I'm v adventurous w regard to food n like to try diff cuisines.when they had international day at work employees made different dishes from various countries. Macedonian cuisine caught my eye. Was delicious n different ever since then wanted to try other Macedonian food. A fellow employee recommended cafe bubamara n thought I'd try it w another friend for lunch, Cafe is in the heart of Clifton in botany village n I've never Been there. Cute restaurant. Under renovation so u had to go in thru side next to the pathed car. Very quaint. Decorated very nice. Friendly welcoming staff, We tried the veggie panini and mini burek- meat n spinach feta cheese. Thought was mini but they were quite big. Enjoyed the meat burek n a small piece of the spinach/ feta as my tummy was already full. Very nice flaky pastry n filling tasted yummy. The veggie panini was a generous portion w tomatoes roasted red peppers, olive tapenade n goat cheese. Tasted really good. Finished only half portion of it. Tx u for a great lunch, will be back again.

The plethora of fake flowers EVERYWHERE should have been the first red flag (at least they weren't dusty). Flowers even engulfed the flat screen TV. All the chicken based entrees and sandwiches had zero taste. Seasoning anyone? $4.00 for a teeny coke and no tap water available. Salads also were forgettable but the barak was tasty and with the right amount of flaky fluff. I say stick to the barak and perhaps grab a desert. This place maybe ok for a first date (cause it can be quite cozy) or just grab a desert after dinner elsewhere.

It's a cute restaurant with nice outdoor area which is nice when it's good weather. Tried their fresh lemonade, however I wasn't impressed and it's pricey. You have to add your own sugar in. But the fresh spinach and cheese burek was warm, crispy and delightful! It's one of the things they are known for so def try a burek. We also ordered the veggie pizza which was like upside down pizza made with fresh bread. We got the rafato cake for dessert to go and it was okay. The waiter was helpful in giving suggestions and letting us know what they are known for which is burek and beignets. As some of the items are made fresh it does take time to get your food once you order. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try and can't wait to go back to try other items along with the Turkish coffee. It's street parking and we were able to find spot easily.

What is a bubamara? Bubamara means ladybug in South Slavic languages! Loved finding the ladybugs throughout the stunningly beautiful Cafe Bubamara! Indoor and outdoor seating areas- every direction you look is scenic! Celebrated Father's Day! Brunch was amazingly delicious! Party of 4- we each othered entrees and shared! Loved all of them. Definitely have to come to enjoy the amazing selections available! So excited to be there and spend time with my family- I forgot to check in!! Cafe Bubamara does not accept reservations. While looking for a brunch we saw the beautiful images of cafe Bubamara. Upon arrival we parked at the public parking lot, a block across the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty packed, but we were lucky to get a table right away. As we walked thru the restaurant, we got to see the gorgeous aesthetics of this place, filled with colors, flowers, and greenery. The menu had so many unique Turkish dishes I had never seen before. I started with the Turkish coffee, a hardcore black coffee that came in a small cute kettle pot which few sugar cubes in a bowl. The mini burek was a delicious bread filled with ground beef. Ustipci, that is like beignet, was full of fluffy soft yummy dough, with a bunch of cheese cubes. The domaci dorucak was a dish of three spicy beef sausages with side of bread, cheese and cucumber. The sausages were excellent. Our dishes were served in quick time. Service was amazing. Simply put we loved everything about this place, the food, the service, the ambience. We will be dining here more often now for sure.

Went here for a quick bite before heading to an event and it was a great experience. the backyard has a wonderful garden with luscious flowers and greenery. the food i got a chicken quesadilla and it came with salsa guacamole and sour cream. very flavorful and delicious. the front desk staff was condescending with an attitude but once we got to the garden the staff was very sweet and took care of my party. i'll totally go back here if im ever in the area!

Charming and lovely cafe at Clifton NJ. The decoration was beyond words. Flowers and antiques brought the ambiance to a different level. I like beef sausage links, very juicy and flavorful. Bread and pita are all toasted and buttered. Chicken sausages are a little dry. I don't like the ice tea. The iconic coffee is quite strong. It got really crowded for brunch / lunch. We went by 1130/12 and luckily got a table. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The atmosphere and garden are beautiful, if crowded and slightly claustrophobic. I had a couple of key issues. First, the breakfast platter with the beef sausage. My friend and I both got the same thing and both our eggs were cooked differently; hers were runny and mine were fully cooked. The sausage had an extremely gamey and meaty funk that made them hard to stomach. The bread did not come with butter or oil. The Turkish very coffee was good, however, and served in lovely cups. The restaurant also allows dogs in the outdoor area. Not sure if they're service animals only, but it was such a tight space that it made things uncomfortable. I would perhaps give this spot another chance to try the borek.

Listen- my friend and I didn't come nearly hungry enough so next time we go I'm trying more than just a salad and an app, but both were amazing!! We got coffee as well but it was fine- nothing special. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio that we missed because it was closed for the day for some reason, but the interior was very cozy so no complaints there. These little fried things were to diiiiie for, and eat them with the feta and honey and its chefs kiss! Will definitely be back :)

I am surprised I haven't reviewed Cafe Bubamara before because I thought I had. What an awesome spot, Turkish coffee was spot on with a Turkish delight treat on the side. Interesting and creative dishes to try here- anything in puff pastry was really tasty, delicious fillings. I've come here twice and would come again.

The atmosphere in the place is very warm, the welcome is very friendly when you enter the establishment, the music was in accordance with the place very well done. When I asked our waitress Natasha for her recommendation on the menu, she explained it to me very well, very good professionalism, apart from very attentive at the table at all times, I think it was a very good experience. In food wow the scrambled eggs were super fresh very well cooked with honesty instead of reading a review it is better to visit the place and make your own conclusions. But very well recommended 100%

This is my favorite go to coffee shop We love their cheese Burek and the Turkish coffee. The desserts are also incredible. However the positive atmosphere takes the cake We have been here countless times and the service only gets better. The design and quality has always been amazing. 3 Stars only, because it's truly a gorgeous spot. However, the staff is rude. The owner took our order (incorrectly) Bc no one else approached our table; even though, they were cleaning the tables around us and there was no wait or new customers. We waited almost 20 minutes to get our drinks, didn't finish the food (pretty bland), and had to wave the server for our bill at the end of the meal after sitting there for 20 minutes. It is a weekday-not busy at all. Meh experience all around. read more

Stumbled across this place by accident and so happy we did!!! Ambience is excellent (both indoors and out), food was delicious (we had a mini cheese bureka, and 2 personal burekas - meat & cheese, and spinach & cheese) plus a salad. Everything was tasty and cooked perfectly. There's an amazing looking dessert & coffee menu so we will be back for sure! The only negative is they allow smoking in the back patio and that was less than ideal while dining. read more

0 reviews if possible the Wife of the owner, who I have never seen made this a terrible experience. been coming here for years and never has a terrible experience like I did today. Came in with a baby stroller and we were told that there is no room for the baby stroller(baby was sleeping in it) and there were only 3 busy tables. All were free. After going back and forth I ended up going in with the baby and the car seat. She followed and told me to put the carseat in the chair(with the baby in) i said no its fine on the floor, she rudely pushed the chair and started yelling how its safer on the chair. THIS IS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, TERRIBLE MANERS. I AM NOT COMING BACK HERE. read more

This is an unassuming place from the outside, but once you go in, they have multiple rooms, with a long hall with outdoor seating and a large patio all the way in the back. Service is friendly, food is very good with generous portions, the deserts snd coffee (Turkish) are to die for, and the ambiance charming. read more

I love the atmosphere of this cafe; feels like you're transported to a cafe in Europe. I must confess that I always order burek so I cannot speak for the other food,sweets, or coffee but everything looks delicious. You can eat in or take out. For those that never had/ don't know what burek is; it's a savory pie made with a flaky fillo dough and filling. Common fillings are ground meat and onions (my favorite), spinach and cheese (also delicious), or cheese. The pies are a bit greasy and I recommend ordering the buttermilk like yogurt drink with it. Traditionally you drink the yogurt to cut the grease and help digestion. Side note: I hear burek is a great hangover food. I'm not Serbian or Macedonian so when i first went to this cafe i worried i'd feel out of place but the staff is always very friendly. read more

I met my good friend who is visiting me from Boston at this lovely café. We were both pleasantly surprised to find this cute café in Clifton. We love the decor and the food. He had the Turkish coffee which he loved and I had the latte and baklava which was to die for. It was not too sweet and it was just perfect. I will definitely visit this café again and try the other food. The owner and the staff were very friendly and hospitable. I highly recommend this place to everyone . I'm a New Yorker and I will definitely go back again. read more

Very nice place! Super cute. The prices are a bit high for a cafe. My lemonade was $6 and it was super basic and sour. We ordered two burek it was amazing the potato and zucchini. My friend also got a sandwich which was super delicious. The cafe was also very cute definitely recommend sitting in the backyard read more

Man working there laughed at my 3 yr old with special needs. He didn't get why he needed a high chair and made a big fuss to us. Staring at him and questioned our parenting.. Then he said oh yeah I get it, he is a baby. Totally unprofessional and immature. We were a party of 5 celebrating my last day before school started and I wouldn't be around as much for my son (who is a complete momma's boy). This place was special to us and he ruined it for all of us. We left immediately. Be ready to explain your situation if you have a child who is different. read more

I really had high hopes for this place. Based on the reviews I decided to try this place for brunch with some girlfriends. The only reason I'm not giving one star is the ambiance. It's a cute little place however the service is awful and those of us who received our meals were not impressed. Maybe we just had a bad waitress and it was an off day idk. Everyone who was seated after us got served first. It took us about 25 mins to get waters after asking twice. I understand it was busy but again others who were seated after us were already getting their food. When our food finally arrived it was just ok. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich and said it didn't have any flavor. My other friend ordered a breakfast platter which she said also lacked flavor. My meal never arrived even though the waitress wrote it down. After about 15 minutes I told her I was still waiting for my omelet and was told she forgot to tell the cook. She never checked in on us to see how everything was or offered to comp something, after having forgotten my meal. AWFUL costumer service. I would say I would give this place another chance if it was just the food that was bland but the fact that the service was so bad this will be my first and last time at cafe bubamara. read more

Charged me $8.43 for a double latte. Nice place, but their attitude and approach to serving a large latte was all screwed up, not to mention expensive beyond what NYC charges. Do yourself a favor and choose another place. read more

Zero and is too much! This is the worst place ever! They are racist and very bad costumer service! The food takes to long to come and by the time you wait to eat they keep coming and asking for you to leave! I had my friends for lunch for my birthday! The waitress named "Suzan" she presented a mmm me very bad attitude! We didn't stay more than 40 minutes and she kept coming and bumping into the table with the chairs and other tables as well! She almost hit us! When I asked for her name she said : "Why you want to know, I don't care you have to leave I have other people waiting" I'm going to report this more further this it's not going to stop here! I don't want other people to have the same discusting experience that I had! read more

To say this place was amazing would be an understatement. The space is really cute, they have a nice ample backyard where you can sit in the shade and watch the latest soccer game. The food was SO GOOD. I had a Bubamara breakfast which was delicious and we had a couple other dishes recommended by the waitress. The service was courteous and speedy. What a quaint little spot! A true gem. When I walked in I was a little skeptical as no one was there and the waitress greeted us a few minutes after we had arrived... my hubby said "I sense we are going to get bad service" and since Noches de Colombia was around the corner I was ready to make my escape lol. But I am glad it was freezing and we quickly changed our mind and stayed. I was pleased with the beautiful tea presentation and the Turkish coffee, truly authentic. I ordered the ham and cheese crepes which to my opinion were good.... BUT it comes with tons of sour cream and shredded cheese on top.. I wasn't feeling it... it kinda defeated the purpose the crunchiness of the fried crepes, as it became soggy in a matter of seconds. Perhaps serving the sour cream on the aide would be a better option. My husband ordered a Greek omelette, which was great and the multigrain toast with fresh fruit, excellent choice! Just stop by here for coffee and a treat with my boyfriend. 1st: Older short guy, (I don't know if he is the owner) but took forever to address us when we sat down. He seem to be too caught up chatting with these two young ladies seated at another table. This was an annoying customer service experience. However, the other two waitresses show more attention and were more customer-oriented. 2nd: Tres leche cake was not too pleasant. Took a few bites and just pushed the plate away. Texture was dry and just dense with just the milk. Overall, annoying experience. read more

Came here for the first after hearing my bf's mom raving about it. Me and my bf order a turkey panini & crepes after. Both were so delicious!! I usually go to the city to get crepes but having these and being so much closer to home, definitely will be coming back for them!! Neat little place. Very clean, and decor is so nice. The waitress Sophie was super nice and very patient while my friend and I were thinking about what to order. She offered great suggestions. We ordered the yogurt, a savory crepe and their special type of meat pie. The savory crepe had a lot of cheese, but overall all of the food was really good. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great dessert or snack in the area! read more

Really quaint cozy restaurant. The staff is nice, coffee is delicious, food if amazing. Prices are really good for the amount 9f delicious food you get. We had the mini beef burek, soooo good. Crispy and tender on the inside, stuffed with plenty of meat. The grilled chicken caprisi, fresh, juicy and the sauce ok the side had the 0refct kick paired with the sandwich. Bubamara club, delicious. The breakfast wrap, plenty of meats and cheese but light, very good. The turkey and scallion omelette, very cheesey and filling. Chai latte was well balanced, delicious. The fresh squeezed orange juice, a little pricey, but well worth it, fresh and refreshing. The waffle Nutella with fruit, was massive and if you like sweet it is the plate for you. Finally, the delicious, strong, but not overpowering, Turkish coffee. It was soooo good. I will def recommend this place and come back to try other menu items. read more

Awesome eastern European café atmosphere. owner-operators are from Montenegro they play pop music in Serbo-Croatian and many of the customrs are speaking this language or from elsewhere in eastern Europe, as are the waitresses. Great Turkish coffee, cakes and baklava and a big seiection of Balkan style food and sandwiches. There is a large patio seating area out back surrounded by greenery, quite beautiful and lively on weekend nights. Also sidewalk seating and indoor seating if you want A/C or heat. Good fresh squeezed juice. A very distinctive and cool place, well worth a trip to Clifton to check out! Street parking. read more

After my friend Ivan P. showed me this cute little café, I have gone back multiple times. The inside is decorated so nice. It's basically everything I would buy at home goods and decorate my apartment with. The frappe reminds me of Europe and summer spent there. Moving on to the belle of the ball...the burek. They have pizza burek, they have combined the two of the greatest things on Earth into one. read more

I first heard about it several years ago when…read morethey first opened in the Arthur Ave neighborhood - standing out as a traditional Albanian restaurant amongst the sea of Italian eateries. Fast forward to the present day, and they have gained considerable attention. The restaurant has made the NYT's Top 100 Restaurants in NYC list for the past 4 years, they have expanded to two (soon three) other locations, and is a favorite among the social media and celeb crowd (this is allegedly one of Dua Lipa's favorite restaurants in the city). That being said, we thought it would be a great spot to celebrate a family member's birthday - so I booked a table and off we went. Çka Ka Qëllu is located on Hughes adjacent to the back entrance of the Arthur Ave Retail Market. The restaurant is gorgeous - it's pretty spacious with three main dining rooms. The decor is a showstopper in itself - the exposed stone walls coupled with the abundance of artwork and old world accents placed throughout the dining area make this seem more like a museum than a restaurant. The ethnic music that is piped throughout the restaurant completes the feel. I honestly couldn't stop looking around. There menu is pretty expansive - most of the items I had not heard of before, but it's also approachable as they spell it out for you in the description what each dish is. We were a party of seven, so to make things easy we aligned to share everything. My brother and I decided to take lead and order items from each section. We decided to start with the ajvar, sausage dip, and tarator. These were all delicious; essentially dips, they all had great flavor and were paired with hot crusty bread mmmm. We then got a bunch of other dishes: leçenik, burek, fili, fasule with smoked meat, mantia, mazë e zier, and a shop salad. As with the dips, everything here was delicious. It's hard to pick the standouts because everything was so good - honest food, full of flavor and depth. Okay you twisted my arm - if I had to choose, my favorites were the burek and the mazë e zier. I love a good burek, and this one was top drawer. The pull on the mazë e zier was out of this world, yet it was easy to maneuver with great flavor. We ended the meal with one of their grilled dishes - namely the mixed meat combo. We chose five meats and they paired them with some vegetables and potato. At risk of sounding like a broken record - this was delicious as well. Service was awesome - everyone was welcoming and the food came out at a good pace. Overall, Çka Ka Qëllu is an absolute yes - the food, the decor, and the service were all aces. The hype is real and they deserve all the accolades they have received. Based on the very high ratings - we decided to give Cafe Bubamara a try. We came in for a quick lunch and were seated quickly. We sat in the inner room which affords a little more privacy - but is not as well serviced by the waiters. I decided to try the Burek (Spinach) and Yogurt. I also asked for ice water and was told it isn't available. You can only get bottled water. Is that even legal in NJ? We also got a Belgian waffle and shared both. The Burek was ok - Having had many Bureks in the past, this one seemed a little too tough on the outside (Nearly broke my tooth). The yogurt was also average - I like the more traditional "Ayran" which is more sour and yogurty. Finally - the Belgian waffle was a good one, very generous and freshly made. Service was spotty - which may be because we were in the back room, so I'd suggest getting a seat in the front room. Overall - seems the hype is way bigger than the actual quality of this place and the "No water" policy is just annoying. From my perspective there are better venues around - most likely won't be back. read more

The cafe itself is absolutely beautiful.. thoughtfully designed, cozy, and inviting. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the ambiance and food. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like a burden rather than welcomed guests. The place was nearly empty, yet we were told we couldn't sit at a table with four seats because there were only two of us. I would understand if the cafe had been busy, but with plenty of empty large tables, the policy felt unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming. What made it worse was watching a woman with an infant in a stroller being hassled because the stroller was "slightly in the walkway," even though there was more than enough room for people to comfortably pass by. It just felt like the staff were more focused on enforcing arbitrary rules than creating a hospitable environment. The food was actually good, which makes the poor service even more disappointing. Sadly, the way we were treated ruined the experience. Based on the service alone, I won't be returning. read more

The menu at Cafe Bubamara has a variety of traditional Balkan dishes, my favorite being their burek. They also offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and desserts. My favorite items to get from here is their burek, fried dough appetizer, which comes with honey and feta cheese, their savory crepes and their Turkish coffee or Nescafé. The atmosphere at Cafe Bubamara is cozy and inviting. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor seating area is a great place to enjoy a meal on a warm day. They also have space heaters for days when it's cold out. Overall, Cafe Bubamara is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal and a cup of coffee. The food is delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I highly recommend Cafe Bubamara for breakfast or a date night. read more

We been going there for years every single Sunday after church. It was 90 degrees outside and I am pregnant and I have two year old daughter. The waitress takes my temp and tells me it's 95.5. Of course my temp will be high in this weather with no ac sweetheart and being pregnant and not having a zip of water since I woke up in order to take communion . Meanwhile I took my temp when I went to church and it was 98.5. Never ever gonna step a feet again neither my entire family that's been going there!! Oh and we own a restaurant too btw and we know how to stay clean.... we gave them so many chance and the waitresses are always rude. The only polite one is the hound waiter read more

I recently visited this restaurant and was extremely disappointed with the poor service and quality of food. My meal came out late and was cold, and when I brought it to the attention of the manager, he did not take any steps to correct the situation. All he offered was a half-hearted apology before walking away, leaving me feeling frustrated and ignored. To top it off, the total bill was not worth the price, even though the restaurant was cute and had a nice ambiance. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality dining experience. read more

I come here regularly now for the bureks; goes great with yogurt to dip in which gives it a slightly sour taste. There is plenty of seating inside and outside but I do not recommend the yard on humid days when you're bound to get bitten by mosquitoes. They only sell pizza bureks as full size but they are well worth it! Also love the mushroom and spinach one!! read more

I went recently for the first time and had a spinach burek and turkish coffee. They were presented beautifully and both were absolutely amazing! The space is cute and cozy and the staff is extremely friendly and inviting. I will be coming back and highly recommend this to anyone in the area. read more

Cafe Bubamara is a great spot with a really nice ambiance and solid food. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, and the vibe of the place makes it enjoyable to sit down and eat. The only downside is that it's a small space, so you do feel rushed at times to free up the table read more
