3.5 stars: I've known about this place for a while (I mean who would miss seeing their picture-worthy piggy buns) and finally visited. The (molten custard) piggy buns definitely live up to the hype and is probably one the best around. Heads up as they are scorching hot and will burn your mouth when eaten too soon. I saw they had a coffee milk tea consisting of HK milk tea and Viet coffee, a combo that is super intriguing, but ultimately failed with its taste. The ratio of tea overpowered everything and the texture ended being more watery and worsened as the ice melted. Although I'm turned off a bit by my drink order, the cafe menu offers a bunch of other Asian pastries too which I'll have to make a return for. read more

I've been to Cafe Aloe multiple times, and I love how spacious it is. It's the perfect place to get some work done while enjoying a latte. I've tried the black sesame latte, musubi HK sandwich, coconut matcha latte, and strawberry milk matcha latte. I haven't had anything that I didn't enjoy here. The staff is friendly as well. Walked in, no greeting. Staff looked sorta miserable no smile or hello. Pretty rude. Got the musubi sandwich, a crème brûlée egg tart and the black sesame crema. Musubi sandwich was decent, sweet buns aren't really my thing though. Egg tart was good but not extraordinary or anything, just tasted like a typical egg tart. While I was there one of the staff started vacuuming and it was really loud and disturbing even though there were people next to me trying to work or read. Perfect cafe for studying and catching up with friends over coffee! Visiting Seattle for the summer with a friend and we were craving egg tarts! Chinatown's great but we wanted to try something new which is why we made the trip to Cafe Aloe . The cafe has such a cute vibrance and the staff is pretty nice. We ordered each of the egg tart flavors with Creme Brûlée being my personal favorite! Also got the HK sandwich for lunch and was also great. The sizes are a bit small for the price, but the flavors and foods are a bit more unique which make sense. Overall a fun experience! I have been wanting to try this place since they opened and made for a Yelp Elite event recently. It's a cute cafe, spacious, with great options for food and drink. Along with the complimentary items as part of the Yelp event, I also got Crispy BBQ Pork Bun, and Shrimp Dumpling. They let you know when you order that Shrimp dumpling takes about 15 mins. I loved the Egg tart, and Shrimp dumpling so much, I had to get some more to go. I got the Creme Brulee Egg Tart and Pork, Shrimp and Mushroom Shu Mai to go (takes about 20 mins) , and loved them. This is such a cute little spot! I ordered the Cookies and crema latte, it has a rich delicious coffee flavor. It's super creamy and perfect for a satisfying dessert drink. Menu is on top buy you can ask for more items that appear on the photos here on Yelp :) I ordered the mint coffee and the pig bunds. It took a loooong time for my order to come out. I could see they were struggling with the mint. That's probably why there were only a couplw of tiny leaves in my coffee. I found this cafe while searching for brunch places online in Bellevue, probably wouldn't have been able to find it out on the streets otherwise. The black sesame matcha latte had a very nice subtle taste of sesame, I couldn't really taste the matcha though The honey walnut shrimp sandwich was very tasty. The egg was fluffy, the shrimp juicy, and the taste and texture of the crumbly pineapple bun really complemented everything well. Adding this cafe to one of my favorite cafes in Bellevue. It's a cute cafe located in a nice quiet part of Downtown Bellevue where parking is easy to find. The cafe interior itself is beautifully decorated. Walking in, the first thing you see is their Cafe Aloe wall of Ivy. There's a good number of seating and lots of windows for natural light as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. I wanted to try their dim sum items, but I went at a time when it wasn't readily available and I was tight on time. We happened upon this little gem whilst driving out of Bellevue on Christmas Eve in 2020...the worst year since time started! We were looking for some finger food to eat in the car and this place was absolutely what we were looking for. They have three types of piggy buns, three types of egg tarts as well as barbecue pork buns and some good coffee drinks as well as some Asian drinks. The piggy buns are both super cute and super delicious. There were taro, custard and molten custard flavors. All were delicious, but the molten was the favorite by far. The egg tarts were crème brûlée, standard and Matcha. Prices were very fair and the food was both delicious and perfect for grabbing and going. We ordered and it was ready is about 20 minutes and the little dudes (and us) all loved the different options. Really great little cafe in Bellevue! I had heard the name but never realized they served asian inspired drinks or pastries. Not sure if there is parking for the building but at around 5pm on a Tuesday I had no problem finding street parking right outside- there isn't much going on in that section of east DT Bellevue. Yelp brought me here with a perk for Elites (free drink and pastry). I really enjoyed the experience and purchased extra items and can't wait to get back to try more of the menu. The cookies and crema really stood out to me from photos. I was afraid it might be too rich or sweet, but it was well balanced and very delicious. During the early evening on a Tuesday the remaining pastry selection was slim but I'm a big egg tart fan, so it worked out. The original egg tart had a great flavor and texture as well. TL;DR, pretty bad service, flies, dirty tables, piggy buns were disappointing. Note, we only ordered piggy buns from this place, and the other items may have been more redeeming, but still an overall disappointing experience from this place. To start, we had a hard time even finding the entrance, it was unclear that the front was actually still open because the building they are a part of had a sign that said to use a different entrance. Would've been good to have some sort of sign saying that the restaurant entrance was still this specific part. The entrance had a bunch of large flies around the doorway, and when you walk in you can clearly see flies flying around. Flies I understand can be hard to control, but the people there just weren't even trying to get rid of them. The tables were just dirty as well. Crumbs from previous customers, and the place wasn't even busy. When we went to order, we asked a question and a follow up question about some of the items on the menu, and they responded back in a condescending tone. The piggy buns are what this restaurant touts as one of the reasons to go there, so we ordered it here. It's literally just the same buns you can get at like HMart and steam at home, just with the little piggy face with a massive markup. 0 value in that aside from a fancy picture for influencers. read more

I came here on Sunday early afternoon. It was fairly busy (probably 5/8 tables occupied). There were a mix of people either working on their laptops or meeting having coffee. To enter the cafe, go through the door for the apartment building, but instead of going right, go left to enter the cafe. There is street parking on the street, however I parked in the parking garage across the street in one of the retail spots. The ordering process was very easy. The cashier answered whatever questions I had. They had a variety of teas and coffee as well as mocktail mojitos. They have their standard drinks as well as a short list of seasonal drinks. I ordered a piggy bun and a salted caramel coffee. I got my order in about 5-10 minutes. The piggy buns are just so darn cute! I got the taro filling, which is not an overly sweet filling. It went well with my coffee. On my way out, I got an order to go for my husband - I also ordered him a custard piggy bun and a hong kong sandwich with sausage. The bun was orange mango flavored, which is unique! He really enjoyed it...didn't even get a chance to take a picture of it! Prices range from like $2.50 - $10 depending on what you order. Cafe Aloe is an aesthetic cafe with a few tables to have lovely chats with company or to do work! Street parking is only available, which can be busy on weekends. I was very impressed with the delicious food options, but I was disappointed with the drinks (seasonal specials) that my significant other and I received. Of note, food takes longer to prepare than than the beverages, but we were okay with waiting. If we only had the beverages, I would have rated this cafe as a 3, but the food raised it to a 4. Cookie butter latte (5/10): This seasonal special was available with oat milk. This beverage had no espresso and was topped with whipped cream and sugar cookie crumbles. I felt disappointed because this drink was bland with no taste of cookie butter. I felt like I could just taste oat milk. Peppermint mocha (7/10): Another seasonal special that was available with decaf and oat milk. I enjoyed the peppermint mocha more than my cookie butter latte. Although I couldn't taste any peppermint, the coffee was the perfect amount of sweet and enjoyable to have! Crispy Hong Kong sandwich with spam (8/10): This is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I had! Basically, this sandwich consists of a pineapple bun containing spam, eggs with a little bit of green onions, and cheese. The sweetness of the bun meshed well with the saltiness of the contents. The eggs were fluffy, the spam was well-cooked, and the cheese was somewhat melted. While it may be messy to eat, it is definitely worth it! Xiao long bao (8/10): Both my significant other and I enjoyed these delectable soup dumplings! Pineapple bun (8/10): This bun was sweet and fluffy with that crunchy cookie crust. A yummy treat to have! Piggy Bun with molten custard, taro (8/10): Such cute, fluffy, jiggly buns that look like pigs! It's hard not to fall in love with these adorable sweets. Thankfully, these are delicious too! The molten custard tasted better than the taro because it was warm and fluid, but the taro was still good! Creme brulee egg tart (8/10): This egg tart was topped with a layer of hardened caramelized sugar. While it didn't taste like creme brulee, it was still tasty especially with the sugar layer on top! Stopped by here for lunch a few days ago. The cafe is very clean and the staff are friendly. The Excellent: The Molten Custard Piggy Bun was one of the best I've had in the Greater Seattle Area. It's one of my all time favorites and rarely do people get it right. It was warm and fresh and ooey-gooey, seasoned to perfection and just spectacular. Easily my top recommended dish. The Crispy Baked BBQ Pork Bun was another absolute winner. It was seasoned perfectly, stuffed well with delicious char siu and was a great balance of sweet, salty and umami. The Good: The Har Gao was fairly good. Nothing to write home about but a solid shrimp dumpling. The Mehhh: The Creme Brule Egg Tart could have been so much better. It was actually delicious and had so much potential but my tart was severely under-baked and just pale and doughy. A crisp golden brown pastry would have made this a star. Skip the Shu Mai. They were not good. It's my go-to dumpling at every restaurant and these just had no flavor or texture and were cold and boring. Overall the prices are a little steep but that's also probably because of the aesthetic appeal and "instagramability" of the food. The hits are really good though and I'll probably go back for those. Pro Tip: Make sure you ask for Chili Oil, especially with the baked buns. They have Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chili Crisp which pairs perfectly with the buns. read more

I was craving a good Hong Kong style pineapple bun and I'm glad I was able to find this place through Yelp and Instagram. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and they were fairly busy with only a few tables open by the time I arrived. The menu is quite unique in the sense that it has a lot of cafe favorites such as lattes and teas, but everything had a Hong Kong twist. I ordered the crispy Hong Kong sandwich with spam and a Sea Salt Crema Latte. The food came out nice and hot and the bun seemed freshly baked. The sandwich was decently sized with nice fluffy eggs and crispy slices of spam on both sides. The bun was soft but the cookie top was crumbly and crunchy, everything you would want from a pineapple bun. At first I thought cheese with the sandwich would taste off, but it was pleasantly delicious and added more flavor that I expected. Although I enjoy my coffee stronger, the coffee wasn't too bad. It was more on the sweeter and milder side, which others might enjoy. I will definitely be making a trip here again to try all the other pastries they have to offer! read more

I had high hopes for this place because they had such a limited menu, so I figured--you can't really mess things up, can you? Joke's on me, you can. I ordered the shu mai, har gow, sausage bun, crispy BBQ pork bun, and egg tart. The har gow and crispy BBQ pork bun were both good, although the bun was a little sweet for me. The sausage bun was just a hot dog wrapped in bread, so don't waste your money unless that's what you're craving. The egg tart was pretty standard, not the best I've had but not the worst. But the shu mai was awful. It had a funny smell like it was old, and when I bit into it, it also tasted old. I ended up spitting it back out and throwing it away. I didn't try any of the drinks, but will definitely not be coming back here for the food. There are way better places for dim sum and much more variety on their menus. read more

TLDR: how awesome is it to be able to walk into a cafe and take out dim sum? I ordered online for pick up. Crispy BBQ Pork Bun: oh man, this is a definite must try. It's not your typical sugar glazed BBQ Pork Bun from a dim sum place. The outside of the bun is slightly breaded and provides this very satisfying subtle crunch. The BBQ pork filling is really good as well if you like sweet BBQ. Egg Tart: Pretty good. I love egg tarts and it was just the right consistency and not overly sweet. Creme Brulee Egg Tart: a glorified egg tart with hardened sugar on top. Tastes the same as the egg tart but sweeter. Surprise surprise haha. Piggy Bun: custard was not as "molten" as I thought it was going to be but it was still really good---sweet and slightly salty! I do wish there was slightly more custard in there though. It's located inside of the apartment building Ceresa just across from the lobby entrance. There's plenty of seating inside as well as outside on the balcony when the weather is nicer, so it's a really great place to come with your laptop, iPad, or book and get a little bit of work done. I often go here for their drinks - my favorites from their standard menu are the Sea Salt Crema and Cookies and Crema Lattes. The crema is delicious, a little salty, and not too sweet. I just went today to try their seasonal February drink, the Strawberry Tiramisu Latte and it's SOOO delicious! I love that they're innovative and always coming up with new, exciting things to make. Their animal themed buns are adorable (I've seen them do a tiger and bunny version, as opposed to the standard piggy). They also will occasionally announce specials and frequently share new menu items in their instagram! We also tried the egg tart, which was a solid classic egg tart -- flaky and sweet. The decor is a bit more spartan compared to some other cafes. They do have a pretty large space, which I feel like they could do more with such as adding more plants, although there is a cute photo-worthy wall with greenery and a neon sign. I stopped by on a Friday, just like other reviews mentioned, there is only street parking. It was quite busy that day but I did manage to find a spot. I got an iced crema taro latte with a spicy hk sandwich. The drink came faster than the sandwich for obvious reasons. Between the two things I ordered, I would recommend the Spicy HK Sandwich but probably would try a different drink. I thought the pork floss and the sweetness of the pineapple bun that was used as the bread to be a pleasant contrast. The spicy mayo wasn't evenly spread throughout my sandwich so I was able to see how it was like without it and I actually prefer it that way. The crema taro latte was very milk-y rather than taro so if you like a lighter taro flavor, this might be up your alley but it wasn't mine. It's a reasonable cafe to try and work from as the benches next to the windows all seemed to have outlets. Overall, I thought this cafe was pretty cute. I wouldn't put this as a must go but it's cute and decent if you're nearby. read more
