Meh. We ate in and the individual who took our order repeated back twice " no sauerkraut, right", then proceeded to make the sandwich with sauerkraut. We were in Santa Fe last year and had breakfast here several times and loved it. This is still a favorite. Tip: If your breakfast order comes with hash brown potatoes remind them that you like them crispy or they will be a little dull. read more

I loved this place! Unpretentious, comfortable, and yummy! In the week we were in town we went twice and would have gone more but they are closed after 3. The Benedict sampler was Wonderful. I prefer my hollandaise more lemony, but the eggs were cooked perfectly and getting to try 3 different types was such fun. My husband loved his gyro--lots of meat and very crispy fries, as he asked. They used to be the best breakfast place for bacon and eggs. No more. They used to have the best toast, super crunchy but chewy. Now, you can tell it's just some store bought cheap bread, even has a weird aftertaste. Yuck. We've been coming here for years. It used to be packed fir breakfast with locals.... no more. The food was good. The bagels were nicely toasted. It wasn't all that but it was definitely OK, especially if you're trying to get away from some green chilies for a while. Where things went really south really fast was they came to our table they took our drink order it took her food order and then freaking forgot about me. Husband got his coffee and water, and I didn't. We pointed out to the server I'd Ordered also. But that didn't seem to matter. We told someone else, they went and took an order from another table. Husband had to go to the counter and ask for My coffee. Don't mess with someone who hasn't had their coffee. We were nice about it though, because, well, we're in a New York deli. I was there today, November 2, 2019 a little after 1:00 P.M. I am a regular customer there. Unfortunately, today when I arrived the staff was gathered at the large table just inside the door. They were shouting, yelling, cursing, and arguing with each other and saying things to the manager such as, "You texted your wait staff sucks" and other things about the management. No one was being waited on in the dining room and people were leaving while the cooks were cowering in the kitchen. After several minutes, I became more than a little concerned and left with several other customers. I won't return. Ever. I love this place. Friendly staff, outdoor seating, humongous variety on the menu, and quality food. What's not to like? My favorites are the sampler salad, which is enormous and tasty, and the Belgian waffle. Man, is it good! They seem to add a little extra vanilla or something to the batter, which makes it very yummy. I also like the sourdough bread you get with the salad (optional). Love that stuff. I've had one of the eggs benedict dishes here (they have about 8 varieties), I think it was the one with chorizo, and sadly, it wasn't that great. I think their hollandaise sauce was just not up to par for me. But that's why you try stuff and stick with what you like, or I do anyway. :) read more

We came here based on a friends recommendation. It seemed expensive and lacking much taste for the price. Chicken matzo ball soup tasted the best. The Grand Central sandwich was ok. But this time of year to have hothouse, unripe, tomatoes is inexcusable. The potato salad was not to my taste at all. Since Bert's Burger Bowl was closed we took a chance. Not sure what everyone ate at this place to warrant great reviews. We had New York deli fare. A turkey Rubin on rye with sweet potato fries and slaw. The turkey was off. Not bad but off. It just did t really have a taste but it did have a smell. The bread was good. Not great. Not fantastic not even average. It was just a plain ole sandwich. My husband ordered the roast beef sandwich he said it was alright. Again, not fabulous. Just a sandwich. I was expecting a New York deli sandwich. like the ones in New York. Or maybe k(L?)enny and ziggys in Houston. Now those are delicious and would knock your socks off. I did notice everyone ate pancakes and eggs. A few other breakfast items but mostly pancakes. I also would like to mention the wait staff ignored us for 10 minutes without getting our drink order. And that happened when I flagged one down. So all in all 3 stars feels about right. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. The quality had decreased and it now longer feels rhe same. The potato pancakes were confirmed to be frozen. The food was bland and the decor is no longer charming and feels cold and corporate like. Why must we alway have a restaurant serve New Mexican food even though the name is furthest from New Mexican. I love bagels in the morning, and the assortment of bagels is just superb. I love that there is always a selection to choose from, and with so many it makes it hard to decide which to have, though I tend to favor the green chili and everything bagels. As if the bagel selection wasn't enough, their assortment of cream cheeses gives me even more variety in my mornings. I can pair my green chili with green chili, or honey walnut with cinnamon raisin. We were extremely disappointed and will not ever go back! New York deli has poor quality ingredients. New York Deli has the most expensive pancakes in Santa Fe $ 7.95 for 2 pancakes and charges extra for maple syrup. 2 pancakes 3 pieces of bacon (bacon is poor quality) and coffee was $14,26. We had to waited over 25 minutes. The chicken liver sandwich tasted awful and is still unable to digest. read more

After a second return recently I find it's just ok if that. Chose an Eggs Benedict and found the hollondaise quite bland. No flavor to it. Previous visit was another breakfast time of which I chose an omlette with vegetables. Was fine but almost to room temperature. As was the case with yesterdays Eggs Benedict. I find with similar experiences that may answer the concerns of the slow delivery of service as well food. Meals left on counter with no heat lamp possibly. This particular location is going under some renovation and hope amongst their remodeling that they consider sound barrier walls. Is quite noisy and with open ceilings, concrete flooring allows for loudness. Not likely to make a return anytime soon. read more

We haven't had good luck at this location. We love the Cerillos location though. Saturday I ordered a Belgian Waffle. My wife and I are trying to be vegetarian, so I skipped the bacon or sausage. I got one thin (1/2 inch thick), small, maybe 7 inch round waffle. It was the same kind of waffle you get at a continental breakfast at a hotel that you make yourself, and a scrambled egg on the side. No bread, or any other sides, so I asked for a banana. My tiny waffle, egg and banana was $15 because the banana was extra even though I didn't get bacon or sausage. My wife got a huge omelet loaded with sauteed vegetables, a side of hash browns, side of fruit and a tomato bagel and creme cheese for $12. Granted, all she ate was the bagel and fruit because the omelet was too greasy to eat. We were in a hurry and had to ask the waiter (and help) for the check 4 times before he was capable of printing it and bringing it to us (at one point we saw him singing and dancing in the kitchen while we waited). My son ordered the same as my wife and after tip, our bill was $72 and we all left hungry. We weren't happy. Thank you to the busser that refilled my iced tea. At least I got that. If you want consistently good service and food, go to their other location. Their staff has been the same for maybe 10+ years! read more

Haven't been to this restaurant in maybe 10 years & it was wonderful back then. Unfortunately, when we went on Sunday it was just awful, I think after the owner/management changed, it's all gone south . Ordered a California Omelet, changed the sausage to ham and had it with a Croissant - the ham in the omelet was sweet for some reason and didn't taste quite right, the croissant had been warmed & when I asked for one that wasn't warmed, the waitress said it would be frozen, I couldn't believe that they wouldn't serve fresh croissants, that's unthinkable, the croissant was soggy and tasteless. The service was mediocre at best, would no recommend this place to anyone looking for even remotely good food unless you like 'Denny's' style fast food, yuck! A waste of money & time. read more

I have nothing nice to say about NY Deli. I've been there many times over the years...was not much better when it was the Bagelmania. Same idea, same meh food, same lousy experience. Someone took a bite of my food one time, 1 bite! When we got the check, the waitress had charged us a split plate fee...over 1 bite. Sharing is not caring. Had we have asked for an extra plate, had he have taken more than 1 bite..actually if he'd have taken 2 bites of my food I might be as bitter...but talk about stingy. read more

It is an insult to any true New York style delicatessen to have this sandwich shop named as it is. As a Texan craving a true New York style corned beef sandwich, I made the error of going to the NYD. First, a corned beef on rye is served with deli mustard, not hot mustard. Next, lettuce and tomatoes do not go on a corned beef sandwich! Terrible!!! Party of four- 2 adults and 2 kids. Service was excellent. We had the kid's grilled cheese sandwiches, a Reuben, egg salad sandwich, and matzoh ball soup. The Reuben was excellent - sauce was one of the best we've had at a deli. The matzoh ball soup was light (not overly salty). Reuben had a great flavor as did the sauce. The egg salad was good; I'm used to a little creamery homemade version. All in all this was an excellent find as we passed through Santa Fe! read more

Do not go here unless you pay cash. The food is good. However, they are unprofessional in how they deal with payments. If you have an issue they lie,tell you they will get back to you but don't. We ate there on July 20th and paid $26 and change with a debit card. It is now August 15th and they have run that charge 5 times. Now, no one will call me back. It's taking me hours out of my day going to the bank, filling out forms, making phone calls due to their lack of integrity. This is fraud.
