Been here a million times over the years, lol. Most of them were late night and on weekends, and there's usually a wait. My go-to here is Tapsilog more often than not, and it is bomb! I feel like the Tapa here is way better than any of the other Filipino food joints around! Flavorful, but not too salty. And always the right amount of tenderness. My friends and I usually split a plate of Sisig as well, which is really good here, too. I rarely venture away from the Filipino menu when I'm here, but the other foods are good as well. Be on the lookout for the daily specials, too. As far as service goes, it's always good and friendly, but does get a tiny bit slow at times when it's really busy. For those of you raised in Asian cultures, I think you'll sympathize with this. On the many nights I'm awake until 2 a.m., the midnight munchies settle in, and they're nothing you can settle until 11 a.m. I'm not talking about a simple burger, pancakes, or even McDonald's all-day breakfast. I'm talking about the craving for good and greasy Asian food: a steaming bowl of pho tai, fried rice with lap cheong, dim sum, Hong Kong-style chow mein. Situated in a casino and surrounded by graveyards, Cafe Colma was the answer to those prayers and a shining beacon in the dark of night. Yep, my roommates and I were still awake. We were starving and the only thing that was going to cut it was sweet, marinated tocilog. We also apparently weren't the only ones -- at 3 a.m., there were a fair number of cars in the back lot, and the diner was packed with other Asian millennials who apparently had the same thought. In the interest of not sleeping on a bloated belly, I split my $11 (!!!) tocilog with my boyfriend, while our roommates got another plate of tocilog, home fried potatoes, sausage links, and the bacon and sausage breakfast plate. I'm down to back the movement for fairly priced and authentic ethnic food (Remezcla recently ran a great article about this in relation to the expectation that Mexican food is cheap). Those attributes have to meet expectations for quality, however, to justify pricing. A tiny scoop of lukewarm garlic rice and dried meat jerky doesn't back that up. Nor does underseasoned potatoes or lackluster service. That being said, you heard me. Lukewarm food, home fried potatoes that looked more like plump Ruffles than home fries, and the minutes-long failure to make eye contact with a waitress, despite sitting right by the registers. But it's also a 24-hour joint that's willing to put up with your loudness and long fumble to figure out how much tip is. This is my place to be super late night after a bar, club or if I just find myself hungry and out and about. They are open 24hrs and have some pretty good food. Tons of Filipino favorites. Sometimes they may take a little while to get you your order but the last couple times I have been here they have been quick and prompt. Only reason I gave 3 stars is because some of the items on the menu are a bit overpriced in my opinion or the serving size is a bit small for what you pay. read more

They also have rotating daily specials, so if you miss your favorite daily dish special, just come back the following week. I usually order Filipino or breakfast foods. The Filipino food always tastes like it's homemade. I can almost see Nanay standing in front of the stove wearing slippers and her housecoat, stirring whatever she's got in the big pot. That gives me the warm fuzzies. The people who work here are always friendly. These aunties and uncles work long hours. Please be generous when you tip. You get big, hardy portions of food. The "over rice" plate's can easily feed 2 people. I've eaten here lots of times and have never had a bad meal, but I always have leftovers to take home. Absolute garbage. I say this with great displeasure as I usually don't like to publicly say anything about a business unless it is positive, but this place really left that much of a terrible impression on me. First of all, for some reason they let me skip the waiting list and I got seated before someone else who was there first. Secondly, when I requested a glass of water I received a plastic cup instead of a glass like the tables next to me. Normally I wouldn't mind, but why did the other tables receive glass? I then ordered the tosilog, which the waitress informed me was very delicious, but when the food arrived I was disappointed to see that I had received the longsilog. She told me that they ran out of tosilog and that this was the next best option. To add insult to injury she then spilled the vinegar all over the table. I wanted to give the longsilog the benefit of the doubt but it was painfully bad, and slightly cold. Gave me a stomachache too. Lastly, I tried to repeatedly flag down a server, but they all looked away when they saw me. I had to go up to the front desk to pay for my food. So - historically this has been my go to diner for home cooked food, when I dont want to cook. However recently came in and ordered spaghetti and meat balls. pasta and sauce was hot but the meatballs and garlic bread were cold. The waitress never came back to check on me so I couldnt complain. So I just ate the hot food. When she came with the check, I explained why I didnt eat the meat. Here excuse: the chef thoughts it was a "to-go" order. Inside the lucky chances casino, this is one of the few places in the area open 24hrs for food. The best way to describe it is a diner mixed with filipino and chinese foods. From the typical breakfast foods pancakes/waffles/eggs/bacon to halo halo/silogs/lechon/spaghetti to wonton soup/chow mein noodles/mongonlian beef this place has a wide range of options. The food here is ok, not the best I've ever had for diner/filipino/chinese but good enough to make you happy late night. The service is pretty quick but can be a bit spotty at times but the food once it is ordered comes out pretty quickly. We had our dinner at Café Colma at Lucky Chances Casino last night. Four of us ordered the Beef Stew Noodle soup. Only 3 orders were served, and mine was still being prepared according to the server. I follow up my order 4 times in a span of 30 minutes and the server always comes back to me that the kitchen is still preparing it. All my siblings were almost done eating. When it was finally served to me, the soup tasted sour, and I let my husband and cousin taste it. It was so bad. We called the attention of the server and she offered to change it for another dish. I ordered food to go as all of them were done eating already but it also took another 20 minutes to wait for it. I'm very disappointed with the service. Not sure if it was a new chef but the food wasn't satisfying as it used to be. This was the second time that we had a bad experience. Two months ago, the same incident happened. I ordered pancit palabok, it was overcook and tasted sour, and my husband's goto was so thick and sour too. They just microwave the food that they served to us. I really think the management of this Café should check what's going on in their kitchen. Our family was totally dismayed that this Café is no longer serving good food to their customers. I've been here hella times and it's very good to eat especially if you like being out at night. The staff there are very nice and it makes me feel like I'm home. My favorite item to get is the Loco Moco. My experience here is the best because I always stay up late and when I want late dinners, this place comes in clutch for midnight meals. They have prime rib as late as 3am cooked medium with your choice of side. Service has been great even late night. Clam chowder on Fridays is as good as swans oyster depot. We were a group of seven ordered the mami chicken soup and bola bola siopao and combosilog . Soup was cold and tasted bland. Our server kept mixing up the rest of our orders and would not deliver our food at the same time. The place was not busy when we came. Service was slow . Seems to be a hit or miss amongst the Yelp community. However, I dig it- no complaints, here! Y'alls just need to know WHAT to order! For example, when the food arrives and onlookers from surrounding tables often ask, "S'cuse me, what is that dish over there? It looks good, but what is it?" I already know the particular dish they are asking about- Shrimp Chow Fun w/ Gravy. And yes, you all MUST try it sometime! It's my number one favorite entree from the cafe and one of my favorite foods of all time. What I also love about this place is that they have a little mix of this and that- American, Chinese, Filipino, and even a bit of Italian fare. The char-grilled cheeseburger and fries are another of my favorites. Very basic, but something about them just tastes SUPER good. Flatscreen TVs; soft background music, Christmas pop standards at the time of our visit. Tables for four, and a long counter. We were seated at once, but it took the server perhaps ten minutes to get to us. The core menu is Filipino and Chinese, with a couple of non-Asian choices (including trout amandine) on the daily specials card. We went with: - Mongolian beef rice plate, good but not especially spicy. - Seafood chow mein with stir-fried noodles. A big plate of crisp fried noodles, and a separate soupy bowl of seafood: shrimp, scallops, and calamari, with mushrooms, bok choy, and carrots. - An excellent halo halo, choice of mango or ube ice cream; ingredients include generous quantities of jackfruit, palm fruit, coconut, beans, and chunks of what appeared to be flan. SO SO disappointing. Been coming to the cafe for years with my family and have always been given great service. However, I showed up with a group of friends to eat last night and the servers were speaking in Tagolog RIGHT IN FRONT OF US saying how "none of them wanted to serve us" THINKING we (Filipino-Americans) wouldn't understand them. SECONDLY, they took ridiculously long to serve us our food when there were ONLY 2 tables (ours being one of them) in the whole restaurant! When they finally served us our food the staff was "laughing" as if the long wait was "on purpose." As I mentioned, I've been here countless times, I know the food shouldn't have taken as long as it did considering I've received my food in minutes with a full house. Reviews says it all. The number one late night go to spot after a drunken night at the club. Food does take a lot longer to come out during these type of nights but most of the time you don't care, especially when you're with drunk friends lol. I always order arroz caldo drizzled with a little bit of patis (fish sauce), squirt a little lemon and I'm good to go. Sounds kind of weird, but believe me, it's good.. only if you can withstand the smell of fish sauce. I used to like ordering tocilog but ehh, i'll pass on that. I've recently started ordering their oxtail kare kare which I was hesitant to get at first but I was really craving! I was definitely satisfied. The sauce is creamy but also had its thick peanut butter texture. I ordered kare kare twice and it was made the same way as when I first ordered. I like how they don't fool you and just give you the oxtail bone because they actually serve a good amount of meat! I like how they also provide salted shrimp paste- honestly that's the only way I know how to eat kare kare! You don't necessarily need the shrimp paste, but it adds more into that peanut butter taste in your mouth! My boyfriend likes to order the scrambled eggs mixed with beef (idk the exact name) but it's one of his favorite dishes here. We've also tried their binagoongan- good, but not something i'd order all the time. It's been a while since coming to this establishment but I'm sure glad we did! I don't get to come here often as I don't live in the Bay Area anymore but I was glad I was this time and able to introduce my other family members to try it. Keep in mind it is in a local casino. Maybe that's why I gave it 4 star, the smoke in the air while walking through. (I know I know, it's a casino). Anyway, there was 7 of us and we all had different dishes. The nice thing is they have an abundance of different items of American, Filipino & Chinese food choices. We tried the following: Prime Rib Dinner: good portion with my choice of mashed potatoes, Veggies & side of Au jus & horseradish Filipino Rice Congee: with tripe Minced Beef & Peas/carrots, wit your choice of a fried egg or raw Egg Over Rice Beef Chow Fun (no gravy) & large portion Won Ton with Noodles Beef Stew & Bok Choy: Won Tons We're huge & beef stew very tender Shanghai Lumpia: it wasn't bad but it was just okay. Not worth getting again. Last but not least, HALO HALO. When you first get it it doesn't look like much but all the other yummy items are on the bottom. Am I back in the Philippines? So after watching the Journey concert, me and the wifey were hungry and were planning on getting burritos in the Mission District. It was late night then I recalled recent conversations that this place was open 24 hours, and they served Filipino food. This is the only place that's happening in Colma since the dead outnumber the living here. (That was a Jeopardy question...really.) They opened Lucky Chances several years ago right in the middle of all the cemeteries. Even though it's right in my own backyard, we haven't visited here since were not the gambling type. (In Poker, that's called a bluff) So this was the night that we finally got to see what this place had to offer. One thing we quickly discovered was that parking is a pain and the stalls are unforgivably small. You'd think with all the SUVs and bigger cars people drive nowadays they'd be more accommodating. Oh wait, I see a bunch of Honda Civics in the parking lot. Not to perpetuate the stereotype here but Colma is right next to Daly City. They do offer free valet but the people working there seemed a bit shady so we passed. They looked like ex cops from the Philippines. It was close to 1 AM and we were quite surprised to see the place was packed. It was a Saturday night so we should have expected something like this so we gave our name and patiently waited. I wandered in the Casino and watched some rounds of Poker. About 15 minutes later, they called my name and quickly sat us. I couldn't help notice that the majority of the diners were Pinoys and all the staff, including the cooks were Pinoys. Close your eyes, listen to the conversation around you and you could be somewhere in Manila. Grabbed the menu and they offered Filipino, American and Chinese dishes. I opted for the combo of chickensilog and longsilog. With silog dishes, you get garlic rice, 2 eggs made to order and a side of vinegar. My wifey ordered the Lugaw; a type of porridge with tripe and various pork parts. When I received my order, they game me the wrong one and forgot the longanisa. The plate went back to the kitchen and returned with two small pieces of longanisa. I guess I got an extra order of porksilog since they messed up on the first order. The longanisas were dry and too small they could've easily passed as vienna sausages. The chickensilog was dry...bone dry and had to do some serious chewing in order to break them down. And the garlic rice was just a lump of rice I betcha it wasn't even a cup. C'mon...this is supposed to be a Filipino dish were the rice is a staple ingredient. In other words, I've had better silog dishes and this was sub par by comparison. My wifey didn't like her lugaw either as it was lacking both in flavor and substance. And one thing that ticked me off was I was asked to show an ID when I ordered a beer, and since I left my wallet in the car, I wasn't able to quench my thirst. OK...you have to follow the law and it's inside a Casino but gimme a break here. I ain't getting any younger here. It seemed like the server was too lazy to get the beer. Located inside Lucky Chances Casino, this 24/7 restaurant served up a variety of traditional Filipino cuisine. We had a group of fifteen and waited for quite some time to be seated. It's passed 2 am and the place was packed! Hungry like a wolf, I got the popular Filipino breakfast in a combo style. Longanisa (Filipino breakfast sausage) and Pork Chops served with 2-Eggs and Garlic Rice (10.95). The longanisa was good but the pork chops turned out to be dry and uninviting to the palate. As far as the garlic rice, it was nothing to rave about. My cousin Chris though who happened to be next to me ordered their Kare-Kare (oxtail stew in peanut butter based sauce) served with steamed rice (I did not see this on the menu). Of course I couldn't keep my fork to myself. The kare-kare was of 4.5 star quality almost as good as yo mama's home cooking. Service was fair and plenty of parking. ATMOSPHERE: This restaurant is located in the casino. To go through, you need to have a valid ID, which is ridiculous. It's like you're getting carded to eat. The seating arrangement was kind of similar to IHOP, Denny's, etc. FOOD: We all shared our food since the portions were HUGE! We ordered pork adobo and pancit palobok. I would say that the food here was all right. It reminded me of home cooked meal. The rice was also extra. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Most of the servers here were Filipino and some were Chinese. Some of the people bitching about the service are probably some snobbish kids who probably just got out of the club and expect service to be super quick. If you didn't know the waiting time it takes for them to prepare your food in this restaurant then you're an idiot. And if you claim to have been coming to this joint for years then you're not just an idiot you deserve a slap in the face. As far as everything else goes, I think this place is pretty decent for anyone looking for Asian and American food. The only downsize is the pricing. But expect to get good or decent service. But please If you're just getting out of the bar and you're loud with your friends don't expect your hostess to be all nice to you and your group. This is the spot to go to after a night out. They're open 24/7. Nothing tastes better than corn beef or bangsilog after a night of drinking. I know it's super greasy and all, but it tastes so good and I always crave it late at night. I don't think I've ever had anything else on their menu besides their silog. They have Chinese food here too like pan fried noodles, chow mein, etc... The food is decent, but their service is really a hit or miss here. Sometimes it takes forever to just have them give you utensils or take your order. Sometimes they make mistakes on your order or take forever to bring it.. Always good for a quick, late night meal. If you wanna hit up the casino next door, you can also. I don't know how it is since I'm not a gambler.
