leaf) and other standard condiments, but no amount of relish and mustard is going fool you into thinking the burger tastes good. The coolest part of the Burger House experience is that the staff can communicate telepathically. If you order a burger combo, the Korean lady mumbles "lunch special" into a microphone for the chef. If you order a bacon burger or any other burger, still "lunch special." The same words somehow convey bacon and cheese. It's downright amazing. New local burger joint right across from Ellington Field on Hwy3. It's owned by a Korean family and seems to be pretty vacant most of the time. That's surprising considering it's one of the best burgers I've ever had. It's flame grilled patties are marinated to perfection and their wavy fries are crispy and fresh. It's similar to Fuddrucker's in the sense you add on your own toppings. I actually love this since I love condiments and veggies. You order at the counter an when your food is up you can get all the fixin's at the fixin' bar. The burger is made of real beef...yeah! Imagine that! Mu husband ordered their chicken salad and it, too, look ed amazing. Stacked high w/ again, real chicken breast! Delicious!!! The burger was really great. Flame broiled with a lot of flavor. The bun was perfect-- soft but not so soft that it dissolves in your hand. You put on all the trimming yourself. They all seemed fresh. The fries are crinkle cut, which in my hierarchy of fry love, is towards the bottom, just above steak fries, but these were pretty good, crispy on the outside just a little mushy on the inside. The place is small and kind of a dive, nothing to look at from outside. It was warm inside, please turn up the AC! But it appears Cook was making each order fresh, I waited 10-15 min for mine. I have become a bit of a burger snob (my wife's description). I'm looking for fresh beef and fresh buns, plus fresh cut fries after being spoiled by other places that do. This place (despite one other claim) does use fresh beef - I watched it go on the grill. They put a season mixture on the patties that I liked but my wife and teen daughter did not. The buns are fluffy and large, which means even a 1/3 pound patty has to be thin to cover most of it, leading to a drier, fully well done burger. Despite this, there was some juice coming off the burger. Decent burger, complimented by the topping station, which looks generic but has what is needed - shredded and leaf lettuce, pickles, onions, pickle relish, jalapeños, plus ketchup, mustard, mayo and my favorite, A-1 sauce. Sides are all frozen, a drawback. Nice that they have tater tots and onion rings, which were decent but nothing special. Fries are crinkle cut - generous portion but still frozen fries. Place isn't much for interior decoration. Local owned and fresh beef means i would give 3.5 stars if I could, but I would still lean toward Five Guys for the fresh cut fries. I miss Mooyah and wish for someplace closer to this end of Clear Lake. They do have chicken strips, fried shrimp and some other options, but I would bet they are all frozen products as well, so that might help for those not wanting a burger but I can't recommend them. read more

Alright, after reading many glorifying reviews of Burger House I had to give it a try. I had been there twice before but both times they were closed. They close early on Saturday and closed all day Sunday. I am guessing the majority of their business is the lunch time crowd. I went in for dinner. They were not very busy. Price is great considering it is a homemade burger joint. The buns are homemade and the foot is cooked for each order, including the seasoned fries which were great and numerous. It was about 8-10 minutes wait for the food and everything was delicious. I had the 1/3 lb Bacon Burger Combo. Next time I will go for the 1/2 lb and have Swiss cheese instead of American. I am also looking forward to trying their rib-eye sandwich. I also liked their condiment bar. Overall it was a good experience. They come in at 4 stars because 4 1/2 is saved for Buddy's in Beecher, IL and 5 stars is only for the Awful Awful Burger at the Little Nugget in Reno. read more

Holy cow this place is great. I came here with a friend because we were on Galveston Road 3 and we were hungry for lunch. This place is in a cruddy little strip mall, and it would be super easy to miss it. Inside, you order at the counter, and then when your order is placed up in the window, you go get it yourself. You can get 1/3 lb or 1/2 lb burgers, turkey burger, vegetarian burger. And your choice of a zillion toppings. I got sauteed onions and mushrooms. This thing was so much more delicious than I would have expected. Pretty sure the buns were house-made. The tater tots were also really good -- I can't wait to come back again and try onion rings or fries next time. If you're in Clear Lake / Webster and in the mood for a burger, don't go to any of the fast food places, make your way here instead. You'll be super happy that you did. read more

It is what it is. For a frozen patty, and frozen crinkle cut fries, the burger was pretty good. The Hamburger Bun made the burger, along with very fresh onions lettuce tomatoes, jalapeno slices, among others (relish, ect). I will go back, it is a very humble and no ambiance, but everything is clean. I compare it "as good" as Carl Jr. but without all the different varieties of burgers. They do have a Chicken Fried Steak on the lunch special that was 6.50 or so with drink and fires. We had the Traditional Burger, that was on the lunch special @6.24 with drink and fries total little over 13 bucks for both of us. You get your burger at the window, then proceed to the table to Fudrucker style of loading it up. There is not as many items as Fudruckers (not even close) but all was fresh and turned out to be a good hamburger. The burger was tasty. The bacon was overlooked. Quite chewy. The cheese was just America. Standard yellow slice. The fries were okay- sure tasted like frozen crinkle cut. I ordered the 1/2... May have been slightly light; but not like I need the extra. The toppings were on a buffet style table. It was clean; and with multiple pincers. The toppings were actually kept cool enough that the trays had condensation. Very happy to see that. The coke machine has seen better days. A cardboard kid covers the aged ice chute; not sure why that isn't covered by the integrated ice machine. The restaurant was maybe a 7/10 for cleanliness. I think it could greatly improve with little effort if someone in charge just stepped in wearing a first time visitors shoes. This place is simply delicious. I have never come here without leaving satisfied, or even brought along someone who did not equally enjoy their meal. The parking may sometimes be horrendous, the ambiance of the restaurant is nonexistent at best, perhaps the place isn't exactly spotless, and yeah, the ingredients aren't of the highest caliber. That said, this is my favorite burger joint in the area. My friends and I make it a point to eat here at least once a week, not only because the food is phenomenal, (nice, old fashioned down-home burgers and sandwiches) but because the larger chain burger stands have left our taste buds jaded and malcontent. 5 Guys Burgers may boast to have the best $5 dollar burgers in town, but never did I manage to have a filling meal there for anything less than $12, and even then it was just a grease laden mass of fat dripping lard over a ridiculous amount of fries. But I digress. This place is worth trying at least once. You've wasted more money on worse food. There's no reason you should pass this place up. This is a cute and nice little burger joint owned by a Korean family; located in a small strip of what seems to be some semi-abandoned buildings on State Highway 3 across from Ellington Field. They are open from 10:30am-8pm Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays; their lunch ends and dinner service starts at 3pm. I had heard some good things about this place on Yelp. With a burger-loving husband, hungry stomach and nothing at home to make for lunch, I decided to check this place out for the first time today. When you enter the place, its decently sized; maybe seats up to about 40-ish people and has a cafeteria-like feel to it. The color theme of the place seems to be yellow, beige and brown. You have about half a dozen or so small and large tables on one side and a few booths to the right. You order at the register, sit down and then a depending on how busy the place is, a sweet little Korean lady brings your order to you. Otherwise, theres a pick up window with a sign for you to pick up your order when finished. Being my first time there, I wish I had actually taken some time to peruse the menu before ordering because they have a lot of really good things to offer. Unfortunately, I was so excited to see a burger specials sign for a Bulgoki burger that I just blurted right out loud like a little kid, "I want that one! I want the Bulgoki burger!" It was very unique and tasted alright but it was a little bit overly salty for my taste and the marinade wasn't the best. I would probably prefer and recommend getting a regular burger or a grilled chicken burger next time. Their add-ons are very reasonable priced. They range from costing $0.25-$0.75. Some options you have are bacon, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, gravy, and avocado. Again, I wish I had seen this prior to blurting out my order and tried some of these fixings. Most of the burgers don't cost more than $4-$5 and you can make it a combo with a drink and fries for a total of about $7. The french fries are the "accordion-cut" (I don't know the specific name) type of fries but you can substitute them for onion rings, fried mushrooms or tater tots for just $0.50. Your burger choices are: 1/3lb burger, 1/2lb burger, bacon burger, grilled chicken burger, garden burger (vegetarian option), Bulgoki burger, and fish burger. They have an area in which you can add your own sauces, lettuce, tomato, onion, relish, pickles, and a bruschetta mixture but I highly recommend also trying one of the add-ons (i.e. Grilled mushrooms and fresh avocado). Sodas and tea are free refills. They home-make a really delicious sweet tea, it's perfect and not overly sweet. Also, all these burgers are made to order so I would also highly recommend telling the cashier how you want your burger (if beef) cooked. They tend to cook the burger medium well so if you're like me and prefer a juicier temperature like medium rare for your beef burger patty, make sure you say something. They are happy to oblige. For dinner, they also offer a 12oz. Rib-eye steak with baked potato, a house salad, and toast for only $11.99!! They only offer this after 3pm but this is an amazing deal and I definitely want to try this next time! I also want to make sure I try their dumplings next time too! They have in-house, home-made dumplings! And the sweet little Korean lady highly recommends ordering them so that'll be a must for my next visit. I really like this place. It has a really nice feel to it and the people who own and work this place are extremely sweet and nice people. It is unfortunate I didn't particularly care for my burger but I should have taken more time really checking out the menu prior to ordering. This is a family-friendly place to bring kids, totally feeds any burger craving you may ever have, or it's even great to come here with a bunch of your friends. They have a great concept going for them and could probably tweak it a bit to make it better but I am definitely adding this place as my go-to burger joint. Skip the over-priced corporate/franchise companies like Fudruckers. This place does what they do better and they make you feel at home.
