Founded by Ginger and James Dimapasok, Cafe 86 began with a simple mission: to share the vibrant flavors of the Philippines with the world. Drawing inspiration from ube, the signature purple yam featured in many traditional Filipino desserts, the couple transformed a cultural favorite into a modern culinary experience. Through creative desserts and innovative recipes, Cafe 86 has helped introduce Filipino flavors to a broader audience while staying true to its roots and heritage. My wife had heard many good things about this place. She's Filipina so we had to check it out for research purposes lol. And of course, we had to order their Filipino's iconic dessert, Halo-Halo. (Ask for the upside down version!) Their rendition is very similar to the traditional one, since it has ube ice cream, jellies, jackfruit and flan. Their spin on halo-halo is that they serve it as milkshake beverage with toppings instead of having shaved ice drenched in condensed/evaporated milk. It also missing a few of the essentials ingredients ( beans, sweet plantains, and coconut sport). But overall, not bad at all. Very refreshing on a hot day! It's good on its own way, but just make sure you mix-mix it up to enjoy the full flavors of the dessert.

This place is pretty cool! It's on the smaller side, but it has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in.It was my first time trying ube, so I wanted to play it safe and order something more subtle. I got the Monster Thai Tea, which I'd rate about a 6/10. The ube flavor wasn't very strong, and the milk and Oreo flavors overpowered the drink. Unfortunately, the boba didn't taste very fresh either. I also tried the ube truffle coated with oreo pieces, and that was actually really pretty good! I'd give it an 7.5/10. My daughter thought differently though she absolutely loved it and gave it a 9/10. Fun fact if you check in on the yelp, they give you a free hibiscus tea pretty big size for it to be free but honestly, I have no flavor. I still enjoyed it since I like plain tea but no flavor. The real star of the visit was the ube cheesecake. Let me tell you, that cheesecake was SO delicious! It was creamy, flavorful, and honestly one of the best things I tried there. It was around $6, and while it was pretty small for the price, the taste definitely made up for it. I'd come back just for the cheesecake alone.The employees were also incredibly sweet and helpful. Since I had never tried ube before, they took the time to explain what it was and gave me recommendations. I appreciated that they helped me choose pastries and made me feel comfortable trying something new. I enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back to try more items from their menu. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and while not everything was a hit for me, there were some standout items that made the experience worth it.

This was my second time being here and it didn't disappoint. It was pretty busy on a weekday evening. Perfect for a dessert after dinner or hang out. The café vibe is very casual and good for catching up with family/friends. The Ube desserts were very yummy. We tried the Ube butter bar, Ube truffle, and Ube cracked cheesecake. Last time I had Ube poptart. The Ube flavor is Rich. The desserts are not too sweet. Definitely good sweetness for Asian parents. Also, the purple color and aesthetic is very nice. Would come again when I'm in the area.

I had this place bookmarked for so long, not sure why I never made it in until today! After dinner, my friend and I were looking for dessert options nearby and he mentioned Cafe 86 had a delicious "cupcake thing". Then I remembered I've been wanting to try this place, so we decided to grab our post meal sweets here. We ordered 2 flan cupcakes, 1 crack cheesecake and 1 regular upside down halo halo. Everything was so good. I devoured the halo halo and the cupcake. I will need to eat the cheesecake tomorrow, but based on how good the other two were, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the cheesecake just as much. Now that I know what I've been missing out on, I'll be coming in as much as I can here on out lol.

My favorite place to visit whenever I am closed the City of Cerritos. Cafe 86 sell the most delicious Ube drinks, snacks pasties. One of my favorite is the their Ube Upside Down, Halo Halo. Service is superb and friendly. Sitting area was perfectly setup for short stop snacking... very casual inviting setting. Perfect for everyone to sit, relax and enjoy ube halo halo

I've visited this place before, and I'm always impressed by their consistency! My go-to order is the ube muffin topped with flan, paired with a large original Halo Halo on the side. We arrived around 12:50 PM, and luckily, they had just opened at 12:30 PM. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by an employee, and it was nice to have the place to ourselves for a couple of minutes until more customers arrived. Their menu is packed with a delightful variety of drinks, desserts, and sweet treats to choose from! I'll definitely be back soon to try their crinkle cookies and explore even more of their offerings. Definitely check them out! Keep in mind there's only about 2 tables and 2 couches (:

The food here is definitely worth the 5 stars but I had to deduct one for the service. Came in on a Tuesday around 6pm and ordered 2 upside down halo-halo and although the place was not packed, we were not greeted or even acknowledged because the employees were too busy giggling with each other. We were standing in front of the cashier for a good few minutes before they asked us if we were ready to order.

I visited Cafe 86 after being told that another Cafe 86 had some of the best and most authentic halo halo out here. The store itself is small and well-designed like a cool place to grab some drinks and desserts with a group of friends. The person working there was nice and made our halo halo quickly and well. Unfortunately, the halo halo was not very authentic and was very brown sugar heavy. I thought it was just ok.

First time visiting Cafe 86 with family for dessert! It's a tiny Cafe serving Filipino flavored desserts, coffee, teas, smoothies, and sandwiches. On a Sunday afternoon post lunch, there were just a few customers present. Our party of 5 was fortunate to get seats together. The turon pop tart caught my attention but I decided on something familiar which was a scoop of ube ice cream. Smooth, creamy and delicious! Fam members that got the same thing agreed. My cousin did get the turon pop tart but thought it's just okay. The gal at the counter that took our order was pleasant. There are brick walls and some Star Wars decor. The disability parking spaces were not close by in the plaza and already occupied. We managed okay parking in a regular spot that was next to a delivery/pickup spot that was clear. As far as regular parking spots, there were many on a Sunday afternoon. The plaza has a Market, a bakery, a restaurant, and shops nearby. I found out there is actually another Cafe 86 closer to me. This is a Cafe that I would introduce out of town family members to. 4 stars!

Had my very first ube dessert. It was the most interesting taste that I ever had and I'm addicted. I love their ube drink . They are all very delicious and I keep coming back for more. Also their flan cupcake is good and their ube cheesecake. I wish they were warm bc they were really cold. Nice spot with very good parking area. Also the interior is really well thought out and clean. I am so glad I picked the right spot to try ube. Next up is halo halo. read more

Every time I'm in SoCal, this place is a must have! I wish NorCal had a cafe that serves ube cupcakes w/ flan & ube truffles. These are the only two desserts I've had and they're absolutely delicious. Not too sweet or dry. read more

I rarely write reviews here on Yelp, but my does this place deserve one! I went here today with my boyfriend and received the best customer service I've ever had. The ladies (which unfortunately did not get their names) who work here were so helpful and polite. We ended up ordering the Ube Poptart and Ube/Flan Cupcake and fell in love! We also ordered a Thai Tea and Coffee Milk Tea, unfortunately I didn't end up liking the taste of the Coffee drink and asked if I could perhaps replace it with something else, and the lady with the glasses who works here happily gave me a replacement drink free of charge. I thought it was very kind of her to do that, lets face it not many places would. Since my visit, I can definitely say that I am one pleased customer and will be coming back soon! Also seemed to be a great place to study, saw a few college students studying here. Mind you is was a weekday so it wasn't too packed. Aesthetically pleasing, great service, good food & drinks, what more can you ask for? read more

I first tried the amazing Ube flan cupcake at their location in Las Vegas. We happened to chance upon this place when waiting to be seated at a restaurant across the parking lot. I tried a blueberry matcha drink and I wasn't a big fan. But I fell in love with the Ube flan cupcake. It was so good. It was too early in the morning for me try any other drinks but I for sure wanted to try their Ube monster drink. We went back to Cali and then found out about this location where I finally got to try the Ube Monster. Wow it was so tasty and delicious. It's my favorite. I've also tried their Ube cheesecake and I'm not a big fan of cheesecake but this was very good. I almost forgot about the Ube truffle. Wow that thing was so decadent and just plain delicious. Highly recommend that too. It's a nice cafe and the prices are affordable. If we lived a little closer, I would definitely visit more often. read more

Came here a couple of months ago with my big brother and we came towards closing. the employees were very accommodating and not at all rude. On top of A+service, I loved the ube monster shake and the cupcakes with flan. if you ever see Archie he is the best! read more

I'm always a fan of Cafe 86! Love their dessert selection as well as their iced teas. I'm a creature of habit, so I always get their hibiscus calamansi iced tea. Their ube bars and turon cheesecakes are always a hit. I also love the ambiance -- can sit and do work for a few hours with reliable wifi. read more

Best desserts here are ube flan cupcakes, ube cheesecakes, and kouki crumble cheesecake (i think that's what it's called). Hibiscus tea is refreshing! It has the perfect hint of calamansi. What i didn't like here was the ube ice cream sandwich and slutty brownie. They tasted average and cookie of the sandwich was too hard. I also didn't like the ube milk tea cause it just tasted like taro. I will still give this place a chance to see what drinks are good. read more

Went here with my friends for the first time today. I ordered the kouki monster and waited more than 20 minutes to recieve my drink. After complaining 3 times to the guy at the counter and after all the customers that came in after me had received their orders I complained another time to the guy. He says sorry about the wait your drink should be out soon everytime I complained about the wait. Finally after everyone left my friends and I were the only ones in the cafe and he finally tells that they lost our ticket. To make up for it he gave me a ube flan cupcake as a way to say sorry. Hopefully my next visit here will be better. read more

I strongly recommend the cupcake they have in the front! Super good! I had the mango slush, and tbh I couldn't taste the mango at all really, and it tasted bland. But that's just my taste. The people in the front where very friendly and helped us out a lot since it was our first time there. read more

I love their ube...everything ube, but I also love their matcha frappe, without the Oreos and flan. I like it just simple Matcha. Anyway, I wish they would have halo-halo all the time, so I won't have to go to Gerry's or Chow King. read more

First time visit to this establishment after searching yelp for vegan cupcakes. I purchased the last 2 Ube cupcakes with leche flan, an Ube crack cheesecake and an Ube pop tart as a birthday treat for my Sister. She shared! And we all enjoyed a tasty treat. We will defiantly be back!!! read more

Receiving 3 stars from me because you can't call yourself a cafe and RUN OUT of goodies that you guys raise hype about. You guys have to come up with a better system. I think it's ridiculous that you guys only sell ube flan cupcakes wed, sat, sun. If you know that's a hit, make more! If I'm coming back I'd only come back for the ube truffle. But then again, that's if they even have anymore when I return. read more

I sampled pretty much all the dessert available on Tuesday. Their menu changes every two days I believe. I originally went for the Ube Truffle but it's only available Sat/Sun. EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS. Taste like high quality ingredients. read more

Great place for ube lovers! Ube monster was soo good and the flan cupcake was so far my favorite bake goods out of the ones i have tried. Parking is s lot, bit it is a bit tight here. There is always a long line out the door. The place is a bit small and cramped, but the service is very fast and friendly. read more

We went there to try out the tres leches ube cake and there wasn't any, but the ube truffle was amazing!!! The tiger tea is yummy and the flan ube cupcake is good. I can't wait to go back when they have the tres leches cake and try another delicious ube truffle! read more

This is probably the ube capital of southern CA. Never seen a menu with so much ube! I had an ube milk tea but I had almond milk instead, I have a dairy allergy. It was good but a little too sweet for my liking. My friend bought some baked goods and she loved it. If you want something sweet this is the place. read more

Hands down the best ube milk tea everrrrr! I've been to this place 2x and both times there were a lot of people! I got the ube milk tea, tiger tea, slutty brownie, and a hibiscus cooler! Don't forget to check in because if you do and buy a baked good then you get a free hibiscus cooler! The hibiscus cooler is a little sour because of the calamansi but it's really refreshing! Now the tiger tea.... it's thai tea and milk tea together. Honestly, i wouldn't get this drink again. i personally did not like and it just tasted like watered down thai tea :/ the slutty brownie was pretty good!! i wanted to try the leche flan ube cupcake but they didn't have any today ): the service is a little slow, i feel that they're understaffed? it takes a bit to get your drinks, but they are really friendly! you can also get points if you give them your number! read more

Been to this place several times to try some of there ube dessert and every single time they are sold out. The few times I went it was still early. Does this place only make so little quantity that they run out all the time??? After my 5th time trying I've given up on this place. read more

My boyfriend, our little girl and I came here one day because I was having a ube craving!! (Pregnant at the time) I got the ube monster with boba and pudding I think it's called, my boyfriend got ube monster ice cream sandwich cookie and we got the mochi Churros too Omg yes sweet tooth much?!?? Yes lol so long story short if you need your sweet tooth fix, come here!! I just wish they had the ube cheesecake when we went! Maybe next time I'll get lucky lol read more

So, I went to check what the hype was about. When you go here, don't expect your Lola's (grandma's), mom's, or auntie's dessert recipe. This place is Filipino and Asian fusion and catered for younger crowd. So, it is for hipsters! I mean you can come too LOL! I give them one star for being playful and creative for mixing the traditional dessert and making something unique! Unfortunately, they only had the ube leche flan cupcake when we went. I was looking forward to try the ube monster truffle (it looks like an ube crinkle). I like the leche flan on top of the cupcake, not too sweet which is a plus (another star). I mean we Filipinos love our desserts but we don't want sugar overload if you know what I mean. I got the Mahalo iced tea (Hibuscus and mango), it was okay. Perhaps, I should've have gotten the one with calamansi since I like sour citrusy flavor. I believe, they give that out for free, if you checked in on yelp. My sister got the ube monster milkshake, she said it was good. While we were eating, the owner gave us two ube butter toasts, which were really good! I would come back for that! I think he gave us some comp dessert because after we ordered, customers started coming in!! So, plus two stars for the nice generous owner and great customer service. Oh, btw supposedly their dessert menu changes everyday so you have to come everyday to try as the sell out every morning. read more

Don't complain about the drinks, I ordered a milkshake however it came out icy so I asked if they'd blend my drink more & when my shake came out I only received half of the cup. I don't know if I'm only suppose to receive half of a full drink back, but as far as I'm concerned that's not right. read more

My GF and I came here after Neptune's and it's a pretty standard boba place. I ordered the coffee milk tea and my GF got the Ube latte. The coffee milk tea tasted good and it wasn't too strong in flavor just right. The Ube latte tasted similar to taro, maybe it is? The drink was purple like taro. Overall good place and chill place to chill, would come again out of ten. read more

Get UBE crazy at Cafe 86! I met up with a friend and we share a love of Boba so we were excited to try out a new place! It's located in a small shopping center and parking here sucks. The spots are TINY so I was an a$$ and took up two spots; I'm tired of getting my car dinged! Anyways- the interior of the cafe is cute! Comfy sofas to chillax on and a few small tables. The menu here is totally catered to Ube- drinks and desserts included! My friend and I both opted for the ube milk tea and we were in heaven. This place has great OVERALL quality. From the drinks down to the clean restrooms. Every dollar that I spend here has been worth the cost. I highly recommend the Cookie butter milk shake (a secret menu item). It has a unique taste and I cant find something like that anywhere else. I paired my shake with an ube truffle and smookies. The smookies tasted just like smores and the truffles are consistently good. The employees are welcoming and willing to serve you. You will not be disappointed with Cafe 86. So many other boba shops have tried to imitate the way they craft their drinks and pastries. I love Filipino desserts and pastries. The modern Cafe 86 had a beautiful decor. I wish they stocked more pastries because when I come in the afternoon most of it is sold out. It's a good idea to follow them on IG so you know what is sold for the day. Ill return to Cafe 86 :) read more

We tried the upside down aalo halo for the first time; their best seller. I've been missing out the whole time I've known about this spot! Lastly, all their pastries are awesome. Mostly ube themed but still high quality and creative. I definitely love this place. read more

This place is just amazing the most interesting and taste treats. Better than your average donut shop cafe 86 uses innovated ideas into delicious reality. It is always a little busy here but they move through the line rather quickly. read more

My sister and I always come here for tea and snacks. I love their drinks and usually order their salted mountain green tea. Great place to chill with friends and family, affordable drinks and bakery. Always freshly made. read more

Great average normal (nothing bad) cafe place. Can't go wrong with any order. Amongst my friends and myself, we got the Ube Monster, Peach Mango Iced Tea, and Thai Milk Tea Boba. All good. read more

I come here with my friends to grab a drink and some bakery. The tea is really good and the bakery is usually pretty tasty. They are always busy, be prepare for long lines. read more
