I was in the mood for some good Mediterranean dinner and finally stopped by this restaurant after walking by many times. and the dinner was amazing! we were seated fast, there are outside and indoors tables, we got a free appetizer on our table right away, the waters were refilled fast and they were in nice glasses too. the prices for the portions are definitely worth it, and the food was delicious. the meat was grilled very well, the rice was delicious, and the customer service was great. I heard them ask other customers how they feel about the food and it was a nice touch. the decor is very nice as well. Will be back again :)

Absolutely love this place! Their Turkish baklava is so fresh and tastes truly homemade, just like in Türkiye! The restaurant is spotless, and the sujuk pide and chicken kebab are both delicious. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Turkish flavors! Service is fast and ambiance is authentic!!

Ambiance - 5/5. It's a nicely decorated place, very cozy but smaller setting with small tables for 2-4people only. Not good for large group. Service - 5/5 very fast and friendly Food - 3/5 It was just ok for me as I had the falafel wrap and lentil soup. I think Oren hummus is soo much more to my taste. That said my colleague loves the kebab and the gyro salad as well as the baklava.

Stopped by Cafe Baklava as friend wanted a place with vegetarian options and the other wanted Middle Eastern flavors... Cafe Baklava was less than a mile away from where we were taking a class: Mountain View Candle Company and had an hour to wait. Downtown Mountain View has plenty of dining options and within walking distance so it was pretty convenient. The food ordered was flavorful with aromatics and only complaint was the accompanying vegetable of zucchini, carrots and cauliflower didn't seem cooked and a bit crunchy...could've used another 3-5 mins to be perfect Kebabs, lamb shank, complimentary, warmed housemade pita bread with tomato, garlic-olive oil dip was wonderful. Nice ambiance with outdoor and indoor seating. Welcoming, friendly staff and service was quick and efficient and we were finished in an hour. Plenty of dessert options but too full to indulge this visit. Lot parking and street parking on the side streets.

Next level middle eastern food. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. On the more expensive side, I think it's worth it. 10/10

We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking through downtown Mountain View and I'm so happy that we did. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food that we ordered and the service was wonderful. I'm assuming it is a small family owned business because the atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming. The baba ghanoush was to die for -- I just wish it was a bigger portion for the price we paid. Irrespective of this, I would definitely order it, and everything else we had again. Try it out, I'm sure you'll love it too.

Meyhouse Sunnyvale -- Excellent Food, but the Service Pacing Could Be Much Better…read more I tried the $44.95 three-course prix fixe lunch and chose the Köpoğlu as my meze, upgraded the main to the Adana Kebab for $3, and added the Künefe for $2. The food was the strongest part of the experience, and several things stood out more than I expected. The complimentary bread was excellent--warm, fragrant, and nicely textured. I also really enjoyed the green herb sauce served with it. The parsley and mint flavors were quite pronounced, almost grassy, but in a good way. It was fresh and aromatic and worked very well with the bread. The Köpoğlu was one of the highlights of the meal. The roasted eggplant, tomato sauce, garlic yogurt, and olive oil were very well balanced. I especially liked the garlic yogurt--the acidity, garlic, and creaminess were all present without any one element overpowering the others. The tomato added sweetness and acidity, while the olive oil rounded everything out. It was especially good with the bread. The Adana Kebab was also very good. My first bite came from the end of the skewer and was slightly dry, but once I got into the center, the meat was noticeably juicier. The char from the grill was excellent, and the lamb had a clear lamb flavor without being gamey. The chopped red pepper mixed into the meat also added another layer of aroma and flavor. Even the rice surprised me. It looked like plain white rice, but it was flavorful enough to eat on its own, with a noticeable buttery, almost milky aroma. The flatbread underneath the kebab was also very good after soaking up some of the lamb juices and fat. If I had one criticism of the main plate itself, it would be the proportion of onion-tomato salad to meat. The salad tasted fine, but for my preference, there was a little too much of it. I really enjoy the lingering flavor of grilled lamb, and while the rice and bread help carry that flavor, the raw onion and tomato act as a strong palate cleanser and erase it quickly. Since the meat portion was relatively small compared with the rice and salad, I would personally prefer a little more kebab and a little less salad. The Künefe was another highlight. I really enjoyed the contrast between the crispy kadayıf on the outside and the soft, warm cheese inside. The pistachios on top were not something I particularly enjoyed by themselves, but mixed together with the cheese, syrup, and crispy pastry, they made much more sense. The first few bites, especially the areas that had not absorbed too much syrup, were excellent. Toward the center it became a little sweeter than I prefer, but overall I still liked it very much. Food-wise, I would actually give Meyhouse a slight edge over Dishdash. There were more layers and more small details to notice throughout the meal, from the bread and herb sauce to the Köpoğlu, Adana, rice, flatbread, and dessert. The service, however, did not match the level of the food. The restaurant was quite quiet at lunch, but the pacing was surprisingly rushed. I had barely started eating the Köpoğlu when the main course arrived. For a menu specifically presented as a three-course prix fixe, I expected the courses to be paced more deliberately. Instead, I had to choose between continuing to enjoy the appetizer and eating the kebab while it was still hot. There was also an issue with clearing the table. One staff member who was not the person taking my order repeatedly tried to remove my bread and the green herb sauce. The first time, I specifically asked him to leave the sauce. Later, after I finished the main course, he came back and again started clearing both without asking. I told him I wanted the bread to go, so he left the bread, but still removed the herb sauce. It was a small detail, but it made the service feel mechanical rather than attentive to what the guest had already requested. Overall, I would rate the food around 8.5/10 and the service around 6.5-7/10. Meyhouse is a little more expensive than Dishdash, but the prix fixe lunch is also very substantial. I only ate about half of the complimentary bread, and I was already quite full after the main course. Finishing the Künefe left me completely stuffed, so the portion size is definitely generous. I would still come back. Next time, I would probably try the Ahtapot, especially since it is only a $9 upgrade on the prix fixe compared with $25 à la carte. The food gives me a reason to return; I just hope the pacing and attention to small service details are better next time.

A fun way to start is to get Raki, which is like the Turkish equivalent of ouzo, but you have to like anise/licorice. They have a few options available, and our Turkish server was helpful when we were trying to choose one. They do have a full bar available. Onto food: We had a group of 4 and ordered everything family style. - Girit: a garlic and spice whipped cheese with pistachios, great with bread. - Pancar: roasted yellow and red beets with Turkish white cheese. - Uc Borek: 3 phyllo rolls: they're fairly small, so it's hard for more than 3-4 people to share (1 bite each). One is zucchini, one is cheese, and one has beef. Beef was my favorite - Ahtapot: fire grilled octopus with a bean spread. - Ege Salatasi: similar to a Greek salad with tomatoes (so good in summer!), green bell peppers, onions, cucumber, croutons, Turkish white cheese, olives. - Chilean sea bass: loved the Aegean greens with this. The sea bass was so flavorful and was a generous portion. - Alinazik: beef tenderloin skewers with smoked eggplant labneh. Desserts: - Kunefe: melted mozzarella filling coated in phyllo, served warm. - Damla sakizli: their homemade mastika ice cream, which pairs wonderfully with the kunefe It's best to go with a group so that you can try more dishes. Everything had bold Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flavors, and our server was really helpful when we were trying to decide on dishes.
