Eric and his crew at BYOC are extremely reliable, honest, and professional workers. I have also gotten service at this location when the business was under the name "Milpitas Garage". With Eric running the business, the exceptional operation and service for the shop has remained consistent to how it was operated under Carlos. I went to their location near opening time to get an oil change and then took a quick walk around the corner to get sandwich. By the time I came back service was done. Once the oil change was done, I scheduled for my brake pads to get replaced on the upcoming Thursday and Eric gave me an estimate on how much the service would be. When I came back to the store on Thursday there were no changes from the estimate, service was under an hour, and they also noticed 2 of my rear lights were burnt out so they ended up changing those as well. He reminds me of a calmer, more mature George Bailey (from It's a Wonderful Life - with all of George Bailey's do-goodery) who looks like a latin american version of Itzhak Stern from Schindler's List. I brought my husband's car in for an oil change before a long trip, but found out there were also other issues with the car that needed to be addressed. Instead of just telling me what the problems were and what the recommended repairs were, Eric took me back to look under the car to actually show me exactly what was wrong. He explained everything in a way that made me understand, without making me feel stupid when I asked for clarification. He was also very honest about what had to be done immediately, vs what could wait a little longer. I needed to get the back 2 tires replaced immediately, and he recommended a shop with great prices that was very close by. Because he knew I was in a hurry, he even offered to put the tires on for me if the shop didn't have time to take care of it right away. I needed a new water pump for my Grand Caravan, and have never been to Milpitas Garage before, but I thought I'd give them a try.... I have no idea what the typical cost is for a water pump plus the labor charge, but I expected to pay between $400-$500. Carlos at Milpitas Garage quoted me $286.00, and he was finished in a couple of hours as promised. I'm pretty sure I would have been charged more elsewhere, so I'm very satisfied with this place. I went in to have my car tested and I was treated very rudely by the two men there. They acted as if I was intruding on their private business. The owner interupted my information giving process and shut me out while he questioned his employ about some parts for some job. This could have waited and he could have had a paying customer. But after standing there about 5 minutes being ignored I told them to forget it and left. I am 64 and obviously not worth the time of day. Add me to the list of satisified customers. After going to Joe's for years I suspected my oil or oil filter was not getting changed after leaving my vehicle. The oil was dark in color for full synthetic. The last 2 times I went to Joe's the quotes for service were excessive ($400.00 labor for shocks!) Then I tried Milipitas Garage LLC. The cost to change my oil was higher but they actually changed it when I left my oil and filter. The old filter looked very old like it hadn't been changed. Now my oil is clear after this shop did the work. I had them replace my water pump, altenator, serpentine belt, upper radiator hose and thermostat. I provided the parts. Total labor was $300.00. The work was flawless. They took my vehicle immediately at 8:00 AM and began working on it. It was ready by 11:30 AM. Try getting that quality of service at your dealer or Joe's who wouldn't even accept my vehicle for this service because they were under staffed. When I picked up my vehicle all the old parts were in boxes ready for me in case I had to exchange the cores. Honest and good mechanics here! read more

The brakes went out on my truck on a Sunday evening. I left my truck at Carlos' shop that night and called Carlos on Monday morning. Obviously I did not have an appointment and was not able to take my truck elsewhere. Not only did Carlos get my truck fixed before close of business on Monday, but the price was totally fair, and Carlos helped me get my truck home on his own time. The reviews are correct. I am not an expert on cars so I consult with my brothers when i asked them about what is needed to be done on my Honda Pilot. I read the owner's manual but I am a hand's on person so anything technical is just gibberish for me. Show me how to do thigs hand's on, that I can pick up without problems. I failed to do the "30K, 60K and my Pilot is due soon for the 90K. Carlos assured me that the Pilot that I have is one of the newer models so if I fail on the 30 and 60K, there should be no major problems. I also told him that I have been very diligent on the 3K though. He said this should be helpful but really not as much. But because my daughter also uses the Pilot and drives her Friends around, I had to have a mechanic to appease/reassure me that there is really nothing to worry about. Carlos obliged. He looked over the Pilot and just did the basic, really basic maintenance at a very reasonable price. He even told me to watch out for a signal on the dash board, that would tell me that it is really truly time for me to do a major tune up. I am recommending Carlos to my younger sister and to whoever want a honest goodness mechanic to check on their vehicles. Carlos is great, well informed. I'm not one to enjoy spending money on car repairs, as I come from a family of handy mechanics (though I am not one of them), but this place allowed me to be accepting of the thought, as my family is now 2500 miles away. Carlos (owner or at least manager if not owner) was amazingly friendly and helpful. After receiving quotes of horrifying amounts of money from other garages, Carlos gave me awesome quotes over the phone and stuck to them 2 weeks later when I came in. He repaired only what he felt necessary, and suggested not to repair things that someone else told me was mandatory (for a lot of money) citing that if it was his own vehicle he wouldn't bother. He then checked fluids, etc beyond the scope of his payment from me, which I appreciated, of course. My 2004 rusty Blazer from Michigan now ran better than it has since before I owned it. I've probably been to 20 different mechanics and Milpitas Garage is the most reasonable price-wise and perhaps the friendliest I've been to. Costly. The engine light of my 2001 Honda Accord turned on and brought it for diagnosis which cost $95(non-applicable to repair cost). The finding was busted A/F Oxygen Sensor and was quoted for $350 for the sensor and $60 labor, too expensive. The alternative was "Do it Yourself", purchased the part A/F Oxygen Sensor(brand is Denso, the same brand that Honda uses) which cost $148.00 at Amazon and install it. Overall, the shop is clean, staff are knowledgeable, good service but expensive. read more
