Is it worth the hype and the long line? Hmm, for me it's a yes and here's why. The potatoes! I'm a huge sucker for a well made fried potato. If you find yourself at burnt crumbs please do yourself a favor and order the home fried potatoes. We've been to Burnt Crumbs twice now (once in June and another time in December) and have been satisfied both times! The soufflé pancakes are absolutely stellar, and the staff is extremely friendly (and provides great recommendations!). The pancakes and the service is five stars. The other menu items, including the burrito, biscuits, breakfast sandwich, etc., are pretty good, but against the backdrop of the outstanding pancakes can feel a little bland. Love this spot!! Tried the breakfast burrito for the first time today and it was one of the best I've ever had! I got the pico and crema on the side and opted for no onion. The egg was so fluffy, and they don't skimp on the meat. I got bacon in mine, and they did a great job of putting the other ingredients (meat, cheese, potato) all through the burrito so you never got a bite of just egg. Small touch that does wonders! Theres always a decent line to get in so plan accordingly when coming for a sit down meal. If you order to go you're able to bypass the line and pickup your food from the back of the restaurant. They have tons of yummy options and plenty of outdoor seating. The cashier this morning was phenomenal, he was very friendly and welcoming. Checked out Burnt Crumbs with a friend for Sunday brunch and was delighted by really great food! I ordered the Breakfast Fried Rice and really liked it. The egg on top really completed it. My friend got the Carne Asada Omelette which comes with a side of potatoes. I tried a bite of his plate and the potatoes were sooooooo crispy!! It was my favorite part. My favorite of everything were the soufflé pancakes. I do have a sweet tooth so there's a bias, but the pancakes were perfectly fluffy and light. We ordered the strawberry flavor and I absolutely hate strawberries, but I still really enjoyed the pancakes. We waited about 15 minutes in line plus about another 5-10 for our food which wasn't bad at all, but we sat there for a few hours and I noticed the line definitely got a lot longer as the day went on. This place is extremely popular; be prepared for a long wait if you come on the weekend. The team does everything in their power to have the menu available to have people make decisions prior to ordering (even though some customers don't take advantage of this) and is very quick at getting your order input and expedited upon ordering. Very impressive. I didn't get to see the inside, other than the ordering counter, as it was a packed Sunday morning. All inside seating was taken. Had to eat outside with the birds on wet tables, but it was a cool breezy day, not exactly a bad option (the birds only get really involved if food is left out, unattended). We ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage, which comes with home fried potatoes. My friend ordered the 2 egg breakfast with scrambled eggs well done, Texas toast with a side of bacon. Regardless of the exceptionally long line and wait to order, food came out inexplicably fast, hot and visibly mouthwatering. My burrito was jammed packed with sausage, pico de gallo, eggs and home potatoes....but unfortunately I couldn't taste the cheddar cheese or the much desired cilantro crema that I was looking so forward to. A little heartbreaking....but this burrito is hearty and the sausage, eggs and pico were fantastically fresh and savory. The burrito tortilla was thin and perfect to wrap all this goodness inside. Based on the home fried potatoes alone, this would be a 5 star meal. I have never had home fried potatoes so perfectly fried, seasoned with soft, pillowy potatoes inside. My friend loved the bacon on her 2 egg plate...it was thick cut and fried to a crisp without being burnt. The Texas toast is no joke...thick, heavily buttered and toasted through. Her only complaint is that the well done eggs were really well done. When we were given options on the scrambled type it was soft scrambled or well done, wished for a medium option. They have a few indoor seats but most people opt to sit outdoors especially if there's good weather. Con to the outdoor seating is that a lot of the tables aren't clean as they are kind of the plaza's common space. Service is extremely fast though, once you order, unless you got the jiggly pancakes. You can see how golden and well-cooked they are - they had that perfect crispy texture that makes breakfast potatoes so satisfying. I've always been a bit familiar with burnt crumbs because they used to cater Monday morning breakfast with my old employer like 2017-2019 or so. And it was pretty decent food but nothing spectacular. They would only take your ultra typical breakfast food to Houzz. Several Folks told me that their menu and quality was vastly different at their bric n mortar so it was on my list to check out. The consistent long ass lines I'd notice every time I'd drop off my dog at the vet next door always got me curious. Finally tried it and it was pretty good. I definitely regret not getting the chilaquiles though! I gotta the breakfast burrito with carne asada and a side of their super tasty and crispy breakfast potatoes. As for their pancake soufflé. It's not the best I've had by a long shot but I won't knock it down too much until I try the original or berry compote one (I knew I should've gone with the host / cashiers recommendation). Overall I'd recommend checking it out. Food is tasty and the overall service and customer care is really good. And food comes out in a surprisingly timely fashion for how busy this damn place gets. Delicious, would go again! This is as easy to find location located in a populated shopping area with ample parking. The line was moderate but moved quickly. The staff was friendly and efficient and the location was clean. My order was to go and was prepared in roughly ten minutes despite it being busy. I ordered two things to go - the breakfast sandwich and the fluffy pancakes. The breakfast sandwich is delicious! I got it with over medium eggs, but I wish I would've gotten them over easy. It came with cheddar cheese, eggs, bacon, on a brioche bun with tangy aioli. This also comes with a side of crispy potatoes. The sandwich was soft and warm and delicious. The potatoes were well seasoned and moderately crispy, despite getting them to go. I also got the fluffy pancakes with berry compote. I didn't eat them until later in the day, and they kept so well! They remained fluffy and light. There was minimal berry compote in the to go container, I could've done with more as it was very tasty. A nice touch is that they were packaged deconstructed so the pancakes did not get soggy. Ultimately, I was impressed that the food was so delicious and kept so well - breakfast food does not always travel well. It was a little expensive for the portion size, but it is Irvine. read more

Brunt Crumbs was great. When you get to the shopping area where it's located, you get in line, scan the QR code for the menu, and be prepared to order. We called Burnt Crumbs and they said at that moment it was about 15 minutes. So we rushed out as soon as we could and the wait wasn't bad at all. It wasn't the quickest (not due to Brunt Crumbs, but more because people were unprepared to order). When it was our turn to order, we decided on the strawberry soufflé pancakes, spaghetti grilled cheese, and carne asada omelette. The guy who was taking our order was so nice and personable. He was giving me total positive reinforcement as I was ordering. Outside, there's a sign warning people about the birds. They're no joke. They're all over the place. We picked a table and waited for our food to come out. The wait wasn't long at all. The weather was so nice and we were enjoying the sunshine. All three dishes were delicious. Stopped by Burnt Crumbs because it was on my cousin's list to try out here in the OC. We had a mixed experience! I had to try the soufflé pancake after seeing it on their menu. We went with the original, but the texture just wasn't for me, and the filling didn't add much to the experience. A bit disappointed because I've been looking for good soufflé pancakes near my area. On a brighter note, the spaghetti grilled cheese was a fun, unique twist I couldn't pass up. The first bite was tasty, though a bit on the salty side for me. Still, all the flavors worked well together, and the portion size was generous. I was disappointed they were out of the fried rice, especially since it's a popular item that apparently sells out. The food here is VERY good. This is a more or less classic American spot with a twist. They have the soufellet pancakes and some other interesting options on the menu. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because between the sides and entrees it feels very narrowed thinking from a menu aspect. That does not downplay the fact that the food itself is incredible! My husband LOVES this place. Whenever we are in Irvine, this is the go-to place he wants to stop at. The service is typically pretty quick and there is plenty of outdoor seating I usually get the bacon breakfast burrito, he gets the breakfast quesadilla with carne asada. We both usually get the soufflé pancakes and we get one to go for our mother in law. Ok brioche bun and the potatoes on the side were so great loved em 10/10. Only taking of 1 star bcs personally I thought the egg and cheese sandwich was a little plain (although I know some people love their food a little more simple). It had a hot sauce solo on it that I honestly couldn't taste but I put on my own hot sauce and it was great! Checked this off my daughter's list this weekend. We went on Sunday at around 1pm. The wait to order was about 10 minutes. Food was served about the same time as our wait to order. There are limited indoor seats, more tables outdoor; which is not ideal for summer time in 90 degrees heat. There are ceiling fan I noticed but it was not on.
