    Coquito Matcha

Was able to revisit the spot the other day and I love how Homie and on theme this café is to the Hispanic community. Ordered their burrito and Coquito Matcha. Seeing people come in play dominoes, meet with friends just also fed into the already curated vibe. Will definitely be coming back again.

Cafe Colmado is a coffee shop + cafe + social gathering space, thriving on the Lower East Side on a fairly quiet block on Broome Street. the Puerto Rican roots are evident from the name of the cafe to the comfortable casual vibes of the interior both in terms of aesthetic and energy. there is a small seating area with some couches in the front area, then a fairly large coffee/cafe bar that dominates the interior and a small area seating in the back as well as some seats along one side wall. stopped in here during the last heat wave to escape the fiery heat and sweltering humidity. the place was fairly full because Argentina was playing England in the World Cup. the menu of signature drinks and eats is clearly influenced by Puerto Rican culture like the "coquito latte" or a "tres golpes burrito" there also a variety of matcha-centric drinks. opted for an Iced Americano as i was in need of caffeine and cold refreshment. the Americano that i was served did not disappoint--bold flavorful coffee served icy cold hit the spot on a excessively hot afternoon. the service was friendly and the wait was not bad at all for my drink to get made. not sure if air conditioning was working or not because it was not hot inside but wasn't exactly cool either. the pricing does feel a tad bit high for the specialized coffee drinks, but more classic coffee drinks are priced normally. definitely would stop here again for an Americano again as the coffee blend is good.

Employees are super nice & welcoming! The drinks are great quality as well :) they have a bathroom for customers & a back patio passing through the kitchen

Me and my sister had Coquito lattes and the flavor wasn't that great. Could barely taste any coffee, had a slight sour taste maybe from the cinnamon? It was okay but not the best. Also for almost $13 a cup you would think they have homemade whip cream (they use reddi-wip from the can). Service was kinda slow and lacked priority. The place itself is a cool theme. I didn't go outside but the inside is kinda small and limited seating also no ac.

Such great vibes at Cafe Colmado! Love love love the aesthetics and Caribbean elements. There's a lot going on in a small space but somehow it just works! Not going to lie though, the hecticness caught me a bit off guard and I was little overwhelmed upon stepping inside. Music (a great selection from Luis Segura to Bad Bunny) was blasting, while some folks chilled and played dominoes, and others read... or pretended to anyway, ha! I was happy to be catching up with a friend and we were both ecstatic to have finally made it to Cafe Colmado to taste their viral matchas. There seemed to be a large group seated, so the barista was very busy and it took a while to place our order. Thankfully there was some table turnover that worked in our favor as we waited, so we proceeded to order the bistec sandwich to share, in addition to our coquito (non-alcoholic) matchas. So about the goodies...that bistec (rib eye) sandwich in the garlic aioli and chimichurri sauce with the pickled onions and God knows what else, was a next level 15/10. WOW. I was looking at it sideways and incredulous...like where did such deliciousness descend from!? I passed by for the matcha but would keep going back for that mouth watering messy goodness. For the first time in a long time, I was so sad I had chosen to share. Even the bread was toasted to perfection. Every bite was flavorful, and the fixings complimented each other very well. No notes whatsoever. Just divine! The coquito matcha (a lil steep at $16) is unique. It's really awesome to be able to get that flavor any time as I usually only have it during the holidays. However, I enjoy the earthiness of matcha and tend to have it unflavored, so I thought the drink was too sweet with the added whipped cream. Too sweet though just means that it would be too easy for me to overindulge and I need to stay away. It tasted like a delicious dessert drink, and I think everyone should have it at least once. The next time I go though, I will probably order a more basic matcha. Thank you, Cafe Colmado! It was a delightful first visit and it won't be my last. I am excited to relive my bistec sandwich experience and try another matcha, maybe on their patio as soon as the weather warms up. You should too!

First time I came to this place there was a block party and I couldn't even step foot inside. Luckily I have it a second try on a much calmer day. The coffee shop is very small so peak hours can get really tight. The service is quick and efficient. They are cranking out orders nonstop and quickly! I ordered the famous coquito iced latte ($12). A little thicker and sweeter than I expected but super delicious! Just needed a good stir. The dj was so good it made us want to stay and get a second coffee. My kind of coffee shop on the weekends!

The coquito latte was amazing! Staff was very friendly and welcoming. She gave great recommendations. I love the plastic covered couches and the domino table. Will definitely be back!

Came here to try their popular drink but couldn't walk out without having to grab something to bite on of course. Service was amazing, they were very attentive & the girl at the register was sweet, had a great attitude. Ambiance was a vibe; they had all different types of music. Food was so delicious! I had a tres golpe burrito & it was so good, I'm Dominican. I always have tres golpe but on a burrito, super good ! My drink was a coquito latte & I absolutely loved the taste to it, wasn't sweet for me & you can taste the coquito. 10/10 I would come here again, would definitely recommend!

The vibes were there from the moment you walk in! The music was great and everyone was so friendly. I knew I had to try both a matcha and a latte, so I ordered the iced Coquito latte and it did not disappoint. The only disappointing thing was that I didn't order another one to go because it was that good 100000/100000! They also had a variety of matcha options it was hard but I went with the iced strawberry matcha and it was perfect not too sweet just right. Definitely some good matcha!

There was a bit of wait while I was there but the VIBES are 10/10. The music is LOUD in there but I'm there for it. The cost of the drinks are pricy I will say. Is it worth it? I think so.

I've been on a journey to try what I feel is the best Coquito coffee latte in NYC. So far I've been to three different businesses and this being the third actually is what I would say is #1. The reason, because it's a coquito made into a latte. Not a flavored latte and not saying that's how the other places made them with just added flavor, as a matter of fact I don't know how they made it but it was not made like this one. Let's start with the cafe, it's an interesting one, kind of like coffee house vibes blended with a pool hall vibe. Very different. The service was great. The guy who took my order explained to me the cup sizes and what food they had available. Very nice personality, but I came for the latte and it didn't disappoint. It took me back to my growing up in Bushwick days, and my Puerto Rican Bff mother would make this hot drink to send us off to school on a cold morning, if you grew up in the 90s we had some real winters back then. If you know you know. Anyway I digressed lol. It's delicious. I would definitely recommend a visit. Two thumbs up and Happy Yelping!

Good coffee! I've tried their mocha and coquito latte both were really good. But it's definitely the food that keeps me going back. The steak sandwich is one of the best I've had, super flavorful and filling. Their avocado toast is also delicious. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the burrito. Overall, the service is great and they always play good music.

You can not go wrong me in my honest opinion. Puerto Rican based cafe from the decor to the music. I looooved that salsa was playing in the morning. The barista was nice and patient as I figured out what I wanted. The Mallorca sandwich was amazing. I looove Mallorca and when you add egg ham and cheese to it, it makes it even better. I tried the coquito latte which was not too sweet and it hit the spot. I heard from other people sometimes it can be too sweet but the day I went she made it not too sweet. Cafe bonbon was a treat as well. A shot of goodness. The decorations took me back to my grandparents apartment growing up. The cafe is a nostalgic feeling for me and for that for me makes this place 20 times better.

When I walked in, I noticed a sign saying they were voted #1 in a blind taste test for their chocolate chip cookies. I was skeptical and honestly assumed this might be one of those hyped-up social media spots . But I figured, why not? I decided to get the chocolate chip cookie along with the Maple Freeze, a slushy-style coffee drink. The Maple Freeze was pretty good! It wasn't overly sweet, which I really appreciated, and it was a nice caffeinated treat during this 91° heat wave. But THE COOKIE... I ate the chocolate chip cookie when I got home without even warming it up, and it was incredibly delicious. It was perfectly gooey on the inside and genuinely one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've had. Dare I say, better than Levain Bakery cookies?! I'm so glad I gave it a chance because the cookie hype is actually REAL. It's not just another overhyped social media spot--the cookie is truly that good. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I have a nail appointment.

The Jeju Green Tangerine Matcha honestly just tastes like a tangerine selter drink but in the best way, because I don't typically enjoy seltzer or carbonated beverages. The first sip and initial taste, I almost tasted nothing, just milk. And then all of a sudden, there's an explosion of flavor in your mouth. As a sweet potato lover, I was in heaven. I have absolutely no words for this drink, just try it. 100/10 recommend. This is probably my favorite one out of the 3 that I bought. I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.
