This is a great spot - we pulled in on the way up to Torrey from Bryce. The trout was as good as it gets. We felt like we were back in San Francisco. We're total food snobs. The food here was legit. Everything was excellent during our stop at the Burr Trail Grill. Traveling from Capitol Reef NP to Bryce Canyon, this was a perfect midway stop. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. There's seating inside and outside. Once you order they give you a number to take to your table and bring your food out when it's ready. We had the BTG burger and fried chicken sandwich, both with the potato wedges and fry sauce. There wasn't one thing we didn't like about our meal. The house baked brioche buns were amazing, as well as the house made pickles and slaw on the chicken sandwich. Highly recommend stopping here if you are passing through! I will admit I am basing my review off of three items, and what we didn't have smelled better than what we did, so it is very likely this place is four stars. The staff is awesome, how quickly they were turning tables was unbelievable. We had the risotto cakes, the potato wedges and some pie. They were all very good, and I wanted all the burgers, I just couldn't bring myself to get one as we had a house full of food 3/4 of a mile away. I want to come back to this place. read more

I'm not sure if they are roasted then fried or baked then fried or fried then roasted...whatever it was, I LOVED them and the seasoning was perfection. And to top off the night we got two pieces of ginger berry pie! A MUST STOP and a definite revisit for me! If you are in Scenic Highway 12 this should be times as a perfect lunch spot for food, scenery, ambience, service and pie. This was a pure delight. It's sometimes tough satisfying two adults eating towards the healthy side and kids craving volume. This place fulfilled our needs and wants. We started with the fried polenta, red peppers and goat cheese on caramelized onions. Definitely would have this again - I just wish I'd taken a photo to share. Mains were the Red Rocks Burger, recommended by our attentive server (by the way all the servers were on top of their game and know that they have a good business model reliant on their attitude and attentiveness) - but in my view the Turkey, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato was the star of the show. Real shredded turkey - not sliced which was nice for a change. Leave room for dessert. Their scratch made pies are indescribable. Awesome is a good start. We had the Ginger Berries, the Chocolate Whisky AND the Caramel Apple. Top it all off with home made vanilla ice cream and you have food heaven! We're staying at Bryce Canyon and will definitely be traveling 50 miles to eat here again before our Utah National Park tour is done. read more

Really nice staff and cool outdoor patio. We ordered the Thai Burger, Pan Fried Chicken and Ginger Berry Pie. The toppings on the burger were fantastic and flavorful, but the bun was too crisp and dry and although the patty was cooked perfectly, it was not seasoned properly, bland. The burger was served with potato logs which were SO good, but I only got four small wedges. For the price of the burger ($17!), I wish they could spare more of something that wouldn't break the bank. The chicken was served with mashed potatoes and broccolini and all was pretty tasty. The sauce over the top brought everything together. The filling of the pie was really good and something different, but I was disappointed in the thick/dry pie crust. Overall, the food was good, but the prices were so high that I can't justify a higher rating. read more

This is easily one of the best places I have eaten in a very long time. I can see why they have such a high score on Yelp! The boyfriend and I had just driven up the Hell's Backbone corridor from Escalante and were starving! This was the first place to pop up for Boulder, UT. The spot has ample parking and the group of people that were working at the time were very courteous and friendly. The look of the grill itself is sort of that rustic/urban/modern look that seems to be growing more popular. It was clean and moderately slow when we got there, but as we sat, it definitely started filling up. I ordered the forager burger and the boyfriend ordered the red rock burger. Both were heavenly! We also got the fries green tomatoes to split as an appetizer. If you stop here, even if you detest tomatoes, you have to try them. They were firm and crunchy and juicy and tender all at the same time!! Seriously, if you're in the area and you're hungry, make this the place you stop to grab a bite to eat. read more

Dirt storm and all, so glad I found this place. It's a little hipster joint, & yes I loved it! WOW! Food was amazing we started with the cauliflower/corn appetizer which was so yummy it had a hint of spiciness that was just perfect! For my main course I had a specialized burger my taste buds went crazy when they met the tasty caramelizad onions, sautéed mushrooms and the juicy, fresh meat along with the crispy lettuce on some fresh buns. Since everything was so good, we couldn't leave without trying their pies; we had their peach, apple & chocolate mousse with whiskey all three were good. My boyfriend brought me here finally after talking it up for a year. He knows people that used to work here and some that still do and I've heard nothing but good things. It was pretty late and close to closing time but they were happy to welcome us in. We weren't terribly hungry so we got a salad and an entree to share. Flavor profiles were amazing. Loved the salad, it was refreshing. We couldn't pass on dessert, in fact we each ordered our own slice of pie. Definitely never skip dessert. It was the perfect end to the meal. This stop was recommended by friends when they found out we would be driving past it on our tour through several parks. I would not have expected such quality and creative menu items at this small little pull out. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was excellent. The sandwich was just slightly spicy, the coleslaw was just right, and the overall combination of ingredients made for a great sandwich. Also pictured is one of their burgers that my parents split. The potatoes wedges that came with our meal were delicious--the only problem was that we all wanted more! We finished our meal with some of their homemade pie. We tried the apple and spiced cherry--the apple was a little sweet, but I would easily eat either flavor again! The atmosphere was fun and staff was very friendly and helpful. En route from Bryce Nat'l Park to Capitol Reef Nat'l Park my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to grab a bite and something to warm us up - it had been 35° on Bryce Canyon that morning. After driving for a while with no sign of food we came into the town of Boulder, UT and saw signs for two restaurants: Burr Trail Grill and Hells Backbone Grill. As the two are right next to each other we opted for the one with less traffic at that moment, and boy it was a good decision. I got my coffee and the boyfriend got his beer to warm up and we split two different sandwiches that we're equally awesome. The first was the purple haze sandwich (that day's special) with eggplant and all sorts of other veggies, the second was the Thai something or other burger which had a spicy peanut sauce on it. SO FREAKING​ GOOD. The wait staff was also super friendly and attentive. If I ever find myself in Boulder, UT again you can bet I will.be stopping by here. read more
