    Rice bean and cheese burrito

Bring cash! I got a basic rice bean and cheese burrito. It was filling. Pretty good but you can't really mess up a brc burrito. Service was friendly and fast. It's in the hood so be ambiance is not to nice and it shares a lot with a mechanic shop so be mindful .

Old school place. Bring a pot and they will fill it up to take home for the family. One of the best menudo spots in the area.

I am not sure why this place has such great reviews. I ate here one time and that one time was plenty. I got the tamale and it was soooo dry and it was all masa. Perhaps the other things on the menu are better but I can only speak for the tamale. The tamale was also very small in size and there was little to no chicken. There are so many other places to get a decent tamale but here at Chema's Place.

Great tamales, very reasonable, can get crowded but worth it. Also offers menudo and you can bring your own container. Outdoor only.

This place is small but AMAZING . El sazón de la comida es muy buena, los chilaquiles estuvieron riquísimos

Small mom and pop Mexican food place with authentic items. They were kind and quick on the order. (I don't think I waited more than 10 minutes) Overall the quality of the food was good. the burrito was pretty huge and the meat was not gamey. If you want something authentic in this area this is your spot.

We had family in town and needed a last minute reservation on a Sunday for 12 people. The qualifications: AC and delicious food. Panxa Cocina fit all of the above and the entire squad left the restaurant raving about their experience. Our crew shared a bit of everything fried squash, queso, ceviche, enchiladas, and their verde chilaquiles with over easy eggs and chicken. Each of these items were delicious, but I'd return for the ceviche and chilaquiles. The ceviche was a delicious mix of sweet and salty. Their tortilla chips are made fresh in-house and paired perfectly with the fresh cut fish. I was also impressed by their cocktails. With family in town, we visited a number of fan-favorite restaurants across the coastline. Panxa stole the show for best mixed drink: the watermelon margarita. Excited to live so close and make this a consistent haunt.

I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes for a table. The wait was well worth it because each dish offered an explosion of flavors. My favorite dish was the birria, with the salmon ceviche as a close second. The mole was great too, but I'd say the other two dishes were more memorable and something I'd return for. I can't recommend the birria enough, as the flavors were reminiscent of what I've had in Mexico, very authentic. The space is small and can feel a bit tight, but sometimes the best food comes from these types of "hole in the wall" places. Ultimately, I'd say give Lola's a try! You can't go wrong with Mexican food!

The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

Palapa next door offers the same food menu but has more drink options. Many opted for outdoor seating on the terrace due to the gorgeous views, but not wanting to wait we agreed to indoor seating. The interior of the restaurant is also very beautiful. The bathrooms were too dark for my tastes though. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Ola still exceeded expectations and provided a more than pleasant meal.

If you can afford a steak, you eat the steak, if not cut that one steak and make burritos not much meat, make tacos, less meat, make flautas/taqueros, less than that quesadillas with some meat. You get what i mean. But this high end Mexican restaurant made me a liar! This high end Mexican restaurant doesn't make poor food, this place make food for kings! Every dish is savory every order id above and beyond, to even sit in this wonderful place you feel the like this is what the rich must eat in Mexico, no my friend this is elegance the service is as if your a celebrity and they are working had to keep your business. First, we asked for a spicier salsa, and we were told that it could only be served with our meal. What's the point of getting the salsa with the meal when we wanted to enjoy it with our chips beforehand? They also used to offer free horchata refills, but apparently that is no longer the case. Unfortunately, they also got our food order wrong. We specifically ordered beef enchiladas, and my husband repeated the order three times, yet we received shrimp enchiladas instead. Overall, the experience just isn't what it used to be. It feels like they are nickel-and-diming customers for everything, even something as simple as salsa or a horchata refill. I understand they are renovating the front of the building, and perhaps the cost of the renovations is contributing to these changes, but the customers shouldn't feel the impact of that. The staff at the front may look nice and presentable, but unfortunately, the overall service doesn't feel as customer-focused as it once did. At this point, I would recommend looking for another restaurant where the service and hospitality are more consistent and where you don't feel like you're being charged for every little thing.

Unfortunately, the huevos rancheros were pretty underwhelming. They came with two over-easy eggs over a tortilla that was very soggy. I personally prefer the tortilla to have some crispness so you can actually bite into it and get that contrast in texture, but this one was completely soft underneath the eggs and sauce. The ranchero sauce itself was very basic and plain. It wasn't bad, but there wasn't anything particularly flavorful or memorable about it. The beans were fine, but I didn't care for the rice. My partner's beef sandwich was actually decent and probably the better of the two dishes, although it still wasn't anything extraordinary. He also ordered a Paloma, but unfortunately that was disappointing as well. He could really taste what seemed like lower-quality alcohol, and overall the drink tasted mostly like watered-down Squirt rather than a well-balanced Paloma. Overall, nothing was necessarily terrible, but the experience was pretty average. I was hoping for more flavor and better textures from the food, and a better-balanced cocktail. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out enough to make the meal memorable. The staff and waiter were nice and pleasant and restrooms were clean.
