Wonderful tapas and very knowledgeable server. The non-alcoholic drinks were creative and very tasty. The bruschetta with manchego cheese was crisp on the outside and soft on top - wonderful. The charcuterie with the spreadable sausage and goat cheese was a treat with the difference in textures and tastes. The potatoes had a lovely blend of mildly hot sauces on top served in easy to eat cubes. The eggplant was so hot and delicately crisp. Our chocolate ganache dessert with sherry cubes and shredded cake with banana ice cream - how many flavors can you get on one plate? It was amazing. Stopped in with friends during restaurant week. We were sat at a cute long sturdy wooden table. I really liked the table! Restaurant week was basically 1/2 a ham sandwich and not impressive so we ordered from the menu. Out of all the food the mushroom soup was the best thing I ate. The macaroni & cheese with chorizo was very bland and over priced. I felt in general the restaurant was overpriced for what we had. The side of mushrooms and shrimp both were smothered in Sherry. Too much it was difficult to eat. My friend ordered the lamb chips she said it was good but she had better. The fried potatoes were good too but seriously I think $12 for a side of potatoes with ketchup. Service was nice he was great. Just was not impressed by the food and won't be back. What a lovely experience we had here. This is a place I would take friends and family every time we visit the area! Top notch service and food, with a great atmosphere. The menu of the day is so fun. You get to try a TON of options. Their cocktails are delicious as well and contain fresh ingredients only. Our server recommended them and he even made one of the ones on the menu. We grabbed a reservation through the Amex program and are so thrilled we did. This place was fantastic. We may have ordered so much food between 2 of us that the waiter questioned us a few times, but please consider that compliments to the chef! Favorites: jamon iberico (when in Spain), patatas bravas (BANGING), pulp (octopus), wine, kale dish, croquetas , pan con tomate with mancdessert. The service was excellent, and our plates were always removed before the next dish was brought out to make for easy sharing and a clean table. The lamb skewers were cooked perfectly and came with house made pickle slices which were a delightful surprise. Secured a late dinner reservation at Curate and decided to go with the Chefs choice. Each plate was portioned perfectly for the both of us to share, and we were able to try a variety of items on the menu. Our favorites were the octopus, mushrooms, and prosciutto! Our server gave us in depth explanations of each dish, and even brought us free dessert at the end. The atmosphere at 9pm was still very lively and the restaurant was bustling. This was probably one of the best meals I have ever experienced. My husband and I were on a weekend trip and wanted some delicious food - I am so happy we chose the right place. We unfortunately did not make a reservation but quickly found a spot in the bar where they did serve the full menu. We both had never had Spanish food before and ultimately chose " the Spanish Experience". It was $70 a person and included several courses. It was worth every single penny. Despite being at the bar the service was also excellent! My absolute favorites were the pan de tomate, the pimientos de piquillo rellenos and the lamb skewers. Everything was so well portioned and it definitely was exquisite. The flavors were so different than I am used to but were absolutely delicious. Wonderful meal here! Great vibe, great servers. We started with excellent cocktails and then a small parade of excellent tapas. Favorites were the thick, creamy butternut squash soup with a surprising - and delicious - dollop of smoked trout, the goat cheese stuffed piquillo peppers, and the amazing lamb skewers. We could have eaten 4 servings each of the lamb. Only negative: Ambience was ruined by babies at the next table. Why on earth would people bring a toddler to a place like this? Toddler was bad enough and then woman with a yowling newborn came and sat down with the group. If children can't be banned outright Curate could have at least put them in a corner somewhere where they could have been less disruptive. And yes, we wouls have asked to be seated elsewhere had there been another empty table available. read more

Delicious food, great service but a bit pricey. We ordered the: -pan com tomate with manchego -gambas al ajillo -croquetas de setas -patatas bravas. which was enough for 2 people. The croquetas de setas and the shrimp were my favorite. We were hoping they'd have chicken croquetas as an option but the mushroom ones were delicious. The shrimp was well seasoned,, super flavorful and the sherry broth with garlic was fantastic (also great to dip your bread in). We were also celebrating a birthday and they gave us a complimentary chocolate cake with a candle. Service was a 10 out of 10. I didn't give it 5 stars because the pan com tomate came out a bit cold and the restaurant is pricey. But overall, I would definitely come back next time I'm in Asheville. read more

We absolutely LOVE Curate - especially when in a small group and sitting at the chef's counter - what a treat! They used to have the chef's counter for walk-ins but now you have to reserve it, and if it's the summer, just remember to reserve it early on! We like to eat our way through a bunch of their small plates - and they are ALL just amazing and beautiful. We brought a meat-eater with us last time and although he did have some yummy (to him) meat dish, he admitted that our veggie dishes where even MORE delicious! I love their wine selection as well. We've had such great luck with all our servers! But honestly, if you can eat at the chef counter and get to see how the magic is done - it's such a treat! read more

This place is phenomenal, it so good I had to come back a second time (also my second time visiting Asheville). I lived in Barcelona for a while and I always get giddy when there's an opportunity to have authentic Spanish dishes. My bf and I came here when visiting Asheville. We were doing a food tour essentially, just trying a dish or two from different restaurants in the area. We stopped by Curate and we instantly fell in love. Between the beautiful decor and the phenomenal service we received at the bar, I would fly back to Asheville just to come back here. Our bartender was so knowledgeable, so friendly and just really was so pleasant. Unfortunately since we were on our food tour, we weren't very hungry. So all we ordered was the Pimientos De Piquillo Rellenos (stuffed red peppers) and patatas bravas. Both were delicious and we were kicking ourselves for not starting (and ending) our food tour here. We wanted to try so many other delicious sounding tapas on the menu but we were just too full. I loved dining here and will come back as soon as we can. I also want to say what they are doing to help all those affected by the hurricane.... Bravo. Please support them as much as you can!! They are showing up for their community and the least we can do is help them help others (pov as someone who wasn't affected). Do you know how long I've wanted to come here? Like 3 years. Super random how I even came to learn about Curate. I was eating at a restaurant in midtown Manhattan and the bartender was going on about it. I still remember looking it up and being like ok bet let me add it to the places to go. Well... 3 years later. Was so excited. I took my mom, who lived in Spain for a period of time, and notoriously picky eater, and she rated it 5 stars. But since this is my yelp, I'm giving it 4. Maybe I'm just spoiled from being a Washingtonian and can have Jose Andres at any moments notice (I felt like I was cheating on him with the patatas bravas) Don't get me wrong, I thought it was great but... I wasn't like *wow* -- we had to wait a considerable time for our table to be available despite a reservation, and our waitress was giving weird vibes where I got the feeling she didn't want to be there. Started with glass of the house sangria which I thought was average at best (remember I live in S FL & work in the wine business) As it Tapas, Our server suggested we order 2-3 dishes per person. We ordered 6 in total. Started with the unbelievably delicious eggplant followed by a beautiful presentation of the tasty beet salad then the ubiquitous National dish of Spain - the Gravas potatoes. They were delicious. Next up- shrimp in Sherry wine which wound up being our least favorite dish. Finished with an order of the lovely light Scallops & the full flavored spiced Lamb. One of the best Spanish restaurants I've been to outside of Spain. The food was all amazing, the flavors and quality was great. We had the Spanish experience dinner and it really gives you a nice sampling of the menu. The octopus was very tender, the mushrooms were delicious and I don't even really like mushrooms and the lamb was tender and flavorful. Perhaps one of the best parts of the meal was dessert. The cheesecake was incredible as was the chocolate dessert. The staff was great, everyone was involved in making sure we were taken care of.
