Cashier has terrible customer service, not once or twice but almost every time I've gone he is rude and not friendly. There are very limited options of restaurants at the 5th ave mall so that is why I have gone back but this time he was extremely rude. I went up to the register and said "hello" he didn't say it back and didn't make eye contact, I figured since he didn't make eye contact he wasn't ready to take my order so I just waited and instead of looking at me and asking if I'm ready he just simply sat down in his chair that is a little far away from the register and still didn't make eye contact. Not pleasant atmosphere, horrible service, food was not very good. Found several hairs in my food. Was yelled at several times for attempting to get a refill, and was severely overcharged. Bad customer service, cashier was extremely disrespectful to me and my group that I was traveling with. My husband and I ate here for the first time today while visiting 5th Avenue Mall in Anchorage. First, let me say that the owner is delightful! He has a wonderful sense of humor, and is very personable. We would return to this place just to talk with him. But, what a bonus that the food is delicious! We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and halibut burger. They were both yummy, but the fries were amazing! I was a little surprised that the halibut wasn't fresh pieces on the bun, instead it was a square premade patty. Still, it was very tasty. Unfortunately, I come here all the time I am in love with the fries and just today I recommended somebody to go get them and I go up there in a good mood to go get fries since auntie Anne's doesn't have the frosting and they have two customers not even busy. Both of the customers were checked out I go to check out and my car doesn't work. I know it doesn't work. It takes three inserts and then a swipe before it works because the card is split in half. And yes I have a new card but no I did not have it on me today and I had not ate so I was very hungry, so I was going to get food. I've been a regular customer here for years and come to know the owner very well. I could not go to the restaurant for months a d I come back and he still recognized me, that why I keep coming back! Food is always very consistent never disappointed. Wings are tender, crispy and flavorful bite. Now I don't k kw what they fry there fries in but these are the best fries I have ever had, little crispy bits hanging off the fries giving the lightest cripsiest crunch on a frie ever and the garlic seasoning when the fries are plated is a nice touch. Alot of thing I love here but I would come here just for the fries it's that good! Plenty of combos and specials and anything from burgers, wings and ribs thus is a must try spot. Extremely disappointed. I ordered 3 burgers through DoorDash and two of them were brown on the outside but extremely raw on the inside, like literally dark pink. Mine literally fell apart as I bit into it. I had tried to pick out the raw bits, but I ended up with a fully disassembled burger patty. Service was terrible and got the wrong food. I thought the older Asian guy at counter was nice at first but when I tried to pick up my food he changed my mind on that. He insisted he kept calling my order but he was shouting the wrong food ordered. I ordered the Teriyaki wings but all I heard was Buffalo wings, which I did not order. I looked at the food and it was definitely Buffalo and I kept asking if it was Teriyaki, he insisted yes it was but there is difference between Teriyaki and Buffalo. He also forgot my water and when I went to ask to get the water I purchased he said I need to fix my attitude. Good food, terrible treatment of customers. I love the burger and fries here, and used to come here for lunch, but I won't ever be back, and I suggest no one patronize this place unless you you're a masochist who likes being treated like garbage. No joke, I was charged over $1,500 for a burger. When I finally noticed a few days later that my bank account had been cleared out, I returned to the store to get a refund. What did the owner do when I came back? Was he extremely apologetic and did he try to do anything to make the situation right? No, he just said "It happens" (no, actually it never happens) and proceeded to act like it was all a funny mistake. He refunded the money and then actually charged me for the burger. That part is not a joke. He seriously ran my card again to charge me for the burger. Causing your customers overdraft fees and surprising them with an empty bank account isn't even worth a free burger at this place. Worst customer service I've ever seen in my whole life. The fact that the owner said "It happens" leads me to believe this is a common occurrence. I would rather find a hair in my burger than deal with all the pain this charge has caused me this week. If you want to be able to afford your rent this month and not enter into a financial nightmare over a burger, don't go here. I had some time to kill while my phone was being worked on at the Apple store; so I headed up to the food court and decided to have an early dinner here. This was my first time; and it'll likely be a while before I go back, if ever. The guy at the register told me to wait, while his counterpart ran to the basement to get more supplies. I didn't mind; because I wasn't in a hurry; however, he also didn't mention how long the wait was going to be. Another guy in line (who was waiting on an order he already placed) was miffed because he was already waiting a long time and was going to be late getting back to work. After briefly speaking with him, I took the time to peruse the menu. Nearly everything is deep fried. In total, the wait was about fifteen minutes for the guy to return. While I should have ordered a burger, I ended up ordering popcorn chicken, cheese curds, and a fountain drink. The guy at the register told me I couldn't order that. I gave a quizzical look and asked what he meant by that. He said he couldn't substitute cheese curds for the fries. Bold of him to assume that was my intent. I ordered it just as I wanted it: the single order for each. I realize it was more costly to do this; but I didn't want fries. Overlooking this faux pas, I waited about ten minutes more and the guy at the register bellowed my order to half of the floor, as he did for everyone else. The cheese was cooked perfectly, but the chicken was dry and over-done. While I sat there, I noticed that the guy at the register was curt with most customers, but couldn't figure out why. I witnessed him throwing things across the counter at his patrons, like straws (which I was then grateful that I didn't get to begin with). I ate the cheese and threw away most of the chicken. For the $22, I spent, I'm better off dining elsewhere. Had my phone not been with the folks at Apple, I would have taken a photo for you. read more

The Mall is loud enough as it is, you do not have to have the music up that loud. You have to have a way of reprinting a reciept or give a reciept to the customer. Also make sure that the menu is right. I asked for riblets and wings, and he gave me riblets and shrimp. Nothing special about this place. In this food court, it will likely be the only thing that stands out... the other options are just the same old thing. This place does offer variety... but the quality brings it down. I didn't try the ribs... because I don't trust the quality of ribs I'm going to get at a mall food court. The fries were awesome, the pop corn chicken was crap and the burger was odd. I'm not even sure it was 100% beef. It had a weird taste and texture. And the bacon was pathetic. Paper thin and skinny. Guy didnt ring up the popcorn shrimp, the chicken was unedible, he wouldn't give me a copy of my receipt, and he kept wiping his nose with his fingers and touching his hair. This place is actually one of my favorite burger joints. There have definitely been moments where I have come to the mall JUST to get a burger from this guy. It's not just because they are good burgers though. The guy that runs the joint is there ALL the time. Seriously, I've never seen anyone else manning the register, ever. That guy is probably one of the coolest people I've met during my time living here in Alaska. Super friendly, super talkative. This place is also the ONLY one providing music in the food court (a boom box). I've tried every burger they have at this point, and to me, the Bacon Blue Burger is the best. Fries are always awesome, super crispy, with garlic salt. The wings are cooked PERFECT, as in ALL the fat is cooked off to make a super crunchy wing under the sauce.
