I am SO happy right now. The only thing wrong with this place is it's not located in South Florida! REAL authentic tortilla chips. So many choices of Taco or Burritto shells the corn taco is so good it puts all other corn tacos to shame Like the Smoky Cheddar shells too. I stopped by Cabo Bob's Burritos while visiting Austin because of recommendations from friends. The food did not meet my expectations. You start off picking a tortilla, they come in unique different flavors. Another thing I did like was that the tortilla was pressed right when you made a selection. Then, you choose your meats, toppings, and sauces. The meats were standard although there was some choices I have never seen at other burrito places (fish and brisket). The toppings were basic and they have many different options for sauces. The burrito was extremely bland and stuffed with mostly rice so thats all you can taste. The meat quality was very poor. I could barely taste the ancho ranch that I asked for in my burrito. I got two burritos with the same fillings but they were very disproportionate for the same price. The queso was poor quality and it tasted equivalent to the nacho cheese you get from the gas station. The tortilla chips on the other hand were thick and crispy and probably the best part of the meal. The line was very long and it wrapped around the restaurant to the door. I waited 30 minutes to order my burrito. The inside of the restaurant was not very clean. The tables were dirty along with the bathroom which was too gross for me to use. Even though there was a lot of people waiting in line, there was plenty of seating in the restaurant. The ambiance is very nice and relaxed. Cabo Bob's lacks flavor even when you use their sauces. They stand out to me because they're Chipotle-style - in terms of serving - BUT they press and make fresh flour tortillas in front of you to start your order! The tortilla doughs are made from scratch & there are 4 different flavors: Buttermilk, Ancho Chili, Cilantro Tomatillo, Smoky Cheddar. If you get a full-size burrito - pro-tip: you can mix 2 different doughs! I went for the Bob's Special Deluxe Fish Tacos (Cilantro tomatillo, ancho chili & buttermilk tortillas, crispy fish, Chipotle Crema, Mango Pico, guacamole, cheese, shredded cabbage) -- pretty damn good fish tacos. The fish was crispy and tasty. I didn't think I would like guac and cheese and crema but I was wrong, all the flavors paired really nicely together. Such divine burritos here every time I go here. Probably my favorite part of these burritos are the fact that you can choose between a variety of flavored tortillas. You really can't go wrong with any and it's been a while since I've tried flavors other than smoky cheddar, but my goodness is that tortilla so darn good. There's 3 choices for beans and baja beans are a delectable mix and are hands-down the superior choice. Be careful when grabbing a squeeze bottle of sauce - there's two choices that look similar. 66 Red, and Xxtra Hot. All of their meats are pretty good - no complaints they're what you'd expect. I usually opt for chicken as it seems to work well with the burrito format. Other than that, you get a choice between quite a few toppings including cilantro (oh baby). My only negatives are that the line can get crazy long, traffic getting in and out of this location kinda sucks, and my first trip here after I chose my toppings I was offered guacamole and queso and I was like "uh sure I guess" only to be slapped on with $4 in extra charges which normally would lead me to never come again. This summer like many of you I want to try out new-to me spots and support more Austin businesses in this stage of the pandemic. In late June, I decided to try Cabo Bob's in South Austin for the first time, and it was a great dinner. As a pescatarian, usually at burrito places, I have the vegetarian option because they lack a fish or shrimp option. Enter Cabo Bob's, which has a tasty fried fish option. One of the coolest things is that they have fresh raw tortilla dough prepared, so when you order, they make your taco or burrito tortillas on the spot on a giant grill. The tortillas taste amazing too with multiple flavors. My partner had the fish burrito, which was delicious on a cilantro tomatillo tortilla. I tried the fish tacos, which were also fresh and yummy with mango salsa. My areas to improve would be the queso was cold (but the staff gave us a warm one upon request), and the flavors of the beans and veggies are all a bit bland. One thing that would be great for vegetarian and vegan options is for the sautéed veggies to be more flame grilled instead; this would amp up the veggie flavors too. The outdoor patio was so great to enjoy eating out safely, and the sweet mint iced tea was literally the best tea I have had in years. I would come back here just to enjoy more tea! I had heard about this place through an in-law, he gave it a raving review. It's taken me about 4 to 5 months to finally try the place out. I live in northern Hays County, but don't go into Austin unless necessary, today was one of those necessary times. While standing in line I noticed a lady' holding her toddler child in her arms and the child had both hands covering his ears to deafen the din. So yeah it is loud but not inexcusable for the time of day; poor baby. I scanned the menu boards for something that might interest me, lots of choices, I settled for the #3 taco (fish) selection, my wife decided on the burrito bowl. I recall having my first fish taco in San Diego, CA back in the 1980's and it was a new and delicious experience. I don't recall the name of the restaurant but it was near MCRD San Diego and was a regular for me and my family. I have not had a fish taco since I moved back home in 1995. My fish taco at Cabo's was not bad but not memorable. My wife's bowl was not much unlike what you might get at other bowl burrito servers. My wife said she never had a bowl burrito, I must make amends. I will give Cabo's another shot, someday, but I really don't think it will make a difference. I was very disappointed with the management staff today. I have been a long time customer of this establishment (2 years), and each time I have always had a pleasant experience with the staff. I am a student of St Ed's and typically go on Tuesdays for the free chips and queso they offer to students. Today, I came in for the free chips and queso, and also order a kids steak taco meal. My experience started off normal as usual. I went through the line, and when I got to the cashier, I typically order a extra cup of queso in addition to the free cup of queso as well as the queso that is included in the kids meal. I do this almost every time I have gone over the past two years. I was charged for the extra cup of queso, and expected to have three cups of queso and two bags of chips (the kids meal includes a bag of chips). I started to head to my car and checked my bag for all my items, and was missing the bag of chips that came with the kids meal and the extra cup of queso that I was charged for. I went back inside to get my paid for items and approached the curly haired male employee (who I assumed was the MOD) at the Togo area. I politely explained the situation, and the cashier close by chimed in and wrongly restated my order. I politely corrected her, to which she said "oh so you are just missing the chips". I said yes, but that I was also missing the queso I was charged for. The cashier then started to argue with me that the "kids queso"was the queso she charged me for (two different sizes and two different prices). The male employee, obviously annoyed at this point, turned, grabbed the queso, and somewhat aggressively handed it to me and said "I don't know what's happening".
