Had a deliciously homey and authentic meal here, and I especially loved it on a cold, chilly spring day. The restaurant itself is very small, probably ideal for groups of 2-4, but my group of 6 managed to snag a table after about 15 min of waiting. The menu is simple and straightforward - you can choose from a variety of individual-sized Korean soups, larger share-able hot pots, and several meat platters. I tried Soon Dae Guk (Korean sausage with ox bone soup) and loved it. The dish came with generous amounts of tender pork slices and sausages; I was actually surprised that I kept finding more as I dug deeper! The broth was also so flavorful that I ended up finishing the soup before the meats in it (oops). But yep, that's how tasty the broth was. My friends and I also shared the jokbal, which is a tasty serving of pig trotters. Sounds a little strange at first (especially when translated), but this dish is always a crowd favorite. Live bug was in the paperbag.. called the restaurant and the customer service was ridiculously arrogant. The lady owner reacted as it was nothing. I brought the whole food back to the restaurant but the owner did not throw that food away, rather put those food in the back to be served to next customer. They initially offered a partial refund with replacing the whole food I ordered but once I returned the whole food, they just re-make the food without partial refund which they offered. I asked back about the partial refund but they just said sorry as it was nothing and ignored my comment. I can't believe this restaurant is one of the popular place in Fort Lee, NJ. Since the pandemic started, this has become my favorite to-go Korean food place! Whenever I get an Uber eats coupon, we're always ordering from here. Our favorites are Dae Ji Gook Bap, Soondae Guk, and Jook bal. We've had the Soo Yook before here and it was also delicious, but for the price we thought it was quite steep for the little amount of soo yook they gave you. The broth here is unbeatable for their soups. It is clean, and flavorful, you know there's no one of the MSG nonsense in there. This is my version of comfort food! The jook pal is cooked and marinated very well too. They give you a decent size portion for that too. They give you kimchi and radish kimchi for your side dishes and they taste delicious every time! Plus they give you a very good amount to have leftovers. I'm so glad I found this little place. This is definitely a well known place amongst Koreans for its authentic food! I've been coming here a lot more since COVID started. It's a very homey Korean restaurant that serves healthy-hearty food that tastes like it comes from a family kitchen. My favorite dishes here are the gamja-tang, guk-bap, and dak-dori-tang. They always pack us plenty of kimchi to enjoy with out meal and I love having enough leftovers for days! They don't have patio dining from what I could tell. But, they are very proficient in packing our meals for takeout (and even give us extra!) 5/5 recommend this local restaurant. This was such a delightful surprise on a snowy evening! My friends and I received this recommendation, and as we were in the mood for comfort food, we decided to try this place after we left the sauna. This is a classic mom and pop, hole-in-the-wall operation in North Jersey. There are only a handful of tables and the space is very tiny. That is already a good sign of authentic Korean food. Tip: there was a group of 8 of us, so if you're opting to come in with a large crowd, come as early as possible and they will most likely separate you into two tables. The menu was one page with soup/stew options for dinner. We decided to share a place of blood sausage, sliced pork and pork intestine as an appetizer, and we each ordered a stew or a soup for ourselves. I ordered the Sagolhaejanggramyeon (beef ramen), and boy was it filling! The meat platter was delightfully topped with slices of hearty and tender pork, intestines and blood sausage. Fast, tasty, and no-frills. Busan Gukbap has solid food at reasonable prices. I'm particularly partial to the daeji gukbap (boiled pork in bone soup), but their kimchi jjigae/soup, dakdori tang, and soon dae guk are great as well. They have a small menu and they seem to do each item very well. One gripe that I have is that their kimchi tends to be generally pretty salty. Perhaps this is so that you can enjoy it with the stew or soups, but personally, I find their kimchi and kkakdugi nearly impossible to eat on their own. Also, there is a bit of randomness of their Sooyuk (boiled pork slices). Sometimes the meat-to-fat ratio is fine, but other times the ratio of fat and/or cartilage is too high. As a +$20 menu item, the amount and inconsistency in ratio is just not worth it most of the time. read more

Mom and pop shop. Came during prime lunch time and there was a line starting in the shop. Not many tables, will be hard for larger groups. Very simple menu. I got the daegi gukbap (boiled pork slices in ox bone soup) and sagol haejangramyeon (beef soup hangover ramen) as well as a plate of jokbal (pig trotters). Both soups came steaming hot. The ramen texture was perfectly al dente when it arrived. Both soups were so hot and took a while to make a slight dent. Comp sides are simple - radishes, kimchi. The jokbal also came with some sauces - it is bland on its own. We don't speak Korean and did not have any trouble. Parking was not hard - there is a lot in the back. read more

What a FANTABULOUS find! A group of friends and I discovered this place on Google Maps while searching for restaurants to eat at in Fort Lee last night and we were immediately hooked on the photos of their delicious guk () aka Korean stew. We went at around 8pm and sadly, most of their menu items were sold out (which showed how popular they are with the locals), so we got their Kimchi Jjigae, Soondae Guk, and Haenentang. I was able to try all the stews we ordered and damn... all the stews were packed with SO much flavor and all the meat and veggies were so fresh and delicious. They also give you so much food for such a low price compared to NYC prices (my Soondae Guk was around $11 and I couldn't finish my meal). Definitely worth the trek. I need to come back to try their Jokbal, since they ran out when we got there... I saw other people eating it and it looked so delectable... When we ordered our entrees we were told the meat was not ready but the the soondae was still available. We ordered the soondae and were informed during our dinner the meat (idk the name) was ready. The meat which usually accomplices the soondae came out and it was very disappointing. They rushed through it. It wasn't Falling apart in your mouth as usual but tough and very chewy. I love Gukbap, but it is a challenge to find a good place, and even when I find one, the restaurant closes or its taste changes, making it even more difficult to count on one. This is my new go-to place for Gukbap now, and I hope it stays that way for awhile. I only tried Soondae Gukbap but would love to try its side menu and other Gukbap. Great takeout spot. Consistent, fast, and delicious! My fave is their daeji gukbap, which is a pork based soup. Recommend adding the small container of spice to give it some kick. Eat the pork slices with some of the salty shrimp, followed by some crunchy radish = heaven! We constantly get the ddakdori tang (spicy chicken stew) - if you're sensitive to spice, this might not be for you. It is incredibly tasty but super spicy. Since visiting Busan 2 years ago with my sister, we miss dwaeji (pork) gukbap very much. Dwaeji gukbap is a specialty in Busan and a must eat. The dwaegi gukbap we had in Busan was one of our most favorite foods while visiting Korea. Sadly, there is no korean restaurants that sell authentic busan pork gukbap in brooklyn, manhattan or queens. We did some research and found that this shop in Fort Lee NJ has it and the reviews were exemplary. Traveling from NYC to Fort Lee to eat the pork gukbap here was worth it!! The soup was as close (in taste) to the one we ate in Busan. It was soooo delicious and that radish kimchi was so crunchy and tasty! Happy to know that there is a place that sells pork gukbap, but also sad because this place is very far from us. I guess we will come back here whenever we decide to go to NJ. We didn't know Korean and did not have any problems ordering. Space is very small but you are coming for the food not the decor. read more

This place was hopping! My mom and I came here to cure my awful cold (brought on by the polar vortex and the ensuing sudden shift in weather) with a earthenware bowl of bubbling hot soondae gookbap. I already knew what to expect because my mom had bought me this wonderful ambrosia multiple times before this trip. This place is what Koreans would call a "matjip," an authentic Korean restaurant serving only the most delicious and awesome specials. I bought another order to go but my dad ate it upon arrival (I was recoop-ing). So that was DOA. It's been 48 hours since I last had it and I'm craving it again. I must have my soondae gakbap!!! The pork slices in the soup is so perfectly tender... sometimes my tastebuds mistake them for beef. The portions are super generous. The diced radish kimchi and the kimchi was sooo good. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in. I've heard great things and have been wanting to dine here for over a year. It was definitely worth the wait. There are only about 5-6 tables and I love the feel of almost eating in someone's kitchen, like so many home style restaurants used to be. The menu is small and excellent quality food. Delicious traditional kimchi with fish flavoring - some of the best I've ever had - along with spicy radishes offered for banchan. My friend and I both had the spicy pork rib and potato soup, with green onion and string beans mixed in - excellent flavorful, slow cooked. I asked for a dish of soondae, which is blood sausage for anyone who doesn't know. Even though it didn't appear on the menu on its own (although I saw it online on their menu offered as a side dish), they obliged; I wish I knew more about the ingredients but the flavor was excellent - even if you think blood sausage might not appeal to you, I recommend it. Not only is blood highly nutritious but they make it very appealing - mixed with rice and what tasted like a hint of cinnamon. I wish I could describe it better but it's unique. The portions are generous and I wound up taking soondae home. This place is the real deal for hardcore traditional Korean cuisine, I surmise by the name, more akin to the city of Busan. read more
