Always stop here on my way to San Francisco...this last visit was a few weeks ago, and so far, this was the best sandwich I have had from there. I am now a vegetarian, so no longer have my bacon and egg, instead I have fried egg, tomato and mushrooms...on toasted sourdough bread, whilst previous visits there has been nothing wrong with my sandwich, it was just ok...the sandwich was on the small side, the bread was nothing special, this last visit, the whole sandwich was just better...better bread, thicker, larger size..the server was so nice, she was working out a way that my sandwich would be a little cheaper...I used to have a cafe and sandwich shop in England so I am quite picky about my sandwiches...I hope it wasn't a one off, because I really enjoyed this last offering and hope the best one is as good. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. This place is great! It's a cafe in the middle of no-where, what were they expecting. I got the breakfast meal (basically a grand slam) delicious buttery pancakes perfectly cooked bacon and good eggs and hash browns. Plus they give you the whole bottle of syrup. My friend got the burger and said he enjoyed it. Your standard burger. This isn't a fancy steakhouse, but for a stop on the way to Joshua Tree it really hit the spot. read more

I read about this place and had read the reviews, so the wife and I and our 2 young grandsons headed over from Apple Valley. We decided to try the full rack of beef ribs. OMG, the meat was fall off the bone tender and delicious. Oh and it came with sides of beans and BBQ corn on the cob! Next time we come I need to study the menu cause it huge! Looking for a bite because we were hungry after a morning packing up gear in the desert. Stopped at Cafe 247 because it was there and easy to park and leave with a trailer attached. Ordered a couple burgers and chicken strips. The chicken strips were only because the pizza was going to take about 20 minutes because it was made to order. The burgers were pretty good and the chicken strips were good b our son's standards. Portions on the fries and fried zucchini could have been bigger. Gross, all freezer food...corner cutting for fresh food dinning prices. The ribs "fall off the bone" because they boil them to death then throw them on the BBQ grill and slap some sauce on them. Only positive here is, if served fresh, French fires and onion rings are good. Shakes are good. Dropped in on our way to Wolf Mountain with my family. I think it might've been the girl taking orders first day, so I'll cut her some slack. OMG is all i can say just had there pork bbq ribs with beans and corn on the cob and it was great by far the best bbq i have had. Fall off the bone so tender and the bbq sauce is finger licking good. I went there on Friday and tried the grilled ham and cheese with the homemade chips was excellent came back early morning Saturday saw they had a car show there was f*cking amazing some of the most unique rides showed . had a Ortega roast beef. I'm already missing that one. Alyn and his wife Kathy are beyond awesome and showed me and my off-roading buddy Jeremiah more love than we've ever seen at any establishment. Also had the breakfast burrito which had a twist with some gravy in it rather than salsa. Highly recommended. Staff was top notch the restrooms were well stocked and flawless. It's an awesome decor of older license plates and you're greeted with good old rock and roll. Don't be scared if you see a few bikes as they will prolly tell you to join their table. Good friends great times. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Will be back for the bbq as you can't miss it as you pass by. Stopped in on our trip back to Vegas from PS. Perfect cross roads diner. Wait staff was friendly, took our order promptly and service was very quick. Simple order of cheesburges and Shakes. Food was great. Real Ice cream shake, no soft serve mixture. They used real strawberries in the shakes. Hamburgers were great. This is a great place to take a break from the road. We went on Saturday after our race and had the best experience. We ordered a hamburger with avocado and they forgot the avocado. The owner takes it away and bring us a new one. He then sat with us and told us awesome stories, had us try his favorite salad on the menu and their home made beans. Seriously go here, the heart is in this place. GOOD PEOPLE! Good food! I live just outside of town. I pass Café 247 several times a week on my way to the Post Office and I've been doing this for over ten years. I patronized Café 247 frequently when it was operated by a prior owner. What was once quaint has become tacky, in my opinion. I find interacting with the customers to be more of a challenge than the dining experience is worth. I wish this place were more inviting because there are so few quality businesses in town. I would like to see a more tolerant and solicitous attitude coming from management. However, I would not presume to insist on it. Yet, the lack of such accounts for one reason I don't visit anymore. I would like to make one last point that I feel obliged to bring up in response to the post about a customer's Confederate flag. Although it certainly is not the owners' responsibility to police the public signaling of his customers, they should be responsible for the occasional profanity they allow to be displayed on their portable signboard. read more

The hash browns looked like they were from the frozen section of a supermarket and the omelette very average. Came on a paper plate with plasticware. We went to Cafe 247 on the way to Big Bear, I had heard about the place on the radio and wanted to try it. Cool decor with a comfortable feel. I ordered a California burrito for $7.75, which I thought was pretty highly priced, but assumed it would be a pretty good size burrito; my assumption was so wrong, I'm not exaggerating when I say that I got a burrito that was about 6 inches long with a diameter similar to an "Alberto's" burrito. I couldn't believe it, I wondered if they ran out of full size tortillas. Not only was it really small for the price, my burrito was the last order to arrive at our table and they forgot my fries. So of course, by the time my fries made it to the table, they were piping hot and the rest of the family had almost finished their meals. Pretty big disappointment. read more
