    Spark plug on Amazon

Service was ok and thought not much of it until I came home to do a little research. I paid $149.28 for 6 plugs and later found out they ripped me off. Could've got the same for $55-60. That's a 170% markup! Lost around $95 on extra charge. Future customers, buy your own parts first after asking what parts they will be using. Also borrow an OB2 reader from O Riley's to save yourself $ on unneeded repairs like I did. I felt scammed knowing they could've used a 5 minute OB2 reading to let me know it was a coil problem not spark plugs, coupled with using 170% marked up parts. Wasted $400+. Felt a little predatory. Good luck Reply to Owner: I did let them know I wanted spark plugs replaced from finding a similar case online. I take blame for not using a OB2 reader before going in. However, as professionals it would have been nice if you guys performed a 5 min OB2 reading like O Riley's. It would have saved everyone parts, costs, time and business. With that said, my post was mostly about the $95 markup on parts. That's a 170% markup on parts. That's just crazy. I already paid high labor cost of $225. Hence the feeling of being scammed. Sorry if all other mechanics do this practice too

I had brought my car to get my 60K maintenance done at 8am, earlier today. I went to pick up my car at 4PM then I get a text with my information from "Oscar" stating that he's my mechanic with the confirmed place that I had just picked up my car from 3.5 hrs ago. Then he tells me they're going to charge me an additional $1200 from what I had already paid along with the company's phone number to call if I have questions. This made me so upset and frustrated. I thought I found a super close by auto shop near my house and I would be able to trust this shop and the people who work there. Vile. I am horrified and disgusted that they tricked me and threatened me with debt collectors if I did not pay them. Only after threatening them that I will be contacting the police did they state "wrong customer". I would not recommend this shop as your information cannot be confidential and who knows, others might fall for their trap and get scammed by these people.

Our BMW F30 is displaying a warning message that says: Drivetrain malfunction. Drive moderately, maximum drivetrain output not available. What would be the most probable cause for this and is your shop familiar with it to repair? Ty!

Hi Rick, there are too many possibilities for such warning to show up. The first step our technician need to do is scan the vehicle and obtain a diagnostic scan report so we can come up with a plan on how to diagnose the issue. We do repair issues…

Have a 2003 VW Jetta and we have a electric circuit switch that is open and cannot find where it is? Have you ever come across this issue before and is it something you can fix? We have to disconnect the battery every time we don't drive or it dies.

Hi Steve, did you meant to say you have an electrical draw within your system which is causing your battery to die if you do not disconnect the battery? If so, yes. We do diagnose and evaluate this type of issue here at BYOC.

Hi, do you have trailer wiring installation service for Subrau?

Hi Darong, is this a direct plug and play or require modification? We will need more information to see if we can do it or not. Very likely we can, but installation instructions are required from the manufacturer or the product company. Please…

What's the "average price" for an oil change on a Porsche Cayenne? I called this morning and was told $315? Other places do it for $120?

Hi LT, what year is your Cayenne? If other places are doing it for $120, go for it. Make sure they are using the proper oil and filter. Because my "average" BMW oil changes ranges from 140 - $180.And a Cayenne will cost in the same range if not…

I bought this "coil overs" for my 2007 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L Sedan. I'm would like you inquire of how it cost to install this "coil overs" nor do you guys do this kind of service?

Hi Dennis, yes we do install coilovers and perform an initial adjustment (height and dampening to your specifications). Please give us a call or email at us byoc2019@gmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks!

Did you retain Juan as one of your mechanics?

Yes, Juan is the mechanic here along with myself.

BEWARE -- DO NOT GO HERE!!…read more Horrible customer service, questionable diagnosis, and a very disappointing experience from start to finish. We took our work van to Stress Free Auto Care after finding them on Yelp. They were close to home and, more importantly, veteran-owned. As a company that supports veteran nonprofits, we were excited to support another veteran-owned business--even though their pricing was higher than other shops we considered. Our van had been having issues starting and randomly shutting off. They quickly diagnosed it and sent us an estimate for around $1,200, which we approved. We were told it would be ready by the end of the day and picked it up the following morning. The very next day, the van broke down multiple times on the freeway, nearly causing accidents. This was extremely dangerous and terrifying. We immediately contacted the shop and were told to bring it back. We had to leave the van at a jobsite and figure out how to get it back to San Jose, which created even more stress and disruption to our business. We dropped it off in the morning and heard nothing all day. The next morning, we had to follow up ourselves, only to be told they were still running diagnostics. We were then told there was now another issue that would cost even more to repair. If the original diagnosis was incorrect, I expected the shop to take some responsibility and offer a reasonable solution. Instead, the resolution offered was a "free" diagnostic--which is essentially already credited toward service anyway. There was no real effort to make things right, no empathy for the situation, and no meaningful resolution. We were basically told we could come pick up the van. Business owner to business owner: this is not how you take care of customers. When a customer spends over $1,200 based on your diagnosis and their vehicle breaks down immediately afterward, leaving them with a dangerous, non-operational work vehicle, you should be doing everything possible to make it right. This entire experience has been incredibly STRESSFUL. STRESS FREE AUTO CARE?! Yeah, right. Take your business elsewhere.

I only brought a $5 coupon that they had mailed to me. What I did not appreciate was the employee's attitude when I asked about the coupon. Instead of simply explaining it professionally, he responded in a rude and condescending way, as if customers are supposed to understand how their internal pricing system works. Another issue was that nobody asked me what type of oil I wanted. I later noticed they used conventional oil, even though I normally use synthetic oil in my vehicles. Customers should always be asked before that decision is made. On a previous visit with my 2026 Hyundai Palisade, they also told me they could not reset the maintenance reminder because their system computer only worked up to 2020 models, even though the reset process is very simple and can easily be found online. The oil change itself was done, but the communication, professionalism, and customer service were disappointing. Unfortunately, they lost a returning customer and earned this review because of the overall experience. Not recommended

Today that same tire I got repaired almost two years ago had a problem, and they repaired it no charge. I'll come back if I have a problem with that, but based on my experience, it'll be fine just like everything else they've done for us in the past couple of decades. They are human beings, so nobody is perfect. But this place is about as close as it gets. Just give them a break if it doesn't look like it, they may be having a bad day that one day you visited.

We had to spend another $400 to get that rim on the tire repaired and borrow a tire so we could drive home safely while we wait for the repair. Theft, negligence, incompetence, poor customer service, poor management, lack of leadership, lack of responsibility, lack of pride and ownership of work. From how I've been treated by the cashiers all the way up to corporate is all a reflection of the entire company's values and mission. And it stinks. My family's safety was at risk because their employees failed to not only do their jobs properly, but took the opportunity to take advantage of their customers due to the poor operation of their store. And they continue to fail to take responsibility and make it right. No, I know for a fact the tow truck company did not steal our stuff. My husband rode in the tow truck as our van was towed to this location. It's not even about the theft anymore, it's about failing to provide satisfactory (let alone adequate) service that I paid for! I know it is such a huge ask to expect a company to make things right after they messed up so demonstrably in every way possible, let alone expect a tire company to (gasp) actually fix a tire properly. Get it together, Wheelworks and make things right.
