There were several rooms to choose from inside and they had nice outdoor seating also. We had a stick bun and cinnamon roll. I liked the sticky bun better. They were both good. I had the avocado toast and I felt the over-easy egg was a little overcooked. It was hard to cut through the bread. The flavor was good. It's a very cute establishment, brunchy, and ordering your food and waiting for them to bring it to you is a pretty simple model. My isolated experience here left me only moderately satisfied. I experienced a much longer than usual I'm sure wait time for a drink and that drink was the highlight. I ordered what I believe is their veggie sausage, which looked and tasted more like one of those veggie burger patties. The tofu scramble was alright. I walked here from my friend's apartment so the location was safe and there are a few other shops and eateries around here. I'm glad I tried it, and I could likely see myself coming here for one of their already made cafe selections or to study/read, but not for food food, if that makes sense. read more

Really nice place for brunch! There is plenty of seating outside. My partner and I came here at the recommendation of my brother who lives in the area. We tried the veggie hash and the vegan breakfast burrito, as well as a cinnamon roll. The burrito was the largest one I have seen in my life! All the food was amazing. Usually I do not go for healthy breakfast options but the veggies were really good. The cinnamon roll had an amazing cream cheese glaze. I would definitely recommend Cafe 13! read more

After the remodel and menu revamp, this place is stellar. They really sat down and thought about what they wanted to do with the space and what offerings they wanted on menu. As with any new routine/flow I think they have a few small kinks to work out but that's to be expected with a re-opening or new opening so I won't deduct stars because I think it's only going to get better from here. The atmosphere is so much better, the ordering process and flow is better, and they have two solid vegan options on the menu now: vegan waffles and vegan scramble. I haven't tried the waffle yet but can confirm the scramble is quite good! The coffee is still good and the staff are still cool. It's popular and can get pretty busy during breakfast/lunch rush and on weekends so plan ahead! First come first serve. read more

After reading reviews we were excited to give Cafe 13 a try, unfortunately was a huge let down. We will call this "an experience" but definitely not a dining one. We arrived and there was no one in line and the place was about half full with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. So far so good. Went in and the staff was courteous but not overly eager to help. We placed an order for 4 people and got our coffee cups, this is where the downhill slide begins. First off there was an empty coffee container, understandable, but during brunch hours should be maintained. Move to the medium brew coffee and it's like warm and bitter, obviously old coffee. Want creamer? Too bad it's empty too. Sugar? Well there is 1 packet. We take out seats and await our food......and wait....and wait...... you get the idea. About 30 mins goes by (did I mention the place is half full and there isn't a line) and only 2 meals come out. The server asked if the other 2 people sitting at the table ordered food! After advising the server what they ordered she went back in to check. She didn't come back to let us know anything. The first 2 meals were eaten and shared (about 20 more mins) before the final 2 meals came out. The server said the kitchen was not doing well and she "was just as frustrated". I'm going to guess she wasn't as frustrated considering we had paid and tipped (quite well might I add) at the beginning when you order. For 4 meals, 2 coffees, 2 horrible milk matcha drinks, and an orange juice, the meals total was over $75 with tip. Now you may say, at least the food was good right? No the food was not great. The biscuits and gravy tasted as if the biscuits had been frozen and warned back up and what was supposed to be a couple of over medium eggs on top were in fact under cooked drastically. The "Fully Loaded Avocado Toast" was indeed not fully loaded at all. I won't speak to the other 2 items since I did not taste them personally. Suffice it to say, we all left Cafe 13 highly disappointed and came to the conclusion that we shall name this "an experience". Not a good one, just an experience we have absolutely no intention of repeating. read more

Driving home from Black hawk did a quick search for a local spot for breakfast on our route home. This place popped up with decent reviews so we thought we'd give it a try. Found a place to park up the street and walked to the building, very cool looking building by the way but WOW was this place paced at 10 a.m. walked in and was a little confused on how the whole process worked so for anyone reading this that might try and visit this place, you have to walk up to the counter to order food, we walked in and grabbed a table and when we realized no one was coming to take our order we walked up and ordered our food. Made it to the front of the line with order in hand and then was informed that the wait was going to be 45 Minutes. Um this would have been useful information while I was standing in the back of the line. Figured we were already there so lets see what the food was about. I ordered the tex mex and my wife had the Aussie, also had a spicy bloody mary which I have to say was probably the spiciest bloody mary I've ever had in my life. The little bar tender was very pleasant and even let me sample one of the whiskies I had never heard of before. Finally get our food and it was COLD.. all that wait and we weren't the only ones, I noticed a few others bring their plates back to the counter to have them throw it in the microwave. This could easily be a four or five star place but the wait time and the cold food dropped it down a few notches. The staff and the alcohol made this visit tolerable. read more

Talk about the perfect brunch spot! The wait times are minimal, with the line extending during peak hours. Even then, the food is so quick, and coffee even quicker! Visiting from out of town and we stopped here for food! Waited in line, ordered food. Waited a long time. Got up to ask how much longer and they had said over 50 min wait on food. Cafe 13 is located in the old Colorado National Guard Armory in Golden. Built in 1913, the Armory was listed in Ripley's Believe It Or Not as the largest cobblestone building in the United States. The building is made of cobblestone. It's a gorgeous building. I had the classic bacon, eggs, toast and hash brown breakfast. The bacon was mapley crispy good. Disappointed that only one piece of toast was served with the breakfast, I still had the hunger. The obvious next breakfast step in the morning continuum was to sample the green chili. It was thick, hearty and filled with pork. The flour tortilla that accompanied it was lightly sautéed all buttery slightly crisp perfection. No biscuits and gravy on the menu and a tad weak Americano, but overall a good meal and experience. The staff was way wicked friendly and smiley and talkative and nice. I met a friend at Cafe 13 and had a new experience that replaced a not great one last year. The staff was timely, friendly and on it with a busy morning. I asked to speak to the manager so I could tell them how great the experience was and she came over and had been helping the entire time and speaking with all the guests already that day. She said she was the new general manager and was promoted 6 months ago. I told her I could absolutely feel her energy and the work she had put in!
