This little restaurant has always caught my eye when driving down Beverly Drive. Parking on this street is not that great, so the day I passed by and there was a parking spot right in front was the day I went in for lunch. The first time, I ordered the Falafel Sandwich with rice. The falafel was really good along with the rice. It also came with a free soft drink. The crisp pita chips with the dip that is brought out to the table when you sit down are​ phenomenal. It tastes like ​tomato, garlic, and maybe some bell peppers in there. I actually want to make it myself. On my second visit, I brought my mom along and we ordered the chicken kebab plate and tabouleh. Both very delicious​! The service is also great. I'll be back for sure! read more

I work in the area and this restaurant has become one of my favorites to order takeout from for my coworkers and I. We love the wraps with beef and chicken döner, and I love the falafel. Very authentic Turkish food. Their eggplant with minced beef is amazing. Yogurt soup is my favourite! It's a very traditional soup of turkey made with rice, herbs, and yogurt. Service is great. We made our reservation through opentable. Got seated right away. Parking is very convenient, just right in front of the restaurant there is street metered parking for up to 3 hours. Free after 6pm. We went on a Saturday night and it was a breeze finding parking. It's right next to rodeo drive as well. Can go for a nice walk after dinner. The ambience is dim and romantic. Great for dates. Another delicious dinner at Café Istanbul. I always enjoy the chicken kebab with hummus rice and grilled vegetables. And for dessert? Homemade baklava! This reasonably priced Beverly Hills restaurant draws a delightful global crowd. The place has a true International and interesting feel. The music is pleasant and not too loud. One of the nicest features is this is there's no corkage fee if you choose to bring in a bottle of wine (since there is no alcohol offered on the menu). I decided to try this place for lunch due to the 4 star rating on YELP but my experience with Cafe Istanbul was anything but 4 stars. So not sure where these 5 star ratings are coming from. Our waitress wanted nothing to do with us the moment we walked in the door. Everything was a chore for her from seating us, to getting our drinks, to taking our order, to refilling our drinks. When grabbing our cups to refill our drinks, she told us that my drink was on the right and my bosses drink was on the left. When you are a customer, you truly hope that the waitress can remember on her own, which cup is which. The second thing that bothered me was the limiting menu. By limiting, I don't mean it was a small menu but rather the prices jumped from the cheap ($7.95 for sandwiches) to $24.95 for entrees. Then a bunch of appetizers in-between. I picked this place because I was in the mood to eat a variety Mediterranean. I wanted hummus, grape leaves, schwarma, etc but the only way it was available was to pay $25 or get everything as individuals as appetizers for $7-9 a piece. My boss and I settled with sandwiches and to be honest, the food was just okay (3 stars). With the poor customer service I received, I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

FINALLY! FINALLY! I tried a new shawarma place (Cafe Istanbul) and I have to say, it was a SUCCESS! The chicken shawarma I ordered was so flavorful and so good, the whole restaurant knew I was enjoying myself... Perhaps a little too much... Because after the first bite, I essentially dove it and bathed in my lunch! While the portion of chicken is pretty big, I am the queen of the clean plate club... Thus I licked my plate clean, minus the ONION and HOT PEPPER that were BARELY grilled (it would have been nice if they were actually cooked, but perhaps they really just wanted those additions there as garnish?). My girlfriend ordered the same dish as me, but with the rice, and couldn't stop her mouth from chowing on, to the point that she felt Thanksgiving full when we finally got our check... That being said, she ordered a second round of the meal to go... "For my mom" she said... But I doubt it, ha ha! Over all, I truly truly enjoyed this restaurant and will definitely go back in the future... It would be a weekly staple if it were a bit closer to where I live, but hey, when in the area.... Wonderful Turkish restaurant. Reasonably priced, cozy restaurant with fresh and tasty food. It was a delight. Service was good but a bit sparse. We had the Karniyarik (eggplant) hot appetizer, chicken kebabs, lamb chops (4 perfectly cooked) and Kunefe for dessert. Everything was delicious! The Kunefe dessert was fabulous. It is a cheese based dessert with crunchy wheat crust and pistachios that is a local specialty from a region in Turkey. It does not have a cheesy taste and is a must if you have never tried it.
