Founded by Ginger and James Dimapasok, Cafe 86 began with a simple mission: to share the vibrant flavors of the Philippines with the world. Drawing inspiration from ube, the signature purple yam featured in many traditional Filipino desserts, the couple transformed a cultural favorite into a modern culinary experience. Through creative desserts and innovative recipes, Cafe 86 has helped introduce Filipino flavors to a broader audience while staying true to its roots and heritage. My wife had heard many good things about this place. She's Filipina so we had to check it out for research purposes lol. And of course, we had to order their Filipino's iconic dessert, Halo-Halo. (Ask for the upside down version!) Their rendition is very similar to the traditional one, since it has ube ice cream, jellies, jackfruit and flan. Their spin on halo-halo is that they serve it as milkshake beverage with toppings instead of having shaved ice drenched in condensed/evaporated milk. It also missing a few of the essentials ingredients ( beans, sweet plantains, and coconut sport). But overall, not bad at all. Very refreshing on a hot day! It's good on its own way, but just make sure you mix-mix it up to enjoy the full flavors of the dessert.

This place is pretty cool! It's on the smaller side, but it has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in.It was my first time trying ube, so I wanted to play it safe and order something more subtle. I got the Monster Thai Tea, which I'd rate about a 6/10. The ube flavor wasn't very strong, and the milk and Oreo flavors overpowered the drink. Unfortunately, the boba didn't taste very fresh either. I also tried the ube truffle coated with oreo pieces, and that was actually really pretty good! I'd give it an 7.5/10. My daughter thought differently though she absolutely loved it and gave it a 9/10. Fun fact if you check in on the yelp, they give you a free hibiscus tea pretty big size for it to be free but honestly, I have no flavor. I still enjoyed it since I like plain tea but no flavor. The real star of the visit was the ube cheesecake. Let me tell you, that cheesecake was SO delicious! It was creamy, flavorful, and honestly one of the best things I tried there. It was around $6, and while it was pretty small for the price, the taste definitely made up for it. I'd come back just for the cheesecake alone.The employees were also incredibly sweet and helpful. Since I had never tried ube before, they took the time to explain what it was and gave me recommendations. I appreciated that they helped me choose pastries and made me feel comfortable trying something new. I enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back to try more items from their menu. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and while not everything was a hit for me, there were some standout items that made the experience worth it.

This was my second time being here and it didn't disappoint. It was pretty busy on a weekday evening. Perfect for a dessert after dinner or hang out. The café vibe is very casual and good for catching up with family/friends. The Ube desserts were very yummy. We tried the Ube butter bar, Ube truffle, and Ube cracked cheesecake. Last time I had Ube poptart. The Ube flavor is Rich. The desserts are not too sweet. Definitely good sweetness for Asian parents. Also, the purple color and aesthetic is very nice. Would come again when I'm in the area.

I had this place bookmarked for so long, not sure why I never made it in until today! After dinner, my friend and I were looking for dessert options nearby and he mentioned Cafe 86 had a delicious "cupcake thing". Then I remembered I've been wanting to try this place, so we decided to grab our post meal sweets here. We ordered 2 flan cupcakes, 1 crack cheesecake and 1 regular upside down halo halo. Everything was so good. I devoured the halo halo and the cupcake. I will need to eat the cheesecake tomorrow, but based on how good the other two were, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the cheesecake just as much. Now that I know what I've been missing out on, I'll be coming in as much as I can here on out lol.

My favorite place to visit whenever I am closed the City of Cerritos. Cafe 86 sell the most delicious Ube drinks, snacks pasties. One of my favorite is the their Ube Upside Down, Halo Halo. Service is superb and friendly. Sitting area was perfectly setup for short stop snacking... very casual inviting setting. Perfect for everyone to sit, relax and enjoy ube halo halo

I've visited this place before, and I'm always impressed by their consistency! My go-to order is the ube muffin topped with flan, paired with a large original Halo Halo on the side. We arrived around 12:50 PM, and luckily, they had just opened at 12:30 PM. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by an employee, and it was nice to have the place to ourselves for a couple of minutes until more customers arrived. Their menu is packed with a delightful variety of drinks, desserts, and sweet treats to choose from! I'll definitely be back soon to try their crinkle cookies and explore even more of their offerings. Definitely check them out! Keep in mind there's only about 2 tables and 2 couches (:

The food here is definitely worth the 5 stars but I had to deduct one for the service. Came in on a Tuesday around 6pm and ordered 2 upside down halo-halo and although the place was not packed, we were not greeted or even acknowledged because the employees were too busy giggling with each other. We were standing in front of the cashier for a good few minutes before they asked us if we were ready to order.

I visited Cafe 86 after being told that another Cafe 86 had some of the best and most authentic halo halo out here. The store itself is small and well-designed like a cool place to grab some drinks and desserts with a group of friends. The person working there was nice and made our halo halo quickly and well. Unfortunately, the halo halo was not very authentic and was very brown sugar heavy. I thought it was just ok.

First time visiting Cafe 86 with family for dessert! It's a tiny Cafe serving Filipino flavored desserts, coffee, teas, smoothies, and sandwiches. On a Sunday afternoon post lunch, there were just a few customers present. Our party of 5 was fortunate to get seats together. The turon pop tart caught my attention but I decided on something familiar which was a scoop of ube ice cream. Smooth, creamy and delicious! Fam members that got the same thing agreed. My cousin did get the turon pop tart but thought it's just okay. The gal at the counter that took our order was pleasant. There are brick walls and some Star Wars decor. The disability parking spaces were not close by in the plaza and already occupied. We managed okay parking in a regular spot that was next to a delivery/pickup spot that was clear. As far as regular parking spots, there were many on a Sunday afternoon. The plaza has a Market, a bakery, a restaurant, and shops nearby. I found out there is actually another Cafe 86 closer to me. This is a Cafe that I would introduce out of town family members to. 4 stars!

Our first visit was just alright. They didn't have the desserts I wanted to try so I settled with the Ube truffle which was pretty good. I also got a hot Nutella Latte; honestly, I didn't taste any thing Nutella in it. It was my 2nd visit that made me rate this place 5 stars! This time they had everything. I used the Yelp check in for a free hibiscus cooler which was great. I also had to get myself the Leche flan ube cupcake and the Ube crack cheesecake. Both were so good! read more

First time I came , only 1 person was working, she took my order and made the drink, she did not even wash her hands. Second time, 2 people were there, same thing, took my order, handed the pastries, waited about 10 mins, reminded them of my order and the other guy rushed to make them I think they forgot. . Watching the girl trying to be cashier and make drinks at the same time. Place need to hire more people . And wash your hands before making the drinks pls , coins and bills are dirty. read more

I love Cafe 86! I came here with my Gf and best friend who was visiting from Nebraska. We went on a Friday afternoon when it was scorching hot outside. We ordered Ube truffles, which was the best ever!! It tasted similar to an Oreo type of cake. The inside of the truffle was moist and it just tasted so awesome. We also went back the next day on a Saturday because they did not have the Ube flan cupcakes on that Friday. For me I enjoyed the Ube truffle more than I did the ube flan cupcakes. Don't get me wrong the Ube flan cupcakes were awesome too, but I just liked the truffles better. We also did their check-in to receive their free hibiscus calamansi cooler. At first I wasn't really interested in their drinks, but decided to try it out. I actually really liked it and so did my Gf and best friend. It was perfect on a hot day and it was very refreshing :) They have other desserts that I wanted to try, which I will be going back for. read more

LONG BLACK HAIR IN MY CUPCAKE Yesterday we finally got off work I time early enough where they still had cupcakes left, because after 7pm there normally out. We got one ube tres leche to go and one ube flan cupcake to go. In the middle of eating my cupcake I felt something hard, reach in my mouth and pulled out a long black hair probably 6" to 12 " long. We both got grossed out and threw it away. They flavors were good but I would give it no stars if I could. Food industry people need to wear hairnets when cooking/baking. read more

5 stars for the business owner(?)/main cashier with shiny white teeth and glasses. He's very friendly, accommodating, & informative. Also - he's knowledgeable and seemingly responsible for the environment and work ethic of the cafe. I don't know his name, but he's awesome! My friend and I ordered the ube cheesecake cupcake, thai tea brownie, hibiscus cooler, and a mango hibiscus boba drink as well. EVERYTHING we ordered WAS AMAAAAAAZING. This place is amazing! I've been a fan since the cafe 86 chino hills opened and was so excited they opened one close to me in Cerritos! The kouki monster supercharged is my favorite but all their drinks are delicious and refreshing. The decor and vibe from the place is similar to the other coffee houses they have but it's almost trademarked to them with the brick and wood walls. Ginger and James are just simply delightful and have great customer service! If you're looking for a place to study, hang out and enjoyed delicious coffee and drinks, definitely check out Cafe 86! Halo Halo goodness! This is my new spot for an awesome halo halo. They have an interesting take on the traditional Filipino dessert and it's the best creation ever. They put frosted flakes, boba, various jellies and fruits, ube ice cream, and a delicious piece of leche flan. Traditionally, sweet beans are part of the mixture but not here! Works out perfectly because I am not a fan of those beans and am always on the lookout for a place that will omit them. Go try it and you will get hooked like I just did! read more

I watched an episode on TV where the Owner of Cafe 86 was interviewed. She had presented the host with a variety of food that they offered. From the looks of the food and with positive comments from the host, I decided to give this place a chance. To my surprise, I discovered that they were opening a new location in Artesia which makes it very convenient for me. I was also informed by the Owner as to when they were opening. On my 1st visit, I ordered the popular Ube Leche Flan Cupcake. This was very good. Different concept but very good! The texture of the Flan was smooth and tasty. I also tried the Ube Bar. This was also very good. On my 2nd visit, I tried the Ube Crack Cheesecake. Now I understand why its called that. It is very addicting because it is so good!! I've tried a lot of cheesecake but I have to admit this is one of the best I've ever had. You can't go wrong with this choice. Also, I just wanted to say that the owners of this place are one of the nicest people I've ever met. Their attitude trickles down to the other employees. read more

This little gem is where it's at . If you love anything taro or Ube , here is the spot you need to go to. They various daily offering for ube/taro inspired treats . My favorite is the ube butter bars which are only available on mondays . I make it a point if I'm in the area in on a Monday to grab one of those bad boys . I've been here a few times but the reason I'm writing a review specifically for my visit today is because of the amazing service I received. It was pretty packed, and I was getting really irritated that everything was taking so long until I noticed that there was only one girl taking orders and also fulfilling orders. This girl really hustled. I ordered 3 ube flan cupcakes so I didn't really have to wait for any drinks but man, this girl was really speedy Gonzales with the hands twisting and turning grabbing ingredients and at the same time running back to take a new order. I didn't see anyone helping her. She was too busy for me to want to ask any questions so I don't know why, but I was able to ask for her name real quick. ASHLEY, you're amazing girl! Hopefully they send you some help because you were sweating working your little tail off to get us our orders. I always enjoy coming here but seriously guys, get someone to help the poor girl. She handled the pressure and the wait incredibly. Thanks ashley for the great service today! read more

4 stars because I enjoy the truffles and pop tarts. However the environment needs to be improved. Lately the music has been TOO loud, it's loud enough to hear outside through the glass. I'd like to keep coming to hear to study or casually have a place to hang out, but I may have to find another place if conditions DO NOT change. read more

Been looking forward to trying out Cafe 86 ever since I saw their ube treats all over the IG explore page. The ambiance and layout of the store is definitely a fitting vibe. I ordered the ube truffle, vegan bunts cake and an ube milkshake. I love ube as you can tell but each of these things I ordered were a little too sweet for my liking. The drink tasted as if it had way too much powder in it so it left a dry taste in my mouth. If you're a fan of really sweet things then you won't have a problem trying this place out. read more

My first time going to cafe 86, i was curious aboit therw ube flan and what ever is in there. I ordered 3 ube flan and 2 ube crinkles. I love the presentation--simple yet elegant. But for, ube flan and thw crinkles are too sweet. Maybe try to lessen the level of sweetness little bit? And its little expensive too for a cupcake. Just a littlw improvemwnt and everything is a-ok! read more

I was even able to find filters for my home pour-over setup! Its a smaller shop with a modern, welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay. There is limited seating inside and a couple of benches outside. Not the kind of space where you can sit down to work or study. But perfect for visiting with friends and enjoying the wonderful drinks. Ondo is located in a busy strip mall so parking can be tough. There was a good crowd, sitting at tables and eating and drinking. They have about a dozen different flavors of macaroons. You can't go wrong with any of them, but my top favorite are the Birthday, Fruity Pebble, Horchata, Cappuccino and Ferrero Rocher. Get UBE crazy at Cafe 86! I met up with a friend and we share a love of Boba so we were excited to try out a new place! It's located in a small shopping center and parking here sucks. The spots are TINY so I was an a$$ and took up two spots; I'm tired of getting my car dinged! Anyways- the interior of the cafe is cute! Comfy sofas to chillax on and a few small tables. The menu here is totally catered to Ube- drinks and desserts included! My friend and I both opted for the ube milk tea and we were in heaven. I always get my boba teas half sweet and it was perfect when I requested it here. I'm sad we missed the matcha brownies and the halo halo bread pudding! It seems like there's a lot of different sweets on rotation so I don't know how they schedule that. There were cupcakes when we dined here and I decided to pass. If you love ube everything, you've got to check out Cafe 86! They have a ton of different drinks and dessert options all centered around ube. I really like the Ube Monster drink -- just make sure to adjust the sweetness level to your liking. The Ube milk teas are decent (not the best I've had), but the Ube Latte definitely has that bold ube kick. Their pastries are on the pricey side, so I wouldn't make them a regular order. But if you're not from the area, it's worth trying at least one so you don't get a case of ube FOMO. Service is quick during non-busy hours. Parking, however, can be hit or miss. The lot gets slammed during dinner time, so you're better off visiting earlier in the day unless you enjoy circling for a spot. This place has great OVERALL quality. From the drinks down to the clean restrooms. Every dollar that I spend here has been worth the cost. I highly recommend the Cookie butter milk shake (a secret menu item). It has a unique taste and I cant find something like that anywhere else. I paired my shake with an ube truffle and smookies. The smookies tasted just like smores and the truffles are consistently good. The employees are welcoming and willing to serve you. You will not be disappointed with Cafe 86. So many other boba shops have tried to imitate the way they craft their drinks and pastries. They have even gone as far as to copy Cafe 86's aesthetic, but no matter how hard they try they cant get it right. read more

Was visiting a friend in the area and she suggested that I come and check out the place if I wanted to try really good ube drinks and she was most definitely right! Loved their halo halo and even tried the ube milkshake. You can add or remove toppings to fit to your liking which is as great. Their little desserts were very tasty as well. Great average normal (nothing bad) cafe place. Can't go wrong with any order. Amongst my friends and myself, we got the Ube Monster, Peach Mango Iced Tea, and Thai Milk Tea Boba. All good. read more

I come here with my friends to grab a drink and some bakery. The tea is really good and the bakery is usually pretty tasty. They are always busy, be prepare for long lines. read more
