I'm afraid there has been little improvement here since my last visit. I am very disappointed. The staff were very nice and this time I tried take out - a good thing because the place is disgusting with tables not cleaned and dirty customer dishes just sitting on top of the counters. I ordered the Nashville Chicken sandwich which fell apart in my hands when I got home. It looked great in the box but the focaccia bread was either stale or a poor choice for this dish. Both halves of the sandwich ended up in a pile on my plate. My wife got the salmon and even though I ordered it medium rare, she said it was overcooked. We live in the neighborhood and this mall now has many better options, so I likely won't be back. read more

This place was a delightful surprise. Great atmosphere, friendly and very helpful staff and so great looking options. I choose the tri-tip bowl with veggies and was impressed with the taste, the temperature, the freshness. I am so tired of places that microwave food to reheat it, so it's so great to find a place that actually cares about serving food fresh! I will definitely be going back here often and try a few other options in the menu. Waiting in line and given sass by the cashier she was working the "online only" register- so I assumed it was for online orders...excuse ME I can't read your mind when you're working the wrong register. Asked if it was too late for breakfast at 12:01, yes it was. No consideration that we helped our elderly friend walk across the parking lot in the rain in an umbrella causing us to show up 5 min late. Even though I physically handed them the hair inside the burger (in the avocado) they debated it. And they also have my brother the wrong order. I inhaled the En Fuego burger - cooked medium well - so delicious! Flavored so well I did not even need any ketchup. Husband thought the roasted vegetables were better than other restaurants. Second time here. First time was a disappointment so I waited a couple years before getting the nerve to try again. Ordered a salad at 4 pm for a 6:15 pickup. Prepaid and pre tipped. What a mistake. Not only was my order not ready when I got there, but they did not communicate anything to me about the status. I was convinced someone might have taken it off of the pick up counter by mistake. So I waited 10 minutes in line and asked the cashier just to find out they didn't make the salad because they no longer offer the salad. they had my email and my phone number, but didn't bother to call and communicate to me. There was nothing else on the menu that appealed to me and I would have gone somewhere else had I been given the option in advance. The food was fresh and the variety was great. My husband and son both greatly enjoyed the spicy burger. I had the chicken on focaccia. It was definitely fresh & quality. However, the overall flavor was a tad bland and it was really hard to eat as the bread was so soft. I think I'd go for a salad next time instead. The service was fast & friendly. The only detractor was that the inside tables were not cleared/cleaned off. We wanted to sit inside as it was rainy. There were a few open tables, but none were cleared or cleaned. Yes, the last time was a not so great experience with the service pre-covid. However, I decided to take a chance and come back as soon as restaurants were open and people were able to dine in again. I also figured that it had been some time since the last visit and I was sure to see some changes. When I arrived, let's just say the service definitely improved. They hired new employees whom were all more upbeat and pleasant. Everyone was following covid procedures and social distancing. The food was excellent as always and just as I had remembered it to be. My only gripe is that I find myself having to wipe down the tables and seats outside before I occupy it. We came here because they had sweet potato fries but they actually had a great selection to choose from. We had the brisket bowl, a Tri tip sandwich (sliced like roast beef), sweet potato fries, Brussel sprouts and even tried their cookies. I have enjoyed the food many times. Having celiac disease, I have often ordered a side of "gluten free bun" to take home and use for a sandwich or burger. Instead of a bun, i was given a small piece (1"x1"x 5") of dry bread, which cost $2. Very disappointed. read more

Asked for my burger done medium well, was given a rare burger. I sent it back and the chef assured me he was going to make it medium well. I got served a piece of burnt rubber basically. Before I even took a bite I could tell this thing had been overcooked by miles. Took one bite and all I could taste was the burnt char and the when you over cook meat like that is dryer than the Sahara desert. I didn't know it was possible to mess up a burger this bad. Needless to say I won't ever be back to this again establishment. Especially since it seems like their janitor was the chef on that day. I left my full burger on the table I wish I had a pen in paper to tell you how bad you guys did right then and there. read more

Man, did I want to love Bushfire Kitchen. Out in Del Mar, gorgeous venue, great concept, fantastic looking food ... a bit lacking in everything else for me. At first glance, the restaurant itself is gorgeous. Great flow to the space they use, a nice outdoor dining area, and an abundance of counter space where I found that they cook and serve their food cafeteria style, like you find at Boston Market or some restaurants at Disneyland. Large platters of dishes are cooked and brought out under heat lamps to await being carved and scooped to order. All of it looks delicious and you get a great idea of the cuisine they serve. Going outside, we found that the "pet free" zone was completely full, forcing us to sit in the "pet friendly" section, which was both larger in size and only had one other occupant who had a chess board with their dinner, but no dog. There were multiple children, most of whom seemed to be coming from various karate classes, running around screaming and giggling while their parents drank wine and mostly ignored them. When one of them knocked an older woman into a table, knocking utensils and glasses all over the ground, his mother called him out by name. And I swear to Christ, his name was "Arrow". I'm pretty sure his brother or friend's name was "Apple", too. "Looking good there, Arrow. Can you tell Uncle Mason what you want to be when you grow up?" "I want to be an asshole!" "I bet your dad is proud of you, champ! That trust fund is waiting for ya'!" Anyway, I had the Californian Burger severed with a side of their French Fries. The meat itself was underwhelming, not seasoned well, though it had a nice char on the outside to help keep it juicy despite the lack of flavor. Everything else on it, however, was damned impressive. The arugula added a nice bit of pepper, the tomato was well cut and lightly sweet, and those pickled onions were very tasty. Still, it couldn't help elevate that blandly disappointing patty. My lady love had the BBQ Tri-Tip with the Seasonal Grilled Veggies. The sandwich itself was served on focaccia, which would be pretty low on my list of bread selection. Here, it was dry, crumbly, and didn't serve well to hold her sandwich together. She ended up leaving it behind and just picking out the meat and cheese, finding the tri-tip very dry and bland without dipping it into her BBQ sauce first. The veggies themselves looked brilliant, but after biting into the onion, we found that just waving them over the grill was the extent of their cooking as they were slightly warm, but essentially raw; I personally was hoping for a bit of caramelized sweetness out of that carrot. Our son had the Kids' Menu Chicken Fingers and some of Grandma's Mac & Cheese. The chicken looked like it had been cut fresh, but the Shake n' Bake style crust on it, as well as the dryness of the meat, sure made it feel like they were frozen out of a bag. Still, the flavor certainly wasn't too horrible, though he refused to eat more than one of his strips. As for his macaroni, I think it's safe to say that grandma's secret ingredient is a Costco sized drum of black pepper. Seriously, I was the only one at the table that could stomach it (I usually pepper the shit out of most soups and pastas I eat ), and even I found it to be a bit too much. In the end, I was really disappointed, but I honestly want to come back and give it another try. It may have been a slow night, meaning most entrees spent a bit too long drying out on the counter, or someone wasted all the spice on that mac & cheese, leaving the burgers and tri-tip without much flavoring. Regardless, the menu is too tempting and the style is too inviting to stay away for good. Until then, though, I leave with just below average view of Brushfire. read more

Bushfire is our all time favorite go-to takeout restaurant. The selection is wide ranging with something for everyone of delicious healthy food. My favorite is the Quinoa power bowl with salmon . I could eat that everyday with the orange dressing! They really focus on quality ingredients and the online ordering process is easy and efficient.
