Would probably give 3.5 stars! It was good, just not great. The food was good, cooked well, just a few items lacked flavor. The fried rice was pretty bland and none of my party liked the Mac salad. Their sauces and chicken were delicious, and the service was good! Our food came out quickly. I like that they have indoor and outdoor self seating. Though our table was a little sticky. Overall, i liked the spot. Would come again if I have a special hankering, but don't know that I'd go out of my way after this visit.

I'd give the food a 4/5. I got a katsu chicken hi-plate and the portion was good for what I paid. The slice of pineapple was also a nice surprise I wasn't expecting and was great for taking a bite in between the entree to reset my palate. I took a point off because the katsu was a little burnt and wouldve been perfect if it was done for a minute or so less. I like that they provide the house sauces on the side counter so you can add more katsu sauce if the dish is tasting a bit dry. There's seating both inside and outside so it makes for a scenic dinner if weather permits. Overall, I think I have to come back to give the katsu another chance or try something else!

Delicious! I ordered to go but definitely want to dine in sometime this summer cause the vibes inside and on the patio seem great! I ordered the lumpia and garlic shrimp. The lumpia were simple but the sauce it comes with made it a perfect side. The garlic shrimp was super flavorful and the pasta salad was creamy. I think next time I'll get the spicy cucumber salad to break up the textures a bit more.

This is true Hawaiian food served up with love by Hawaiians! I love everything about Buzz's, and I'm so glad it's in STL and right next to my favorite bar. Buzz's has counter service and their own dining space, plus they're connected inside to the Tick Tock Tavern--you can order your food, take your little order number sign next door, and have your delectable dishes brought right to you! I like Buzz's Poke Bowl alongside a TTT Gin Rickey, but Buzz's serves plenty of non-alcoholic drinks, including tropical juices and such, if that's more your thing. The menu's rather long, but feel free to ask questions; I do that often & the staff is always gracious and patient. There's a noodle soup, teriyaki chicken, Spam musubi, and so much more I could recommend... and don't be put off by "macaroni salad" on the menu. This isn't the same stuff your auntie may have made for the church picnic, swimming in Miracle Whip... it's somehow well-dressed but still crisp and not too heavy. I haven't had a bad meal from Buzz's, and I've probably been there at least 20 times--dining in, carrying out, and eating next door. Love what they're doing!

Enjoyed a tasty lunch with short ribs, kalua pork, rice & mac salad with both pineapple & strawberry dole whip for dessert! Great dog-friendly patio. They were extremely busy, but everyone was very nice! After our trip to Hawaii just a couple months ago, we could tell the food was so authentic & delicious, a perfect taste of the islands.

Love this place!! Such an awesome spot to grab some Hawaiian and a dole whip. The food is amazing, we got skewers and the chicken plate with rice and macaroni. The dole whip was also awesome. It's a small space but they offer in restaurant seating and it's connected to the bar next to it, giving you the opportunity to utilize that side for sitting and grabbing a drink. The vibes were cozy, the people were nice and helpful. Overall, would highly recommend for some authentic Hawaiian.

First timers at Buzz's and I was pleasantly surprised. I tried Hawaiian bros once and did not enjoy the food, therefore I thought I would have the same experience here. I was wrong! The food is so flavorful and tastes homemade. Although not pictured the Kalua Pig was also very flavorful (could've use more sauce but they have a sauce area in the restaurant so not a problem at all). The sandwiches are more slider like, so do not expect a huge meaty sandwich but expect good flavor. For a $16 mixed plate, you get your moneys worth. They were out of steak so I'm looking forward to coming back and trying it. Ambiance was calm and clean while the service was friendly!

My family was visiting relatives in St. Louis a week ago and we stayed around the corner from Buzz and the tavern. (They are connected through a hallway.) You can order takeout or order your dishes and eat in the restaurant or the tavern. They seem pretty casual about it. The food was excellent (not a lot of veggies overall, but there are vegetarian options). The service in both establishments was friendly and casual (as one would expect in the Midwest!). I got a blue Hawaiian cocktail to go with my dinner. It was delish. I highly recommend stopping by!

A friend and I went and enjoyed their patio, which they share with the bar next door. I tried the Musubi, Manapua, and a small side of kimchi--very highly recommend the Manapua! I didn't care for their kimchi. The interior is very casual and cute, and the service was top-notch. It's nice that there is a bar next door as well, so you can grab an alcoholic beverage and enjoy it on the shared patio while you eat as well.

Aloooohhaaa! As someone who was an island resident for a year, I feel qualified for this review. I loved the food! The kalbi rib was tender and had so much meat on it. The teri steak was incredibly flavorful. The chicken katsu could have been crispier but having it for take out could have impacted that. The lilikoi bar tasted like it straight from the island! This is a must get! Do yourself a favor and try some food from here

    Musubi
    Kenneth K.

The kuala pig and spicy shrimp were absolutely delicious, and the musubi was solid. I was a little underwhelmed by the poke -- maybe I had high expectations, but it turned out just okay. I was also looking forward to the pepper water, hoping it would add a tangy, spicy vinaigrette-like kick, but it tasted more like mildly spiced water with hardly any vinegar. Overall, it's a decent spot when you're craving Hawaiian food.

They sent my meal with no sauce making this completely inedible DRY PORK. Then Liza, who answered the phone hung up on me when I called. They did not remedy the situation in any way. Also, the gross little spam thing tasted like rotten fish. I wanted to like them, but I can't see this place being in business long. Rude and disgusting food. Should be ashamed to be in the service industry Update: I was not cussing throughout the conversation and never in either conversation did they suggest a remedy to the situation, I do not consider this behavior professional and I was hung up the first time by Eliza, who should be fired. I still have the food. I can bring it in today and you can taste it and tell me if that is a product you stand by. Trying to undermine and disparage dissatisfied customers is a low route to take, but in line with the customer service I've received so far. I'm sure what Eliza didn't tell you is that my initial request on the phone was that I was disappointed and needed them to do better in assuring orders are correct. That is when I was hung up on.

Anytime I'm in St. Louis, I always have a craving for Hawaiian food. Typically I go to Hawaiian Bros, but they're so far away I decided to look for an alternative option. I settled on Buzz's Hawaiian Grill. Inside is cute, your typical Hawaiian decor. The staff was ok, the food came out relatively quick. The Loco Moco was good, although I prefer less sticky rice. The beef skewer was perfect, the chicken one was too burnt. I might try them again the next time I'm in town.

The line wasn't too long, but I did notice it's set up a little differently than I remember. They now use more of the building, so the line runs down the hallway and loops into the restaurant, with two ordering counters available. While you're waiting, they have menus to look at and even a QR code if you'd rather pull it up on your phone. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes before ordering. Once we got to the counter, everything moved quickly. The staff member helped us right away and let us know they'd bring the food out to our table, which I was glad hasn't changed. One thing I did notice is that the original ordering/dining area is no longer open for seating, it looks like it's now used for staff and possibly catering/to-go orders. They have their drink station available for self-service and offer sodas and sweet and unsweet tea options as well as water. Luckily, there's still plenty of seating in the newer dining area, plus a good number of outdoor tables if you want to sit at a picnic table and enjoy the weather. Within a few minutes, we heard our names called and our food came out fast. And honestly, it was just as good as ever. I was especially happy with the sweet potato fries, and even though applesauce isn't anything fancy, it's kind of the perfect side for me at Pappy's. I ended up eating about half of my meal and boxing the rest up for dinner later, which is always a win. Overall, such a great spot, and I'm really glad it's so close to work. Definitely still a fan and will keep going back.

My research brought me here to Pappy's. I'm very glad it did. Ambiance starts with a line out the door, literally. You slowly shuffle down a long hallway full of Pappy's memorabilia. Then you make it to the ordering counter, order, and find a table. The dining room is huge, plenty of tables, with a full complement of sauces on each table. The service people at the counter were friendly, and so were the people delivering the food. The food came out quick and hot and delicious. We had baked beans and potato salad for sides, and they were pretty solid. Nothing show-stealing, but no complaints about them whatsoever. And of course, we got the ribs. Tender, juicy, a nice bite and chew, a decent bark, just a really wonderful rib. Better than any St. Louis style rib I've ever had back home in Florida. Other states, hard to say, the jury's out, but in that moment, I was eating a five-star rib. So good. We also got a 1/4 pound of the Burnt Ends. Usually, burnt ends are the king of meats, but I think we've entered the phase of America, where they're just another variety of meat and not necessarily upper echelon anymore. That being said, these were pretty ok. Should have gotten more ribs. Overall, Pappy's was pretty wow. Great local spot with a lot of pride and history, excellent ribs, I will definitely try to come back next time I'm in town.
