I've been on a hunt for some authentic phó, where the broth is made the right way with bones and seasonings, none of the bouillon junk. Well, this is the place to go! Winner winner! These guys are phó real! They make phó-nomenal broth! It's perfectly flavored, not oily, and has just the right of everything. I had the chicken phó and my friend had the beef phó! Both were on point. Another friend had fried rice and was amazed by the flavor. She deemed herself as a fried rice connoisseur and said this might be ABQ's best! Not only is the food superbly prepared and served, but this restaurant houses a generous vibe within its walls. A friend of mine visited the place with his son and didn't have enough cash on hand to buy a huge meal for his hungry child. Apparently left the credit card home. Well, it turned out a fellow diner bought them both 2 extra sandwiches and a big bowl of noodle soup! Not a loan, a gift. Another time, I was there with my family and the waiter not only gave us impeccable service but conversed in Vietnamese with my grandson, who has learned a few Vietnamese words. Eggs rolls were edible, but kind of flavorless. Very crunchy casing but mushy inside. Would get soup again most definitely but would pass on egg rolls. This is hands down my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. The food here is simple, unpretentious and reminds me of the food I get in the Vietnamese neighborhood of my hometown of Dallas. I usually go back and forth between Pho or a Vermicelli plate, but every time I've strayed from that, I have been pleasantly surprised. I've never had a bad meal here and their spring rolls are my favorite in town. I usually try to order the bacon wrapped shrimp when I go too. I'm not sure that these are "authentic" Vietnamese, but they are incredible nonetheless. Cute and clean Vietnamese restaurant on Central. We shared pork/shrimp spring rolls, egg rolls, tofu crepe, rare beef pho, shrimp lotus salad, and pork sausage vermicelli noodles. All dishes were well prepared and served quickly. Food here tasted similar to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in SoCal. Although the crepe can use more coconut milk in the batter to bring out the sweet aroma of this dish. Service was quick and friendly. I give this place a 4.5 stars. Man, the Vietnamese have taken the old slogan "Variety is the spice of life" to heart, haven't they? When you're presented with a menu that offers something along the lines of 150+ options, where do you start? The reviews, of course. More than a few mentioned the rare beef pho and spring rolls, so I figured what the hey. I wish life was as harmoniously uncomplicated as a solid bowl of pho. Some broth, noodles, protein and a few herbs, peppers, sprouts, I mean, why screw it all up with extras? It's one of the only hot dishes I crave in the middle of a hot summer day, and once I doctor it up with some hoisin and red pepper, lawd help me, the chow session is on. Only, this time I didn't feel the urge to drown the broth in other flavors, because there was plenty to discern in that there clearish water, no reason to dilute it. Honestly, some of the best pho I've ever eaten and once I get around to sampling what the rest of this town has to offer, I might add an extra star to this bad boy. As a spring roll connoisseur, I'll give these an 8 out of 10. Very good, exceptionally fresh, the cool watery burst to balance out the heat. Wonderful darkened ambiance, clean, maybe even a touch twinkly, a terrific escape from--let's face it--one of the more bizarre and edgy areas of town. And I enjoyed my brief back-and-forth with the owner, he liked my bag. I pointed out that it had precisely the same symbol as the red sticker on his door.
