Whoa, a large pile of crispy chicken tenders atop a Belgian waffle. It was too much for me, but I powered through the chicken. It came with two metal containers of syrup. One was very spicy, the other was "normal" maple syrup. I enjoyed this meal, $38.11 with coffee, including tax and 20% tip. Rating: 4. On my second visit, I ordered the Veggie Breakfast. Two eggs, a grilled Portobello mushroom cap, sliced avocado, six grilled cherry tomatoes, sauteed spinach, a piece of sourdough toast, a block of feta, and containers of butter and catsup. With coffee, this cost $39.47, including tax and 20% tip. This breakfast caused me distress ... Whether it was too much oil, the butter, or the feta ... I was ill for 2 hours afterward. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Cafe Fig. Located in the Hotel Figueroa in DTLA, Cafe Fig is also a delightful place to enjoy drinks after a game or show. Also delightful is Amy. She is warm welcoming and engaging. Amy made excellent menu suggestions and paid attention to even the smallest detail. When i return here it will be because of Amy's warmth and hospitality. I asked for an iced vanilla matcha latte to go because we arrived after brunch and decided we wanted to go somewhere else for food. Initially, I was given the wrong order. It looked like an iced vanilla latte. Austin (server) took it away and had it remade. While this drink was very good, I'm not sure it's worth the price. Came here for breakfast Christmas morning. One of only a handful of spots open and taking reservations. It wasn't jam packed, but there were definitely folks in and out during the time we were there. First, I hear the sentiments of a few reviewers regarding tables being close. My love and I speak freely, laugh a lot and have full conversations while dining out, so if anything, there was a point where I hoped we weren't being disturbing to others by simply conversing consistently during our meal, but it seemed fine. With that said, they can definitely create a bit more space between some of the tables. Now the space itself, beautiful. It was Christmas so the decor was festive and a nice touch. A fantastic breakfast spot--even if you're not staying at the hotel! My wife and I wandered in after the Emmy Awards after parties looking for a place that was still open, and Cafe Fig turned out to be a great find! We were staying at the hotel and decided to do room service. This place was where we ordered from and we didn't have the best experience. Arancini(10/10): This one was the best out of all of the dishes we ordered! The batter was crispy and the filling was delicious! The sauce that came with it worked really well with the dish. I would order this again! Crispy Chicken Tenders and Fries(6/10): The fries were perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. The tenders felt like there was too much batter compared to the meat, but at least it was crispy. Steak and Frites(3/10): I was really disappointed in this dish. The meat tasted rotten and I took a couple bites to really be sure of it. I also had my boyfriend confirm it with me. We contacted room service and they explained it could be the butter that's giving the steak an off putting taste. They remade it for us with the butter on the side, but the meat still tasted off to me. The fries were the only good thing in this dish. Service(2/10): The food came quickly and the worker that gave us the items was nice as well. The other workers that helped us weren't as kind. When we contacted them regarding the steak, we were immediately interrupted and told that it just comes like that. We tried our best to kindly explain that it still tasted off and they hesitantly remade us the item. When they came to our room with the remake, we were given a weird look and a little bit of attitude. I'm not sure if they were having a bad day, but I thought they weren't being friendly or kind. The service is quick. Andres checked on us often, and provided exceptional service. The Expresso martini was delicious! The Banana Bread hit! The Golden cacao latte tasted very fresh! Cute little restaurant located at the Hotel Figueroa (right next to the bar area on the 1st floor). I was staying at the hotel so I dropped in for brunch on a Sunday morning. I had a few too many drinks the night prior so their chorizo breakfast burrito absolutely slapped. It was large enough to make into 2 meals and the green salsa was delicious. The service was quick and they had a full coffee bar as well. The only downside is parking (I was staying there so had to pay for the overnight valet parking which was pricey). I decided on the breakfast sandwich (sans bacon) and an Americano. The sandwich itself was pretty good and I really liked the tater tots. The Americano was pretty strong. Most of the drinks come in small glasses which I kind of felt like it's a little rip off. I also notice they don't offer many vegetarian/vegan options. Hotel Fig TERRIBLE "Taro" Latte!! Biggest disappointment and after an almost $20 SINGLE to-go cup of terrible coffee. I ordered the signature "Taro" latte, which is advertised as $10!! Plus being charged to literally have espresso in said "latte"... plus a forced 20% gratuity, because "hotel"..??? It was the most watered down small cup of coffee I've ever tasted. The taro tasted of nothing, the espresso tasted stale, and bitter, which left a lingering burnt film in my mouth. I'm genuinely about to return it. Upon trying to get my money back, the manager even attempted to fight me on it, telling me that "The way THEY do things is to be given another chance to make things right... and put me in a position to uncomfortable and repeatedly explain to her, that this was The worst and most overpriced coffee i'd ever had, and I hope they fix the horrendous quality of their coffee.." She begrudgingly, eventually gave me my money back. For this price, I told the barista it better be "the best tasting Taro latte I've ever had"... and the only thing it ended up being was the most expensive WORST crappy cup of coffee I've had in years. Besides being inside a boutique hotel with fancy bar and lobby style lighting, that's where the "quality" stops. Miss the extortionate prices, and massive disgust of the worst coffee in a 50 mile radius. I wish I could rate it negative stars. read more

Service is outstanding. The cafe is in the gorgeous Figueroa Hotel. It is very inviting with marble tables, banquet seating & regular tables as well. As you walk to the location, you'll pass by a most lovely inviting bar, and an incredibly designed hotel lobby. I ordered the chilaquiles, they came with 2 eggs on top of the chips that had a pretty spicy white sauce, some pickled onions & avocado. This is not my favorite chilaquiles. The only redeeming item was the 2 eggs(for protein) & the small portion of creamy avocado. This is not a good version of chilaquiles and should be reinvented in a more traditional way, For tourists wanting to try a flair of Mexican, California cuisine with a spin. Classic breakfast includes 2 slides of bacon, 2 eggs, harsh brown, grilled cherry tomatoes and 2 slides of sour dough. It's well cooked and nicely presented... but I'm not sure if it's worth $25. The salad is fresh with arugula, thin slide apple, pistachios, feta cheese. Salmon is well cooked but pretty small piece... Definitely not worth $30. Our bill came as $100 plus! We enjoyed playing tourist and willing to get ripped off... but would not recommend this place to locals. There are may local mom and pop yummy breakfast restaurants in LA with half of the price! People, this is just a cafe inside a hotel. It's not worth dining here when there are so many other restaurants in downtown LA. The only reason I chose to dine here is because it had four stars on Yelp and is a ten minute walk from the convention center. No, I didn't have an enjoyable dining experience. The hostess sat my party of two at a tiny table in the middle of the room, next to another tiny table where a couple was already sitting. The tables were a foot apart from each other. I was sitting closer to the other party than my own. There were a couple booths available, but I assumed they were only seating parties of four, until I witnessed they seated a party of two at one of the booths afterwards. So uncomfortable. The other couple didn't utter a single word while they were eating. Then my food was brought to the table BEFORE my drink. I spoke up and asked the waiter where my drink was because I was under the assumption that drinks are customarily delivered before the food. He asked if I wanted him to take the food? Where was he going to take the food until the drinks were delivered? Is this a new trend I am not aware of where drinks are delivered after the meal? I said no, just asked where my drink was. Soon afterwards, he delivered my latte to the table. It was hot, so it was obviously recently made, and not sitting around somewhere. The chilaquiles were fine, but my $10.75 cacao latte was the worst latte I have ever had. Too much cinnamon, but I was not going to bother with returning it and having it remade. Afterwards, I never saw the waiter again. Had to ask someone else for the bill. She was nice, but too late, especially when the bill was around $100. And yes, I still left a tip. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, not even to anyone staying at the hotel. LA Live is across the street. There are many restaurants there and within walking distance. read more

In fact, I would suggest that you do not go here unless you want to listen to the person next you, that you do not know, chewing their food, as that is what happened to me. Meaning, the tables are way too close together !!! In terms of our order, here's one of my main deal breakers at any restaurant, they did not bring our drinks before they presented us with our meal. In fact, we had to ask the server about where our drinks were before he or anyone brought them to our table. That's just not right! How hard is it to present the customer with their drinks before their meal? After that, the server literally never came back to our table. We sat and sat, with empty dishes, waiting for our check to arrive. Still, no server. I had to actually ask the hostess for a bill before it was presented. On this visit I realized I was staying at Hotel Figueroa and was very happy that the cafe was right downstairs. I had a chance to try the Pastrami sandwich when I first arrived and before I left I tried the chicken sandwich. Both were great and they give a good portion of the food. I'm not sure where to begin with this one. We stayed at Hotel Figueroa. This is the restaurant that caters the "room service". Unimpressive for such a nice establishment. Call me old fashioned but when I order room service I expect real plates, not a to go container, but I'm not boujee so let's bypass that. I ordered what was supposed to be Australian ribeye... bwuhahah... not. The fries with the herbs... best part. We ordered breakfast the next morning because it's eggs right... that's easy. Apparently not, they were supposed to be scrambled but it was the equivalent of over easy . And lastly, I had to go pick up my food, they wouldn't deliver room service, and despite paying for it in advance with an automatic gratuity of 20%, by the time the host actually got around to giving me my paid for food it was cold.
