The food here is more on the expensive side. We got the brisket burrito, The brisket was delicious but we are not a fan of wet burritos. We also got the poke tacos, which I enjoyed but my partner thought it was too much fish. It was messy and difficult to eat as well. The chicken quesadilla was great and flavorful. We tried the key lime pie which had a strong lime flavor, and coconut flakes in the crust. Our favorite was the complimentary flan, it was amazing! The service here was fantastic! They welcomed us and didn't rush us to leave when they were closing. We probably ordered the wrong items so we didn't like our food as much but it was still pretty good regardless. The food was amazing! I didn't know this is one of the chain restaurants, tried it for the first time around 3:00pm on Monday July 13. King county is now in Phase 2 of the reopening plan amid Coronavirus pandemic. There were plenty of people at outside tables that made me think they might be too close?? I guess it's fine with all the air. Since there was no seating outside, we were seated inside of the restaurant which still had air circulation due to wide open windows and doors. They even had a high partition board on top of the seats between. The silverwares were placed in the cup with paper napkins and covered with a plastic wrap for extra precaution. The food! I had shrimp tacos, my family had Carne asada and brisket tacos, also chips and salsa for an appetizer. I love their salsa, so fresh and tomatoey with big flavor, flavor not from salt or spice. No spice and Chile tastes which my Mexican hubby didn't like.. But it's the best salsa I've had in my life. I love spicy Chile salsa but this is something different. They don't give you free chips and salsa but you've got to try this. My shrimp tacos had lots of flavor, the combination of deep fried shrimp, fresh veggies and cream sauce on top of home made corn tortillas. I'd say the portion compared to other Mexican restaurants is not huge. But 2 tacos basically filled me up and left most of the side rice and beans. Around 9pm on a beautiful Saturday, my fiancé and I decided to stop in for dinner. The location and views are gorgeous. The restaurant looked pretty full so we were expecting a wait but instead were seated immediately in a huge booth which was nice. All the staff was attentive and friendly, especially our server, Dulce. We ordered Guacamole Carlito's Way, which was smoky and full of bacon-- delicious. We also had Tortilla Soup (I wish it was warmer but it was still good and flavorful), Red Crab Tamales (great combination of flavors and the crab tasted fresh), and Seafood Enchiladas (favorite dish of the dinner). Drinks were AMAZING! Hibiscus Chi Chi was refreshing and nicely balanced. I love finding zero proof cocktails and the selection of "No Sin" cocktails did not disappoint-- Perfect Prickly Pear was 10/10. read more

Overall rating should have been a 5/5 because of the food. Unfortunately I had to give it a 4/5 because of the restrooms really needed to be cleaned. The server and service was 5/5. The price for the quality of food was 5/5. We were greeted and seated right away. Very friendly staff. The cool part of this dining experience was, it's like sitting outdoors even while inside. They allow dogs on the patio. This restaurant is also along the beach. I highly recommend this restaurant. Drinks were a little pricey for double jack n coke (other half said it was ok nothing over the top). His seafood enchiladas were fire and his ultimate favorite. I had the shrimp Diablo- highly recommend this appetizer. They have a speciality drink cactus which the other person with us ordered- she said it was pretty good. I've been coming to this Cactus location since it landed on Alki. I pretty much order the same thing every time because I absolutely love their butternut squash enchiladas. They do them Santa Fe style -- stacked (as opposed to rolled) crispy round tortillas with sauteed spinach, roasted butternut squash, and carmelized onion in between, and smothered with Monterey and goat cheeses -- and they're accompanied by a side of rice and beans. I often bring leftovers home with me to enjoy later, but sometimes I test the limitations of my stomach and finish the whole thing in one sitting (usually regrettable later). Occasionally I've been tempted by a seasonal special or another of their vegetarian dishes, and I've never been disappointed. Cocktails are all really great, and their tequila and mezcal options are impressive. They offer some refreshing mocktails as well, and they taste especially great on their dog-friendly patio. This location especially gets busy, so plan accordingly. Luckily for you a lovely beach walk awaits while your table is being readied for you and/or afterwards to walk off your meal. read more

Cactus on Alki is excellent . Even though I live down the street it is fantastic. I have been a patron since Cactus opened. When people from out of state come to West Seattle it is our go-to restaurant. It has a wonderful view of Puget Sound and downtown. I do not go there because it is close to where I live, but the quality of food, incredible menu, outstanding drinks and the staff is fantastic. My family and I dropped by here after a sunny day at Alki Beach. I ordered the Pollo Relleno and my brother ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken. We enjoyed the well-seasoned, fried flavor. Next, we sweetened things up with the Bananas Dulce dessert. The hot, brown sugar drizzled on the cold coconut ice cream is a satisfying combination. Cute place right infront of the water! Came in on a Sunday at 3pm and was sat right away. Super cute ambience Their menu is a nice selection of mixed traditional items. We got the guac and salsa, ahi tacos, chicken friend chicken and pablo's special. Was all great. Only comments is get the sauce on the side if you want crispy chicken. Was amazing still but just a note. Our server Miguel was just awesome. Helped with anything we needed and was just a delight. He even gave us a free flan to try since we are visiting from California! Come on a nice sunny day, bring your doggo, and request to sit outside!! When I came this place was packed! 10/10 service, 10/10 food and drinks! I tried one of their house special, cactus fajitas. JUST WOW. So it comes with streak, tortillas, lettuce tomatoes cheese ect ect. So much extras to eat with your steak! I highly recommend trying it! Also their chips and guac is absolutely tasty. They do give our complementary chips and salsa which is a tasty snack. Friendly service, the servers make sure you're being taken care of. Highly highly recommend the place! read more

Really pleasantly surprised by this place! I had been to the location in SLU a couple years back for brunch and didn't care for it much, but it seems like dinner is a winner here, especially at Alki! My friends and I had a great time at the buzzing restaurant. We tried several of the margaritas and cocktails; I loved the pineapple jalapeño smash and the ultima margarita. We had fun splurging for a round of "frozen marg shots" which were refreshing. I had the carne asada and would definitely order it again. The corn it came with was so good, I wished I had more! We got the chopped salad, brisket burrito, and portobello fajitas. Huge portion we took most of it home. The margarita wasn't my favorite but I was never a fan of tequila anyway. I'm certainly not expecting "authentic" Mexican food but I can appreciate the variety on the menu and how they made someone like me (Chinese/Taiwanese immigrant) feel at home. I live in Chicago, which has some AMAZING Mexican food, so I didn't walk into Cactus thinking this was going to be the most authentic experience ever. They had a beautiful outdoor patio, but the indoor was shaded and had large open windows, which was perfect for us! The guacamole was good, the salsa was decent, and the salmon tacos were a-okay. My husband and I downed about two full pitchers of water after our day at the beach, but I do regret not getting a drink since they looked amazing! Service was super sweet, though timing of food was INSANELY long. The manager actually brought out complimentary flan to compensate, which was a kind gesture even though we weren't complaining or dissatisfied with waiting. It's been awhile since I have been back to dine at this location, but it has been on my radar lately. The menu seems to have improved since I started coming here over a decade ago, but of course prices have increased tremendously as well. I still love the Alki Beach location best of all the ones I've tried, minus that parking in this area can be a challenge. The side outdoor patio area is perfect for covid dining. Plus this seems like a destination location since you can pair your meal with a walk on the beach, or a before or after dinner drink elsewhere. The bathroom is located thru a high traffic area which seems a little awkward. On my most recent visit I tried the jackfruit tinga chimichangas for the first time, as I asked the server what I could get the jackfruit in and this was one of her suggestions. I do see they list tacos as well. The server was so helpful in providing me info about food options and assuring my meal came out prepared veganized. I don't always love jackfruit, but this preparation was so tasty. I've been googling recipes, thinking of trying to recreate it myself and have already had my partner promise to take me back to eat it again in the near future. They do seem to have some better than the norm Mexican style vegetarian options. I wish I could try the squash blossoms. I'm also a fan of the salsa here, although you do pay extra, but it quite flavorful and makes the meal even better. I think I'll opt for the guacamole as well on my next visit. read more

Travelers from PA and MD, went here due to a family members recommendation who is from the area and works in Seattle. Small wait time at peak hours and almost a full house on a Wednesday night (around 7pm), seated fast, fantastic service. Server gave great food and drink recommendations. We ordered the Poblano Chili Relleno, Carne Asada, and Mex street corn for food, the Mexican lemonade and a strawberry mojito for drinks. Everything exceeded expectations. The mojito was the best we've ever had, and everything was unforgettable. Our server even treated us with a cuban flan dessert, free of charge, due to it being our first time and traveling from the East coast. Will visit every time we are out here, and walk the small beach area right outside the restaurant. read more

We came to Cactus on a recommendation and we are glad we came. The location is great and we were seated by the window facing the sea. We had jackfruit tinga chimichanga and green sauce chicken enchilada. The waitress was so sweet. Let's just cite to the chase. It's dog slow. This has occurred twice - in two different visits - at this location. They are either understaffed or simply don't know better. They need to be faster. I watched three or four parties experiencing the same lack of urgency. I'm sure it's a tough business, but that isn't my problem. It's yours. Fix it. read more

So many restaurants along Alki Ave rely on the "Location, location, location" theory because of their glorious vistas of the Central Sound and Bainbridge in the distance, but their menus are an afterthought. Cactus is different in that it delivers next level Mexican food that would be a destination if located in Federal Way. Mix in the water views and warming fire pit and the dining experience is first rate. Highly recommend the Chimaya enchiladas with organic blue corn tortillas, chicken, housemade chorizo, spicy green chile sauce, Monterrey Jack cheese, sour cream and pico de gallo. The chicken chunks were succulent and the green Chile sauce was frisky without being too spicy. Better still are the smoked brisket tacos. Two large slow roasted, applewood-smoked brisket tacos with cascabel salsa, Monterrey Jack cheese, red onion escabeche and cilantro. You talk about true Tex-Mex...this is it. Minor deductions....charging $4 for chips and salsa: both of which tasted store bought. Also, the fish tacos didn't live up to their description. Again, a great destination for amazing views, a wonderfully creative bar menu and very tasty food. Parking is street only. Look for spots on 61st off of Alki Ave if you come during prime time like weekend afternoons. read more
