The best chilaquiles I've had so far. Can't beat their bottomless hot cafe de olla either.

Unfortunately, this visit was very frustrating. When we finally got service, the servers repeatedly did not bring what we asked for they kept refilling our coffee but wouldn't bring us water, creamer or a spoon. It wasn't just our table everyone around us seemed visibly frustrated and dealing with similar issues. We were patient, but the lack of communication and follow-through really took away from the experience. The food may be good, but the service needs serious improvement. read more

This was my first time being back since COVID. Best dam thing at this place is the Cafe de Olla. I am sorry to report the quality of service and the food had changed since my last visit. There was always a crowd of people waiting my last visits and it was no different this time around. Was told it was a 45 minute and was seated 55 minutes. Due to my prior experience, I believe it was worth the wait. I ordered the birria caldo and my mom ordered the chorizo and egg breakfast plate. My mom was disappointed with the chorizo. It tasted like soap. She also revealed on her last visit she also ordered a the breakfast chorizo burrito and it tasted like soap back then. She regretted giving Cafe de Olla a second chance on their chorizo. She has no desire to go back. I was disappointed with my birria. It was bland. I had to add Cholula's boy friend to add flavor. After I consumed all the meat, I was still consuming the caldo. I wanted a bóllio to dip into the caldo and eat. Here comes the next issue. Getting help was AWFUL. It appeared there was plenty of waiters and waitresses, so having a shortage staffing was not an issue. My waiter would walk around looking down on the ground and not make any eye contact with any customers. Thus, unable to get his attention. Another waiter assisted me on my request for a bóllio. Too bad I wasn't clear on what invision when ordering a bóllio. I was asking for a whole uncut bóllio. I was brought a bóllio that was it in half and appeared it was flattens onto the grill in order to toast it. I wanted a fluffy bóllio to dip, but that is MY fault for not being clear. At the end, I would never ask for anything that involves a bóllio at Cafe de Olla. The bread is of low quality from my life time of experience of Panadería bolios. As looked around other tables, Cafe de Olla has a lot pretty looking food when they bring it to the table, but the facade may not match the taste. My experience was not worth the 45+ wait for the quality of the food, service, and experience. I do plan to comeback to give Cafe de Olla another chance. I will try their chilaquiles next time around, but only there is little to no wait. However, I will continue to stop by to get the cafe de olla to go. It is the BOMB! Until next time. read more

Get here early for a table! The wait staff is great and always filling coffees and waters for everyone. No asking for a refill, which is so nice. You have to try the Cafe de Olla if you have never had it. It's a coffee like no other. Imagine a spiced cinnamon coffee topped off with cream. I've never had anything like it! Our breakfast was great also. We had the 3 in one burrito and it was very flavorful and shareable. The restaurant itself seems small inside, but all the tables fit in quite comfortably. While I do enjoy this restaurant, the coffee and food options are worthy of a visit, the wait time is impossible. It's Sunday. I hopped on the waitlist at 9 and was given a seating estimate of 1050-1119. Well, it's 1130 and I'm still 8th in line. It's been over 2 1/2 hours since I initially joined the list. The hostess was not able to give me an estimate of how much longer either. Worth it maybe for a weekday visit, but there are certainly faster and larger venues in Burbank. read more

Street Parking is available. Please read signs around the neighborhood. Depending the day you go- there can be a bit of a wait. I tried the poblano chilaquiles with no rice and beans. Pretty tasty. Had the iced coffee de olla as well. I must say it was pretty delightful. Service overall could be better. This place is nothing like your typical Mexican restaurant. It's like stepping into someone's cozy kitchen and getting served the most delicious, authentic home-cooked meals. Every dish is bursting with flavor and feels like it's made with love. Our favorites are the Poblano Soup, signature Cafe de Olla (hot) and Chilaquiles Azteca. I also love their desserts! Usually, I get bloated after desserts. But not at Cafe De Olla. You can tell they use quality ingredients and put a lot of care into everything they make. Firstly, I want to say that I'm not the biggest fan of coffee but this place has one of the best coffee I've ever tried. We got the cafe de olla coffee, which I think is a traditional coffee in the Hispanic culture and my favorite part is the hint of cinnamon in it. What I like most about it, the coffee taste doesn't mask the whole taste of the drink. I really enjoy the breakfast here, but didn't have time to order and just got coffee to go. Usually in the mornings this place has long lines, but it is definitely worth the wait. The restaurant itself is pretty small and they have some nice outdoor patio area to eat your food as well. I've gone back a few times just for coffee today I decided to take out. I live on the other side of the valley and by the time I got home and opened my food I was beyond starved and dived in. To begin i was welcomed by a weird smell. I think it's the containers they came in or the oil that was used was old. Something about it didn't smell right.. a couple bites into my torta de asada and it just didn't taste right. All three dishes that were ordered smelled off. I was so lucky again that I found free street parking not having to circle around looking for meter parking. I ordered their 'Make Your Own,' omelette and their house brew. I liked both items I ordered, but it was just that the whole place was extremely cramped with so many guests. The bathroom gave out an interesting vibe: it immediately reminded me of any airplane bathroom. It was That cramped. I felt like I was on a plane using the restroom here. That and the waiters were all so nice. Maybe if I showed up on a less busier day.....not sure. The wait time for both items I ordered took a bit longer than I expected, so I guess it was first come first serve. Ordered my breakfast burrito with no sausage, came with a bunch, ruining the meal and money to waste. Got a box of coffee, with one drink for 46+$ and not filled. I shouldn't have to ask. I've always liked the food at Café de Olla, but after today I'm not coming back. I came for brunch with my 2-month-old baby and asked the host how long the wait would be since it's tough with a newborn in the heat. He told me 25 minutes and I even double-checked before walking away. About 20 minutes later it started getting crowded, so I went back to check. A different host was there and suddenly it was now another 1 hour and 20 minutes. When I told him what I'd been told earlier, they kept insisting it was "always" a 2-hour wait. That's just not true, I never would've agreed to that with a baby. It's already hard enough to get out of the house with an infant, and instead of owning the mistake they basically gaslit me. Totally ruined our Sunday. Food might be good, but if this is the kind of customer service they give, it's not worth it. read more

The servers keep the cinnamon-infused coffee coming your way, making sure your ceramic cup never empties and that your sugar high sees you past that 3 p.m. energy slump as you try to stay alert during brunch with a close friend, as so happened with me. Five stars for the coffee and servers alone! As for the food... I love sugary brunch over savory, and I love French Toast over pancakes, but above all, I love peanut butter with every ounce of my being--so of course I went with the Peanut Butter-Banana French Toast. Perfection. That's all I can say. P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N. Egg-battered White Toast generously stuffed with peanut butter and bananas, served with a side of maple syrup which I drenched my peanut-buttery French Toast with. Elvis would be proud. My friend got the carne asada dish, which I honestly can't recall its name as I was too invested in every bite of my French Toast galore and every Cafe de Olla refill as I blabbed non-stop about who knows what. I recommend trying their green chilaquiles; they're so good, and I think they're better than the red ones. And usually I go for the red ones. As for the service, they're very attentive, and the food comes out really fast. The only issue is there is a wait time. The wait time is usually about an hour. If you're lucky and come early, you can be seated quickly. Other than that, I would suggest getting on the waitlist on Yelp and then making sure to also check in person too. We drove 60 minutes to this location. Waitlist was already closed. Arrived at 10am on a Saturday morning. Took about 45 minutes to be seated for a party of 3. As soon as we were seated, Jesus came by and took our drink orders and told us to take our time looking through the menu. I asked for his recommendation between the Del Sur (chicken fajitas, chilaquiles poblanos,2 eggs and beans) and the Combinacion Sinaloa (2 fried tamales (pork or corn), chilaquiles poblanos, 2 eggs and beans). He asked me if I wanted more of a fajita dish and that the second was authentic Sinaloan tamales, made in house.... SOLD!!! he was going to have me try one pork and one corn, but i don't eat pork. They were delicious fried corn tamales.... so, so, so amazing!!! The chilaquiles had a tasty green poblano sauce with refried beans and two sunny side up eggs. The iced cafe de olla,,, was amazing. I wanted a second one, but had a long drive home. My husband ordered the Simple and Sweet; 2 slices of French toast, two eggs medium, hash browns and bacon. Our other friend ordered the chorizo burrito. All cooked to perfection. We ordered some conchas to go, and those were excellent. Came on a Wednesday, wait was around 35 minutes for a party of 5 which was not too bad considering this seems to be a very popular breakfast spot. The inside only had 5 tables and 1 large table for a larger party. The outside has another 6 smaller tables which can explain why the wait is pretty long. The service was great, our waiter checked up on us throughout our meal, was friendly, and helped us out with any questions we had. Food review time: Ordered the Del Antojo which is a bolillo roll topped with beans, chorizo, and cheese. It has a side of poblano chilaquiles, beans, and 2 eggs. The poblano chilaquiles were tasty, I wish they would have a little spice to them but that's also a personal preference. They put a good amount of sauce and chips but I wish they would have been more generous with the queso fresco. The chorizo on the bolillo wasn't the best, it was overly salty so I ended up scraping most of it off and just eating the bolillo with beans. Just a note, they charge $3 per substitution which can add up if you have any allergy, vegetarian, or vegan restrictions. A little unfair for those if you ask me considering your removing something for another thing in place of it. For the portion size, found it to be a little pricey. Is it wrong to feel like If I were of Latin descent the service would've been better? Because that was the feeling this restaurant was giving. We ordered their signature coffees iced and they were absolutely delish. My hubs got the chorizo and I got an omelet both were so yummy. But we never saw our waiter after he put the order in, never checked in or asked how was anything. I waved a bus boy down and asked for more salsa to go with the omelet, and he never came back. I asked another worker and he came and told me they would have to charge for more of it because they have to make it... I said never mind.. charge me for salsa at a Mexican breakfast restaurant?!?
