This is a small business with one of the lowest prices I've seen for food and drinks. My total after getting a chai latte and sandwich was 17$. The area inside doesn't have much seating inside but there are also tables outside. Very cozy and quiet. There is wifi. Chester, the owner is very friendly and has definitely built a community with his customers. This cafe was hit by the pandemic and had to drop a few employees but still keep their prices startling low at 4.50 for a "small" drink that still serves as a medium as well as sandwiches under 10$. I would come again if in the area.

I had Lunch here with my parents and had a bagel sandwich. The food took 29 minutes to get out but it tasted great. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and the ambience of the place was very nice. I may come back to this place at a later date. I give them 4 stars.

homie and eclectic spot in the neighborhood. friendly owners with the adorable puppy! definitely a dog friendly establishment. coffee was legit. And yes I see that people are commenting on the messiness in the back, I actually think the maximalistic ensemble carried throughout the store has its own charm, great for photoshoot/move set. the booth/sofa corner was a good spot to chill and look outside the window to people watch.

Cozy little quaint spot with lots of choices, good coffee, good ambiance and very friendly people working there. Came for coffee, because the cafe closer to me didn't have good coffee. I will be back for the food, happy to find and support a small business like this in my neighborhood!

Quirky and very cozy. The bagel was stellar and reasonably priced (for SF standards!) The WiFi is impressively fast

    "Dirty Chai Jasmine Tea Latte"

Chester (the owner) makes the most amazing cappuccinos (I like the triple) but his "dirty chai" is to die for! Green tea and jasmine teas were both great chai tea lattes. It was our first stop every morning during our stay. Chester was delightful. Breakfast we had yummy breakfast sandwiches and a really good grilled cheese. Highly recommend it all!

They explained that the flight includes an espresso shot, espresso shot with milk, hot coffee, and iced coffee. I hadn't had a straight espresso shot before, so this wasn't for me personally just because it was so overpowering. I enjoyed the other three though. Like the majority of SF, parking is difficult to locate. I was dropped off nearby the location. There is indoor and outdoor seating; I was able to grab an empty spot late in the morning on a weekend, but I don't think seating is always readily available. It's not a huge space.

At 11 am on a Sunday they were out of their best- black sesame Kouign Amann and the Raspberry Almond Croissant, which I took care of by paying a visit to Juniper bakery (sister business) later in the day. The Mocha with the house made nut milk fell flat. It needed something. I am not a fan of syrupy coffees and appreciate the more purist approach but this one just didn't do anything for me. The chai latte which I would never order was actually the best chai latte I have ever had, it was smooth like silk. Maybe I just had the wrong coffee order. Besides that, got the hot chocolate and the coffee tasting. I was surprised there was no explanation provided with the coffee- I figured it's all Honduran but an overview of some sort would have helped. I enjoyed all the coffees in there except the latte. Will visit again, earlier in the day so they are not out of their best sellers and try a different order.

We went straight to the tablet to place our orders. We ordered two Signature Cream Top (Espresso and Hojicha) and the Sohn Breakfast Sandwich. Both drinks were really good. The coffee had a great flavor. The hojicha was strong and delicious. I liked that we could really taste the hojicha, and it wasn't too milky. The sandwich was warm and served with these soft, flaky, square croissant buns. The egg had a soft tofu-like texture. The melted cheese pulled it all together. The onion jam was good but I could do with a little less. Nonetheless, I would not opt out of getting the onion jam; it was unique. The cafe is very spacious and aesthetically pleasing. I love the interior and the way it's decorated. It's modern, warm, and inviting. We would definitely love to come back one day.

I've had this place saved for awhile, and I was anxious to try it on a sunny Saturday, knowing that reviews often mention a long wait. To my surprise, my visit went well and I waited under 30 minutes!! **There's 2 separate lines - To dine in, and to go. I ordered to go. FOOD: 9/10 MATCHA: 8/10 AMBIANCE: 10/10 SERVICE: 9/10 What I ordered: Kimchi Fried Rice ($14) Iced Matcha with Oat-milk and Sweetener ($6) FOOD: 9/10 The kimchi fried rice was so good! I loved how they were not shy with the garnishments (seaweed and green onions). I love that it already came with a well cooked fried egg and I did not have to pay for extra which is rare. I did notice the fried rice was a little bit on the sweeter side but not too sweet, hence why I give it a 9/10. MATCHA: 8/10 They have GOOD quality matcha! I give it an 8 because personally, it was too strong for me despite paying extra for sweetener. It honestly did not taste like they added sweetener so I had to add my own at home. But honestly, their Matcha can easily be a 9/10 rating for those who just like matcha and milk on it's own. There's no doubt the matcha was good quality, whisked well, and not grainy. AMBIANCE: 10/10 I loved the aesthetic and ambiance at Sohn. It's very spacious both for the waiting area and to dine in. There's an upstairs and downstairs, and I noticed there was kitchen-side seating as well. Sohn is modern, sleek, and elegant but not overly decorated. SERVICE: 9/10 Although when ordering to go, you order on your own through the kiosk so you don't really encounter much interactions with the staff. However, there is a staff member that was at the front, directing people when to come in and wait, etc. and she was very nice! I even asked her a few questions about the menu and she was very detailed and kind. I definitely would come back but also in no rush to, since parking wasn't that great.

I have gone to Blackbird a handful of times and have enjoyed the experience each time. Blackbird is primarily a bookstore, but they do have an outdoor window where you can order drinks ranging from matcha (Rocky's Matcha, if you're curious about which brand they use), lattes, and tea. They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. Heads up: the seating here is limited but very lovely. Inside, there are a couple of community tables, but their outdoor area is absolutely magical, with lush greenery and benches for you to enjoy your drinks. This time around, I got one of their seasonal drinks, a honey lavender vanilla latte, and I paired it with an Earl Grey olive oil loaf. The portion of the pastry was generous and moist, while the icing was not too sweet. Overall, a great pick for a cafe if you're in the area.

They have a really lovely garden and patio in the back. There is also a bathroom. The acoustics and set up for events isn't great, though. It was hard for me to concentrate on the speaker for the book talk since you can hear the noises from the cafe behind and also the sounds of other store customers all around you. That was the only downside, but I think it's a very charming bookstore otherwise.

They used a strawberry cream top instead of a puree, which I actually enjoyed. It added a nice creaminess to the drink, and the matcha was very smooth and strong. It worked well together. I also tried their double hojicha, and while I enjoyed how nutty and strong the hojicha was, I did find it a little bit grainy. I wish it was a little smoother like the matcha was. I usually don't drink/like coffee, but the guava cold brew sounded so interesting I couldn't resist. The fruity jasmine tea somehow paired so well with the coffee and made it a nice refreshing drink. I was also lucky enough to try the matcha crepe cake, which I believe they get from Lady M. It had really nice layers and was light, but unfortunately it was a little too sweet for me. Overall a very solid matcha/coffee option in SF. They have a beautiful interior too, perfect for catching up with friends. Servers were sweet as well!
