For Mothers Day,I wanted to try something different and booked Cafe on St. Armand's- where Cafe Europe use to be. The restaurant is very large offering both indoor and outdoor dining. Inside has 3 rooms; bar area, and two dining rooms. Mediterranean tapas inspired menu- we shared some small plates. The grilled octopus, chicken souvlaki, kefta pita( my favorite) and Moroccan hot honey sliders. Everything was delicious and the drinks complimented the entrees. My Spanish gin and tonic was very different (good) and beautifully prepared. My wife had lemon- lavender tequila and Paloma and both were refreshing. Luis was a terrific server who made some recommendations and knew the menus. A worthwhile find that deserves another visit- especially during happy hours. read more

Such an enjoyable dinner tonight- out on patio... sun setting, people walking St Armand's. Our waiter and waitstaff were friendly, attentive and not pushy. They allowed us to enjoy our meal- take our time with drinks and dessert. The Dubai martini was delicious. Same with the espresso martini- smooth and SO good. One of my favs around. The small dirty martini salad was shared by three of us-kale, green olives- loved it. Mushroom Bisque was outstanding. Creamy, rich (but not overly)- and so tasty. Sicilian Pomodoro was also such a wonderful plate. 4 shrimp topped with whipped ricotta and pasta - loved! Shared the Tarta de Santiago for dessert. Light, sweet- love an almonds cake. read more

This is a 3 1/2* rounded up for a recent weekday dinner takeout during this(25/26) high season. Cafe on St. Armonds replaced Cafe Europa post hurricanes and this review is based on our first takeout. Post sunset on Lido Beach, we ordered ahead that took about 25 minutes for our pickup. These are what we tried. Some hits and some misses. + Chicken Shawarma - more or less sliced grilled chicken on ample arugula... chicken was tender. ++ Roasted root veggies - very good! - Mushroom flat bread - pass; over sauced mess = Tossed greens - boring; oil on arugula = Basque cake - pass; too heavy ++ Key Lime Pie - decent KLP = Price is average for St. Armonds but little value for what we got. + Parking is street (difficult) and public structure in the back. We stopped by Café on St. Armands and only ordered sides and a dessert, but everything we tried was impressive. The roasted vegetables were the highlight of the night--especially the Brussels sprouts, which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The flavors paired beautifully with the pomegranate, goat cheese, and sweet potatoes. You also can't go wrong with the truffle fries--crispy, perfectly fried, and very tasty. The star of the show was the limoncello dessert cake. It was incredibly moist, light, and absolutely delicious. We also had their French 73 cocktail, which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. We spent an afternoon in and around St Armand's and decided to try our luck at this restaurant and it turned out to be a great choice. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. The ambiance was very pleasant and relaxing, I could have spent a couple hours there. Our Negroni cocktail was very good. The espresso I had after dinner was decent. We ordered caponata and pita for an appetizer, the French onion sliders with truffle fries and the kefta entree for lunch. Almond cake and pana cota for dessert. The caponata and pita was plentiful and good, but just a little different than the traditional Sicilian version (different spice and warm), the kesta meatballs were great, the sauces were on point and the rice was unique in a good way, the sliders were very flavorful and the truffle fries were fantastic. The almond cake nice, simple and satisfying, the pana cota was creamy and hit the spot. Overall we will return for sure and looking forward to experimenting with some other items on the menu. It's tapas-style, Mediterranean inspired and both myself, my husband, and both of our friends were extremely pleased with our drinks and dishes. For a "small plate", my Grouper Toastie was definitely the size of a full sandwich. The French onion soup had great flavor, our only critique was the whole onion that it's served in could have been more tender. Our server Cristian was without a doubt a class act. Not only was he personable, attentive, and knowledgeable, but he truly went above and beyond. Cristian brought my friend sparkling water when my friend splashed some pomodoro sauce on himself, and he brought my young daughter ice cream free of charge at the end of the meal. He really did make us feel like family. I highly recommend the restaurant. read more

What a great update to a St. Armand's classic restaurant! Cuisine spanned the Mediterranean with great selections from Greece, Italy, France & Spain. My wife and I shared an Andalusian winter salad, crudo (Italian sashimi), some glorious deviled eggs, and a whole branzino that was to die for. Flavors married beautifully in each dish, to the point that I was scraping up the marinades once the food was gone. Great cocktails and nice wine selection as well. One of the best restaurants on St. Armands Circle. I've been here now four separate times for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and everytime the food and service from the staff has been exceptional and consistent. Would highly recommend if you're in the mood for a perfect ribeye! I've had most of the items on both the breakfast and dinner menu and I can say they are all good. My favorite is the steak and frites and I usually order it with two over medium eggs. read more

The food was mediocre. I ordered filet mignon and requested it to be cooked medium. It came out almost well done, medium well at best but hardly even. I should have ordered medium rare, take that into consideration. The drinks were fine. The rest of my party's food was the same, mediocre. I ordered a sauce for my steak which I never got and the waiter didn't come back to our table enough for me to have asked for it. I was hungry, I ate the steak without it. My French roast coffee was also very good. They open at 10 for breakfast. Most of the restaurants on St Armand's Circle also open at 10. Wish they would open earlier for breakfast but by 1015 we were eating our breakfast. How is that for quick and timely service! We went to Cafe on St. Armbands and the food was good as well as service. But to our surprise we were asked to leave after an 1 hour and 15 minutes. There was another reservation for our table. Never have had this happen in a restaurant in my life. So if your looking for a great place to spend an evening with friends or family this is not the place. For $250 you get an hour and a half at most to enjoy your meals and drinks. So eat and drink quick and keep conversation to a minimum. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Me and my wife saw this restaurant on social media and wanted to try it. Today we went for breakfast. We were seated outside on the stoop. We watched as multiple parties arrived and were seated, waited on, given beverages and received their food. I went to the restroom and mentioned to the hostess that we had not seen a waiter yet and we had been waiting quite some time. I returned to the table and waited about ten more minutes before returning my menus to the manager and explaining the situation to her. She merely apologized and did nothing more. No attempt whatsoever to correct the problem. This was by far the worst restaurant experience of my entire life.i will never return to this restaurant. read more

Nice place, we have gone a few times for coffee and wine. Service is always great, no complaints there. Just know your wine. We have had a few experiences where we order a bottle on the menu, they say they are out then present another bottle of the same variety and present it as a superior wine with the fact it's their last one but offer it at the same price of the one you tried to order. Usually turns out to be a $15 bottle or some other cheap wine they are pushing. A bit gimmicky but sometimes not worth the debate. We usually ask for an alternative once we figured this out. read more

I must admit, my wife and I visited here with great trepidation because we loved its pre hurricane predecessor, Café L'Europe. But, as a supporter of the circle we walked in and asked for a table outside. We were seated on the signature deck which is St. Armond's very best people watching location. The menu is fairly small and designed to be Mediterraneanish tapa style and shared plates style. Though small, we had no problems finding a few choices. We started with drinks and received a perfect French 73 and a very tasty and creative Blood Orange Aperol Spritz. Good start. We then shared a beets salad, shishito peppers and French onion sliders. Each one was perfect. The beets salad was fresh and lightly dressed with plenty of beets. The peppers had been prepared fresh, garnished with a grilled orange, pistachios and on a generous bed of goat cheese. The flavor was ideal and like with any plate of peppers we were both on the lookout for the one stray extra hot one, which never came. There were two Farnsworth onion sliders. These were a taste sensation dressed with gruyere gouda, garlic aioli and arugula. The two of us were pleasantly full from the three plates, but not so full that we passed on dessert. Glad we didn't skip it because this key lime pie was about the best we have ever tasted. We will return on our next visit to Longboat Key. Great service as well. I will miss the old restaurant, but I must admit that this concept is a perfect fit for the Circle and fills a niche that had been open. read more
