We came here after a concert at the Pavilion. Easy 3-stars. Nice, clean place. Nothing about the food stood out. Wife had guacamole and wasn't impressed. Had a watermelon margarita and only took one sip. I tried the drink too and it just wasn't good. Maybe the bartender was having an off-night. My enchiladas were decent, and nothing I'd get again. Friendly waitress, who brought my numerous drink refill requests promptly, and with a smile. Would I go out of my way to go here again? Went here with the family today on our way to fun spot. Wife and I had the Jack's fish and chip, we both loved our meal, season fries and fish breading was awesome. Daughter had the chimichanga which she also loved. Service was very good. We Are looking forward to coming back. read more

I was in Laconia and I was told this was the place to go get a good drink and that it stays open late.... and those were the only two good things about it, I always do like a good margarita, and staying open past 10 is always a plus . You can tell as soon as you sit down at the bar that the bartenders favor the locals .... of course you cant blame them, I'm sure they are a huge asset to the business! ... but ... Laconia is also a tourist town ... and the way I was treated just was not right. Jenny is very rude ... I know her name because a local from Laconia told me (stranger sitting next to me) ..... because he noticed her attitude towards me, said he was very surprised as well ... I only ordered beef tacos ... so I don't have much to say for the food .. I will be going to Laconia now for a few days every month .. and because of Jenny , I will not be going back here... it's a shame .. i would've been a good customer read more

They deleted the Cajun dishes I enjoyed there and strangely remove the andouille sausage from the menu. I was quite disappointed to find this. I don't think I'll be returning until they decide to make the change and bring back the sausage. read more

When my husband and I come to New Hampshire, we usually stay in Lincoln. This time , we were near Weirs beach. It was getting late and we wanted a nice sit down place to eat , have some drinks and watch the game. CJ, our server , was excellent. He had a great personality, made sure that we were well taken care of. Did not miss a beat. The food was really good and so were the drinks. Sunday is happy hour all day so we took advantage of the 4.99 mixed drinks (house liquor). Next time we come back, we will stop there again!! read more

Had dinner at CJ's tonight and the chipotle cheddar burger is still a favorite. If you desire a juicy burger full of flavor with s slight kick of Chipotle, this is your best bet. All the food is great but this burger tops all the burger guys you can name on one hand. Try the Empanadas too, everyone we have introduced to CJ's says they are great. Service is always good. We frequent this place year round and have great experiences each and everytime. read more

Late night staff was rude and stopped serving after one beer at 11, especially the gal at the bar.

We've been here many times and have enjoyed the food and service. Tonight, however, was an exception. Our server ignored us from the time she gave us our menus (she gave us two extra, failing to notice that we already had two in front of us) to the time I had to literally bring my plate to her for a box. We wanted more beverages and some sour cream, and somehow she didn't see me waving my arms like a fool. I brought my glass to the bartender for a refill. We were there for 40 minutes and she never asked us how our food was, if we wanted anything else, etc. She never apologized for her lack of interest. I gave her a tip of $1, which was $1 more than I wanted to. I used to wait tables, and I gave great service to my customers. She should go into a job where she doesn't have to interact with the public. At least the food was good. read more

Usually don't leave reviews, but wanted to let management know that this was not a great experience. Something here has changed. We've enjoyed this restaurant in the past. This time however- -Has the menu has changed? It seemed so. -Service was bad- forgot to bring chips and salsa, then forgot appetizer plates with our appetizers, took way too long to order another drink and then forgot to bring it to us -Tortilla chips were very greasy -Tacquitos were greasy and meat was chicken? or was it pork- it was hard to tell -Baja tacos came without any citrus and very lacking in cabbage, basically two hunks of unappetizing fish on a soft taco -Tortilla bowl for salad was dripping in grease -We didn't take our leftovers, the food was that disappointing...and we ate what we did because we were starving -Very expensive for what we got and the poor quality Maybe if we weren't expecting better, it would have been meh, ok? But when we've had much better from this place, this was a major downer, especially when we were really looking forward to a night out here. Sadly, we won't be back. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. We attempted to go here for my friends bachelorette party because there is literally no other place to go in Laconia. We had given her a few shots before we left her lake house, so when we got there, we told the waiter to under no circumstances give her alcohol. Next thing we know, the waiter comes over and without introducing himself or asking us how we were, tells us that he's not serving the whole table alcohol... we asked to speak to a manager and he said well you admitted coming from a bachelorette party... first of all dude wtf do you think a "bachelorette party" is? We said we WERE a bachelorette party not that we came from a party. We had 2 DD's one of which was quite obviously PREGNANT so obviously she wasn't drinking. We COURTEOUSLY asked to be seated away from people and told you to cut off our friend. The rest of us had all had 2 drinks MAX before we left the house, which btw was 20 minutes from this awful place, and you won't serve us alcohol because we admitted we had a drink before we got there? DID YOU SEE THE PEOPLE AT YOUR BAR PRACTICALLY FALLING OVER???? BECAUSE WE DID!!!! Or maybe you didn't want to serve us because 5/7 of us are GAY???? Obviously we left this awful place, but ate their free tortilla chips so woohoo for that. This place sucks, don't go there if you want to have fun because they don't allow it. read more

We went in for an early dinner and even though it wasn't really busy the service was awful. We waited for almost 5 minutes to get a clean table. We already knew exactly what we wanted and intended to order everything at once. Going out to eat with a young child can be tricky. As long as there is something for him to snack on he's happy. Unfortunately the chips and salsa that are brought as an appetizer never came. After being seated and ordering we waited another 10 minutes for our drinks to come. Our appeitzer and the kid's burger came out promptly. After that it went downhill again. Our entrees took forever and when we got them there were problems. Our waitress didn't come back for quite sometime to check if everything was ok. By the time she did finally come back we were so frustrated that we ordered an ice cream for my son and got our check. The food is good and prices are average for the area. I just don't understand why the service is always so bad. There were at least 2 other waitresses working and it wasn't very busy. read more

I just ordered a burger to go here for the first time and had a bad experience. My sister and I waited more than double the time it say it would take. When I first walked in, not one person greeted me. The service is just bad. They didn't even apologize for the ridiculous wait.The food was good but the side of fries I got were rly small for the price. I would never come back again. This restaurant has been the "go-to" in my family for several years. In our experience the service is fast and friendly, drinks are tasty (they have a yummy house margarita!), and food is delicious! Ask your server for chips and salsa which is complimentary but not automatically brought over. I recommend the Chicken Quesadilla for an appetizer, CBC Wrap for lunch, B&B Salad for a light entree, Burger Taco if you're craving a burger, or the Mix-Mex Grande to sample all their Mexican-style dishes. I've never ordered a dish I didn't like! They have awesome Happy Hour specials which are extended all-day on Sundays and are well worth the visit. If you go during the afternoon lull, I recommend sitting in the lounge in the corner. You'll have views of Paugus Bay and get to enjoy your meal in a quaint little room that offers comfy lounge chairs as well as regular tables. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant, and I mean it was baddddd! Ok, we've been here before and it was so, so. This time was a whole different story. Until today, I wondered why this restaurant wasn't that successful compared to the Manchester location...now I know why. It started off when our waitress forgot our chips and salsa. That's not a big deal but it gets progressively worse. Then when we did get the chips and salsa, there was a chunk of foreign meat in the salsa. Trust me, this is not supposed to be there. The water they gave me tasted as if it had been rung out from a bar towel. How does one mess up water? My kids got mac and cheese. They decided it would be appropriate to provide spoons that were at the very least oversized soup spoons. My 2 year old could barely get one noodle in her little kisser. By the way, they serve mac and cheese with ketchup. Ok, I'm not a condiment conisouer but I'm fairly certain no one asks for ketchup with their mac and cheese to the point where it is served as a standard. So here is the grand daddy of all culinary faux pas: We for some odd reason decided it would be a great idea to continue with this lack luster esperience by getting desert. We ordered the Tollhouse Sunday with cherries on top. When it came out, we noticed we had an additional garnish we were not expecting. At first I thought it might have been a cobweb but no, it was a long human hair drizzled in chocolate sauce. Our server noticed me dig it out before we dug into it and took it away and brought out a new one which we didn't have to pay for. She appologized and quickly brought us our bill. Somehow she forgot the coupon we had given her. Now in all of this, the manager walked past our table no less than 6 times. There was probably 6 or 7 parties in the entire restaurant at the time. She never once came over to see us, appologize, or ask how our meal was. Bottom line is if you like sub-par service and even worse food, Cactus Jack's in Laconia NH is the place for you, otherwise drive the extra distance and go to the Manchester location. So sorry to say the service was terrible and I feel it was because of our waitress. The food was good, the atmosphere fun but our waitress was annoyed with us as soon as we walked in. There was a sign stating "please seat yourself" so we did. This waitress came over and we asked is it ok that we sat there and she said "well when its busy you have to wait but it was not busy at that time and there was no line but she was annoyed anyway. We ordered dip and it arrived with no spoon. We asked for one when she ran by and by the time we got it after reminding her we had already used our forks. After we were almost finished with appetizer the waitress said "are you through?" My friend started to say she was just going to move some chips onto another plate but the waitress removed the dish before we could do that.When food arrived we still had some plates on the table and an appetizer plate we were finished with. They put the entrees on the table and did not remove the plates which we had to put on the window sill to make room for our food.Never asked if we needed anything else and we did need a water refill, napkins and another spoon.,My friends raspberry tea did not arrive until we asked a male waiter for it.Every time we tried to get here attention she flew by and ignored us. She never smiled and had an attitude and kept calling these two mature women girls. We are from New York and can deal with NY attitudes which we kind of find endearing in NY. However in New Hampshire with all the other lovely servers and people we met this waitress spoiled our evening out. Hopefully she quit and is working at a job she likes more. read more

Saw a plug for this place on Phantom Gourmet and decided to try it because it's close to my house. The 2 featured items were the homemade jalapeño poppers and the funnybone cake. Ordered the poppers, veggie nachos, chipotle burger, refried bean tacos, margaritas, and pumpkin pie because they only do the funnybone cake (the main reason we tried this place) in their Manchester location. Poppers were ok - spicy, clearly homemade. Nachos were chips with melted cheese, about 4 slices of pickled jalapeño, and a spoonful of pico - and a hair. They took the nachos off our bill and - to be fair - seemed mortified about the hair. The tacos were ok, but they put the lettuce on before sticking the tacos in the oven to melt the cheese. Warm wilted lettuce - yuck. The margaritas were ok but the lime juice didn't taste fresh. The burger was pretty good but too juicy for the bun to hold up. The best part of the meal was the french fries - hot, crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. The pumpkin pie tasted just like my gramma's - straight from the One-Pie can mix. Phantom, I disagree on this one - not worth driving to. read more

We went to Cactus Jacks not because this is a great restaurant, but because they have a "kids eat free" during school vacation promo. That's a great promo. Had chips & sala free to start and they were actually quite good. We ordered the artichoke dip. It was alright but nothing fancy. The kids had meals from the kids menu. I'd say the best thing on their plate were the chicken fingers. I ordered the Ozzy burrito. This was pretty good but overpriced at about $15, and overall our meals lacked spice. Isn't mexican supposed to be a little hot?! We had margaritas which contrary to other reviews, were very weak. Couldn't even taste the tequila. Service was great. We had a guy named Matt, I think. He was courteous and attentive. We didn't complain about the food or margaritas, after all, our kids were eating free. That said, our tab was about $45 for two meals, two margaritas, one app, and a beer to wash down the overpowering lime juice taste of the lousy 'rita. I did however, appreciate the promo. Next time, might take advantage of the promo, but only get a beer and skip the app. read more
