I got the torta and I was very happy .they had the bolio that was needed salted and bomb! Great place to come after I get my nails done.

So I know this place is popular amongst locals and known for certain items like their tortas ahogadas and Carne en su jugo. Maybe I should've stuck to a safer choice on the menu, but I passed another restaurant on the way here two nights ago and had a sudden craving for coctel de camarón. So that's what I ordered. Right away I noticed the first shrimp wasn't clean. Then I realized that they don't devein their shrimp. AT ALL. None of them were cleaned. I was hungry though and just tried to ignore it. I wish I would've taken a picture of it because the broth was pale in comparison to what I'm used to seeing at most restaurants. Even my friend who had previously ordered this somewhat recently from this establishment said it looked pale. Another thing to point out, whenever we'd ask for more chips, they would take the plate from the table even though it still had chips on it. Like, why do that? Why not just fill it or bring another plate? It was just strangely annoying. We're asking for more chips, not to take away the ones we're still trying to eat. Lol Anyway, I don't know if I'd want to come back here. The unclean shrimp really didn't set well with me and neither did my mom's caldo de res with her. Oh my gosh, sooo good! An adventure day in Long Beach would not have been complete without trying a local spot for lunch. Based on other reviews, we chose this place and decided to venture out of the Belmont Shores area, and I'm glad we did. Authentic Mexican food, great service and generous portions. The Torta Augada was fire, good spicy sauce and the onions were bomb. The costa azul was solid, the menudo was solid, and the Molcajete was really good. The sauce was great, carne asada flavorful and solid shrimps. This place is a Mexican food gem in the heart of Cambodia Town in Long Beach lol. The vibe and flavors of the place were reminiscent of eating home made Mexican food from Mexico or East LA. Authentic Mexican!! Two words to best describe this delicious place. Came in for a quick bit before doing some shopping. I ordered their Mexican Molcajete and there couldn't have been a better Mexican plate. Although it's promoted for one person for $22 I strongly recommend to share it with a friend. It's also only $3 for another plate or rice, beans, and tortillas ( for 2 people) DEAL!! Plate comes with Carne Asada, Chorizo, chicken, shrimp, beans, and very Spivey Salsa (disclaimer). It also comes with 3 tortillas of your choice, side of fried beans and Red Rice. It was 100% worth every bit and the portion for the price is a deal! I will be returning for the same food. Only unfortunate was that their Horchata isn't homemade, but instead made by a machine. read more

My boyfriend got the Huevos rancheros and I had some and it was so good ! They give you like 6 eggs in this spicy sauce. So good ! I love going for their Caldo de Res, Menudo, and their Huevos con Carne Asada breakfast plate. Their service is fast and the servers are kind. Inflation is crazy everywhere. When the food is good though, it makes it all worth it to feed your family. This place was a straight ripoff! Not only did my husband pay $56 for 2 tostadas especiales (nothing special about them) and a side of rice and beans, it was nasty. The shrimps were not cleaned, and they were chewy. No type of flavor. The serving was so small for the price. $16 for each tostada, $7.50 for each side of rice and beans. These prices on their web menu are not accurate. Not to mention after taxes they still charge a service fee. SMH If you like good Mexican food, don't go here. This place gets zero stars from me. I had to add the one star for the review read more

Took it back. Basically took the red ones out and gave me green. Some red sauce was still there :/ not a problem. I would suggest that anyway. Next, I ordered flour tortillas. I got corn. Not a problem. Just exchanged. My egg was low key oily and burned. Meat was a cheap cut because it was hard to chew. Beans and rice must be from another day. Because they were not fresh. However the service was great. The girls that work there are polite and friendly. I paid $17 and I didn't get what I expected but I did finish what I ordered.
