You know Korean food has really made it into the mainstream American dining scene when you see a fast food option for bibimbap. I enjoy Burning Rice for what it is: a Chipotle like experience for bibimbap. You can customize your bowl or you can say that you want everything. There is also an island with two soup options (miso and seaweed soup, the couple of times I've been there), veggies, and sauces. I enjoy their seaweed soup a lot and I love the fact that I can get as much jalapeno as I want without bothering anyone. It's nice have the Preston Center location for a quick lunch. read more

This is not a review for authenticity; strictly for restaurant, food, and service. Everything met expectations. They had a very clean complimentary salad bar with 2 dressings and 2 soup options. The seaweed soup snd the miso soup were both decent. The seaweed soup had nice chunks of meat in it. I got the stone bowl with galbi, pork, over veggie stirred rice. All veggies were very fresh, and so was the rice. I do think the galbi was a little bit tough and the pork was a bit lacking in flavor. However, altogether, i still enjoyed my bowl quite a lot. The portion was huge for the price, and with a complimentary soup and salad bar, it really is hard to go wrong. There was plenty of meat in the bowl, so adding extra does not cost that much more, and they definitely don't skimp out on the protein. Overall, will def want to be back to try more combinations! It's Korean fast food, strictly ordered by computer or cp. It is a no-brainer to do but if you're in experimenting mode, it might be overwhelming. I ordered brown rice, grilled pork, veggies. But I skipped any foreign sounding sides and any sauce. I don't doubt I cheated myself of good flavoring. But for sure, next time I'll try the weird sounding stuff. One of my new favorite restaurants! I came with a party of 7 on a weekend afternoon and there was plenty of seating. The servers graciously helped us move tables and re-arrange chairs. Parking was a bit harder to find in this area on a weekend but there is a central garage with free parking. With their custom-made bibambap bowls, Burning Rice reminds me of an Asian Chipotle. You have the option of a regular bowl vs. a hot stone bowl. Would definitely recommend spending that extra $1 to get the hot stone bowl! It keeps your food warm throughout for meal which is a major plus for slow eaters like me. If you wait a bit before mixing the hot stone bowl, you end up with slighty burnt, crispy rice at the bottom of your bowl - my favorite! There are FOUR rice options: white rice, brown rice, vegetable stirred rice, and kimchi stirred rice. There are FIVE different meat options with two additional ones (LA Galbi and pineapple galbi steak) that come at a small extra cost. Most of the meat options come in two flavors: spicy and non-spicy. I got the non-spicy bulgogi. For the side toppings, I literally added everything (spinach, zucchini, bean sprout, mushroom, carrot, fish cake, kimchi, japchae, and an egg). My only complaint about their food is that we ordered a side dish of pot stickers that were COLD on the inside. We immediately sent it back to the kitchen so they could reheat it. I was really satisfied with my bibambap and the big portion! Meals also come with complimentary soup (Seaweed, Miso) and salad which were perfect additions. I highly recommend the sesame dressing for your salad but the ginger balsamic was light and flavorful too. There were also orange slices at the salad bar! For what it is, Burning Rice is fantastic! First time trying Korean BBQ, and it did not disappoint! We stumbled upon this place by accident and are so glad that we did. The inside is spacious, so we were able to sit without anyone around us, which felt safe. You get to build your own bowl, then they cook it fresh right then (a slight wait, but it's worth it)! It was delicious! Everything was amazing and tasted so fresh. All of the flavors went well together, and the sweet bbq sauce was so tasty. We went for the Sunday kids special, as advertised outside of business, but when we ordered 2 regular bowls they said a kids bowl is no longer available with a regular bowl. We said no big deal and you can up charge us but would still like regular bowls and they said that's not possible. So we were forced to get a hot bowl. Then, they forgot the add on we paid for. Then, they were out of multiple sauces. We let them know the sign falsely advertises on the door, but there was zero remorse or desire to host well. In addition, they have a small and simple complimentary salad/soup bar where you can help yourself to basic veggies as well as miso soup. Update: Last week I placed a pickup order and it was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't wait to order again. So today I did! I had a short window in which to walk over and pick up a late lunch. At 2:45 I placed an order to be picked up at 3:15. As I was walking to the restaurant, I got an email that said the meal would be ready at 2:55. This was not good, as it was already 3:05. I walked into Burning Rice at 3:10 and told the counter staff I had an online pickup order, which they brought up. I asked them how long the meal had been sitting, and they didn't really understand the question. I explained I asked for a 3:15 pickup, but the meal was ready at 2:55, so at 3:10 it had already been sitting for 15 minutes. They didn't see a problem. After trying to explain for another 5 minutes, I cut my losses, packaged some BBQ sauce and walked for the exit. That's when one of the staff asked if I'd like the meal re-made. It was nice of them to finally think of that option, but if I had the time to wait for it to be prepared, I would have done that in the first place. So by the time I had my first bite, the food had been sitting for nearly 30 minutes. It was as you would expect: cold and unappetizing on a bed of mushy noodles. A huge difference from the meal I had last week. In addition, there were no to-go containers for miso soup at the counter, so I assume that is no longer included with lunch. And finally, my order was wrong. I asked for scrambled egg. There was no scrambled egg. To recap, my order was wrong, cold, and did not include miso soup. I want to believe that this was an unfortunate confluence of events, but would you return after this? read more

I don't know why, but I'm always looking up Korean spots when I'm out for vacation. Burning Rice! That's exactly what it is! It's just a bowl of BURNING rice. Something you see everywhere in Korean restaurants, Bi Bim Baps. I aaaaalways order a bowl of BBB when I eat out for Korean, but this time, this place is all about it. I believe this place is newly opened. It looks hella good inside. It's a good sized location and it's very clean and modern inside and out. Looking at the menu, it isn't too hard to order what you want. It's a DIY BBB bowl, but there's a limit to what you truly want in it. They offer your BBB's in a regular warm bowl, or for a $1, you can get the hot stone bowl and experience a hot burning bowl of BBB! My family and I ordered spicy garlic pork BBB bowls and a regular beef bulgogi bowl with basically everything in it. Everything includes fish cakes, vegetables, egg, bean sprouts, and more. Each order of a bowl also comes complimentary of going to the bar to compliment your dish. From what I saw, the bar has broccoli, seaweed soup, and just other things to go with your dish. Nothing too impressive, but it's there. The bowls came out in a cart and it was just soooo aromatic! I could hear the rice cooking at the bottom getting crunchy every second! I mixed my bowl up and shared with my girl. Every bite is just hot, and that's what I love about it! It feels fresh with every bite. It's a great place to go to if you're into BBB's. Fair priced, as it's just about $10-12 a bowl. I'm glad I stopped by here during vacation. This place really is the spot to get BBB bowls and enjoy with friends. I tragically do not live in Dallas anymore as I go to school in Austin, but every time I return home to visit family Burning Rice is my first stop. The staff is super friendly and they truly are one of the few places I have found where I can enjoy high quality Korean food for cheap. There are quite a few strip mall restaurants throughout the DFW area but this one is different. I love ordering the mando dumplings to start but I'm always excited to try the new options as they add to their menu. My bowl choice is always changing but the key ingredient is the gochujang. Their gochujang tastes like home to me and I hope to see them reach Austin one day soon. read more

My only complaint is they didn't give me Husband ordered a hot plate of kimchi rice with bulgogi and over easy egg and spinach as his topping. His only complaint is that food was too hot. Be warned if you are hungry and don't have the patience to blow your food before every bite, don't order the hot stone plate. Just get the regular plate. The food stays hot/warm so you may not be able to eat as fast. Teenager son ordered a regular plate with white rice, bulgogi and scrambled eggs. Two younger ones ordered a kids meal, one with chicken and one with bulgogi. $5.99 for a pretty size serving and a cookie or a juice box. This place is so bomb!! Our first time trying bibimbop (late bloomer) and this was the best place to do it. I ordered the pineapple galbi steak hot stone pot and my boyfriend had the spicy bulgogi hot stone pot. Both were absolutely delish! I felt like there was a good meat to rice to veggies proportions. You get to choose what kind of rice and what sides you want in the bowl (I got everything) meat was super flavorful and tender. Be careful not to burn your tongue! Lol it was so hot being that it was in hot stone pot and I had zero patience shoving it down.. The nice lady that took our order asked how everything was at the end and was so sweet. I heard so many good things about Burning Rice's new location in Dallas, and received excellent and quick service and a filling and hearty meal. Table seating is ample (great for large groups), and there's a ton of customization for picky eaters. Although I ordered the hot stone bowl with kalbi and most of the vegetables on the list (they all sounded so good), I was charged and served a bulgolgi bowl. When asked about the order, the cashier apologized and brought over a side of kalbi, even though I didn't pay for the price of a kalbi bowl, which I appreciated. All the ingredients were fresh and went together well. I'd advise that you stir all the rice as you eat so that you still get that crunchy rice texture without letting the rice burn and stick to the bottom! It keeps your food hot and makes the rice crispy, which is like, a necessity in bibimbap. I got the bowl with all the toppings, which cost nothing extra.
