My two experiences at Cafe Conti were both delightful. The first morning I ordered the MIXED BERRIES AND CRÈME ANGLAISE CREPES. Two large, light-as-air crepes folded around a mixed berry compote and fresh sliced strawberries. The creamy delicious cream anglais turned by breakfast into dessert. Paired with a large latte, it made a yummy start to my day. The second day i breakfasted here with my hubby. In keeping with my dessert-for-breakfast agenda I ordered the NUTELLA AND BANANA crepes while my DH ordered the CREAMED SPINACH, SUNNY EGG, BACON AND GRUYÈRE crepes. My crepes were stuffed to bursting with bananas. And I savored every single bite. One reviewer complained of TOO MUCH FILLING! How is that even a complaint???? Is there such a thing as too much Nutella??? I'll let you decide for yourself. My husbands crepe was filled with lots of lovely creamed spinach, eggs, bacon, and gruyere! He loved it and I thought it was tasty, but hey, it wasn't dessert! Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the grits bowl, the grits were very creamy which is a plus because everyone doesn't get it right with grits. The down side to the bowl was the creamed spinach...there was just too much and it did not seem fresh at all. I also ordered the apple cinnamon French toast which was pretty good. read more

A hidden gem with amazing crepes! This place is hidden from the street and we would have walked right past it if we had it been looking for it. I got the crab & Brie and my husband got the creamed spinach. Both were the best crepes we've ever had. They were light and fluffy, and the fillings were delicious. The portion of the crab crepe was large and could easily be split between two people since the plate is made of two burrito-sized crepes stacked on one another. The crepes are light and perfect. We visited twice for breakfast and ordered takeout for lunch once during our 4 day visit so you know it was good! I had the creamed spinach crepe the first day and was blown away by how much I enjoyed it! I really would never have dreamed that the spinach would be that good and the bacon was perfectly cooked. The chai latte was also good. For lunch we tried the shrimp and grits and the grist were also very good. On our third visit I tried the eggs benny special that had shrimp and artichoke and it was also delicious. Our group ordered an obscene amount of food but it was all so good! The service was friendly but not terribly accommodating (one of our group wanted to order a banana and Nutella crepe and it was a bit of a pain to try and customize a crepe) and drinks were forgotten on our first visit but the food was just so good that we had to keep coming back! read more

First let me say, I have never written a review on a restaurant before so this comes with some sadness to do. It's all about the service my friend and I received on August 21, 23. My order was wrong so I sent it back, when cook (can't call him a chef) brought back the correct order he didn't place the food down, he slid it across the table. After my friend and I were done eating he followed us outside an asked if we had a problem. We informed him we did and we didn't appreciate the way he slid the my food across the table and he said that he didn't appreciate us asking him at recook the food. As for the front of the cafe I was told i could get a refill on coffee. When I ordered my coffee I asked for a splash of hazelnut, the coffee was good so I asked for a refill. The server brought the refill but told me I couldn't have any more hazelnut. By the way I'm African American and the server and cook are Caucasian. read more

Service was superb. It is a very small place that favors groups of 2-4. We waited for 10 minutes for a table for 2. Upon sitting down, my friend and I had already scoped out the menu and yelp reviews on dishes. We settled for 3 plates: Shrimp&Grits, Crab&Brie Crepe, and Spinach-Egg-Bacon Crepe. We further asked the server is she would recommend us try anything else. She noted that we have already marked down the best in the house. I ordered a Chai Latte before hand. I have a cats tongue so I did appreciate the latte not being scolding hot. However, I can see that also being a downfall to other customers. Spinach Crepe - It's one large aesthetic crepe with an egg sitting on top 2 strips of bacon, wrapped in crepe. The spinach was plentiful and super creamy. This dish and it's spinach was a little too much for me. But if you must have your spinach, this plate is for you. (2.5/5) Shrimp&Grits - If you guys read some of my reviews, you'll know I'm a hard critique on this dish. I'm on the search for the best Shrimp&Grits in the city. Cafe Conti delivered something interesting. The grits were really fluffy and had good texture. However, the sauce is on the watery side and there was hardly any, leaving the grits to be bland. The shrimp was fresh and plump. It was a little too salty, but I take it to season up the grits. What took my away was the garnish. If remember correctly, it bell peppers and onion. I didn't know how to feel about it because I never had Shrimp&Grits with such garnish. I gave it a try and the vegetables were a little over done, but tasty. Ultimately, I don't think it should be on the dish. The dish overall lacked flavor and counted on the "alien" garnish for flavor. Crab&Brie - For $11, this is a lot of friggin' crab. You blue crab lovers out there. This is your go to. This was the best thing to hit the table. Pros: Super crabby. Cons: Super crabby. It's really up to you but you could easily have too much of this. It does come in two crepes. This may just be me, but I could have found the food on the plates to be a bit more hot. Will I come back? I'll say thanks for time Cafe Conti. Amazing location with a French atmosphere. It is a small restaurant and there were only 2 servers. One yelled from behind the counter to sit at a certain seat as we walked in. I thought this was a little rude but after working in restaurants I understand that you want to try to give everyone the same amount of tables. David came to our table and he was super polite and efficient. We quickly ordered and our food was out within 10 minutes. I had the grits bowl. Absolutely amazingly. Great little gem on our morning walk! Stooped in for breakfast. The place is small and not great for big groups. The only had one highchair so we used a booster and it worked out well. Service was okay--atmosphere felt that they were overwhelmed - but it wasn't too busy - may be bc of the hotel. I had the crab crepes and this was delicious! Full of sweet crab meat in some kind of buttery sauce. My husband had the spinach and bacon and he said he enjoyed his as well - I like mine better :) Coffee was good and food was great. We shared the Benedict du Jour (Sausage, Shallots and Mushrooms), Crab and Brie Crepe, and Creamy Spinach, Bacon and Gruyere. First off, the food was delicious! As we ate, already one of my friends talked about coming back with her husband when she returned to NoLa in a few months. Unfortunately we decided against this as the meal progressed. Everyone who worked here were nonchalant towards the tables and then either had a weak arm or secret anger issues because they literally "dropped" things off. One lady spilled a coffee on our table but didn't clean it up, so my feet were right next to a puddle until we could get napkins to clean myself and the floor with. Someone then spilled an order at the table next to us. Everywhere in the little room was a succession of glassy plops as servers roughly set down orders on the table. Then at the end of our meal, they added an 18% automatic gratuity to our bill. Of four people. There was no warning of this on the menus, no mention on Yelp, so... What gives? It didn't exactly breed an air of wanting to return, so, I don't think we will. ***EDIT: The manager reached out to say the person auto-gratting was let go, so hopefully this won't be an issue for future customers! read more

Another Yelp win! After crashing and burning at about 3 other brunch spots (wait time of 45 minutes or more) on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, I whipped out old faithful, my Yelp app, and landed on this place immediately. I called ahead and lo and behold they said they had 2 tables available. Now that I'm thinking about it, whoever answered the phone to tell me that must have been the same waiter everyone else is complaining about in the other reviews I read because he was pretty abrupt and hung up without saying anything after I thanked him for his help. To be clear, that is literally the only conceivable negative thing I have to say about this experience - we walked in, sat right down, and had excellent service from start to finish. Our table ended up with a grits bowl, a breakfast po boy (which a neighboring table saw and immediately ordered as well), a berries and creme fraische (sp?) crepe, and the omelette of the day (shallots and cheddar). And bacon. So. Much. Bacon. Every single thing was delicious. Side note: there's a hidden door somewhere in the main dining room that we discovered. I dare you to try and find it when you visit. Also, no alcohol here, FYI. To summarize, I understand where the complaints about service might have come from, but that won't absolutely be your experience, and even if the service is bad, the food and the ambience more than make up for it. My wife suggested we eat here and I love her because she knows how to pick em! Seating is very limited but luckily, there was no wait. We ordered the Shrimp n Grits and the Spinach Crepe with Salmon Lox on the side. I'm usually not a fan of grits, but the waiter suggested that it was one of their signature selections, and I'm glad I ordered it. The grits were soooooooooooooo creamy and everything about the dish was perfect. The roasted bell peppers, the sauce, the shrimp... very balanced and delicious. The spinach crepe was also very good, and my wife was craving salmon and the restaurant was kind enough to offer it as a side option (for additional cost of course). Honestly, not a bad deal because it means you don't have to wait very long (the place was empty for us on a Monday morning), but the breakfast itself was pretty average. I grabbed a hashbrown plate that was so small I almost wanted to send it back and ask for something else, but I ate it anyway, and was still hungry when we left. (Cafe du Monde to the rescue mid-morning!) My friend got a pancake dish that was so drenched in syrup and powdered sugar that even my sugar-loving friend was unable to finish it. Both of us just kind of shrugged when we talked about the food on the walk to the French Quarter. For being in a city known for excellent food, this is not a place I'd recommend to visit unless you just really need breakfast before you venture out in the morning. read more

While the food was pretty tasty, our server was so rude and that is why they're receiving two stars. I dropped my friend off to find parking and he asked for a table for four. He was seated and I joined him shortly after. First off, when I asked what the Benedict of the day was, the waitress said "I already told your friend." He said he didn't remember so she told me, laughed, and walked away. My friend did not know there was 5 of us so when three others showed up (so 5 people instead of 4) we asked if we could pull up a chair. I kid you not her response was "Um no, but okay." We all looked at each other in shock. We weren't blocking the walkway, it wasn't crammed, there were extra chairs along the wall... She probably realized she was very rude so she decided to leave gratuity to our table of FIVE. That's fine though. Because I usually leave at least 20% so you can get your 18% and nothing more. As far as food, the grits were really creamy and delicious. The omelet of the day was Brie and basil and it was just okay. The Nutella and banana crepe was pretty good ( bc how is Nutella not delicious) but it wasn't full of bananas and we got a whopping one banana slice on top of it (check out other photos where banana slices cover the plate). My friend said the chicken hash was really good but in the end we were all pretty perturbed about the way we were treated. I don't know why she was so rude but makes me not want to go back.
