I truly enjoyed my selection of American breakfast which came with two eggs (over medium with the white fully cooked), bacon, hash browned potatoes and white toast with berry jelly. I also had an order of Crepes with mixed berry compote and whipped cream. To top it of I had Café Bach which is espresso with steamed cream, butterscotch and topped with cream and butterscotch. I love going to Cafe Intermezzo as they have a menu to serve many functions. This was my first time at the Avalon location, and it's a bit quaint. Be prepared to have a reservation or expect a wait if you go on a weekend night. We ended up having to eat off the late night menu which was still delicious. I highly recommend the spicy tortellini. I go for the dessert menu and the espresso mixed drinks. These are too die for and they have perfected them. I had the opportunity of visiting Café Intermezzo in The Avalon for the first time last week. I was very impressed. I started with their Eggs Benedict. I love the fact that they serve breakfast all day. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the Hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy. They have lots of incredible desserts and coffees. I enjoyed their lemon cake with a cup of espresso for dessert. Devin, the server behind the counter, was very friendly and personable. He took the time to describe many of his favorite desserts. We stopped by this location after a busy shopping day. It was very nice to be so close to the kitchen but also noticed how basic some of the food was being prepared ... just regular grocery store brand items (such as grocery store bread) was being put on the plates for $$ price. We also got some cake slices which were also pretty basic but incredibly $$. I guess the added up charge of being conveniently located right in the center of Avalon ... but will not be going back to this location. The Dunwoody location has a nicer vibe. read more

From the decadent desserts, to the over the top coffee selections, and the European coffeehouse vibe, this is a must try date night destination. My favorite coffee is the Turkish coffee. I tried the Carrot Torte and it paired perfectly with lots of spice. The coffee packs a punch, so if you don't like strong and bold flavors, there are plenty of other options to try! At this point I've been to every Mezzo in Atlanta and they're all equally delicious with the best staff! I had the Mussels appetizers, which is enough for an actual meal. the only small down side to my meal was, my bread was a bit too toasted! Other than that amazing! I was between 3 & 4 stars but rating as a parent going with a group. We were squeezed in back around two circular tables. I am glad they had a kids menu and crayons. I appreciated two sides to their entree including fruit choices. We tried to keep it down but I could tell between talking across table and a preschooler we were bothering other tables by their glances to us (sorry patrons!) Great coffee menu ! The server was friendly and helpful. I went with the ham and cheese crepe. It wasn't the best crepe I've ever had and a bit on heavy side with cheese and sauce. I wouldn't get that again. I'd give them 3.5 stars if I could. We stopped in for a quick dessert bite after dinner. We made it in right before the rush it seems. This is a much smaller version of the other Cafè Intermezzos. You'd think this would equate to better service but it was ok. The counter/bar is right in front of the grill so either don't stay till long or hope they cook something yummy smelling because you're sure to smell like what we they're cooking if you sit there. They should look Into a better system to carry the smells out. The young woman providing details on the desserts was patient and friendly. This place is absolutely incredible! what a gem they don't have reservations, first come first served. it was an hour wait on a Saturday night which is the busiest, but you can always choose to sit at the bar and save the wait time. Their tomato soup was the best!!! So as tomato basil balsamic vinegar side for the hamburger which we enjoyed a lot, medium-well! and a classic Caesar salad was just as you'd expect it to be. Cafe Intermezzo is a quaint little restaurant that serves anything from breakfast to dinners, but most known I think for their coffees and desserts. I came here with my daughter and a friend for lunch. Well, more coffee for her, and I ate some of my daughter's meal. They do have menus for kids which was nice. The seating is limited, and I felt a bit cramped. It's basically a two-top table, but they pulled a chair for my child to sit in. Since we weren't eating, it was enough, but had we had a meal, it would have been more dicey. She ordered a strawberry nutella crepe, but she didn't like the crepe at all, and just picked at the strawberries. She also got a fruit cup, but it was very small, and not anything special. I tried her crepe, and thought it was just okay. I can't speak on this restaurant, but on the others I've been to it's hit or miss with me on the desserts. Sometimes they are really dry, depending on how long they have been sitting there. All in all, cute place, a little overpriced, and the crepe was just so-so. Service was fine. You can taste the coffee liquor but not really at the same time, also the hazelnut flavor is so good, it just taste like a nice strong coffee! I highly recommend. We got the seafood dip to start, it came out nice and hot. The seasoning was perfect! Nice and a hint of spice. The seafood in there was eh, ok. They had scallops, shrimp, and crab meat. I got the caffe intermezzo to go and found it really unique with the almond and cocoa notes to it. It wasn't bitter at all and my mother also enjoyed it who is much pickier with her coffee drinks. The interior here is sophisticated and makes a great fancier place to meet up with others or dates. I think I may just stop in and try something to eat as well as the Turkish coffee next time I'm in the area. She patiently helped the little girl, at the table next to us, pick out her dinner. Expect a wait. Our wait was about 30 minutes. It is a very long service. Make sure you have time to relax and enjoy. We sat outside and got to enjoy the live band that was playing that night. We went for dessert. It was just too sweet for me. The atmosphere changes from the music, chairs/ tables, chandeliers and ceilings, it makes you feel like you've transported to somewhere in Europe rather than Alpharetta GA. At this location I order the Americano and American breakfast (chicken sausage, scrambled eggs, wheat toast). Although the food didn't blow me away (might be my fault) I would say that what made the experience great was the temperature of the food. Something as simple as that made the difference as both the drink and dish were the perfect temperature to keep me satisfied. Really enjoy the Intermezzo franchise! First time at the Avalon location. You walk in and you are transported to a small quaint European styled cafe. This location is long and narrow and doesn't have a ton of seating options. Unfortunately social distancing is rather tough due to the layout. Menu is obtained by scanning a QR Code on the table. Coffee and Tea menu seem much smaller than the other locations offerings. Despite the smaller selection, the drinks and food are always delicious. We tried the Turkish coffee which had a wonderful presentation and tasted even better. The hummus app was divine and came with warm naan/pita bread. Absolutely addicting. The citrus fig salad was incredibly refreshing and the dressing served as an excellent compliment. The veggie sandwich came on freshly warmed bread and had excellent depth of taste. I had to use self control to take half home to savior as a snack. Great place to sit with good company and enjoy quality coffee/teas and boutique style foods. Didn't get dessert today but the cakes on display looked indulgent. Will be back for more coffee and definitely dessert. read more

The origins of this place started over 300 years ago as an European coffeehouse - love this piece of history! I started with a large bowl of Italian Wedding Soup - hit the spot for me with 6 penny sized meatballs on a rainy day. I needed greenery, so I ordered a side Ceasar Salad that was heavy on the dressing and parmesan. I think most people would've loved all that cheese, but I am slightly lactose intolerant and already drinking an Indian Spiced Chai Latte w/whole milk, so you can imagine what followed afterwards (an upset stomach - haha, I'd do it all over again!).
