This little diner is at the 126 and the 118 interchange you would miss it if you weren't looking for it. We came here as the reviews were good and its close to home. they did not disappoint! there were some folks there but it wasn't packed and we got seated right away is the large dining room you can also sit at the counter in the front dining room or outside. We got our menus and went over what we wanted. I got the Steak and eggs with aside of biscuits and gravy. My eggs were cooked perfect, the toast was hot the steak was OK not bad but it had a bit too much gristle for me the biscuits and gravy were top of the chart good. The biscuit was fresh and huge the gravy was on point and full of yummy goodness you would expect from B&G. The main diner is compact, but not to worry there is another room through the doorway with plenty of seating. We were greeted right away , there were two parties ahead of us, but we were seated within 5 minutes. Our waitress was a sweetheart, and checked on us often. I ordered the Mexican scramble which was two eggs, bell peppers & onions, with a side of O'Brien Potatoes , and opted instead of toast to get the biscuits & gravy. Did I like my meal? Well, let me put it this way... My plate was clean. The biscuit was huge and fluffy, but the gravy lacked seasoning so I didn't end up eating it, which my waistline is thanking me for. This place can get super busy so prepare ahead of time. Came here on a Sunday on an empty stomach, not a good idea. We waited 30 mins to be seated outside which would have been fine but it rained that morning so it was super chilly. Anyway I ordered the chicken sandwich which came on a burger bun, asked for no mayo, and got no condiments at all. The chicken was thin and dry, my fries were cold, like they had been sitting on the counter for a while. My moms potato were cold and undercooked and her omelet was super greasy. Is it bad that my husband and I went here 2 days in a row? Lol well we wanted to bring my father in law to check it out because he loves ham steak and eggs. Well he loooooved it. And the portion is out of this world. Lol he had a great experience. Husband had a French dip, which was really good! Husband said it was great, I say it was good. The meat is dry, but not chewy. And of course when you dip in the au jus, it's better. Mac salad was obviously homemade. Husband loved it. I ordered 2 eggs, "chicken fried bacon" (not on the menu), hashbrowns and a biscuit and gravy. Holy moly. Chicken fried bacon was not greasy. They use good quality bacon and the batter is light and airy. Gravy is soooooo good and clean. Great experience today So the first day we went husband and I shared the chicken fried steak. Seriously it is truly the best we've ever had. We're glad we shared too lol. Both days we had the same waitress. Her name is Jennifer and she is soooo sweet and amazing. We definitely want to be her regulars. The atmosphere is definitely old country diner. Doesn't bother us. Everything is clean and the locals are respectful. My brother in law wrote a review below and his family had a bad experience.. It's a humble little eat em up joint in East Ventura. Back in the day we called this area Saticoy. Lot's of old timers and local type folks here. Went here after yelping when in the area, yesterday. My buddy and I picked up a paddleboard in the area and wanted to get breakfast locally. Decided to give this place a try on a Saturday 45 minutes before closing. It was quiet so no line or wait. We tried the chicken fried steak and the chorizo and egg scramble. I had really wanted to try the chile cheese fries too, and they were accommodating in just doing a half order so we could taste them. I haven't been able to come here for breakfast lately but I have been gorging on their Western BBQ cheeseburger. I live my burgers and this is one of my favorites.
